My family (two seniors, two adults, and one child with special needs) came to Boiling Point San Gabriel to celebrate my wife's birthday because we really love the soup here. We arrived around 1:00 PM, and there were empty tables available. We checked in using the tablet as instructed, and a staff member asked us to wait outside. After a while, a male employee called our name, but the available table only seated four people. We politely explained that we were happy to use an extra chair, but our request was denied, and we were told to continue waiting. While we waited, we saw many other customers come in and get seated quickly. Our son, who has special needs, became increasingly restless and upset after waiting for more than 30 minutes. We also noticed empty tables that remained unoccupied, yet no one called our name. After driving for over an hour specifically to celebrate my wife's birthday at this location, we were very disappointed and ultimately decided to leave and celebrate somewhere else. The entire family was looking forward to eating here, so this experience was especially upsetting. We truly enjoy the food and the flavor of the soup, which is why we chose this restaurant for such a special occasion. We sincerely hope management will improve the seating system and staff coordination so future customers receive fairer and more efficient service. We ordered the Bak Kut Teh Hot Pot, House Special Hot Pot, and a Rose Milky Hot Pot. The Bak Kut Teh Hot Pot was flavorful and comforting, with a rich herbal broth that tasted authentic and packed with ingredients. The House Special Hot Pot was also excellent, loaded with a meats, stinky tofu, and vegetables that made every bite satisfying. The Rose Milky Hot Pot was unique and delicious, creamy broth with meat and shrimps. Hot pots came out piping hot and stayed hot throughout the meal. Service was friendly, and the food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy. Price is a bit on the high side around $20+ each pot. Boiling Point continues to be a reliable spot when craving Taiwanese-style individual hot pots. Looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu! read more

First time at this location, and it was pretty good. We came right when it opened at 11 a.m. on Saturday and were the first customers. It looks like if you arrive before 12 p.m., there's no wait. After that, people start lining up. The food was on par with other Boiling Point locations. Service was fast, and everything tasted good. Overall, a solid spot. I went here on Saturday and the wait was over an hour which was not surprising because it was cold and sprinkling that day. Usually when the weather is cooler and rains, the wait is usually longer. Once I got seated, I ordered the Mild Beef hot pot and honey green milk tea. My honey green milk tea was very sweet so note to self, next time, ask for less sweet. My mild beef hot pot was really flavorful and the portion was more than enough. Sadly, they didn't give us the chia tea jelly at the end. Boiling point just isn't the same anymore. At first they increased the price, but they also gave more meat but now its expensive and back to normal meat portions. The spicy fermented tofu wasnt as good as it was before. It was just spicy tofu. Nothing stinky about it. Their sauce container got better but the spoon is still small so you have to scoop alot to fill the sauce dish, But they have shrunk that as well and i live soy garlic and bean paste for dipping. Its been a few years since they made their mild as spicy as their medium back then. Now its not too bad. I usually get no spice but i was able to handle the mild this tine. At least they still give free tea for lunch. The thing they gave at the end also isnt as good as before. We were all craving hot pot for lunch one day so we decided to try Boiling Point with my SIL. Portions are large here but the food itself is underwhelming, the broth is too spicy, the staff are pretty inattentive, and the prices are high so I'm not sure we'd come again. Drinks are good though. For our lunches we all got the Beef soup at the mild spice level. The portions are generous and each soup comes with tons of add ins like tomato, corn, mushroom, tofu and tofu skins, meat ball, fish cake, imitation crab, and a few little veggie options. The tofu and veggies were decent. And while the portion of beef provided was impressive, much of it was extremely chewy and fibrous so wasn't very enjoyable.  The mild spice level was still very spicy - so much so that it masks any potential flavor in the broth. And the water refills were infrequent so that made it worse lol. They were extremely busy so it's understandable - but maybe they should consider water pitchers at each table or a central water station that's self-serve.  Each person gets their own burner stove at the table - but there's not a way to adjust the temperature and the soup is just constantly boiling heavily and overcooking everything so I really didn't like that.  For our drinks, my SIL got a green tea (iced) that comes with the lunch and said she really enjoyed it. Hubby and I shared a brown sugar ginger tea (hot) and it had a nice flavor overall - very ginger-forward - hubby loved it but it was too sweet for my liking. The drinks were definitely the win of our experience lol. Staff were friendly when available but definitely seemed overwhelmed. The vibes are minimalist and cafeteria-like. And the tables are packed tight so it gets very noisy and feels overcrowded. They have a small parking lot to the side and there's also street parking in the area. read more

The broth is flavorful, the portions are satisfying, and everything comes out quickly. The service is consistently good, and the staff are efficient even when it's busy. That's not easy to maintain. Came here with a friend for lunch yesterday. This was our first-time trying this eatery chain. We got the mild beef soup (5/5) and the non-spicy Japanese Miso soup (5/5). Both were delicious. Parking in their small parking lot was easy since we arrived early (around 11:10 AM) and noticed that there's convenient street parking as well if you come early. One of my favorite places to get hot pot! I basically only come here during lunch time (for that free drink). Looks like there isn't a lot of food until you start eating it. Also the jelly they give you at the end is one of the best parts ! It is super tasty and refreshing! Portions are but the service is meh. Seems like all locations have poor service. They did run out or did not have the mutton though, which I was disappointed about. They also ran out of rice so we had to get noodles. They let you get extra cilantro + scallion herbs to sprinkle on your soup, but they ran out after giving two portions for the 6 of us to share. Service was pretty good despite how busy they were. They accommodated our requests for the promotion on how to charge the gift cards. The promo was get one free hot pot when you buy a $50 GC (that doesn't expire). I came here for my birthday because I heard Boiling Point gives a free hot pot + drink if it's your birthday with no purchase necessary. Obviously, I was very enticed by their free birthday deal, so I went along with my mother. Both of us ordered the Lamb hot pot, non-spicy. As for my free birthday drink, I got the Cha Jelly Milk Tea. However, we came during lunch hours, and you can get a free wintermelon tea or green tea! So my mom got the wintermelon tea. Our orders came pretty quickly, and I would say everything was pretty good! Our hot pots were tasty as everything was seasoned well! Although, surprisingly, I thought the meat tasted kinda bland, so I had to dip it in sauce. I really enjoyed my milk tea too, it was perfectly sweet and milky, had a strong tea flavor, and the jelly toppings were nice! I tried my mom's wintermelon tea, and that was good too, although a bit too sweet at first, but once the ice melted, it became perfect! Overall, I had a great birthday lunch here! To be honest, I wouldn't come here if it wasn't my birthday because I think the prices are a bit expensive for the portion of food you get. Both times I ordered here the amount shown on the tip screen was different from what they charged me. The tip percentage that they display also does line up with the actual amount it should be. Came for Chinese New Year dinner. There was a promotion online of free rice upgrade to the tomato beef for the month of February so that was nice of the chain. But this location lacks attention to detail. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed on a weekday night for dinner. Service was really kurt and seemed focused on getting people in and out. FOOD: House Special Hot Soup - $19.73 (3.5/5) This jsut got everything in it, meat wise, it got sliced pork, fish cake, meatballs, clams, quail eggs, etc. The meat was a bit overcooked (but it is served under an open fire, so you can extinguish it whenever. Come during lunch time for a cheaper meal and you also get a BOGO orange green tea! Anyway, this spot is the same everywhere and you cant really expect too much. If you are gonna be spending 20$ though, you are better off going somewhere else for tastier food. Service was great though! Not too long of a wait. Today was the second time I had lunch at this Boiling Point. My friend and I came at noon and were quickly seated. We both ordered seafood and tofu hot soup, mild. I ordered the same as the last time, because I truly enjoyed it down to the last drop of soup. The seafood and tofu hot soup comes with pork slices, 2 shrimps, 2 kinds of fish balls, cuttlefish rings, 2 tiny clams, fish fillet, tofu, mushrooms, vermicelli, an egg, and green veggies. The soup is served over open flame and is literally boiling. You get a choice of either a bowl of rice or noodles. I got the rice, and no extra charge when I ask for the second bowl. The 3 kinds of dipping hot sauces are very delicious and addictive. Each order of hot pot comes with complimentary iced sweet green tea. Service was prompt. The waitress offered to refill the broth before we even had to ask someone. The restaurant isn't very large, but pretty comfortable. We were seated by the windows, and I prefer this over sitting in the middle. Parking lot is limited, but luckily I was able to get a parking spot on San Gabriel Blvd. 2 hours free parking. (You can just show the social posts to redeem on insta @boilingpointgroup ). I finally decided to try the new rose milk hotpot flavor ($19.98 dinner). It reminds me of the seafood hotpot since it had shrimp, fish, and and reg tofu. It also comes with pork and Udon, with cabbage being the main veggies inside, with interesting but delicious additions of green beans, reminiscent of SEA cooking them in coconut milk. Ingredients aside, the broth flavor has a light, seafood flavor, and creaminess from the milk. The rose part mostly just adds fragrance and doesn't mess with the taste. The overall taste is savory, not sweet and savory. Nothing too avant garde nor too mind blowing either; still prefer some of the other soup flavors more. Spicy Cumin Lamb ($7.01/"free") was delicious. It is basically a side of cooked la b garnied in cumin and sauce. I liked it! I ordered the beef hot pot mild spicy and it tastes exactly the same as I remember. The broth is rich and the ingredients inside are well balanced. I would recommend mild spicy for most people, because the medium spice level is a little too much for me to enjoy. The price has gone up a bit, but they now advertise double meat, which helps justify it. They also offer a free green tea or winter melon tea during lunch, so it's worth coming before 3pm. Their parking lot is small but there is street parking in front of their establishment. It's always busy in here and the food will always be the same. Make sure to download the app to get some points. There is double points on the 15 and 30 of the month when you eat. Additionally when you go during lunch there is green tea or winter-melon juice included in your meal. The place had some music going and is a good place to get a cozy warm meal, it's just a bit unsanitary is all. Stopped by this Boiling Point on a Thursday around 6:30 PM. No wait at all when I got there, and it stayed pretty empty the whole time. There's some street parking and a small lot, which is nice. First time at this location, but I've been to the old San Gabriel one, Monterey Park, and Irvine ones before. Honestly, they're all pretty similar--food is consistent, service is just OK. FYI, they won't seat you unless your whole party is there. I got the No. 1, mild spice, with rice. The spice level was super light, so if you like heat, you'll definitely want to ask for more or add some of the sauces at the table (they have four options, a couple that are spicy). If you order vermicelli noodles, it now comes in a packet that you can toss in yourself. The portion size is good with plenty of meat, but I do wish it came with more veggies. I usually go for the No. 1 because it has intestine and fermented tofu--definitely not for everyone, but I'm into those stronger flavors. Food came out at a decent pace. As for service, they take your order and that's pretty much the last you see of them. Inside is super plain. Just tables and chairs, nothing really going on decor-wise. At the end they give you a little aiyu jelly pack, which is a nice, but I still miss the basil seed lemonade they used to hand out. It was so much more refreshing. Boiling Point is my go to whenever I'm craving for something hot and soupy. It was my first time dining at this BP location since they moved here. Their parking lot is pretty small. We were lucky and took the last spot available otherwise we would've had to do street parking. Wait time wasn't too bad considering we came on a Saturday night. We arrived around 5:40 pm and got seated around 6 pm. We ordered 3 bowls to split between 4 people. My go to is the beef bowl. I ordered it mild this time and it was pretty spicy. I think I'll stick with no spicy from now on. I feel like their mild differs every time. Sometimes it really is mild, other times it tastes like my tongue is on fire. Now I understand the bad reviews despite the tasty food. We got "mild" beef bowl. Keep in mind, Mild has a kick. It's spicy enough for teens to not finish it. When I got mine I realized this and told them it's too spicy. The manager said that since it's almost done, they wouldn't allow for me to return it, but I had to tell them my teenager cannot eat spicy food. That they really should mention mild means spicy. It is my fault for reading the menu, but I also feel like there is a responsibility from the wait staff to tell you. Especially if you see children.
