    Royal Galbijjim
    Monica Y.

Found this hole in the wall tucked inside a small plaza of its own. The interior is clean with traditional Korean themed wallpaper decor. Server is super friendly and quick to service! Wrote this review after giving it 3 tries, trying almost 50% of the menu. And I have to say, each visit does NOT disappoint! The portion is HUGE and flavorful! some dishes are nostalgic and make you feel like you're eating at home with meals cooked by a Korean grandma homey vibe Hands down my favorite is their royal Galbijjim it's not spicy so even kids can enjoy it! The meat is so tender it literally is already off the bone, the pumpkin adds a nice touch of sweetness, the rice cake covered in the sauce is epic! You HAVE to come try for yourself! There's so many variety of food that you'll sure to find one that you love

Located in an obscure little plaza with plenty of parking, the restaurant was neat and clean with great service. It filled up quickly on a Saturday evening, but the relatively small number of tables and the seating arrangement was intuitive to attentive service! However, we unfortunately found the food a bit lacking. I made a reservation to try this place with my whole family for Mother's Day. We ordered the signature large pork galbi jjim, pancake platter, army stew, and dumpling rice cake soup. It was the perfect amount of food for five adults and one child. They also gave us five bowls of rice, even though we didn't really need/eat it (kind of a waste). To my surprise, the pancakes and the dumpling rice cake soup that we ordered for the child ended up being my favorites out of these dishes. The flavor of the galbi jjim was great, but it was such a shame that the marinade didn't fully get into the pork. Within that dish, the rice cakes and the outside of the meat were delicious while the inside of the meat was dry and flavorless. This might have been because the meat was too thick. The army stew flavor I found lacking, possibly because I also found their kimchi to be not salted enough. The sausages in there were flavorless. I was disappointed, since army stew is a classic that I always thought was hard to get wrong. We technically did also order a fifth dish, the bulgogi, but since they forgot the order until we asked when we were already almost done with the meal, we asked them to cancel it. Overall, it was a decent enough experience, but I probably wouldn't come back :( The price point is too expensive for the quality, and there is no shortage of good Korean food in the area.

Enormous portion size. Essentially expect 2 times more food than what you're thinking right now. Also comes with several side dishes that are very tasty. The nangmyeung and stonebowl bibimbop are both pretty good. Coming back to try all of their galbi and crab dishes!

Food was decent--- but price, can't be justified. Then again this is the norm these days at Korean Restaurants. I just feel... For maybe two pounds of Bones in Short Ribs in a Pot Roast Style...it dont make sense....100 a pop? You could mix your own sauce...pears, ginger, scallions, mirin, soy sauce, sugars. Gochujang...mind you I didn't even bother looking up the recipe but based on the flavor profile, I'd assume those were the core ingredients before you kind of sauteed all the beef until blood starts leaking out of the bones.... Anyways, I left the place bittersweet. On one end, I'm really full... Potato Cheese Pancake that was a cross between a hash brown, mochi, and pancake drenched in Honeycomb syrup,...and a large plate of pot roast, which felt more like a Rice Cake, Potato Carrots Medley and some bits of Beef Ribs...sauce was minimal, potatoes were on the drier side, I just don't know what to say about the Galbi dish....it felt lacking, and at that price point unless you topped it off with gold flakes white truffles, I feel if I just made an entire pot at home, my friends would be more impressed. Overall everything taste wise was a solid 7.5/10. Ban Chans were well sourced. But factor in the price, book value to product ratio, id rate the score a 6/10. Service was solid. My final thoughts, I don't know who came up with the idea such a dish should be valued at 3x...maybe Sun Nong Dan....but if you ran a central kitchen, braised your own Beef Chucks and Beef Shanks in High Pressure Pot, I think you can easily reach the same results at 1/3 the cost, more people would be able to experience it, it can be served individually rather than in a group and you reach a vast bigger audience. I don't know. Food for thought!

We were excited to find a place that serves a wide variety of Korean dishes. However it was a little disappointed when my dolsot bibimbop (hot plate rice) came on a cold plate. They forgot to heat up the hot plate! Other than that, the other dishes that we ordered were good. The side dishes were pretty yummy. We especially enjoyed the potato dish. Seating was a bit tight with tables next to each other. And the 4 top table is kind of small for 4 people.

Tried this place with the family for dinner on Tuesday night. They are pretty hidden in a small plaza. There was plenty of parking, probably because it's a weekday. It was empty when we went in. There was one employee who was very attentive and friendly. Seating is spacious and ambiance is clean and quiet. We ordered four dishes to try: -Galbi Tang ($25.99): comes with one big bone with a good amount of tender beef, savory broth, and some glass noodles at the bottom. Wish they gave a bowl of rice. 4/5 -Yangji Seolleongtang ($17.99): after adding some salt and pepper, it was perfect. Comes with some slices of brisket and glass noodles. Also wish they gave a bowl of rice. 4/5 -Bulgogi bibimbap ($21.99): comes with bulgogi, fried egg, carrots, bean sprouts, spinach, and zucchini and sesame oil and gochujang on the side. Could use some more rice and beef. 4/5 -Tonkatsu ($19.99): two cuts of chicken that could've been more crispy but their sauce was very good in a tangy way. Comes with rice, salad, and pickled radish. 4/5 Overall decent portions with yummy side dishes. They also serve iced water and hot barley tea. I would come back again!

While in town for a short work trip, a friend invited my wife and I for dinner at Hangang. We were able to get seated right away and it started to fill out shortly after. They have a variety of Korean dishes (soups, noodles, stews, stuff cooked a cast iron pans). The food was really good (particularly the kimchi tofu stew, the spicy squid and the soup with chicken and ginseng and herbs). We enjoyed our meal and our friend packed up leftovers. The food was pretty good, my main concern was while we were eating there was an unreasonable among of small flies/fruit flies that were flying around and flying toward and in our food. We were dining inside in an open dining area, the staff also seemed to have bug light/zappers by the front counter. It was also an exceptionally hot day that (90 degrees in the afternoon on a Friday afternoon in February), and they weren't like bigger bugs/pests so we kept on eating and completed our meal. While fruit flies aren't a big deal, I hope they improve that part and I would go again.

Came here to celebrate my brother's birthday with the family and we had a great experience overall. We ordered the royal galbijim, mix seolleongtang with added octopus, spicy cold noodle, and the seafood pancake. The food was honestly amazing. The flavors were rich and comforting, and the meat quality really stood out. I would even say the meat and seasoning were better than Sun Nong Dan. The royal galbijim was tender and packed with flavor. The only issue was that they forgot to include the octopus in the dish at first. When we let them know, they brought the octopus out separately, but it was just boiled. We had expected it to come back simmered together with the galbijim. It was still good, just not what we thought it would be. The mix seolleongtang had a nice, clean broth, but the meat portion was a bit sparse. We also had to ask for spring onions instead of them being provided from the start. Not a huge deal, but something to note. The spicy cold noodle was refreshing with a good kick, and the seafood pancake was crispy on the outside and soft inside, loaded with seafood. Service was amazing. The staff was attentive, friendly, and generous with the banchan refills. The ambiance is modern with nice decor, and it is quiet enough to have an easy conversation without feeling rushed or crowded. Parking is easy with a large free lot, which is always a plus in this area. Overall, despite a couple small hiccups, we had a great time and really enjoyed the food. We will definitely be back to try more dishes.

We got a variety of dishes. Overall everything was good. We got the Teok Mandoo Guk, Haemulpajun, royal japchae, and cold noodle soup. The dumpling for cake soup though was good but it got salty once it cooled down. The sides were wonderful. The service was excellent, the real MVP of this place. However, it dawned on me later: the food came out really fast. Not sure if it's fresh or pre-made. Up to your discretion.

First of all, thank you for not turning us away 15 minutes before closing. Finally a real place in the 626 serving comfort Korean food. Real ban chan. Food is tasty. The location is off where normal restaurants are, but this is a very solid and worthy Korean restaurant. Must try! The prices are very very good for the amount of food you get.

Normally I'll have to drive all the way to ktown for soy sauce marinated crab. I was browsing on Yelp and came across this one nearby. I made a reservation for dinner, but they weren't busy at all on a Friday night. Well lit place, plenty of tables, and parking was easy to find. It was just two people and we ordered Soy Sauce Marinated Crab and Abalone Porridge. There were noodles that came with Soy Sauce Marinated Crab. Never had it like that before but I am not complaining! Salty and meaty crabs over rice...yum! Abalone Porridge was huge. Mellow, you can taste the sesame oil. Good on a cold day. Side dishes were different and I appreciate the variety. They taste better than most common side dishes you get at other Korean restaurant in the area. I love gold utensils instead of your typical silver ones. Utensils and napkins can be found at the side of the table, just pull out the drawer. Complimentary dessert was ice cream but we were given red bean mochi? The staff said it was ice cream. Staffs are friendly and one of them helped me pack my food for to go. I would stop by again and try other dishes!

Absolutely amazing Korean restaurant! The service was fast. The side dishes were mostly tasty. The kimchi was my favorite, not soggy and too bland. The pickles were a mediocre, not much flavor, compared to the kimchi. The fish cake was good, not hard, and fishy. The mashed potatoes had apples in them just like how my mom made them when I was little. The other potato was saturated with a sweet and savory sauce and was cooked through. The purple rice was a little dry. The pork came with crunchy spicy pickled radish, that was such a great combo! The meat was very tender and I could feel the collagen on my lips. The beef was also very tender and flavorful, not too sweet and had just the right amount of fat. Didn't have a chance to try the ginseng chicken broth but my nephew finished most of it so I'm assuming it was good The cold noodles had a bunch of pickled radish and some sliced meat in there, more ingredients than other Korean restaurants. Overall fairly priced and clean restaurant with friendly staff. Parking was an ease also, don't have to drive all the way to K-town anymore. Yay!

The atmosphere of the restaurant and servers were really nice. i would say it's a little too bright. The menu have your average common Korean comfort food that is very suitable for winter times. We had a small party so we can only try a few things. The Korean ginseng soup with rice and the bossam (boiled pork belly). However, there's definitely in need of some flavor in the food. The bossam was flavorless unless you use the miso sauce. The side dishes are also very mediocre, but I can feel they are very home-made and healthy. They will need to up their game in order to stay in the competition in this area.

We dined-in, and we ordered the mung bean pancake, boneless chicken with soy garlic, and half chicken with honey butter. Total was $45.27 (including tax, before tip). While waiting for our order, we were given pickled radishes and the sauce for our mung bean pancake. I really enjoyed the pickled radishes, they were nicely sweet and sour. It took around 10 mins for our order to come out. Mung bean pancake: I absolutely loved the mung bean pancake. It was my first time ever trying it, and it was so crispy and yummy. I love mung beans, so it was great. By itself, the pancake is great, but the sauce that came with it elevated it. It's also a huge portion too! Half chicken with honey butter: This was so crispy and juicy! The honey butter flavor is so unique! I do think it's a bit too sweet for me, but I enjoyed it still. Boneless with soy garlic: I enjoyed the soy garlic flavor more than the honey butter! This was very crispy and tasty too, but not as juicy as the half chicken. Overall, everything was so delicious. All of us enjoyed it! I do prefer bone-in chicken, so I'd probably just get that the next time I come here. I definitely would get the mung bean pancake again too.
