Came here so many times over the past several months. The service has improved drastically within the past 1 or 2 months or so for some reason and I'm definitely not complaining. The staff actually follows up now and checks up on you lol, while in the past you literally had to physically go to them and wave them down. Melany was the best waitress. Great spot to share or even eat by yourself. We went for memorial day weekend dinner and had no problems getting seated right away. My friends had been here multiple times so I let them decide what to order. We got the Taiwanese Spicy hot soup and the Japanese Miso hot soup both with wok noodle and egg add-ons to share between 4 people. Also got a bowl of rice for each of us. The food came out quickly and already super hot. Their signature miniature wok on a box made things simple and clean. Each broth was different and the contents of the soup were plenty enough to share between two people. I go here at least once a week! Beef is my usual, it's perfect with an extra side of fried tofu skin. My only complaint would be that they tend to forget items or sauces. I would always check to be sure for takeout. I love my sauces, so when I decide to buy more and with them forgetting, it's disappointing when I get home. I been to a lot of boiling point locations, this is my favorite by far. The service is excellent compared to the other ones. Staff is nice and attentive. They actually know what they are doing. They had good recommendations for the soup. The soup came out quickly. Fresh vegetables and meats. Be sure to arrive early as they close for dine in around 8ish on the weekends when it's busy. Only thing I wish was consistent was the boba. Depending on the worker, the tea doesn't always taste right. Make sure you are specific on what you want exactly. Solid place for individual hot pot! We got the lamb and korean paste in medium spicy, both on point for the flavors. I love spicy, so I'd do a medium for a personal "mild", but would probably bump up to spicy next time. I used to go to O Young Rock Pot before it closed, and this helps me out for premade hotpot craving! Only thing I wish it allowed for more individual picking of the veggies/meats the way O young does. For example, I wish I could have had bok choy instead of taro in my lamb pot. Boiling Point is just a set menu of ~10 different pots, though it looks like you could add extra items. Love that lunch hour goes until 3pm, comes with free tea and ~$1 cheaper than dinner price! A quick glance shows the negative review theme is for wait and service which I would not be surprised by lol, but didn't personally experience as I came on Mon late lunch so got seated immediately since the place was half empty. Went there a little over an hour before they closed, and had to wait for two other people since they were running late. There were only one or two other parties besides us waiting outside. The person checking parties in was unnecessarily rude when she told us she will only wait 10 minutes for the rest of the party to show up or we must give up our table. Of course we understood the situation and we had no problem with it, but it's poor customer service to talk to guests like they're a huge inconvenience. Just say whatever you gotta say with a smile, no need to give an attitude. We had asked at least two servers/food runners for water until the third person finally got cups for us. They ran out of Lamb and Organic Veggie hot pot, which was disappointing but not a major factor in my rating. The cumin lamb and House Special hot pot were okay. Its a very small restaurant and it gets very busy we arrived at 445pm aprox and as right now theres a waiting list . We ordered the House special hot soup, seafood&tofu hot soup, beef hot soup and their Lamb soup . We enjoyed all of them but my favorite was the beef and the lamb , i asked for mild and i they were more on the spicy side but they were good. This is one of those places that for some reason makes me want to come back over and over again...mostly when it is cold and rainy outside. The food is delicious (I usually get the curry boiling soup) and has lots of meat for the meat-lovers. The service is fine, nothing out of this world. The lunch menu includes a choice of green or black iced tea (not sure if dinner does as well as I have not been here that late). Watch out because you may splash on yourself if not careful. The soup is literally boiling, but you can ask the server to turn the flame off from under your bowl if it gets too crazy. I always ask for the bowl of rice. We have been coming to this Taiwanese hotpot restaurant whenever I am craving for soup. The line to get a table tends to last about 45 minutes, if not longer. Adding to the bustling atmosphere is the modern décor. The vertical arrangement of light fixtures, booths, and tables appeared comfortable and yet closely stacked together. Their menu includes 10 individualized hotpot options, with ingredients tightly stacked, assembled, and served boiling hot. Each hotpot also comes with rice and 2 sweet drinks to clean the palate. The House Special Hot Soup ($10.99) came with napa cabbage, stinky tofu, pork, enoki, pork meat ball, clam, quail egg, pork blood rice cake, pork intestine, garlic chives, preserved vegetables, tomato, and cilantro. The stinky tofu needed stronger flavors, but otherwise I enjoyed the pork blood rice cake and chewy intestine. The veggies added some depth to the savory disposition. The preserved vegetables accompanied well with the pork. The Taiwanese Spicy Hot Soup ($14.99) included cabbage, instant noodles, beef, fish cake, enoki, clam, fish balls, cuttlefish rings, pork intestine, pork blood cake, fried tofu skin, maitake mushrooms, tofu cubes, green onion, and cilantro. Interested diners need to be aware that the food tends to overcook in these already assembled hotpots. In particular, the overcooked instant noodles were counter-intuitive to its purpose in a hotpot. The scores of mushrooms added some texture, but the beef slices were already dried out by the time I get to them at the bottom. I loved the spicy savory broth, but wished I could cook each ingredient individually to control for freshness and texture. The Lamb Hot Soup ($10.99) came with napa, vermicelli, lamb, enoki, imitation crab, kamaboko, pork blood rice cake, maitake mushrooms, clams, pickled mustard greens, fried tofu skin, firm tofu, fish cake, egg, green onion, and cilantro. The lamb soup was delicious, especially when accompanied with the pickled mustard greens. I also enjoyed the support ingredients, especially the pork blood rice cake. Again, everything tends to overcook due to the temperature of the broth, but this particular hotpot was one of my favorites. The Seafood Tofu Hot Soup ($10.99) came with bok choy, shrimp, pork, enoki, mushrooms, tofu, octopus, clam, cuttlefish ring, fish fillet, fish balls, vermicelli, egg, and green onion. The broth was much lighter than the aforementioned, but still flavorful given its subtleties. There were plenty to like about the seafood and tofu. It is a solid option for those looking for a lighter meal. They also have a Spicy Stinky Tofu appetizer, and a list of ingredients to add to the hotpot. We also find the Taiwanese dipping sauce sweet, spicy, and addictive, and decided to bring a bottle ($4.50) to use at home. Service can be a hit or miss, but friendly and responsive when you have their attention. 1 Star... Because the service was horrible! Despite all the negative reviews I still decided to give this place a try. It just opened up and I'm always down to try something new. From our first step into the restaurant, we felt like we were on the show Boiling Points! Incident #1 My family walks in and the place is half empty with several waiters hanging around with nothing to do. Host "How many?" Us "Five" Host "OH WOW! Big Party!" *awkward* Because 5 is a huge party? Incident #2 Seated right away...but we were only given 2 menus (for a party of 5). Fun! Incident# 3 Less than 2min later (not giving us a real chance to look at the menu) the waiter comes by and asks if we wanted any suggestions. He proceeds to say, "Girls usually order the Seafood Soup or the Vegetable Soup. And boys order the blah blah blah" I didn't know soups could be so sexist. Take those 2 off the "macho" list. Incident# 4 During the drink orders we each decided to order a different boba. The waiter gave a "face" when someone ordered the Milk Tea Boba. Then suggested that we not order it because lack of "flavor".LOL! Then take it off the menu or let people order whatever they want to order! The drinks came at different times. Some people were almost done with their soup when their drink finally arrived. Someone ordered an Oreo Shake Boba and the waitress tried to give us a Chocolate Shake Boba! Quail Eggs - Clearly on the menu...but the waiter was in such disbelief that he asked us to show him where it was on the menu! LOL! Hard to give chains like BP over 3 stars but I thought this location deserved an extra one for service. My friend and I came pretty late so there was just a small line. We actually left to get boba and came back but our name was already called three times woops LOL they seated us right away though. My friend ordered the beef and I got the Japanese miso and we both shared fish tofu and kamaboko (the pink fishcake). The fish tofu is so good and my favorite thing to get at ANY hot pot place. Service was also good and they gave us extra basil seed desserts when we asked for it!! I know people complain about the service here pretty often, but I've never had a problem. I usually go to Boiling Point on like early weekday afternoons, so it's never really busy. I'm usually one of the few weirdos that want to eat hot soup all alone in the middle of summer days, so there's usually no problem getting seated right away. I decided to stop by for a late dinner on a Saturday night, so imagine my surprise when it was way more packed than when I usually come. I actually had to wait a whole 20 minutes to be seated! Lol. Service is always super fast here. No matter what kind of soup you get, it's always on your table, boiling hot, in under 5 minutes. Sometimes the servers can be curt, but it's no big deal. They are usually willing to assist you right away. but this time, being the klutz that I am, I spilled my water cup all over my table. it took a few minutes for someone to come over and clean it up, but like i said, it was a busy Saturday night. So no hard feelings. The soup is always spot on. Not too salty. Full of variety. And super filling. Don't be afraid to ask for more soup water if it gets too low. I usually get the beef or kimchi soup. I tried the Hokkaido Milk tea for the first time this time, too. There's a reason it's the number one recommended flavor. It's possibly my new favorite milk tea flavor around. The little basil seed drink dessert is nice too. Big negative is the long wait. Once I got past that the experience was pretty great! This was the first time I've had these super decked out individual hot pots, and I'm addicted! I got the taiwanese spicy hot pot, which is extra large ($15.99), and came with a free bubble tea! Soup flavor was great, and better than anything I've had in a long while.. The hot pot had almost everything you can think of, including tofu, stinky tofu, imitation crab, clam, mushroom, intestine, tofu skin, fish cake, etc etc etc. All very delicious.. even the intestine, which I almost never eat. And the box underneath the soup had a flame keeping everything boiling fresh! In the future, I'll pass on the side of spicy fermented tofu. Just way too much food.. Service was really great when I wait (despite reviews to the contrary). Once you get started you really don't need much service. He also gave me false expectations saying that I'll be in 15 minutes which turned into 40 minutes. The northeast corner of Redondo Beach Bl and Western should be renamed "Soup Plaza"! For sure it does not lack places to have steaming bowls of soup or noodles or tofu. So on the night before Valentine's Day and the weather decide to take an early counter to the next day's hot passion by drop the Fahrenheit's we decided to try out Boiling Point at Soup Plaza. Boiling Point specializes in Chinese/Taiwanese (depending which side of the strait you pledge allegiance to) hot pot soups. Launching from 7 basic soups from the House Special to the Tomato & Veggie, the hot soups can be ignited up to 6 levels of spiciness and a whole host of what they called "Perfect Add-on". I went for the Lamb Hot Soup, $9.99, at level 5 "Very Spicy" and added Spicy Fermented (Stinky) Tofu, $3.50. Each caldron of hot luscious soup came atop its own steno fire pot. This pyrotechnic apparatus was placed on the table in front of me filled with an abundant mixture of lamb, fresh and pickled veggies, mushrooms, a raw egg, and tofu. A bowl of vermicelli and my Spicy tofu came on the side. After dunking the two into the boiling goodness and stirring the egg into its depths, I sat back to enjoy. And enjoy I did. The level 5 spiciness took me to the brink, I was pushing the envelope, but the complex flavors of the seasoning and all of the veggies, Add-on, and meat took me to the next level. Boiling Point with its trendy décor catered to the young and the beautiful, but really - Styrofoam cups? That's just half steppin'. Next time? I never wanted to set foot in this place ever again. But my experience the second time around was much better. We came on a late Wednesday night and we waited for maybe 15-20 minutes. Boyfriend ordered the house special with noodles whereas I ordered the beef soup with instant noodles. Also ordered the Hokkaido milk tea Yelp reviewers seem to always talk about. The beef soup HIT. THE. SPOT. A lot more flavorful than the house special. Also discovered the chili and garlic sauce dip. MERCY. Wish we knew the first time. Ever since I moved back down to LA, I have always wanted to try all the hyped up spots and BOILING POINT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The first time I came here, I got the Tawainese Spicy Hot Soup and it was soooo good. It only comes in flaming spicy and I was basically crying when I ate this, but I definitely did not regret it. I usually ask my server to keep my pot unlit so that it will be easier to eat. Ever since then, I've been coming back every week (or sometimes twice a week) because I always start to crave it again. None of the other hot soups really appeal to me except for the Taiwanese one, however, when I came back here on Sunday, I decided to try something new because I didn't feel like paying $15.99 for hot pot, so I ordered the Seafood&Tofu Hot Soup ($11.99) and it was just as good. It was a lot smaller than the Taiwanese one, but it was just as filling. The only downside about this place is that the wait gets pretty long, no matter the day of the week but it's definitely worth the wait for me. The food comes out relatively fast and the service is great. During lunch time they also include either green or black tea as part of your meal and it's definitely worth the price! Plain and simple....the wait is too long, even at 5:30 pm. The staff is not helpful until you sit down, I don't need to be coddled, I just need to know that you want and value me as a customer. Personally, I don't like to be rushed when I'm eating, however, the staff didn't efficiently service the clients to get them the check and so that they could courteously not sit and chat AFTER the meal for 20 minutes. When we finally got seated, even planned what we were going to order while we waited so we didn't 1. have to wait longer or 2. have to make everyone waiting after us wait any longer. They were good when taking our order, they were friendly and very courteous at this point. 5 minutes later, the cook came out to tell me they had run out of the paste for the Thai pot. How do you run out of something at 6:30 in the evening on your busiest night????? It's not even near closing time!!! I finally decided on getting the seafood pot, it was good, but MAN, I really wanted the Thai one. The saving grace, the reason it got 2 stars instead of 1, was the Hokkaido boba. It was delicious! I'd try this place again just to have another one. I guess when you're THIS busy and THIS popular, there's no need for customer service. It just left me with a bad taste in my mouth, I REALLY wanted to like this place because my friends always tell me how GOOD the food is. This is in a popular mall with lots of tasty places to eat. There's lot's of parking but you might have to walk a bit. Which is not a bad thing, cause it seems like you might just be rolling out of the place. read more

I would always pass by Boiling Point and end up choosing a different place to eat because there was always a long wait! Not too many hot pot places in the area, so that is understandable. I ordered the beef, which had some sliced angus beef, tofu, corn, tempura, and a variety of small vegetables. I also ordered some add ons like udon. My hot pot was very satisfying; I could imagine enjoying it more on a cold day. The beef was tasty, and the broth was good. I also had a small macaron ice cream dessert after. The wait would be my only complaint, but I can see why people always come here. Service was good considering how crowded it was. It's not something I would wait in line for again, but I would definitely love to eat more hot pot. read more

The food was good but the place was dirty. Chairs filthy, walls dirty, lamps above our heads has visible dust (can fall into our food and heads!) the restroom had no soap or paper towels too! They just opened up outdoor dining but I presume they'll be closing it again. I've gotten takeout from this location and out of all the BP's I've been to, this location's take out is hands down the BEST. It's so good I always forget to take a picture before I eat it! You would assume BP's quality diminishes through takeout but that's not the case. The soup is filled to the brim, they give you just enough sauce but not too much. Utensils such as chopsticks, soup spoon, napkin, and toothpick is provided and the fact that they include a soup spoon just makes me appreciate them so much more! I've gotten takeout from this location three times in one week, if that doesn't prove how much I love this place, idk what would. read more

This place never gets old! It's the best hot pot I've has so far and I come here frequently regardless of the weather. Wait times to get packed, so make sure you come at a random hour if you can. Most of the dining tables only accommodate 2-3 people, so coming with a big group isn't exactly ideal, but still possible. They close late too which is always a plus. I always order the Beef Hot Pot in medium which has enough of a kick in it for me. There are so many ingredients and so much flavor. You get a choice of rice or noodles, but the hot pot already has vermicelli in it, so I always get the rice. The sauces on the table make the whole meal complete. I usually mix all three and dip the food in there.Their lunch special is great too because it comes with your choice of black or green iced tea, which is refreshing while eating something so hot and spicy. 10/10 everytime :) read more

The servers here are always attentive even when it's super busy. They're always friendly and professional. The food is amazing. Spice levels are pretty intense. Even though I like spicy foods, I only get medium and add more spice if I want so order a level down than you usually do just to be safe! Eating in store is great although seats are hard and the air reeks of the burning smell of the pots. You get used to it after a while. If you're not too keen about the 1hr + wait time during busy days, you also have the option to take out! It comes in a very tightly lidded bowl with sauces on the side. You get a pair of sturdy chopsticks, plastic Asian spoon (like the flat scoop looking ones), sauces on the side, and an additional side bowl with noodles or rice. For noodles, I believe you can ask them to put it in the soup so it's cooked by the time you eat it. The parking at this place can get crazy so you might have to park farther in the lot and walk over. So it might be worth it to get a number first, have your number in line sent to your phone, and then drive around to find decent parking while you wait. Prepare for a wait, even at odd hours...try 30 minutes on a Tuesday night at 9pm (true story this week). Once you're in, I'll have to say it really does feel like you're in a spot in Taiwan. Not the cleanest in there (i.e. fun marketing including the menus and table tents had slight greasy coating since they were not wiped down thoroughly, peep the "office" by the bathroom which is sure to elicit chuckles,) but I soon overlooked it given the friendly, efficient staff despite how busy it was in there...and the FOOD. I've actually never had Taiwanese hotpot so when the mini cauldrons of goodness were brought to us, I marveled at all the items that were mixed into our pots, and at such a reasonable price, too! I have to say this legit was the worst food coma I have experienced in recent memory...so careful, as the portions are more generous than they seem, and if you're adding extra toppings like I did with my shrimp (and inhaling the rice)...it's gonna be quite the gut buster. I can't explain it but there's some sort of crack that must be laced into the food there because even 12 hours later I was smacking my lips fantasizing about that meal. So good. P.S. In my attempt to expose Gooch to "other" Asian types of food, I chose Boiling Point. What I mean by other is any other Asian cuisine besides Japanese. We rolled in on a Sunday about 6:30pm. Although every table was occupied, we amazingly saw that our name would be the next one up when a table becomes available. Unfortunately, we still had to wait almost 20-25 minutes to get seated. I will explain later why the wait was so long but before I get to that, I'd like to comment of some of the other patrons who came in after us and obviously had to wait behind us. First case, to Mr. I own this place and need to check the clip board 17x to ensure that I don't get skipped. Look homeboy, when you came in and put your name down, you know you saw me standing there before you. If I have yet to move, you're probably not going to get the table before me. You checked that annoying clip board every two minutes. No one has been seated ever since your arrival nor has anyone purposely crossed out your name just to mess with you although now that I think of it, I should have done exactly that. Second case, the family that looks like they can be homeless. Yeah, you and your spawnlings are continuously staring through the window to see if anyone has gotten up yet. It's pretty awkward when all 3-4 of you have your face to the window and just staring aimlessly at the people who are trying to eat their food. Quick peep here and there, that's cool but please don't all stare like this is a zoo. If I'm piling through my food, the last thing I want to see is your ugly mug staring right at me with that look to hurry the f up. Surprise, surprise, both cases were FOBs. (x.x) Now that we have cleared that out of the way... Why does it take so long to eat a meal at Boiling Point thus causing the wait to notoriously drag? Well first, this location is small. Next, the hot pot is seriously boiling throughout the entire meal. There's no knob to turn down the heat. You can request them to put out the flame but you probably don't want to do so until the latter half of your meal. Most of the time you'll probably end up burning the top part of the roof of your mouth. I hope you're not wearing anything fancy or any light colors, because you may get soup splashed on yourself and it is highly likely that you will start perspiring throughout the meal. I really enjoy mixing all three house made sauces to eat with my hot pot. You may also purchase these bottles to go if you love it that much. The hot pot itself comes out fully loaded. Meaning no swish swish, no dipping, everything is a lava melting pot and you just eat straight from it. This style is very different from other Asian hot pot places such as Shabu Shabu or Jazzcat, where you control exactly what you want to cook at your own pace. There are about 6 options with 3 "XL" options for an extra charge of about $4 bucks because you get more food. Of all the times that I have eaten at different BPs, I have never gotten the XL hot pots. The regular sized is plenty and trust me when I say this that when I eat, I beast it. I have eaten at three different BPs in So Cali so far and I will gladly say that they all have been consistent in terms of the taste. To conclude our sizzling intense meal, I was going to order some cold "snow" dessert. Another boo boo, they didn't have any! Did the snow machine break down? Fail. Therefore Gooch and I settled for two Asian fruity ice teas to-go which was also very soothing after that hot a$$ meal. I did prefer the snow option though, plus everyone always raves about them so I wanted the homie to at least sample what the hype is all about.
