I've always seen this place whenever I stop by for Chicha, but I'm so glad I was able to finally try it! I brought my dad here since it's probably something he would like. Walking in, it's a very casual joint with a few seatings, but definitely enough. Especially how quick they serve the food here. This restaurant is also a bit more modern, so it's may be more technologically advance for Chinese elders. You order through the phone and checkout on the phone; however, I'm sure the server will help order too since they're proficient with Chinese. My dad ordered a braised pork rib bowl and I ordered a boneless yellow chicken with medium spicy. I wasn't sure what to expect, since it was my first time trying this. Our bowls were served quick and each entree comes with a bowl of rice. I only really tried my own, which was the yellow chicken and it was pretty good! It has a herbally taste to it, but it's quite flavorful. Portions are great as well. I tired the pork and it was really soft and tender, my dad really enjoyed this one a lot. We will visit here next time for a quick and easy meal.

The meat is soft so it falls right of the bones. The potatoes are steamed well and flavorful! I also recommend the shredded potatoes which is a cold dish; it is slightly spicy and crunchy. Recommend this as a great local restaurant!
I've seen Ikka many times since it's in a popular plaza, but I never tried it until recently. One night, when I couldn't decide on what to eat (the real struggle, iykyk), I decided to give it a shot. Came around 6:30 PM, and it was busy, but I snagged a small table in the corner--solo diner advantage! The concept is simple: they serve a variety of braised items in sizzling stone pots. I ordered the braised chicken and intestines pot, medium spicy, along with a side dish of cucumber, woodear, and tofu skin. The side was refreshing, but nothing special. When the pot arrived, it was sizzling hot, and the sauce was delicious--savory with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender, and the intestines were perfectly cooked. This is definitely the kind of dish that begs for a couple of bowls of rice! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to come back to try another pot. I'll definitely be adding this to my rotation.

Really liked beef and potato pot also~ the potato slices were very flavourful. The lamb pot was good as the lamb was not overly gamey. The golden soup with beef was decent, but it was a bit too salty for my liking and only had a few slices of beef. The side dishes were good~ we liked the shredded potato and seaweed. Restaurant was clean and service was efficient.

I came here with my wife for dinner to see what it was like. The AC was not on fully, so it was definitely a bit on the warmer side. It's a small hole in the wall restaurant and the service was decent. I ended up getting the boneless chicken and added a sous vide egg. My wife got the braised chicken with pork intestines. The chicken was quite tasty and the sauce was nice. The pot came with a big bowl of rice. The sous vide egg that I paid extra for, definitely complimented the chicken and the rice. The serving size was just enough for me, and I did not have any leftovers. Overall it's a solid restaurant, nothing amazing but definitely worth a try.

We chose Ikka Sizzling Pot because it reminded me of the flavors and dishes we had fallen in love with in Shanghai, and I was hoping to relive that excitement. We ordered the chicken with intestines, the lamb, and the pork ribs. Normally, when dining at Chinese restaurants in Northern California, I bring my own Thai bird's eye chilies because no matter how spicy I ask for, it's rarely enough. But not at Ikka. The food was packed with bold flavors and just the right amount of heat -- enough to work up a good sweat. I also noticed a light numbing sensation in my mouth that took the experience to another level. That's when it hit me: this was the famous Sichuan peppercorn that I had only heard about from food explorers like Sonny and Mark on YouTube during their trips to China. I've had mala hotpot and Sichuan-style dishes up north, but I've never truly experienced that signature peppercorn-induced numbing satisfaction -- until now. My wife and I finished all three dishes and couldn't help but laugh (and feel a little embarrassed) when we looked around and saw other couples sharing just one dish. But hey, don't judge us -- it was that good. Truly a life-changing food experience. If you're in San Gabriel and looking for authentic, bold, and exciting flavors, Ikka is a must-try.

This is what my mom and I got: Braised Yellow Chicken ($14.99) no spicy: This is chicken and mushroom braised in what I'm guessing is a ginger-soy sauce. It was quite good and probably meant to be eaten with rice b/c it was kinda salty. 4/5 stars Braised Pig Trotter ($15.99) no spicy: Frankly, I had zero expectations that this would turn out well b/c I've been disappointed too many times at too many restaurants before. HOWEVER, this was very well done. This sauce is richer due to the collagen and has a nice 5-spice aroma to it. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a porky collagen bomb. 4.5/5 stars This restaurant relies primarily on a QR code menu. You just order from your phone. Afterwards, they'll give you the check. I think this is a bottle neck for the business b/c people like my mom wouldn't know what to do with a QR code. So, it would be nice to have a paper menu or pictures to point. Otherwise, ordering wasn't too bad. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and had plenty of leftovers to take home. read more
Ordered: - Yellow braised beef finger meat (5/5): Got this dish regular spicy and absolutely loved it! Meat was tender with mild chew and was a huge flavor bomb especially with the sauce, rice, and peppers mixed together. Only bad thing about the dish is that I added on some baby sausages but it's essentially 1 dollar per mini sausage so that didn't feel too worth. - Yellow Braised pork ribs (4/5): My gf ordered this no spicy and also really enjoyed it. The potatoes absorb the sauce super well and the pork ribs were pretty tender and easy to eat too. We got a cold mixed bean curd salad with this which was pretty worth - the cucumbers and wood ear mushrooms really cut through the heavy flavors. Ironically the bean curd was our least favorite ingredient since it was too hard and tough to chew. Overall (4/5): Solid comfort food that's super warming. Restaurant itself is pretty cold inside and everything is pretty efficient with the QR ordering system. Service is ok - not super friendly but easy and quick to wave down if you need anything. Only thing to note is that it seems like portions of their menu are often not available so be warned if you have your eye on something in particular - it might be good to call ahead and make sure they're serving it on that day. Parking in the lot can definitely be tight and busy as there's a lot of good food and boba spots in the same plaza. read more

This restaurant is located in a plaza in San Gabriel. I really like the food. Although I don't eat much spicy food, it's still doable if I remove the chili oil from the hot pot. Actually, I didn't expect the hot pot to be this spicy but the food here is very delicious. The service was very nice. My server was very friendly. They also have Vitamilk (soy milk that is easy to find in Asia). read more

I tried the new Spicy Angus Beef and liked it. The beef is tender and juicy. The spice has a steady kick but does not burn. The sauce is savory and a little sweet. Peppers and onions add crunch and color. Each bite feels balanced and clean. The portion is solid for the price. It works with rice or noodles. Service was quick and the dish arrived hot. i've been coming here for a couple of years now,, consistent quality! the first time i tried this restaurant, i got hungry as soon as i walked through the door, because you can smell the food and flavor from the kitchen! staff are great. i got the membership early on, and it also gives you discounts on some of the dishes. my favorite small dishes are the cucumber and shredded potato. i love the yellow braised beef and lamb in particular as well!! today i got some of their newest dishes (see pictures). portions are so nice read more

Great, modern decor with ample parking like anywhere in the SGV. Service is friendly and both in English and Mandarin. Also really good place to take non Asian friends due to individual portions with flavors they could be familiar with. I ordered a braised pork combo and a sour beef pot. The combos include a corn egg drop soup and a choice of side dishes. Both orders (combo or no) come with a bowl of rice. The braised pork was pretty good; it came with potatoes and broccoli, and I think the meat portions are sufficient for the average person. However, it does seem like something I can make at home, but doesn't every person occasionally say or at least have that though when eating out? The sour and spicy beef pot was really good - it had a pretty authentic taste to it. If you're craving a sour and spicy dish, this place has it at a good price. The food came really fast, I mean within 5-10 minutes tops. I honestly have no complains about this place - treat it like a tasty pot, but with braised meats in a clay pot instead of a hot pot. Come have lunch, and unexpectedly, I bumped into the adorable egg waffles! When you don't know what to eat for lunch, this place is a great choice. The set meal includes one dish, one rice, one soup, and one cold dish. Girls can't finish it! Boys get very full! The cost-performance ratio is super high! There are many choices like ribs, chicken, beef, spicy hotpot, rice or rice noodles! There's always a flavor you will like. This time, I had the crispy pork slices, and it included tripe and preserved mustard greens, which are my favorites! Kids always go for the boneless chicken, which is super tender! Quail eggs are also a must-add every time. The golden soup beef is my teammate's favorite! This time I found they have the super popular smiling egg waffles from back home! You can choose two flavors per serving, so I picked red bean for myself and Oreo for the kid! The egg flavor is very strong! Ikka Sizzling Pot is tucked away in a plaza, and it's easily missed unless you live around the area. Although I would classify this as a hidden gem, there are two features that I didn't enjoy: 1) Communication was mostly in Mandarin, and I never heard English spoken. Be aware of this during your visit. I had to order four different times because each item I tried to order was "sold out" but I wasn't told until a few minutes after I placed each order. (So ordering took maybe 15 minutes in total of back-and-forth.) 2) I overheard conversation that one of the "sold out" items was not in fact sold out when another table ordered it... I ordered a Beef Slice with Golden Soup along with complimentary shredded potato & carrot and cold mixed seaweed. The complimentary sides were crispy, but the sour, vinegary taste wasn't too enjoyable. Compared to most, the crispy texture was impressive; the taste was alright. The entree was served with an egg drop soup side (tasty!) and rice sprinkled with black sesame seeds. The rice was luscious, and the beef very tender. The soup erred on the saltier side, but I'm glad I was able to take it home to water down. I enjoyed the various sides and spices, and it tasted better when watered down. read more

I would be a happy man if they have a branch in West LA because the quality and taste of the food from Ikka Sizzling Pot is just impeccable ! The service has always been great! Your food is served rather quickly, and the cleanliness standard is great! The place is also cozy but spacious! The Food: - Boneless Yellow Braised Chicken Combo (10/10): I have ordered this dish on multiple occasions. All I know is that the diminishing marginal returns haven't kicked in, or perhaps it's that good ! The seasoning on the dish is immaculate! The meat texture is also cooked to perfection! I also liked how they added broccoli on the dish and there is an option to add an egg for an additional charge and I recommend that you consider adding it to your pot! - Golden Chili Rice Noodle (10/10): I enjoyed this just as much. The vegetables and meat they put in this bowl were plenty and the spice of the dish was a little spicy, but addictive! I also like their quail eggs and tofu skin! Overall, I really enjoyed the food here and would HIGHLY recommend anyone who likes sizzling pots. Not to mention, I thought their pricing was reasonable and parking was easy to find (it's free parking). read more

Came here for the first time with my mom. We ordered " Yellow Braised Chicken ( Bone-In) &. Yellow Braised Pork Ribs " Both are So delicious. Nice ambiance. Moreover we got a great service from Cherry. My mom was on wheelchair, she did open the door when we entering & exiting the restaurant. She provided my mom with warm drinking water even before my mom was about to ask for it. Will definitely go back to try another dishes:) read more

Really enjoyed the carrot potato side dish and the egg drop soup. The sizzling braised chicken dishes were pretty good. It was actually too much food - the egg drop soup, the potato carrot side, bowl of rice and braised chicken dish. Definitely could not finish it. But overall it was pretty good but nothing that will blow your mind. read more

It is so yummy! The food is so flavorful and delicious! Portions are a good size. I didn't finish mine but my husband did. Having my husband say it pretty good means something. The braising sauce is the the same in both dishes. The cucumber and woodear appetizer was really good. Though it would have been a little better if the tofu skin was a little bit more softer (But that is more preference). It was the favorite of the 2 appetizers we got. Overall try them out! Love this place! Food is excellent! Great atmosphere and amazing delicious dishes. Portion is enough to fill you up! Combo option make everything easy to decide! Their signature is Braised chicken in the claypot but we ordered pork feed and braised beef which were really good as well! I enjoy spicy food so their cold side dishes were really amazing to pair with the hot claypot main entree. The sauce was delicious to pair with your rice so don't miss out one that! The only interesting part of the food is that you can either order "No spicy" or "Regular spicy" there's no such thing as mild spicy because I guess they could not control how much hotness from the chilli peppers but that could just be my guess! read more
