    Yellow braised beef

Today I ordered my favorite dishes; yellow braised beef and a Sichuan spicy beef. Favors are exquisite as always! Service here was excellent. The server was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Tables are clean.

I've always seen this place whenever I stop by for Chicha, but I'm so glad I was able to finally try it! I brought my dad here since it's probably something he would like. Walking in, it's a very casual joint with a few seatings, but definitely enough. Especially how quick they serve the food here. This restaurant is also a bit more modern, so it's may be more technologically advance for Chinese elders. You order through the phone and checkout on the phone; however, I'm sure the server will help order too since they're proficient with Chinese. My dad ordered a braised pork rib bowl and I ordered a boneless yellow chicken with medium spicy. I wasn't sure what to expect, since it was my first time trying this. Our bowls were served quick and each entree comes with a bowl of rice. I only really tried my own, which was the yellow chicken and it was pretty good! It has a herbally taste to it, but it's quite flavorful. Portions are great as well. I tired the pork and it was really soft and tender, my dad really enjoyed this one a lot. We will visit here next time for a quick and easy meal.

I come visit here all the time! My favorite is the Yellow Braised Pork Ribs. It comes with potato and broccoli. The whole pot is seasoned well and made perfectly. The meat is soft so it falls right of the bones. The potatoes are steamed well and flavorful! I also recommend the shredded potatoes which is a cold dish; it is slightly spicy and crunchy. Recommend this as a great local restaurant!

I've seen Ikka many times since it's in a popular plaza, but I never tried it until recently. One night, when I couldn't decide on what to eat (the real struggle, iykyk), I decided to give it a shot. Came around 6:30 PM, and it was busy, but I snagged a small table in the corner--solo diner advantage! The concept is simple: they serve a variety of braised items in sizzling stone pots. I ordered the braised chicken and intestines pot, medium spicy, along with a side dish of cucumber, woodear, and tofu skin. The side was refreshing, but nothing special. When the pot arrived, it was sizzling hot, and the sauce was delicious--savory with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender, and the intestines were perfectly cooked. This is definitely the kind of dish that begs for a couple of bowls of rice! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to come back to try another pot. I'll definitely be adding this to my rotation.

The pots all came sizzling hot! My favourite was the chicken and pork intestines pot, since the chicken was juicy and the pork intestines were not smelly at all. Really liked beef and potato pot also~ the potato slices were very flavourful. The lamb pot was good as the lamb was not overly gamey. The golden soup with beef was decent, but it was a bit too salty for my liking and only had a few slices of beef. The side dishes were good~ we liked the shredded potato and seaweed. Restaurant was clean and service was efficient.

What a neat new find! We got the popular Yellow Braised Chicken, as well as the new Xingjiang Golden Tomato with Pork, which is perfect for folks who like tomato. Both were delicious, and a nice combo of contrasting flavors. We look forward to being back!

My wife loves hot pot and various soup type dishes, but we saw that this "sizzling pot" restaurant was slightly different than a standard hot pot establishment. I came here with my wife for dinner to see what it was like. The AC was not on fully, so it was definitely a bit on the warmer side. It's a small hole in the wall restaurant and the service was decent. I ended up getting the boneless chicken and added a sous vide egg. My wife got the braised chicken with pork intestines. The chicken was quite tasty and the sauce was nice. The pot came with a big bowl of rice. The sous vide egg that I paid extra for, definitely complimented the chicken and the rice. The serving size was just enough for me, and I did not have any leftovers. Overall it's a solid restaurant, nothing amazing but definitely worth a try.

You can always count on me to order pork trotters whenever it's on the menu, and @ikka_sizzling_pot has a deliciously quick version, where they braise all of their meat in clay pots and are ready in only 5-10 minutes! In addition to the tasty flavor, pork trotters also provide you with collagen (benefits include maintaining healthy skin, relieving joint paint, and contributing to muscle gain) Cold side dishes and soups are also a must to balance with the very hot (temperature wise) main entrees. Bonus: spice levels can be customized for their sizzling dishes We had: Bone-In Yellow Braised Chicken, Yellow Braised Pork Trotter (bone-in), Cold Mixed Shredded Potato & Carrot, Cold Tribute Vegetables, Tremella & Pear Soup

My wife and I were visiting San Gabriel from Northern California, looking for regional Chinese dishes we hadn't tried before. On a recent trip to Southeast Asia, we had a long layover in Shanghai, where we sampled local dishes that completely changed the way we thought about Chinese cuisine. We realized there was so much more depth and variety than we had ever experienced, and we hoped to find something similar here in Southern California. San Gabriel did not disappoint -- the area is packed with incredible restaurants showcasing different Chinese regional specialties. We chose Ikka Sizzling Pot because it reminded me of the flavors and dishes we had fallen in love with in Shanghai, and I was hoping to relive that excitement. We ordered the chicken with intestines, the lamb, and the pork ribs. Normally, when dining at Chinese restaurants in Northern California, I bring my own Thai bird's eye chilies because no matter how spicy I ask for, it's rarely enough. But not at Ikka. The food was packed with bold flavors and just the right amount of heat -- enough to work up a good sweat. I also noticed a light numbing sensation in my mouth that took the experience to another level. That's when it hit me: this was the famous Sichuan peppercorn that I had only heard about from food explorers like Sonny and Mark on YouTube during their trips to China. I've had mala hotpot and Sichuan-style dishes up north, but I've never truly experienced that signature peppercorn-induced numbing satisfaction -- until now. My wife and I finished all three dishes and couldn't help but laugh (and feel a little embarrassed) when we looked around and saw other couples sharing just one dish. But hey, don't judge us -- it was that good. Truly a life-changing food experience. If you're in San Gabriel and looking for authentic, bold, and exciting flavors, Ikka is a must-try.

My husband and daughter love love love their tomato noodles. I had their beef brisket, pork knuckle, and stewed chicken - thought the portion, packaging, style, and taste all gave a fast food/chain restaurant vibe. It's aight and probably would never crave it.

This restaurant is located in a plaza in San Gabriel. I really like the food. Although I don't eat much spicy food, it's still doable if I remove the chili oil from the hot pot. Actually, I didn't expect the hot pot to be this spicy but the food here is very delicious. The service was very nice. My server was very friendly. They also have Vitamilk (soy milk that is easy to find in Asia).

New menu item! Spicy Angus Beef taste very authentic and savory!

This is what I thought about the food we got. House Seafood Soup - Simple and clean soup. Good portion, and it was soothing to eat. Lots of squid. (4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. The shrimp in the honey walnut dish were large prawns. They were moist, succulent and tender. It had a rich flavor because of the mayo. The chow mein was full of chicken, shrimp, squid and octopus. It was perfectly crispy and saucy at the same time. We ate to our heart's content and ended up taking home plenty of leftovers enough for another meal. Our total bill was a little over $108 with tip. After looking at some photos on Yelp and some helpful Q&A with my waitress, I decided on their Breakfast Combo D. Porkchop & Egg Pineapple Bun with Dried Scallop Congee ($13.99) and I opted for the Iced Lemon Tea ($1 cold drink upgrade). What a deal!! I also added a side order of the Fried Dough Stick ($3.50) or also known as the crueler or Chinese donut since I like to have it with my congee. It wasn't needed from a portion perspective but I just like it. The food came out quickly, the congee first and then the fried dough stick and porkchop & egg pineapple bun. What a feast! The ladies at the lady next to me were so excited at my spread they asked me what I got. They thought I was really pro but it was actually just my first visit. Inside the pineapple bun there was a fried egg, porkchop, tomato, lettuce, and sauce. It was a huge sandwich. This is one of the bigger pineapple buns I see and it was well stuffed. The amount of food I ordered was enough to feed 2 people. The congee was really subtle. I didn't get the fried scallop that is in the name... I would just perceive it as a plain congee. The fried dough stick was oily and didn't taste too fresh. I probably won't order it next time. Nevertheless a still overall fabulous meal. My tea was refilled before I had the chance to ask. When I asked for the check, they knew to bring me togo containers without me having to ask too. Very smart service! I had a great meal here and I will definitely come back if I wake up early enough to come at opening.

We came…read morearound 6:30pm on a weekday for dinner and they were pretty busy and parking lot was quite full, but luckily we didn't have to wait for a table and still found parking. They have a lot of tables inside so it is great for small and large groups. The waiters were also fast even though they were busy. We ordered their Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Tofu, Beef Noodle, Shrimp w Walnut, and Vegetable w Garlic. We decided not to get lobster since it was pricey. They took our order pretty fast and gave tea to drink. The pot of white rice is extra $1 if you order though. And their menu book doesn't have prices for some reason. Only the to-go menu has prices. Food was served in a decent amount of time, around 15 minutes. And all dishes arrived close together so we didn't have to wait long. The kung pao chicken is so good! Not spicy at all and very nice and crispy with good seasoning. It tasted delicious with some rice. The beef noodles were also delicious! It had good wok taste and was very flavorful. The tofu and shrimp were also good. None of the dishes were too salty and all were seasoned well and in pretty big portions, though I don't remember the exact price since they took the receipt away when we paid. But the meal was very worth and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Such a yummy meal! I really enjoyed it! I am definitely coming back again!
