My best friend and I went to this place the other day having seen a few good reviews and thinking the whole "hot pot" idea looked interesting. Now for starters, the wait. We waited for almost 20 minutes to get seated, but here's the thing: THERE WAS NO LINE. Several servers literally just walked right by us without saying anything. Not even a glance in our direction. (I hate to even bring this up, but my friend and I are Muslims, so the whole being completely ignored concept isn't entirely new to us. But this was one of the only times we noticed it so blatantly.) So finally when a server decided to acknowledge us, we were seated in one of the many available tables we saw already ready to go when we had walked in. The lady who waited on us was clearly trying to rush us into making a decision and wasn't at all helpful in describing the menu options. Now finally, the food. My friend and I enjoyed what we ordered, although we both agreed that the broth wasn't that impressive, nor was the combination of things inside. All in all, I can't in good conscience give this place five stars because of the experience we had, and the food wasn't at all worth it. I ordered the veggie hotpot. I was the most dissapointing meal i have ever had. It was basicly just veggies in boiling water. The broth was just water..... For 15 dollars they gave me 2 pieces of tofu, 2 pieces of broccoli and a few oth pieces of veggies in water. I was expecting that them to put more effort into making the broth since this is a hot pot. But no it is just water....plain water...for 15 dollars. What a rip off. Oh yea service was horrible too. Awful awful experience of waiting in line. They said you can only be seated if all of the people in the party are presented. But the people in front of us have six people but only three showed up. And they refused to give us seated first(we all showed up). Then we waited there and nobody talked to us then. When there are seats available, they just skipped us and went into the stupid waiting system and ignored us. And we tried to explain but the lady server used a even more angry voice to talk to us. Authentic Taiwanese hotpot. My favorite is their house special with the stinky tofu!! The curry pot is pretty good too. Also tried the Thai seafood pot, a bit too sweet for me but maybe others will like it. I also like their sauces that go with the meat in pot. The bubble tea is nice but they do not have different sugar options like professional bubble tea places, my favorite is 古早味奶茶(traditional milk tea). They have free green tea or black tea with the hot pots too. Try to avoid going there at normal meal hours because the downtown branch will always have a line, although the wait is not unbearable, less than twenty minutes most of the time. read more

We received the worst service and food that was not ordered. After selecting the appropriate amount of people in our party we waited 2 hours to be texted. Once we received the text the hostess tells us she can't accommodate our party (6 people) and we have to split up. This is after she told us she could accommodate us, 30 minutes earlier! Waitress was inattentive and rude after we stuffed our party into a 4 person booth. The waitress insisted that the plate of fake crab she put on our table was the tempura we ordered. Overall we should have left at that point but hoped service and meal would improve. Silly us. It got worse and we never saw our original waitress again until we were trying to leave. Again, she ignored our request for attention, flipped her hair and walked on. A nice young man assisted us and got our check, as it was, to us. Never coming here again. Bellevue location 110% better! So angry with food quality, doesn't live up to what's advertised, lack of meat and noodles, with over abundance of cabbage and mushrooms. If i could give 0 stars i would! Absolutely terrible service for my friends and I! They were completely rude to my party! I am a waitress and i ubderstand when its busy it will take some time to get service, but after waiting nearly 20 minutes to get a drink order, that's just bull. Seriously? One table sat down and didn't even wait a minute to get their drink orders in but our table waited and waited. Until i finally got fed up and raised my hand to get the waitress attention. I brought to her attention calmly that we waited for nearly 20 minutes and witnessed another table being served right away. She rolled her eyes at me! Really!? I will never return to this location again and honestly they need their wait staff checked again. I have never been server so rudely in my life! When I saw a post my friend took about this place I had to try it, however, her location was a different one from this place. Overall quality is good, definitely would come back. The single person hotpot style meal is always fun and the flavor is great compared to others I've tried. I would not recommend going to this place on holidays or days when schools out for we had to wait about an hour and half on our first visit, but our second visit we were able to get a group of 6 seated within minutes of arriving. BEWARE Vegetarians! We waited 30 mins for our table only to be told that they were out of their only vegetarian option - Tomato Veggie hotpot. Our server then suggested Pomelo hotpot since it has a vegetable soup base. When we asked if they could substitute the meat for extra vegetables, the server said no because they do not have enough servers... Not sure what that has to do with anything... When we asked for a discount, the server said no. The server started to get annoyed with our questions about vegetarian options so she called over her manager. The manager then explained that the Pomelo hotpot is actually not vegetarian since everything is pre-made. They then proceeded to kick us out of the table once they realized we couldn't order. I will start with service. I just don't ever think I should be seated and have to wait 5 minutes for a server to approach and ask about drinks. For some reason this seems to be the norm in Asian restaurants. But eventually someone came to the table. Also, a server should be able to tell you about the menu and make suggestions. Not the case here. The fermented tofu was incredibly stinky, but those who ate it said it was spicy and flavorful. The appetizers were fantastic. Pork belly,beef and lamb were flavorful, perfectly seasoned, tender and a highlight for me. On to the hot pots. Admittedly it is a western palette thing but so many ingredients piled in sometimes throws me off. Beef, fish cake and fake crab. The broth was super rich and flavorful. The medium spice was VERY spicy and I love spicy food. My main complaint was that the veggies got to mush much quicker than I could eat them. The floor is really oily and slippery. The rice is super hard. And they are super racist. Same requests by different people receive totally different reactions. I'm Asian and I asked to order a seafood pot and substitute the soup with just water nothing extra. They told me they can't do that. But when my friend, a white girl, came another time and had the same request and they allowed her to do that. So this time I wanted to give them another try. We waved and called the waitress but no one responded for a couple of times even it's not a busy hour. I asked if I can substitute soup with just water and got a no answer again. I like the miso base, and couple spicy soup base ( both thai and Korean ) , I always avoid the one with stinky tofu because I can't eat those and they won't allow substitute. Worst experience ever. This restaurant had a really bad service attitude and the waitress who stood in the front greeting guests often rolled her eyes to me when I asked for help. At first time, I thought it might be a misunderstanding or she might experienced a bad day, so I did not really take it serious, but the second time I asked for help, I found out all waitress and waiters were busy and pretended not seeing me and I had to ask the same person again who mainly greeted guests and she rolled her eyes again and sighed as if I have owed her a thousand dollars. Wait... I am just asking for help to turn the fire off and this waitress who mainly greeting guests were keep rolling her eyes to me and I do not even know her! I was so disappointed about the restaurant and I don't know how this kind of person can be the staff of boiling point. You know what, there are many Chinese restaurants in the Seattle and the boiling point hot pot taste is not even the best, definitely find some other hot pot is better since I am not eating here for seeing your poker face and your rolling eyes. I've always wanted to try boiling point whenever I visited the west coast but never got a chance to with all the other yummy food choices around. I finally got to try bp while visiting seattle. We arrived for dinner and had to take a ticket and wait for about 30 minutes. I ordered the number 4 beef hot soup and a guava bubble tea. The food was enough for me but I feel like it may not be enough for people with bigger appetites. I went with two other guys and they both had to get extra meat. The broth was pretty flavorful but I wish they had more dipping sauces.. the sauces they had on the tables were just ok.. I didn't really use them. If you have noodles in your dish you should eat them quickly as the flames are really strong and everything cooks quickly. I'm a pretty slow eater so by the time I was halfway done everything was overcooked. I guess I could have asked them to put the fire out but then everything would have gotten cold :( I think I like to eat hotpot at my own pace with broth and food on separate plates. I came in a group of 7 and we wanted to sit together so they had us wait for 1 hour! There was a spot where 2 tables were about to open up and we only needed to wait for 1 group to finish, but these smart a** employees didn't save the second table, we had to ask to sit across from each other's with a divider and they even got mad at us for asking! We never got our water, they never warn us 5 out of 10 items were out until we started to order, and even after we ordered, they still came back and said they didn't have what we ordered. The food was ok, but this service is definitely not kool! It was close to closing time and the servers were giving us our check, and after ever few mins someone would come around our table to check for our payment, but finally one girl server got the nerves to come over and asked, "you know this is your check right"? my sis replied yes, but she was still in the middle of finishing her food. WTF is wrong with these people, they're the one who messed up when seating us, how rude to rush someone when they're still eating. My sis even got her outside drink taken away from her, where does it say you can't bring outside food in? And why cant't you split a check? Omg I love BP, they give you a a timer that goes off when you're seats are available which is nice because you can walk around instead of being crammed up by the front door. My friend and I had late dinner last night around 9:30pm, the server told us they are preparing for closing so they don't want us to sit at the back seat, they asked us to wait for a bit so they can give us a table that is not at the very back. I ordered #1 House Special Hot Soup 招牌臭臭鍋. When the server put the food on the table, it was cold. I had one bite and it was totally room temperature...I didn't think much and just waited for the food to be heated again by the fire they later lightened up below the pot. I always know they precook the food, and let it cool down, when customers want it, they will heat it up again for them + set the fire under the pot to cook and make the soup remain hot. I understand it was late last night and they probably didn't want to preheat the food for us...but here is what happen today. I WOKE UP WITH FOOD POISONING. I had bad nausea, couldn't walk straight, whatever I saw was spinning around. I felt to puke for hours but I couldn't puke because my body already digested the food during the night while I was sleeping. I was sitting on the floor beside toilet and hoping I could puke but I had bad luck. I later had diarrhea 3 times. The nausea and disgusting symptoms didn't go away until today's evening. I was so ill that I even think I should go to emergency. I ate nothing but food from Boiling Point yesterday, so you tell me where did I get this food poisoning from? Later I confirmed with my friend, he had diarrhea several times today too. I'm alway a fan of BP but after this experience, I will no longer go to any of their locations. Not to mention, this is not the first time I got food poisoning from their food but I wasn't sure last time since it wasn't the only food I had that day when I got sick, but this time I am very sure it's their food. I think I'm fairly forgiving with customer service but this was not a very good experience. To be fair, we went within a month of the Seattle grand opening so I'm not sure if it's improved since then. When we came in, there was a sign on the window saying that there's free drinks with a meal order. We asked if they were still honoring it, they said yes and told us they would be back to take our order. They proceeded to take the sign down and came back to us to tell us they would no longer honor it. Ok, no big deal but the sign was deceiving. Tried to order dumplings and chinese donuts, they said they have no dumpling selections or chinese donuts but it wasn't crossed off their menu. The broth was decent but nothing extraordinary. They did say they have really great snow flake ice for dessert so we saved our appetite. We tried to order and they said the only flavor they had left was mango but again, all the flavors were still on the menu. They told us that if we wanted the full menu we should try Bellevue. Plus side? Free parking validation at Uwajimaya so you can browse around the store afterwards. I give them a one star because the soup was bomb but it still does not change the fact that we got treated terribly. So we checked in today and we came in at 2pm. It was super busy and we got seated at 3:05. We waited about an hour just for a table for 2... My boyfriend and I came for lunch time and were hoping we would get charged lunch time. Turns out we got charge dinner time even though we waited an hour and got there before three. So my boyfriend wanted to complain bc it was unfair that we had to pay an extra dollar for the bowls and pay about 4$ for each green tea. After we finished our food, my boyfriend went up to the cashier and asked them if we could pay for lunch time bc we were here for lunch time. And the cashier said no so he asked for the manager and the manager said "you guys can't get a deal because you guys ordered after 3" then my bf said that he was not going to pay for it then bc we got here way before. And the manager said "then I am not letting you leave" and he blocked the door. My bf ended up paying and we were super disappointed. We are never going back here again. We asked for something so little yet made so much sense and we got attitude. We should've paid $25 instead of $40. A good manager is suppose to satisfy his customer. Had sweet milk boba tea. It comes with boba even though I don't like boba, and I have to pay for it even though I didn't get the boba. Something's not right here. My suggestion to the restaurant is to have the drinks without the add ons, and then if people want to pay extra for them, they can. A lot of the boba places do this. The service is also really good and they refill your broth and rekindle your fire too. The portions are a little small so make sure to buy add ons. It's always super busy and the wait is long. The food is good but pricey. Portions can be bigger and add ons are not a lot of food. The quality of food is good though. The veggies are fresh, but again not enough. Tofu is hit or miss. Sometimes it's fresh and other times seems very old. Wish it was just broth and add your own rather than preselected ingredients for your hot pot. This place is horrible if they get your food order wrong, which they do often. Instead of fixing the order they reuse the same order and lie to you that it's a new pot. They must not think very highly of their customers if they are going to pull something like that. The funny thing is I asked them to cancel my order because I knew that was exactly what they would do. It isn't a big deal if you didn't have certain food allergies, then this place might as be a death sentence. Having to talk to five different people for them to finally cancel my order. I soon asked to speak with their manager but was told there was no manager and he left home. Then I asked another waiter to speak to a manager and he bought someone with him all in the two minutes we asked the other waiter. The "manager" was the guy in the store the whole time. Pretty much, they kept lying to us and ensuring that we didn't know what we were talking about and that we were wrong. Eventually, he gave in and ask what we wanted, we told him nothing for free just want to know how you are running your business conduction isn't fair practice. You shouldn't be arguing with your customers and at accusing them of lying. Over all experience, I usually eat here 2-3 times a week and unfortunately, I will not be returning to this place. If you can't take care of your customers to even cancel the order before all the tricking and lying then you shouldn't be in business. read more
