Walked in just after 6PM on a Sunday and got seated immediately, but by the time we left, there was a bit of a line piling up. They have a small parking lot right across the street from the entrance and designated parking under the bridge lot if you don't mind walking a bit. Beef Rice Roll (4.25/5): The rice roll was nice and thin and slippery in the best way. Ground beef is standard fare Canto-style filling. Overall, solid version of a difficult, labor intensive dish and I appreciate that you can get one all day here. Clay Pot Rice with Preserved Meat and Eel (5/5): The claypot rice here is absolutely the star. Rice is fluffy and nice golden brown crunch on the bottom. Preserved meat is just Chinese sausage, so adds fattiness, salinity, and sweetness. Eel is super tender with a thick savory sauce and nuttiness from sesame seeds. No sauce needed here. Beef Chow Fun (4/5): Good smokey wok flavor, but even for chow fun, I found theirs to be a bit too oily. A solid version and meat is nice and tender with some crunch and brightness from the onions. Roast Pork, Char Siu, and Roast Duck (4.5/5): The roast pork and char siu were perfectly cooked; almost juicy with how moist they were. Roast duck has a thin papery, crisp skin that adds a bit of crunch. Compared to my one true love Ton Kiang, the both pork options here are better and the duck just a touch less flavorful. read more

I don't think you could go wrong with any of their clay pots. We had such a hard time choosing two because all of them sounded so good. We'll definitely be back to try the rest. - beef brisket rice roll claypot: the beef brisket is tender and so flavorful. The rice rolls are soft and bouncy with a slightly crisped outside by the claypot. Mixed together they are a delicious combo - seafood eggplant claypot: the eggplant is well marinated with the sauce and it's delicious. Good thing too because there's a lot of eggplant. I like the fish in the seafood combo and it comes with generous portions of shrimp and squid as well - duck rice roll: I felt this one fell a little flat compared to the clay pots. The rice roll seemed to be one large piece (still bouncy and yummy) but we didn't find that it came with a lot of duck The service was fast, and we were able to eat pretty quickly once we ordered. Came here with a big group on a Sunday afternoon, and despite the small size of seating enside, they were able to seat all 12 of us surprisingly! The food came pretty quickly after ordering. I ordered the fish, chicken, and eggplant clay pot and a side of rice. The eggplant was really tasty, but I did not see any pieces of fish in my dish so I was pretty dissapointed. I also split an order of the pea vines, which were pretty aite but not really standout. This restaurant is right next to the then-hyped Diamond Bay Restaurant, and serves as its own place. I got seated relatively fast as I went in to eat alone. There's a ton of seating inside this VERY brightly lit place, and there's even an area where you can purchase some Peking duck like you would at King's BBQ House. You get a menu to order your food off of, and they were out of some drinks at the time. The menu itself consists of foods I would usually expect to see in most Chinese restaurants around Chinatown. I got the clay pot rice with spare ribs, salted fish and beef brisket, along with an iced lemon jasmine tea. The jasmine tea was refreshing and had the right sweetness. That was great, because there was definitely a big mix of flavors in the clay pot rice. The meats and everything were fine and I enjoyed the salted fish more than I thought along with my all-time favorite spare ribs with black beans; I just wanted the rice to be far more cooked and even burnt so that I could claw away at it with my spoon and eat it as it is. This is the casual dining side of Diamond Bay next door, and are part of a chain from Brooklyn. I was excited to hear of the opening, but it took this long for me to make it to the local branch. We had dishes we loved from their main kitchens in Brooklyn - 4 Choice BBQ, Salted Fish and Meat Biscuit Claypot Rice, Loofah Soup with Clam and Fishpaste, and the Salted Fish, Chicken, Eggplant claypot. Of the 4 choices of BBQ we made, the roast pork was the best. Crispy skin with melt-in-the-mouth fat and lean layers of meat. Perfectly seasoned for the taste of the pork, as well as Chinese Five Spice. 5 stars for the roast pork. The Char Siu and Spare Ribs were flavorful, but too lean, dry and tough. The Roast Duck was perfect. Crispy skin, the layer of fat was well rendered down, and the meat was tasty. Unfortunately, the serving we got was mostly bone. The salted fish, chicken and eggplant came sizzling in the pot, and stayed hot and sizzling for quite a while. Very well balanced to eat with rice, but no flavor of salted fish. The rice in the claypot was perfectly cooked. Nice frond on the bottom and sides of the pot. But again lacked any flavor of salted fish. The soup was perfect, with the taste of clams balanced with the loofah gourd many fish paste. Service was friendly and prompt, and it being a brand new establishment, clean and well lit. We came here for the rice combo lunchboxes on a Sunday afternoon looking forward to a takeout dinner of Cantonese BBQ meats. Among the BBQ pork, the soy sauce chicken and roast pork selections, the quantity was small in portions. The staff didn't communicate a shortage of chicken so they randomly substituted with roasted pork. *The meals gave us food poisoning within 4 hours. Spent last night vomiting their combo box up and our family could not attend school or work today. This an HK style cafe serving mostly known for claypot rice and BBQ meats. You can get sliced BBQ meats (and presumably the rest of the menu to-go at the front counter) or sit in the cozy dining area. I came specifically for the bitter melon and beef rice roll (cheung fun). I have never seen that particular filling in a rice roll before. I didn't have a huge appetite and it was kind of a warm day. I just needed a light lunch or snack. I elected to get an order of fried chicken wings also. The bitter melon and beef rice rolls was a nice change of pace. When you order dim sum, there is always a tendency for dishes to sort of all taste the same and you get weighed down with the richness of a lot of the dishes. I really liked this version of the rice roll even though I don't normally order bitter melon. Chicken wings were straight out of the fryer, plump and delicious. The sweet chilli sauce on the side is not necessary and I must admit I've never liked the overly sweet Mae Ploy sauce you see in bottles at the supermarket. These wings are just fine on their own. The HK cafe type menu has lots of competition in the International District so I can't say it's the best. I'm still testing the waters for this specific style restaurant. And chinese BBQ is abundant in the Seattle area. Sometimes it boils down to convenience and parking for me. I took the light rail on this trip to the C.I.D or "I.D" or Chinatown, depending on what you want to call the are. It's a consistent uphill to this corner of Chinatown. It's not steep, but it's not flat either. Service was friendly, although not super prompt. I think I was just getting caught at the tail end of the weekend lunch rush and I could tell the servers were due for a break and kinda tuckered out. So I'm not mad about it. I heard one server explain to people who stopped in to inquire about the menu, that you can order one or two dim sum items from Diamond Bay (next door) since they share the same kitchen, but they want to stick to their own cafe style menu. It's not supposed to be overlfow seating for Diamond Bay. I saw the table next to me order a steamer of har gow (shrimp dumpling) and I got jealous. I almost ordered one for myself but I noticed one guy spit out the first one he had and then didn't touch the rest. I don't know what that was about, so that doesn't affect my opinon of the place. But I didn't order one for myself after I noticed that. I will have to try Diamond Bay myself and judge them on their own merits. I would give this place a try if nothing else, to try the bitter melon and beef rice roll. I'm not sure I would go out of my way for this place except for that dish, but I would have to try some more items to really know for sure. I never thought this would ever be a problem, but there are almost too many places that serve this kind of fare. I can't even believe I'm saying that. I used to have to drive 3 hours, one-way for legit chinese food. Next time I'm here, I'll come with more of appetite and try their claypot or BBQ meat/rice plates. If you come with at least 2 or 3 people you'll be able to try more items, so come with friends or family. read more

Pretty legit Cantonese spot with large portions and fair prices. I've tried takeout and dined in and both were great experiences. Their bbq meats are quite tasty. I particularly enjoy their char sui and roast duck. My son loves the beef chow fun which has the right level of wok hay (IYKYK) and my husband and I like the beef brisket noodles and clay pot rice dishes. They're busy, but efficient. Diamonds Bay has exploded in popularity, but it's the next door establishment that really I think is the spot to be excited about. Amazing spot for Cantonese clay pot rice and other authentic barbecue. Highly highly recommend. The chicken is the least authentic and least tasty, and even that was solid. Everything else was really really good. The price just can't be beat. Obviously as it's in ID parking can be an issue, and service isn't the fastest since it's made fresh each time. I've been to Jin Huang a few times, and their roast pork remains the best I've had. Today, however it sold out by 730pm on a Monday night. It has a light, crispy skin that's simply divine. The roast duck is also tasty, but today I was disappointed to see them take it out of the microwave. This resulted in a soggy, watery sauce. We also tried the scallion ginger chicken, but it was quite dry, and the scallion sauce lacked flavor. One of our favorite dishes is the salty fish with chicken and eggplant clay pot ($22). It's flavorful and pairs well with a side of rice. The kids love the walnut prawns ($26.50), which aren't on the menu but are available next door at Diamond Bay Restaurant. Since both restaurants share the same owners and kitchen, our server was able to request the dish for us. The red wine black pepper steak clay pot ($28) was okay, but nothing special. It had plenty of vegetables, though. Our friends from Portland also enjoyed the food. The restaurant is rather small and doesn't have large tables, so it's not ideal for big groups. We ordered eight dishes for eight people (two families) and finished almost everything. Our total after tax was $206.91. They added an automatic gratuity of 18% ($37.24) with tax, which I believe is inappropriate. Tips should be calculated on the pre-tax amount 187.50. Our final total was $244.15, which was still reasonable for 8dishes, side of rice & drinks, and overall service was good. read more

What a great find! We were actually heading to dim sum square and discovered it is now permanently closed. We were attracted to the hanging ducks and roast pork in the window. It is right next to Diamond bay and I would've missed it because it doesn't have its own sign just its own entrance. This has now become my go to Cantonese Restaurant. Authentic food and the service is quick and friendly. It is a small eatery so seating is limited but the food comes very fast. We have now been back twice and will keep going back. read more

I was introduced to Jin Huang via a friend who definitely an expert on Chinese food and they didn't disappoint. The food is fresh. You can taste the freshness through the texture and how the ingredients mix with the flavoring. We ordered a congee with Chinese donut. Then a few dishes of rice wraps. We also had a side dish of vegetables with oyster sauce. Yes, it was a carb night. But delicious carb night. The service is quick. And it's easy to find a server to ask for stuff cause they were well staffed and most of them spoke fluent English. The spot is good up to a midsize group of 6 people. They have a lot of smaller seating options for 2 people. Definitely a casual place where you can order to-go or eat and leave quickly. We read the reviews and were excited to check out some Cantonese classic. We showed up at 10:14 pm on a Saturday after a baseball game and was told they were closed. Hours clearly showed open hours till midnight at the posted sign at the door and online. I don't give 1 star lightly and knowing they just open and trying to succeed. I was visiting my son in Seattle and decided to try clay pot rice in Chinatown. We made a special trip to here and had a very high hope. But we were not impressed at all. They supposed to be famous for their clay pot rice but the rice isn't crispy at the bottom. My claypot rice cooking at home is better than this! We wanted the server bring it back to cook it longer on the flame but we already stir the rice looking for the crispy. The server was hesitant. I don't know if they had a different chef cooking this meal or this is their standard. This meal was lacking. Hopefully their Chinese BBQ is better but we didn't try any. We were so disappointed and didn't eat much. Leaving the restaurant unsatisfied and still hungry. The food was good, but the service was terrible. A lady with glasses had a bad attitude and didn't offer any real service. They missed my drink order, and I asked for it a couple of times, but it only came when I was almost done with my food. Despite her poor attitude, she still asked me for a higher tip and even blamed another staff member for not asking for more tips, speaking in Taishanese and thinking I wouldn't understand.
