This is my first visit to Boiling Point Seattle - however, I have been to the Bellevue location before. It is conveniently located right next to Uwajimaya in the International District which means that you can take advantage of the parking garage. Yay for 2 hour free parking!! Upon entrance, I've got to say, it is much more spacious and less claustrophobic compared to its east side counterpart. Not to mention, the smell was less potent - but perhaps that is because it wasn't a full house. I took my parents here for a late, Tuesday lunch at around 1:00pm. The lunch rush had probably already cleared out and we were seated promptly. However, 10-15 minutes passes and we were never offered any beverages nor did anyone come by to check if we were ready to order. Even by the time our food was served, we still didn't have any drinks. Bottom line: Service is slow. Disappointing because it wasn't even that busy and there were at least 4 servers and/or staff members working the floor. There were 4 of us and we ordered 3 hot pots: Taiwanese Spicy Hot Soup (there is ramen noodles in it!!), Thai Flavor Hot Soup, Curry Fishball Hot Soup. It was a rainy day and with half of us sick and battling a cold bug, this definitely hit the spot. We all enjoyed our food and were happy with the portions.* The spicy peanut/chili sauce on the table was pretty good as a dipping sauce - definitely added flavor. The wide vermicelli noodles (add-on) was good, too. I've never had noodles of that texture before so that was different - good different! My parents are used to the "traditional communal hot pot" where meat and veggies are served on the side and you dip and pick your own food. Therefore, this was a novelty experience for them and they enjoyed it. We all walked away happy and full. Lunch time isn't so bad though. I always tend to get the beef hot soup with two stars. I usually share this with my boyfriend or a friend, and we'll just order extra sides. You seem to save more money that way instead of paying more for two separate hot pots. The service is okay. Employees are friendly but it's always seems a little difficult to catch their attention. You know the old adage that says when you are looking for a place to eat, you should go where the locals are? (more specifically applies to travel and tourism, but applies here also) Before you guys get your panties in a twist about this, there's a reason that most of the good Asian restaurants are in the ID and not outside the ID. There's also a good reason that Asians flock to certain restaurants and most [non-Asians] flock to the other ones. I'll let you figure out why. Some reviewers are upset about not having their hands held through the process of ordering, eating, and paying. Well. After a little bit of investigative activities, it was quite simple to do all three. Most restaurants outside of the US simply leave you alone until you call them over (what a concept!) and most Asian restaurants will generally expect you to pay up front. This is nothing new. The people here are very friendly and proficient at their jobs, you simply have to call them over. The menu seems daunting, maybe, at first. They use cute little pictos (so Asian) to indicate things like BP specialty, drink included, bowl of rice, etc. The huge pictures are helpful in showing you what is in the bowl you're getting. If that's not enough they list EVERY ingredient in the bowl. The extras on the back of the menu, really are extras and you would be quite indulgent to get any. That being said, they do skimp on some of the tastier ingredients in the bowl. Makes sense I suppose. The price is a little high too, but you are definitely getting a lot in exchange. This place is definitely in a part of town that I would have to make a specific effort to get to, but I have some friends in the area that would surely like to come here. Whoever came up with this ingenious idea for individual hot pot deserves an award. I can't tell you how annoying it is when a large group of people want to go get hotpot.. food takes forever to cook cuz everyone gets over excited throwing it in and not to mention everyone else always seems to get the good stuff before you. Again I say, to the creator of the individual hot pot - you deserve an award! At Boiling Point, hot pot is personalized by flavor of broth and the contents in each pot fall into the theme; choices vary from beef, Japanese Miso, Thai, Veggie, etc. My go to is the Japanese Miso, this is one of the "extra large" pots that cost a dollar more but you do get a significant amount. The Japanese Miso contains beef, tofu, cabbage, udon, enoki and is topped off with a fresh egg. When the hot pot is brought to your table is it sitting on a mini stove with an open flame underneath to get everything cooking. NOTE everything is pretty much cooked when they bring your soups to you, I always let my hot pot come to a boil and then I ask the waitress to turn off my flame - otherwise your hot pot will get all murky and your food gets all gross and murky. You can customize your dishes if what you want isn't already included, they have a complete menu of add ons for your pots. The sauces on the table for dipping are absolutely delicious, I am a huge fan of their soy bean sauce that offers a sweet and savory finish with the contents of my hot pot. There is also a chili sauce that can be mixed in if you can brave the spices. If you come for lunch, prices are a dollar cheaper than dinner and your meal comes with a choice of iced green tea or black tea. I highly recommend the green tea, it is subtly fragrant and sweet! This BP is the second location in Washington and is much more spacious and clean than it's original in Bellevue (which in my opinion smells like a foot but that's a different story). This establishment has plenty of tables for groups between 2 and 10. Avoid them during peak hours or prepare to brave long lines. They also won't seat you unless your entire party is present so there's that to worry about it. Also, park in the Uwajimaya parking lot cuz they validate! read more

Got the Japanese miso hot pot and the house special hot pot and both were delicious! Miso was a bit more expensive because of the bigger portion but I felt like portions could be bigger. You get to choose the spiciness of the soup and I got mild just to be safe and it was still great. Each hotpot comes with rice and different types of sauce. We also got a peach green tea and that was really good. Don't get the plum juice though! It was terrible and not at all like the plum juice you get in Asia. A popular restaurant with disappointing food We had two hot-pots, one beef, one seafood miso, with a tempura add-on. They looked appetizing, but in fact they weren't great. Things that detracted from the experience: - the hotpot bowls were heated by Sterno - when you leaned in to get soup, you got the Sterno fumes in your face (yuck!) They should use propane or something else that has less odor. - The "tempura" wasn't even recognizable as tempura - it was like a chicken strip from KFC, no internal texture, and no tempura batter on the outside (something else, but not flaky or tasty) The noodles and vegetables were good - as was some of the seafood, but I had several clams that didn't open (dead or way past their prime), and the fish balls had poor texture On the good side, this is a very busy restaurant, and they have an ingenious system for putting names on a list and giving you a number - and despite the long line, the turnover was quick, so we only waited about 5 minutes, even though we had at least 7 parties in front of us. read more

I've only dined in at Boiling Point once, and the rest of the time I've bought milk teas to go and tried their ice cream. If you're planning to dine in, wear clothing you don't mind getting smelly and you probably want to shower when you get home. It's pretty much the same at Little Sheep Mongolian, that pungent "hot pot" smell. When I went, it was pretty much their opening week (that was awhile ago...), so things were chaotic and I don't want to base my review based on that experience as I understand opening weeks are hard. Especially with a chain as popular as Boiling Point. The food didn't really stick with me too much, but the four stars here is for their milk teas! They are delicious, with some of the best pearls/boba I've tasted in a pearl milk tea :D They're chewy, kind of sweet and don't break apart or feel super mushy. I recommend the Hokkaido Milk Tea and the Old-Time Delight Milk Tea. The latter is a tad sweeter than the former for those of you with a sweet tooth ;) I recently tried one of their macaron ice cream sandwiches. I didn't even know they had these until recently, since they weren't on the menu when they opened. I wanted matcha, but they were already out of them by 3pm on a Sunday for some reason. I settled with vanilla instead. The macaron sandwich part was really good, with the macaron being chewy, sweet and slightly almond tasting. The ice cream center however, was a bit hard. It was hard to bite through and it felt like it had been freeze dried or something. I think the most disappointing thing of all was that it was $4.50. It wasn't really that big either. I have yet to try their snow cubes (another new thing on the menu). I'll probably go dine in again one of these days, and I'll update my review to reflect the food and service, but for now- do try their milk teas! read more

I love hot pot, and am always happy as a clam after eating at Boiling Point! There are 10 different individual sized hot pots on the menu with prices ranging from $11.99 to $15.99. You can also add various sides such as ramen, udon noodle, extra meat, and veggies. I have tried the lamb hot pot, Taiwanese hot pot, and beef hot pot. My favorite so far is the beef hot pot. My side of choice are the spinach wok noodles, quail egg, regular egg, and crown daisy; which are the perfect sides to my hotpot meal. The individual fires for the hotpot make the soup boil strong, so you can ask the waiters to turn your fire off if you want to stop the boiling. Sometimes it is easier to eat when it is not boiling in your face. You can ask them to relight the fire later when you would like it to boil again to cook some more sides. Their drinks and desserts are also amazing and a must get each time. I love the Hokkaido milk tea or old-time delight milk tea. I also love their snow cubes. My favorite is the strawberry flavor. I also enjoyed the matcha, black sesame, and Hokkaido. However I was not a big fan of the macaron ice cream sandwiches. We tried the green tea and strawberry flavor before. The ice cream was yummy inside both sandwich cookies. The strawberry sandwich cookie was nice and chewy, but the cookie of the green tea sandwich was old, hard and crumbly. I was really bummed out. I also find it peculiar that they serve water in paper cups at a restaurant. The service is good. You pick up a number when you arrive and then write your name and number on a list. Unless you get their early, you can expect to wait 20-40 minutes for a table during dinner time. The host does a good job seating you once a table is available. The waiters are quick about taking your order and bringing you what you need even if they are busy. im going to be 100% honest.. The food here is great i would rate it 5 stars, i really love coming here. i come here at least once or twice a week. The pots are big enough to share but personally for me i can finish a pot myself. The two seater tables are kind of small and feels claustrophobic with two pots on there, like u have no room for anything else. The down part of coming here is that the wait is often long even on weekdays but there are some times you don't have to wait usually between 3-5 on weekdays but not all the time its always varies. The wait area is very tight and people like to be in your space. If its your first time i recommend the beef pot which is my favorite and the garlic pork belly is really good, as well as the hakkido milk tea. Now the reason why i rate this place 3 stars is because the CUSTOMER SERVICE IS REALLY BAD! The only server that i feel like do their best to me is Ling, she is very polite and respectful but all the other workers are really rude, slow, and don't really understand english. The hostess is very rude and doesn't like to answer your questions like "how long is the wait" etc., last time she rudely told me to "just wait", she also doesn't speak loud enough for people to hear their numbers getting called. The other servers like to walk in circles and look at people or stand in a circle with their co workers and not do anything. They see people sit there finished with their food and don't think to ask if they're done and is really slow with giving people their checks. They don't think to rush and get people out the door and clean tables to seat people quicker. I'll be waiting in line and see many tables that should be cleaned or is cleaned but they don't seat people quickly, the workers are honestly are really slow and don't have communication with each other. At this location, they do validate parking for two hours in the uwajimaya market parking lot! There is also a machine when you enter where you put how many people in your party. Next it could either text you your wait number or print it on a recipe. I went on Sunday around 1:30 and the wait was about 20-30 minutes then once we sat, there was a crowd. My bf and I ordered the creamy curry and the house special. He really likes curry so he had to wait for the broth to thicken a bit. My dish was okay, I'd probably get the lamb or beef one next time. If you run out of soup, they'll pour you some more. The disappointing thing about the house special is that it mentioned clams and quail eggs which I had only one of each. The food is really good here and has no problem with it. However, the server Mei is really rude and unprofessional. I totally understand that during the pandemic, the waiting time would be much longer which is totally fine. When we got the notification to check in, I told her my table number and she gave me a bad attitude. I am so glad my friend suggested we go here for dinner! I had never had hotpot before and was excited to try it. I got the lamb pot and my friend got milk curry. The little woks and personal burners are so cute, I want one. It was fun to watch the food cook, and then it was delicious. The bowls came with so much food, I was so full. They are really well priced as well, from $14-19 for a huge amount of food. Also they don't rush you out, my friend and I were there for 2 hours talking and eating. Be warned it gets crowded fast! If you like hot pot this is definitely a place to try! Unlike the traditional hotspot, BP prepares all the ingredients for you and brings it out in a pot. You're allowed to choose the level of spice for your soup base, but if you're like me and will tear up from spicy food i would stay away haha. I got the Miso hot soup and loved it! We were also given complimentary desert, which I unfortunately still have no clue what it was BUT it was very delicious! The wait isn't too bad (~20 minutes on a weekend evening) and they have great customer service.
