So my wife and I originally found this place about a year ago when it was inside cermak grocery store. When we went back a few weeks later, it was closed up. We had no idea what happened. When we drove past a strip mall one day, we saw a restaurant with a familiar name and I knew mere Karan Arjun aagaye. The owner/chef clearly has a sense of humor with his Bollywood inspired names for dishes. He's super friendly and it shows that they want to provide good service for their customers. As for the food, it tastes amazing. It comes out fresh, and I appreciate that they send it out as soon as it's ready instead of all at once. We've tried several of the dishes but a few of my favorites are samosa chopra, Desi pizza with paneer and taco tikka masala. I had previously left a rating on here that I cannot find. So I am adding a new rating. I had a prior bad experience during my first visit in which I was treated with indifference, rudeness and in which food items I wanted from the menu were not available. But the owner Chetan reached out to me very kindly and asked me to give the restaurant another try. So I have done so today and I am happy that I did. So far the dishes I have tasted each has been seasoned and prepared with great care. This is something I greatly value. The prices for the entrées are more comparable to dinner prices, but the portions are good and the flavors are nuanced. I am reserving a higher rating of 5 stars for when I have the opportunity to try several other dishes. They have a very diverse and creative menu, and I would like to see how these dishes taste. OK, don't usually review places, but this place has some unique attributes and deserves mention. First, you go here for the food and the flavors. Been here more than a half dozen times and each dish has been delicious. Food is obviously prepared fresh and served piping hot upon ordering, no reheats of day old butter chicken, so there is typically at least a 15 minute wait. Some specifics on the food; we've typically ordered one of the sizzler plates (Vegetable, Indo-Chinese and Mango Manchurian). These are all vegetarian, come out hot on a cast iron plate. Presentation is really nice and different than for most Indian food. The chef has a bent for fusing different flavors into his recipes and it shows in these dishes. Vegetables are battered and have a beautiful slightly meaty texture, flavors are bold and spicy (if you can only eat very mild, these dishes may be a bit much but then you're probably not going here anyway!). If you enjoy the combination of sweet and savory, then I'd recommend the Mango Manchurian sizzler, but they're all quite excellent. From the main menu the paneer tika masala, palak paneer (spinach) and baingan bharta (eggplant) are all simply outstanding. These are all served in a smaller bowl and we typically order a side of basmati rice and bread to go with, as the sauce is rich and amazingly flavorful. Textures are beautiful, mostly smooth, but with some e.g. onion with small crunch so you don't feel like you're eating baby food. We have always asked for spicy, but I believe these can be ordered on the milder side also. Finally a comment on the bread: Up until the last visit we had always ordered a wheat flour roti to avoid that filling feeling from what at other restaurants is fairly heavy naan bread. On the recommendation of the chef who came personally to our table and gave us complementary naan (with garlic), we finally tried the naan. I'm not usually a great fan of naan (just a big Indian tortilla, right?), but my wife and I agreed this was the best naan we'd had anywhere. Its about half the density and mass of the usual stuff, much more delicate, even slightly flaky. This again came out hot, fresh and perfectly seasoned. Overall the price for two dishes, rice and bread (and one mango lassi) is very comparable with the local indian buffet type restaurants (~45 bucks) where, rather than fresh-made, food is often cooked well ahead of time and re-heated. (Not sure I understand some of the reviews mentioning cost - yes if you compare to the local burrito joints (which I love too!), then yes it is higher, but c'mon man, no comparison on food taste and quality). I am a big eater and I can say that with the two-dish order described above, my wife and I typically cannot finish everything and leave with a to-go container. We've only been through maybe ~1/3 of the menu so I cannot say that every dish is as excellent as the ones we've had (but I suspect they may be!) There is no beer or wine on the menu in case that is a deal breaker. The service is friendly and informal. Seating area is simple, not fancy, decorated with interesting Indian signage, though most of it unintelligible to me! Bottom line, this is the place to go for bold, unique Indian flavors. Upon complaining the paadi chaat & pizza base was stale & didn't smell right, they replaced with extremely sweet kheer. Had a lunch reservation today. This place is good for grabbing a quick wholesome meal. The owner was very hospitable and took great care in preparing fresh food and coursing out our selections. Good indian street food is very hard to find and I was ecstatically pleased with the presentation and authenticity of our selections. I'm give me a correct response the manager is like they will have it next week well its 6 weeks. Like give a real time info. Called them on Sunday 12/12. And now they removed said its a seasonal item and it will be available in march. I would not recommend this plan to anyone. So much lies. Aloo Paratha Plate: It was like a fancy potato pancake with a pepper & sour cream sauce. It all went together very well for a balanced flavor Kadai Paneer: Nice assortment of veggies & paneer. I'm a sucker for paneer so of course I loved it. Spicy but not too spicy. Gobi Manchurian: Very flavorful & spicy cauliflower. Took us by surprise to be the star of the meal. This place is in the same strip mall as Jewel. The inside is clean but small -- only a few tables -- so not ideal for a large group. I don't think there's a washroom, unless they let you behind the kitchen door, but that would be awkward. The owner/manager is very friendly. There are some posters up with text, but I was expecting more movie posters and maybe some old Bollywood movie playing on the television instead of Food Network. The food was excellent. It was fresh, piping hot, and tasty. Unfortunately it's served fast food style in styrofoam containers/plates with plastic utensils, which kind of gives it a lower quality feel, but the food is certainly not low quality. I guess the plus side is that leftovers are easy because you just need a lid for the containers. All in all, great food and service, but the interior and presentation leave something to be desired. This place had amazing Indian chaat food and hit all the spots that our large group of 8 was looking for. Even though they weren't set up yet to have dining inside, the person upfront saw us wanting to find a place where we could eat inside and they were really gracious, and setup tables and chairs so we could eat. Vaah! This place is amazing! I typically use baingan bharta as my ruler for what to expect when trying new Indian/chaat/curries. Just wow! The smokiness of the eggplant! The spices! The mouthfeel! We went there last Friday with high hopes of experiencing flavorful Indian street food. Boy, we're we disappointed! The place is as plain Jane as one can expect in a strip mall. The seating is basic. The place wasn't crowded - 2 parties and there was space for 3 more. The menu is pretty impressive and diverse. The food was delivered within a reasonable time. But that's where it hit home. There was no taste to the Paneer Kulcha Chole. The Chole were Kala Chana that was quite watery with the gravy not homogeneous with the Chana. The Dahj Kachori was fresh and delicious. The makke di roti was good but the sarson ka saag was a bit bland. The portion sizes of all dishes for the price ($16) was quite wanting. We left unimpressed after having tried 2 entrees and one appetizer- $50 lighter. We stopped at the Mexican place across the street and ate two baby burritos and a horchata for less than half that price. read more

This place is a MUST for anyone looking to enjoy vegetarian Indian food with a unique twist. We moved to Naperville not long ago and this has become our go-to place. It lives up to it's "creative fusion" tag and we absolutely love the quirks the chef has added to the regular Indian recipes. The real struggle for us has been what to pick from the myriad options on the menu and rest assured whatever we have ordered so far has always been lip-smacking. Our absolute favorite is Tandoori Paneer flatbread. The couple that runs the place are incredibly sweet and the chef is humble and knowledgeable. We ordered the Indo-Chinese sizzler and to our surprise it turned out really great. It was a perfect blend of Indian and Chinese flavors, dipped in sauces and loaded of flavors of spiciness and tanginess. Four star because we also tried their vada pav and were not really satisfied but but but their moon dal halwa did an amazing job. We sat on a table for 6 and the rude host tells us to move to an adjacent exactly same table for 6 which was near the bathroom. The Indian food at it's best here, anywhere you can get in Chicagoland area. Great ambiance and you really get a feeling of eating inside an upscale, fine dining restaurant. Curries are tasteful and spiced & cooked to the perfection. Paneer Tikka masala and Malai Kofta are their best dishes. Best part is the breads they serve, They are so fluffy and yummy , directly from the Clay over Tandoor to your plate. Their Clay ovens are made out of special ceramic material imported from India which evenly distributes the heat inside oven and bakes the naan breads to perfection. We really liked the chef's creation dishes Panner PiriPiri and fire roasted eggplant flatbread and their portions are huge, good enough for a party of four and more. The location is inside Cermak and have limited seating. There were constant flow of crowd around when u r dining. Also my order of chai invited unpleasant guest a fly to follow us. There are two people managing the location so service is slow in order taking and delivering the food. We order good variety of food out of which pav bhaji, Dosa balls and masala chass was good. Samosa chat was average and club sandwich was no way close to what i had in past. The portions are small. But they charge you reg. restaurant prices which was surprising.
