Cute little place , you walk up and order style . The service was a little slow when we went but it was prime time at 10:30 on a Sunday so it seemed reasonable. Will never go back! Place is old, dingy & needs a face lift. All 3 of us ordered something different and two of us were sick for the rest of the day. My wheat toast was sooo hard, break your teeth. The service is bad (they need a wait staff desperately) I just waited about 20 minutes to place our order and there were only 2 other people ahead of me in line. How hard is it to take an order? Then when I do get to order, they are out of the waffles which is half of the reason I came. They do have pancakes though. How can you make pancakes but not waffles? Stumbled upon this place with my mother, we are avid La Mad eaters. Our brunch was delicious, full of flavor and filling. The hashbrown nest is one of the best things I have ever eaten. I have read the other reviews about the service and didn't find anything wrong with it. It is the same method as La Mad and the owner was walking around checking on all the patrons. I just had a nice Sunday breakfast at this establishment. This family is smart!!!!! They found a need in this area and filled it. We don't have too many breakfast options along 45 South. I walked in to a pleasant environment. I ordered my breakfast at the register which was an easy process. The place is like a small La Madeline without all of the confusion. The menu is simple and only lists things they do well from my observations of other patrons. I took my number, got my drink, washed my hands, and sat down. As soon as I got comfortable my food arrived. I had the Bon Appetit Breakfast which included the following items: 2 scrambled eggs (cheese); sausage patties; baked hash Brown dish; and a big waffle. By the way, my eggs were real eggs....not a powdered mix. I cleaned my plate and left uncomfortably stuffed. I spent $10.29 which included my iced tea. The staff members are friendly and efficient. The location is genius due to the fact that they put it down the street from a Catholic church. Why does the matter you ask? I'll tell you why and I know you will appreciate my answer and my advice. When church service let's out at 11am, breakfast is on the brain of most folks. I did not attend service this morning and I am ashamed, but I beat the church rush. As I was leaving, the line was to the back wall from the register. My advice to you is to get there before 10:50AM on Sundays. If you can't do that, just wait until noon. Tried this place recently. Despite the general liking per the other reviews I didn't really enjoy eating here. Here is why: 1. The place was empty when we arrived and still had to wait for our order to be taken. 2. The restaurant had a very off putting odor the entire time we dined. 3. An older couple I'm assuming were regulars were greeted almost instantly and had their food delivered personally by the cashier and cook. The cashier then joined the couple at the table to chit chat. They were so welcoming to them and didn't pay us any further attention aside from when they took our order. Seemed like they didn't care if they kept our business. 4. The food was so mediocre. I could have made something a thousand times better at home. And not to mention everything had a very funny taste. Like possibly the oil wasn't changed or the pans weren't clean before cooking my food. I only got the eggs and bread plate which you would think would be hard to mess up. Tried this place for the first time and was very happy! I ordered the Bon Appetite Breakfast with a waffle. Eggs were delicious, bacon was cooked nicely and the hash browns were yummy. The waffle was a little on the cold side and I'm not into the syrup they have but I'm spoiled on real maple... 2 Bon Appetite Breakfasts, a kids meal grilled cheese with chips and a coffee was $25 so good price... much better than IHop... will be going again for sure. I also had a chocolate croissant and it wasn't as good as I hoped... it had some kind of cream filling and chocolate chips on top.... next time I'll try a plain croissant or the Apple Turnover (which is very popular) read more

The best restaurant atmosphere I've ever been in. Small but open and cozy, doors were open on a great first day of fall so an incredible breeze flowed through the restaurant, and all the staff are very polite. Food was 3.5-4 star food, pancakes weren't worth it but the Parmesan chicken was good. I'll definitely be coming back for a date with my wife - not cause the food was amazing, it was just good - but because the atmosphere is so great. Candace above nailed the review. It's a nice welcome touch to the neighborhood. I gave it a couple of weeks before I came in. It still has a lot of kinks to work out. Like microwaved sausage! No customer service. Everyone stares at you. The menus are not in plain view. So you wonder around for 5 minutes looking at half empty cases and they just stare at you. It's obvious no one has direction here. I hope they pick up on this fast, because the concept is cute and the food is pretty good. It beats IHOP, that's for sure. read more

I've worked in hospitality for 15 years, I wouldn't bother. The decor is tired, you have self serve coffee and drinks station. You have to order at the counter. I ordered hot tea and was given a cup with a sachet. American breakfast was fine accept for the cold bacon, the waffles were the only thing great about the breakfast. This place is pretty good. Has a nice old french scenery (lot of foreign people). The breakfast is different than your typical dennys or ihop. The pancakes were thicc and fluffy and their hashbrowns quite scrumdeliumpcious, cheesy and moist. Their coffee is very yummy. This was my first visit here and I will definitely be returning. My son (11 years old) and I came here for brunch. Let me say the food was great. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich. The croissant was amazing. My son had the Bon Appetit breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly. He opted for the waffle which he claims is the best he has ever had. I had a sample of it from his plate and it was crisp yet fluffy and soft. Gotta admit it was pretty good. The specialty coffee was the absolute best and will give Starbucks a run for the money. Lots of people said that Bon Appetit is modeled after La Madeleine 's as if that chain of restaurants invented the French café . But really, the comparison ends there as this small scale local version is so preferable. Food is fresh and prepared with good technique. I mean, I can scramble eggs in a microwave better than La Madeleine's. The ones at Bon Appetit were tender and delicious. All the servers were really pleasant and the food came out fast. Sort of funny being in that space without the lanterns and chopsticks. It's housed one Chinese restaurant after another for so long I thought there was some sort of city ordinance. Anyway. It's plain but cute inside. I like the little wicker seating area. Wish it was open for dinner or even later for coffee and pastries instead of Starbucks but what can you do? I hate to give this restaurant a poor rating, however, when my husband & I ate Sunday breakfast here the food came out cold. It was obvious the bacon, waffle & scrambled eggs were pre-cooked. We wound up eating the eggs & taking the rest home. Once the food was reheated, it was good. We probably won't go back here. Particularly since there's no table service. You order at the front, get a number, and the beverages and bread/butter/jam are self-serve. That's where the similarities end. I had a croissant and a fruit/yogurt parfait. I was not impressed. Fabulous first visit! I had the bon appetit breakfast with eggs, croissant, and bacon... everything was perfect! I love softly scrambled eggs and these were delicious and creamy! I initially said "delightful" because as you walk in you are greeted with cases of beautiful pastries, baked goods and a salad bar. We placed our order and sat down. My husband ordered the Caesar sandwich wich came with a small salad. I ordered a cup of potato cream soup, Caesar salad and croissant. Our food came out one at a time (with about 5 min or so in between ), first my soup, then his salad, then my salad, then his sandwich and finally my croissant. I had to send the soup back as there was an empty wrapper/sugar packet in the soup. As we sat I couldn't help but notice the waitress wandering aimlessly through the dining area with food plates in her hands trying to figure out where the food went. When she got to the table the food was auctioned off. I don't like that. Know your orders and where, and to whom they go to.
