I'm really curious if the cooks really know what real galbi-tang tastes like. It's definitely not suppose to be sweet like the one I ordered. I got served large beef bones with very little meat on them (as if they expect me to chew on it like a dog). Additionally, the meat is suppose to be tender and not rough when pulling apart from the bone. The asian server with the Justin bieber hairstyle that works the front register needs an attitude adjustment, as well. This place is a disgrace to korean food. read more

Tasted Average, over priced, overrated, small portion size. Not recommend. This place will charge you every single side dishes that normally comes with meal for free at Korean restaurants. It costs $1 to $1.50 to order one side dish, such as kimchi, when you order the main dishes. No refill for side dishes is permitted. Average Korean restaurant serves at least 4 to 6 side dishes with main dish order so if you're looking for a traditional Korean style meal, it could be very costly. I ordered beef rib clear noodle soup and other. Noodle in the soup was literally 3 bites worth. I would choose elsewhere for good Korean food. There are plenty of nice Korean restaurants. Ordered the tteokboki hot pot and galbi, both delicious. Galbi was thick cut and you can tell the meat was high quality. Customer service was great. They don't serve booze there yet, but there's a liquor store right next door in the plaza, and you can bring it in for a small "corkage fee" so we went and bought a bottle of peach Soju (really good!) My biggest complaint is that they charge for each little side of bonchon (Korean side dishes such as kimchi, etc). This is definitely NOT the Korean way of authentic Korean dining. I understand their concerns of waste, but that's why you serve very small amounts of everything and refill as necessary. I feel like the best Korean joints serve a big variety of bonchon, and it's ALWAYS complimentary! read more

The bon galbi (LA galbi) was some of the best we've had and rivals what we've tried at other BBQ joints in LA and NYC. It was very thick and tender OMG! Also Rachel was one of the best waitresses i have ever had. she was funny and helped us make our choices. Second time dine in here, first time I loved it they are really good, we tried bimbibab, and Gamja Tang. And we came back yesterday to try other dishes as Galbi Tang, Mackerel. Their prices are ok but not in the cheap side $17-30 per meal, and you need to purchase the side dishes separately. Even in food court with half the price they includes the side dishes... it is just so incomplete to have Korean meal without their signature side dishes. Additional cost can easily another $5-10. Purchased the galbijjim and maybe because I've eaten this dish homemade before from an authentic Korean mama, this fell extremely short. Glass noodles were fine, broth tasted like water and soy sauce, beef bones were bland, and they don't provide sides with this entre? Strange! Completely trash and incompetent service. I called them ahead of time at 7:45pm and asked to see if it was busy, if there was enough space for 2 people and if we needed to sign our names on the wait-list. Whoever was on the phone said no, there was plenty of space, we should just come in and no need to sign our names on the list. I said ok, we'll be there in 15 minutes. My party and I drove there and once we got there the hostess said the restaurant was CLOSED while the restaurant still had plenty of space and people and they don't close until 9pm. The hostess made some half-ass excuse about other people there and the owner saying that they're closed. Wth? I JUST called and your restaurant confirmed that we could come in for dinner and reassured us there was plenty of space. Wasted our time with their incompetence. It's a hard time right now and everyone is dealing with the set-backs of CoVid-19. But that doesn't mean you can waste your customer's time with lies and trash service. I don't post negative reviews unless there are extenuating circumstances or the food was just completely inedible. This was one of those extenuating circumstances where they totally screwed over the customer and didn't give a sh*t. ***BTW, we went over to PHAT EATERY instead where they have great customer service, great food and bomb ass Malaysian milk tea. I must admit... I eat here at least once a week. That's how much I love the simplicity of the food is here. There's just a handful of dishes I like. i.e. the pork belly, galbi tang, other pork soups and squid pancake...I'm not fond of the bulgogi. I think they can do better. This place is a must try restaurant if you go to Katy Asian Town in Houston. The foods here are fantastic; they're even better if you enjoy them with alcohol in a cold day. This restaurant charges $5 for every table if you bring your own bottles of liquor, which is super cheap compared to any restaurant. FYI, they charge for banchan (side dishes) which is not a big deal if you come here for the main dishes. Highly recommended! read more

I use to love this place so I was really disappointed the last time I came in to eat. I brought my out of town friend to enjoy a meal here because in the past I really enjoyed their food and had eaten there many times but unfortunately our experience was not very good. They now charge you for side dishes which in the past were free and the guy who works there now was not very friendly. He seemed to have a very unkind attitude and while we were still eating and not even close to finished they gave us the check. We did not ask for the check yet. This spot is a great place to have Korean food! The side dishes were really refreshing. I'm not usually a kimchi fan, but their kimchi was tasty even for me. I appreciated that wasn't super tart and wasn't too salty. The lotus root side was also also really good. It had some kind of nutty white sauce and the lotus itself had a satisfying crunchy texture. For my main dishes, I got the squid ink pancake and seafood soup pot. I loved the squid ink pancake! It was unique and fun to see a black, inky Korean pancake being served to us. I liked how crispy it was and how it wasn't slick with oil. The pancake also had bits of squid and veggies in it. The soup pot was also good. It had 2 large shrimps, a mini crab, lots of tofu and an egg. The serving size was enough for 2 people to share. I appreciated that the server gave us 2 bowls rice on the side without us having to say anything because he figured we wanted to share. Many other places only give one bowl of rice per stone pot dish unless you pay extra. Will be coming back for more in the future! read more

Katy Chinatown is steadily usurping Bellaire Chinatown and this restaurant is a classic example of why that is occurring. Although not as robust a menu as the Spring Branch Korean restaurants Bon Galbi has a unique flair and even under the duress of current operations both the service and food is well worth the experience. I'll forego the Korean names as I am not fluent and certainly don't want the reader to miss any of the meal I experienced. As an appetizer I had the seafood pancake which is far different in both texture and presentation of other pancakes but well portioned with generous inclusion of octopus and squid...quite light and absolutely delicious. The spicy beef rib soup is not a meal for first time daters..it is akin to a Fred Flintstone rack of ribs well seasoned in what is a tear jerking broth...if you enjoy spicy food this is precisely the meal to order. I would generally have offered a criticism about the paucity of kimchi's but because I had the spicy salted, don't let salted scare you away, mackerel which was a meal in itself. If you are spoiled with truly authentic Korean food you would not enjoy the food here. I came in with high hopes for this place after reading the reviews but I left with to go boxes thinking if I starve myself the food would taste better. They put too much MSG in the Galbi Tang and it tastes slightly similar to badly cooked pho broth which I don't understand how since the ingredients are different. The squid pancake is sort of okay. And the bibimbop is pretty bad and tasteless. Overall if I were to judge this place solely on food it would have 1 star. I had the standard bulgogi and it good. It had mushrooms with long stems, and I've never had bulgogi with mushrooms so I picked them off. Overall a tasty meal, but not the bulgogi they make in S.Korea for sure. I'd go back through. read more

At first look I didn't think much of it but after looking at the pictures outside we thought what the hell let's try it. We didn't think the dishes would come out like the posters on the windows.... it was better! The galbi soup does come with rice and 3!!!!! BEEF RIB!!!! I honestly didn't think it would have that meat but I'm very happy that it did. The pancake on the other hand need to be pan fry a little longer for that crispy crunch.
