I am giving Bonchon a five star rating for excellent customer service. I placed a take-out order and, when I got home, I noticed that I was missing a pickled radish (which was one of the reasons I went to Bonchon). I called and spoke with the owner, Lock, who remembered me. When I told him what had happened, Lock immediately apologized and wanted to make it right by offering to drive to my house and deliver the pickled radish. I advised him it wasn't necessary since it was partly my fault for not checking my order before I left the restaurant. Lock was insistent in dropping off the radish, which he ended up doing. I have had similar situations with other Petaluma restaurants, and all I got from these restaurants were the "I'm sorry that happened" comment. None of them offered to rectify the situation. So, Lock, thank you and I am definitely going back to Bonchon and will bring friends and family. As for food, I've only had the wings with soy and garlic sauce so far, and I'm giving the quality and the taste of the food five stars as well. I can't wait to return to Bonchon and try their other dishes. read more

I was so excited to finally have KFC in the county but I'm sorry to say the chicken is good but not good enough, in my opinion, to warrant the price. Terrible service, no accountability, and for fast food, why would I bother eating here ever again? The order was over an hour late, food was cold. We won't be back. Fast food is not fast here. We had Bonchon chicken once before about 9 years ago in Arlington, VA and were blown away. I would bet that the Petaluma location is a franchise. They were very understaffed for a Friday afternoon at around 5:00 PM. The inside has all the ambiance of a tiny school cafeteria. We had to wait about 40 minutes in line to place our to-go order. It took another 40 minutes to get our order. Everything did not fare well on the trip home. The sauces we ordered were missing and the chicken had lost most of its' crispiness, The fried rice with spicy chicken was pretty bland and the potstickers had also lost their crispiness. All and all it was a pretty lousy experience. We have no incentive to go back...life is too short to wait so long for such mediocre food. read more

I tried this place yesterday. I saw the pic of the chicken sandwich, which looked great. The chicken was bigger than the bun and the cole slaw was flowing off the sandwich. I was asked seasoned or regular fries. I picked season. The attendant did not tell me seasoned was a dollar more. After a small wait the meal arrived. the sandwich looked like it was the kid meal it was so small and very dry and overcooked. Total bill with tip (15%)for no service at all was $18.00. This was my first time trying. The food was okay not worth the wait. I would try it again to give it another chance but i was mainly disappointed with the staff. First the guy taking our orders was going back and forth from taking our order and talking to the staff regarding a missing order he missed up, this should've been a red flag. Then took a while to get our food and we were missing items. i had to wait 15 minutes in line to get the items they forgot while my food was as getting cold. I am not sure if this was right but one order of wings didn't get a dipping sauce so when i went up they charged me for a dip. Everywhere i have gone at least one dip is included with the wings. The service here is great they are a little slow because they are new and it's been super busy the two times I've gone! Well, we finally made it there for lunch. Unfortunately they are very disorganized. My wife ordered chicken Katsu and the chicken came out like jerky. It was dry had very little sauce and white rice that has nothing on it? I got a eight piece combo that was decent. The drumsticks were three times the size of the wings, and there was very little sauce on both. I would give them some time to get their act together and hopefully run smoother than they are right now...good luck! read more

You've been open one month, considering the reviews, something should be done about the wait times. 45 minutes in line and another 30 to get food is asinine. I get it, this isn't "fast" food by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not a fancy restaurant either, to be able to justify the pathetic wait times. Not only that, but maybe be considerate to those who actually did stay to give this sorry establishment a chance, by providing some sort of seating while you wait. Another thing or two, maybe put blinds up so the sun isn't shining in your face, upping the melanoma risk while you wait. And the silence, no music? Is that so I can hear my body start to decompose while I wait? Wi-Fi doesn't work, the lights are flickering (is that PG&E reminding them to pay the light bill?) People getting food out of order too. As a Korean I should write the review. I am not going to talk about the food today. I am pretty negligent about the authenticity of foods indicates a certain country. But if your business signifies a certain country, you shouldn't put the country's flag upside down. I don't know how long this place has been open for the business but being there the first time and seeing the flag is upside down made me offended. If you are American (or Mexican, Chinese) and you see your flag presented that way wouldn't you stay calm? It is controversial matter the shop owner should handle it immediately. read more

I've been to several Bonchon restaurants. My first one was in Berkeley, and then San Jose. This place is nothing like those restaurants it may have the same name and some of the same dishes, but the presentation overall was horrible. Everything we ordered from the Korean tacos, Bulgogi, fried rice & chicken wings were ok, the chicken wings were served on a platter, and everything else in red to go containers so not what I'm used to in a Bonchon restaurants. In the other locations, everything is served on real dishes, and you get real silverware here it was nothing like that. The staff lacked knowledge on the dishes & pronunciation of the food, and believe me, I know korean dishes my husband is Korean and he completely agreed. We were extremely disappointed as we were expecting what we are used to when we go to a Bonchon restaurant. We definitely won't return. We spent over $140.00 for minimal food when at the other restaurants, you get enough food to share with at least 3 people. Also, you don't get the traditional side dishes like at the other restaurants, so no kimchi & there's no beer served either. read more

They are definitely having some opening issues. We've tried to go three times now and it hasn't worked out. The first time, there was a long line inside and as soon as we walked in, people were walking out past us saying that they were just told the wait in line would be another hour. A few days later decided to try again but the online ordering app wasn't taking any orders. I called but nobody answered the phone. And then a few days ago, on a Monday we drove over thinking Monday might be less busy... and we pull up on all their lights are off with a handmade sign on the door saying "power outage" - yet all the adjacent businesses had their power on. read more

This is a great stop for quick and delicious meal. We got the chicken sandwich, one with the Korean bbq sauce and the other spicy, and both were amazing! The chicken was cooked so well, and it didn't take long for the food to come out even though it was made to order. On top of the good food, the lady that helped us was so nice and friendly. This is my second time here in 6 weeks. I love the chicken but the order size does not match the website. Minimum order for wings is now 8, on the website they have a 3 wing combo with coleslaw and a small Korean donut. This is totally not available. Eight wings is totally too much for someone over 70. I'd even go for 5 or 6 wings But a minimum of 8 is crazy given the size of the wings. McDonalds has better fries. Sorry to say I won't be back. read more

I know working out the kinks of a new business but having only one TRAINING cashier during the lunch rush is just a mistake by management. I understand the need to train but that should never be during a lunch rush with people almost out the door. Manager needed to make a mgr decision and take over for a bit until lunch crowd slows.
