Sunday night take out order around 6pm. Try to order from yelp, it said preorder only...Which is strange. So try to call them to place an order, but no one pick up after many calls. Since we are near by, we go in the store to order. They are busy on to go orders, which needs to wait for 45 mins to pick up (but only a few tables for dine in). Only one cashier and one waiter on the floor, there are few people ahead of us, no wonder no one picks up the phone. Service is friendly. We order medium wings half soy and half spicy, and a salmon ball. Packing is poor. They didn't label which box is spicy and which is soy. Even worst...The salmon ball is super oily, and they out it vertically which the oil spill all over the plastic bag, and when I take it out, my hand is full of oil, luckily didn't make my clothes dirty. I will not order the salmon ball again, too oily and taste is so-so. Wings are meh...(I had better fried chicken somewhere else ). This is my go-to Bonchon in the SJ area. I always order a large combo with half soy garlic and half spicy. The drumsticks they give you are humongous!! I love that the spicy actually has a good amount of kick to it. Workers are always friendly here and my order is usually done quickly by the time I come to pick it up. Even after the chicken has been sitting in the box, the chicken still remains crunchy and juicy - this is not the case with other locations (for some reason?). So I really wanted to like this place since it's so close to home. I really love the KFC at the Bonchon in Sunnyvale. Unfortunately this place hasn't quite worked out the kinks. Let me start with something positive. The flavor of the sauce was good, as was the daikon. Unfortunately, the chicken (which should have been the star of the meal) was cold and some pieces were slightly overcooked and actually dry. I suspect my chicken was cooked way quicker than they had estimated. I showed up right on time, but I am pretty sure my chicken had been sitting there for at least 10 minutes. Also, the usually delicious coleslaw was bland and soggy. This is not typical for Bonchon. I'm sad to say that at this point I cannot recommend this location to my friends. However, if I end up going back and it's delicious, I'll be happy to sing their praises. Until then, I can only give this location three stars. read more

Bon Chon in the Almaden/Cambrian area yay and finally! I have been to the one in Sunnyvale numerous times for lunch. However if there is one thing that location has learned is that expect the unexpected as the crowds and take out orders can rush in at anytime! But they are fast and I mean fast. People who commutes to the Cupertino/Mtn View/Palo Alto area can now rejoice in our neighborhood!!! We got our own Bon Chon!! So this review is based on service only and not the food itself. This is the second time I am ordering via Take Out (used the text number they suggested) and asked my daughter to text them the order while I watch the Warriors game and try to see if they can come back from a 34 point deficit in the 3rd quarter which seems impossible at this point in Oklahoma. Anyhow back to my point, they told us it will take up to 50 minutes to have the order completed for a Large Combo Soy, Shumai, & Bibibmap. They didn't have Udon Noodle soup just yet so it was disappointing to my other daughter. I hope they start to get their hours (soft/trial hours for now), service and other food items on the menu to the customer's (when you look at the take out menu it is best to call first then cross out the ones that isn't available/ready, then text what you really want the next time) if they don't, this place will not get the recognition as the other locations (except for Fremont/Newark as I have yet to try their new location). Having a potluck in this neighborhood would satisfy any residence party as this establishment is in the right area where there is already an eclectic and diverse food options and Bon Chon just compliments the diversity. Decrease the take out the time and open up the other food items and soon this place will start to attract more people. read more

Placed order to go for wings with pickled radishes and complimentary pot stickers. Was told order would be ready in 15 minutes. When I returned I was told they were out of potstickers but substituted fries without asking me if that was acceptable plus the potstickers were of a much higher value than French fry's and I don't eat French fry's. When I got home there was also no pickled radishes. I called them and all they offered was an apology. I would have thought they would have at least offered some compensation for a future visit. This was the first time going there and drove from Campbell to try their food and I will not be going back. read more

Best wings, hands down. Have you ever eaten chicken wings and the skin is slimy or so soft that you have to remove it before eating the wings? Then you realize that you're eating plain chicken because all of the seasoning was on the skin that you removed. Well, there's a better place to go to for awesomely seasoned and crispy fried wings where you can enjoy the wonderful flavor and crunchy wings. It's called Bonchon. Not like the side dishes you get at a restaurant. They serve beer and fries too, a necessary compliment when eating delicious spicy wings. This chicken is so good. It is super crunchy and perfectly cooked. Both sauces (garlic Soy and Spicy) are really tasty and don't make the chicken soggy. Make sure to ask for picked radishes (Daikon, I think). They make it all the much better. Pretty pricy for fried chicken - but worth a treat now and then. read more

Very sad service delivery. I was waiting almost 50 minutes for my order. All they kept telling me is that my order is almost done, just waiting on fries. 20 minutes later same excuse. The fries were hot but the wings both bone in and boneless were room temperature. The food is good and the staff was courteous but what is happening in the kitchen is total chaos. Spending close to $40 and to end up frustrated not acceptable. Hire more people if you need. read more

Recently opened Korean restaurant in Princeton Plaza mall located behind the McDonalds. I had high hopes for this restaurant but I must have ordered the wrong items. The interior is nice and there is a long counter for people to sit at as well. They server beer, wine and shochu sake. The best dish I had was actually a free side of pickled daikon. I would recommend not ordering the following - Chicken strips - too chewy and overdone. The wings and drumsticks are probably the way to go. The sauces they flavor the chicken with was pretty good. Fried Rice - too much sesame oil for my taste. Kimchi coleslaw - more like a dipping sauce or porridge and cuts of slaw are way too small. The bulgogi sliders were OK. They were in the bland side. Maybe if they included sauce on the side, it would have been better. The service was good. On the pricey side for a Korean fried chicken place. read more

Ok I've ordered from here for many many years. From 2014 I just loved the chicken here. I would order at least once a month until I moved. 2020 covid happened and I was excited that they do doordash. Chicken was smaller. And that's still ok, but what happened to the flavor??? O can't even taste the sauce. The reason I come for is this Soy garlic sauce that takes me to heaven! And radish came in a tiny size sauce cup. I loved the radish too and I remember the large size it came with huge 2 cups of them. I thought maybe they are having hard time and it was just a bad batch. So ordered twice just to be sure it was an mistake. But it wasn't... I understand the size or the radish. But if you kill the flavor why order it from here? Absolutely had a pleasant time. I ordered the salmon appetizer, the wings and drum stick combo. My wife ordered the Udon bolgogi. The only thing was not really a soda refill or ice tea... those wings were spicy and i sure would have loved more soda but i handled it with water. The waiter was awesome. The buttons on the table to call the waiter was phenomenal. I pressed it twice and in a matter of seconds he was there with drinks (water) and on another occasion with extras... and that with no attitude. We had a aparty of 7 and food was fast and hot. They always run out of slaw. Also very slow, even when the place is empty. The bathroom is not too clean. Update: I just read on another review that they'd tell you they're out of cole slaw even when they're not, because it's a more expensive option than the radish. I think you should just tell your customer you don't give out cole slaw as a free side. I'd still pay for it as an extra side. Lying to your customer is not a good business plan. read more

YUMM. It has been a while since I had bonchon chicken and this place killed it. I picked up a small order for myself and immediately ordered a large one for the rest of my family the following night. The chicken is well cooked and crispy. They accommodate to your spice levels and it is very easy to pick what level you are. I like how they have an option to get both drumsticks and wings. Sometimes you want a little bit of both, and this bonchon place allows to have that. They do close really early (maybe it's just early for me) so don't forget to put in your order early! read more

This is our favorite Bonchon to go to! Though the one on Capitol Expressway is closer to us, the service, set-up, atmosphere, and furniture is much better here. I forgot the name of the guy that served us, but he was awesome. He hooked me up with Happy Hour beer pricing even though I was a little late! Though I just had one beer, it's great to see people taking care of people. He mentioned to me because it was the Lunar New Year celebration, he can discount my beer. He cleaned up my son's water spill accident. The chicken is always awesome! I'm not a fan of the sauce drizzle as they used to have the whole chicken skin flavored, but the flavor is addicting whether it's all over the chicken or not. We also tried the short rib, and it was a reminder of why they are a fried chicken joint. The short rib wasn't bad, but it isn't worth the price tag. I've been to this location a couple times before and wasn't impressed but I drove by today and saw that they were under new management and wanted to see if anything improved and I was met with good impressions, the flavor of the wings improved and so did the texture with the crispness that they were lacking before and the pickled radish that came with it was nice too, but the spicy rice cake that they had was phenomenal and I would recommend that for anyone that wants something extra with the wings. read more

I know bonchon is a chain but surprisingly it was my first visit ever! Came with a group of about 18 people and they did a great job serving us. The interior is modern and cuter than I imagine it would look. I ordered the teokbokki and it was so yummy! It's huge too and basically feeds me twice lol. It's got a great kick to it. The rice cakes were so soft and they give a great amount of fish cakes. I've always loved Korean rice cakes but have never had it topped with mozerella and kimari. This Bonchon is situated in a plaza with ample parking and I haven't had an issue with it so far. I like this location just slightly less than the one in Cupertino for the mere fact that they charge $2 for rice (and the Cupertino location wasn't doing that when this one opened up/not sure what that location's policy on rice is now). Despite the up charge on rice, the flavor at this location is always very consistent and they make the spicy sauce so deliciously spicy. The quality of the wings is also pretty good and I still find my mouth salivating once I smell the fried chicken. This location also has more of a variety on the appetizers than some of the other locations, but I haven't tried them yet because the wings are where it's at. Basically my recommendation is to order to go, let the sauces marinate the wings for a little bit while you're driving back home, and enjoy your takeout with rice that you made yourself. read more

I've been to various BonChon locations over the years but this has to be the worse experience. Stopped by for dinner and it was sparsely occupied. I recall being here before and never this empty. Good for me as I hate the long wait I thought. I ordered my food and about 20 minutes later the food finally arrived. It wasn't awful but not good either. Not sure what took them so long to put out such a mediocre meal. Fast forward to the end when with a fork in my hand, still unfinished with my meal, the waiter took the plate in front of me. I normally would have said something like "WTF, I'm still eating man", but I didn't. I wanted to gauge the aptitude of this being in its native habitat. One of the bad bonchon places we've tried. One of the worst mistakes you can do with chicken wings is not coat them with any sauce and these guys consistently have this peoblem. Half the wings are either completely or partially without any sauce at all. Just bland fried wings. How hard is it to make sure that the wings are coated with sauce? After a few times of this experience, I thought I should try the extra sauce option (+$2 extra) and still see the same issue. Never ordering here again. read more

FOOD POISONING UPDATE: After the experience my family and I endured, I reported this Bonchon location to the "County of Santa Clara Department of Environmental Health" who immediately completed an inspection. While there were no issues with "food handling", the inspector did want to highlight that this location has a "hand washing issue". This issue resulted in my whole family contracting Norovirus. While I do appreciate that the owner of this location contacted me and tried telling me that "That kind of (probably) viral infection can be contracted at various places", we had the leftovers tested as well as our blood and stools tested. Lo and behold, guess where we got it from. I really wouldn't make such a fuss over this, but my 3 year old son was violently vomiting and unconscious in the ER from this which was extremely traumatizing enough. I will admit that the food here is delicious and the ladies + manager are really kind/friendly, the thought of someone in the kitchen not washing their hands after using the restroom and preparing food afterwards makes me sick. I love my mama of course but NOPE, I aint driving 1.5hrs to deliver soggy chikans to her! So I looked up yelp and find bonchon again. I decided to give another try. I called in to order to-go. A lady who picked up the phone call answered to my questions super nicely, and she spoke Korean fairly well. I ordered medium size half&half again. Sweet spicy & soy garlic. If they are too salty and savory, I would eat them with rice and salad I make at home or something. So I walk in to the store about 15mins after I called to pickup the food. I paid 27dollars total. I come home and opened my plastic bag, with tad bit of excitement. But I should have known better. YES, medium box had 15pieces of chicken. Mix of wings, drumsticks, and small stuff. So they were honest about that. HOWEVER, ALL THE PIECES WERE SO SMALL THAT when I put all 15pieces on a plate, they did not look appetizing at all. Serving size was SO disappointing. Mom and I laughed so hard. We should've gone to either American Restaurant to get fried chicken, or go to Vons if the traffic was not bad. Some of those 15 Chicken pieces were eaten mostly by me with rice and salad i made at home. Then the rest was left in fridge for next two days and went straight to garbage can. :( Please do not togo their chicken. Great food but pricy (4 out of 5 )! I would choose this place over Popeye's, KFC, Chick-Fil-A, &Church's Chicken anytime. They don't compare to BonChon Chicken!! I really like the location of this Bon chon plenty of parking. It has become on of my favorite spots during quarantine. The only item that wasn't what I expected was the chicken Katsu; the chicken was overcooked and really grainy. Everything else that came with it was spot on good. Went there yesterday to pick up our medium wings (20 half and half (half spicy half soy)) with radish. We LOVE BONCHON! I've been craving it so we drove from SF to support this location in particular Cos i ordered catering before and their customer service was so on point! This time I called in to order and she offered me a 10% discount! The staff here is super nice and friendly. My order was ready in 15 minutes like they said. They even have hand sanitizer for you at the front. Since we couldn't dine in due to covid, we went to a local park and enjoyed a little nice picnic the chicken has a nice and crispy skin and the meat is so tender and juicy!
