Bonchon, the Korean fried chicken. I don't find it addictive, but it's definitely quite delicious. I had my first Bonchon experience at the Hyattsville location, which has the charm of a Hometown Buffet, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that the new Navy Yard location feels quite hip and stylish. I love the chicken. I'm partial to the strips, but the drums and wings are a hit. Your sauce options are soy-ginger and hot...the hot is very hot. Ask for half and half so you can alternate getting your mouth burned. Our starters were the potstickers (yum) and the edamane - both are great options. Service was excellent! To start with they deserved this 5 star. Service was excellent never had this kind of service before anywhere. But this place showed our group how to be treated as one of the special guest. The place was not that packed when we walked in. So excited to try there chicken wings. (Had been to NY but had no chance to try the restaurant because they are so packed) and this time I can try there famous amazing wings. Dawn our server was the best ever. She recommend one of the best selling soju and took our orders as we are starving or we can say craving for the wings. In our surprise, one of the managers approach our table and apologized to us for waiting for a while and handed us another bottle of soju. We were astonished for that gesture and Dawn came over and once again apologized and guaranteed that out wings is on its way. And after a short wait our much awaited wings arrived. The chicken wing is so crispy and juicy, the best wings I ever had. Wish they have this in Tampa, Florida. And while we are enjoying our wings one of the host came to our table and served us salad courtesy of the restaurant. I already enjoyed the bottle of soju, chicken wings and now the salad. My friends and I ordered a large combo (wings + drums) and japchae through DoorDash for Galentine's. The fried chicken breading was light and crispy despite having hung out with the soy-garlic sauce during delivery, and the chicken itself was oh so tender and moist. It was also my first time having japchae, and that was yummy too! Because we got the soy-garlic sauce I can't comment on the spicy flavor, but I can tell you that the soy-garlic flavor is not too garlicky, and it's a little sweet. Some of the best wings I've ever had! They're pricey, but if you split one of the larger platters with a friend, it's more than worth it. Made the trip out to Navy Yard to grab Bonchon and catch up with a few friends over drinks. The food was great--super crispy, lots of sauce, a solid A for a Korean fried chicken place. Service was friendly but also on the slower and inattentive side, it took forever to find someone to get our check and refill our waters, even though the restaurant was only half full. Inside is really posh and modern, lots of natural light and white laminate and metal surfaces. They had 6-8ish beers on tap when we were there, all solid standard offerings, nothing super exciting. Overall, I would definitely come here again! But probably not make a special trip out to Navy Yard on a Sunday again, just if I were in the area! read more

This is the newest Bonchon in the area, and I love how close I live to it. I can basically walk 15 minutes and get some awesome fried chicken. I have been to another Bonchon location, and the only bone I have to pick is that the food is prepared a little differently. The Takoyaki does not have the same/proper amount of bonito flakes on top. I'm visiting D.C. for a few days and almost never feel inclined to write Yelp reviews honestly, but these have got to be the best chicken wings I ever ate! I ordered a small combo (dinner portion) and was very pleased with the portions and flavor. The soy wings were a great balance to the heat of the spicy wings, which are pretty spicy and leave a nice heat in your mouth. The wings are also super crispy and have the perfect crunch. Out for a week from San Diego. I'm staying a block away from Bonchon. I started with the happy hour pork belly buns. They were crunchy, fatty, sweet, with a touch of vinegar. I had to try the wings, so went with half garlic soy and half hot. The garlic soy are easy to recommend. The hot were spicier than I expected...in a good way. I really liked the flavor. They're not just about heat. The wings were meaty and crunchy! Great tap list. I went with a couple of local pints and was not disappointed. The service was also solid. And we got half soy-garlic and half spicy for both items. And holy crap, spicy meant spicy. But I enjoyed it. I've had the wings (both flavors) from this location about 15 times since opening. I love the flavors, the presentation, the fried-ness (if that's a thing), and overall the simplicity of the menu. The only thing that makes me sad as a BonChon customer, is that at this particular location, no matter how small of an order, it always takes 35 minutes or more to receive my food. The waitstaff is mostly pretty good, but sometimes I sit at the bar because bartenders know how to keep your water filled up. So rather than a quick lunch at BonChon, I have to remember it's a long date. If they had wifi I would just work from there! Food is solid though, once you get it. read more

Wow - I've been to several Bon Chon's so I've come to know the menu pretty well. A friend and I came in for food. It was after the dinner rush, so there were plenty of tables and we got quickly seated. We have a waiter who was being trained under a waitress. No big deal- he seems nice and we're in no rush. Everything seems to be going normally and our chicken shows up. The wings were great, as always. The waitress and waiter never come to check up on us... or to refill our water. We finish the chicken and we had to wait 20 mins to find the two serving our table to request the check. 15 minutes later, they are both nowhere to be seen so I flag down the next employee I see and request the bill. We get the bill and wait for our waiter/waitress to come get it. We wait another 10-15 mins and I happen to look out the window... and see the two of them walking back towards the restaurant... THEY LEFT THE RESTAURANT AND WERE WALKING BACK... totally awful service and unacceptable. It should never take 45 minutes to try to pay the bill at an empty restaurant. Will not be returning to this location anytime soon. read more

The chicken here is pretty awesome. The soy garlic is by far my favorite flavor. The chicken is fried in a way that that's very different than typical fried chicken. The french fries are also a delight with a kick butt sauce and the service has always been stellar. My colleagues and I enjoy handing out there after work for a nice bite to eat. Got there early and the young lady and gentleman informed me that my order was not ready and the young lady chuckled saying I still had 11 minutes. At 6:17 PM it was finally ready after standing outside in the cold and checking with them twice. Chicken was good but got no napkins or utensils for my coleslaw, evengave a tip. Be warned, when they say spicy they MEAN it. Luckily the waitress brought lots of water. Don't be afraid of the soy garlic....there's not enough garlic that you'll need to eat a Box of mints afterwards.
