Food was just ok. I would have preferred Olive Garden - cheaper and same quality food. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese. I've had way better. My sister said her salmon wasn't great (she said the salmon she's had at Yard House is much better). Presentation of this plate was also very lacking, in my opinion. For a "higher-end" restaurant, you'd expect better quality in all aspects. It was a piece of salmon tossed over a bed of bland beans. My husband's Chicken Piccata was also not it. Presentation for this plate was very poor. Service was mediocre. They sat us pretty fast without reservation on a Saturday at 6 p.m. nothing to write home about with this place. We paid 62$ for a soggy ribeye steak that was initially well done (I ordered medium) and soaked in gravy that wasn't even mentioned on the menu. The waiter said it was an oil they put on all their steaks but this was not oil but gravy to hide the poor quality meat. They remade my steak to medium and brought it without the gravy . the steak had barely any sear on it. It was bland. No salt. The roasted potatoes that came with the meal were undercooked. We had dined at this restaurant a year ago and I remember having a good meal. I don't know if the chef, management, or owners have changed but the meat quality as well as preparation was terrible. Bond 45 is an Italian-themed steakhouse that has an art-deco vibe and nostalgic feel, with great views of the waterfront and surrounding action. This was my second visit to Bond 45 and I must say that both experiences were outstanding. The first time for a happy hour and dinner for 2. The second visit (my most recent visit) was for a large Birthday Dinner Party of 15! We chose Bond 45 for the location and its proximity to enjoy all the nightlife bars/outlets around the National Harbor and MGM; after the dinner party. Needless to say, we were well treated and I enjoyed the food on both occasions! For starters, this place huge, with both indoor and outdoor seating. It is more than accommodating and fitting for large dinner parties and groups. It is recommended that you arrange reservations early as to it can get very busy here on weekends. I contacted the host/reservation manager, Bambi a week prior. She was outstanding and made sure that everything was perfect for the event before arriving on a busy, Saturday night. We were seated in a private space that had the right amount of seating and it was great for being able to enjoy dinner conversation amongst the group; without competing with other people or groups dining around you. The restaurant itself tends to be very busy and alive with lots of people dining and walking around, but the vibe of the space where we was sitting was very private and a cozy atmosphere. It couldn't have been more fitting for our group. We started out with apps and of course, drinks! Everything was great. A few standouts and "must-try's" were the: * CRISPY SHRIMP & CALAMARI -- Large serving and seasoned! * NONNA'S MEATBALLS -- Huge meatballs. Tender, juicy and not a lot of filler. * CRAB ALFREDO FRIES -- Hot, crispy fries drenched with Parmesan Alfredo sauce & a decent amount of crab meat on top. As for the main-course, with 15 people in our party, we ordered just about everything off the menu. There were a few standouts that were on point and delicious: * PRIME DRY AGED TOMAHAWK STEAK -- Huge 24oz., bone-in steak that was prepared perfectly. * CHICKEN PARMIGIANA -- Solid, heavy plate of coated chicken cutlets fried, seasoned and layered with lots of cheese and sauce that's finger licking good! This place is a 10/10! The service was great, the aesthetic was nice but the food was even better! We started our dinner off with drinks and the Bianca Sangria is the perfect cocktail! I did sample before trying and after the first sip I knew I was ordering! My dates drink was mixed to perfection too! The appetizer was delish but it didn't compare to the Seafood Linguine! If you want order this dish I say do it was the white sauce, the red sauce is yum but the white sauce pairs really nicely with the seafood! They don't have complementary bread, but garlic bread is one the menu. It's great! We ordered two it was that great but a little expensive at $8 an order. The drinks were really really tasty and strong. The entrees were plenty we took most of the food home for lunch that next day. The space itself was sexy but chill. I had dinner with a group of 9 coworkers at Bond 45 National Harbor on a Thursday evening. We were able to come in with a same-day reservation and were promptly seated. The atmosphere is very classic and classy Italian restaurant, a little old-school and very nice. The most stand-out thing about our evening was the service, which was absolutely phenomenal. Our server was an older gentleman and I wish I knew his name so I could give him the recognition he deserves, but he was wonderful! Bond 45 seems like a great spot to take a date, or for a special occasion. However the food is definitely pricey, and I felt the dishes were 50/50 hit or miss. As we had a large group, we were able to order several appetizers served family style, which I would highly recommend if you are also visiting with a large group. For me, the appetizers were the stand-outs of our meal. They were far more delicious than the entrée I ended up choosing (scallops). -Caesar salad (authentic dressing, fresh ingredients, one of the best I've tried) -Housemade Meatballs (amazingly delicious, juicy, and perfectly seasoned) -Steamed Mussels (appetizer, not served family style. Definitely one of my favorite items of the evening!) I honestly would have just loved more of the starters in retrospect, because I was very disappointed with my Seared Scallops entrée. For $32, you only receive 4 scallops. The chickpea puree was a weird combination and the mushrooms added to the out-of-sync feel of the dish. The scallops were so salty (and I love salt!) and sadly so overdone that I didn't finish them. Luckily I had also ordered the side of Mac & Cheese ($10) which was, although more edible, also disappointing - the sauce and cheese was a weird gritty texture and it just wasn't really good, especially for the price point. We finished off with a dessert sampler, which was very nice and a good variety of flavors. This included cheesecake, tiramisu, and chocolate cake. We enjoyed the extensive wine list and a solid list of local craft beers throughout the evening. Bond 45 is a decent option for dinner in the National Harbor area. I feel you are definitely paying more for the location and the atmosphere, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. Some of the food was delicious, and some was extremely disappointing. The shrimp and calamari was so good but since it was delivered it was soft because they didn't vent the box. I can't wait to go dine in! The fries weren't my favorite... Loved our experience at Bond 45 tonight! We were able to be sat immediately for inside dining (30 minute wait to be sat outside since it was beautiful outside) at 7:30 pm on a Friday night. Our table was couch seating on one side and regular chairs on the opposite side. We were sat right by the window in the front room and had a beautiful view of the Ferris wheel. My husband ordered a watermelon mule and loved it so much, he ordered two. I ordered the Bianca sangria, which was a yummy white wine sangria but, it was a little sweet for my preference. I switched to the incredibly strong Hennessy Harvest cocktail. This drinks are a little pricey, but their strength was worth it. My mom ordered garlic bread for the table that came out within 2 minutes. Her main entree was the Diver Scallops which sat atop of a mushroom risotto. Her meal was the favorite of the table. My meal was the carbonara and I was a big fan. It was very creamy and we even used the garlic bread to mop up the leftover sauce on my plate. My husband ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and his only complaint of the meal was that the Alfredo tasted more buttery than creamy. He still cleaned up his whole plate though. Definitely go with the potatoes - worth getting as a side. The housemade pillowy soft Gnocchi smothered in sweet tomato sauce and topped with a heap of warm burrata was divine. Gnocchi was cooked perfectly - it's one of the most difficult pastas to master cooking (I've given up at home!). The Peach Bellini was fine, but I prefer the refreshing Indian Summer with Vodka, St. Germain, Lychee puree, and cranberry juice. Eight years ago when I first came to Bond 45, I was very impressed. I ordered steak that night. I wasn't as impressed this time. The decor is nice, and it's a beautiful place. The staff is super friendly. The location is great. The food is good, but not amazing. We got the calamari appetizer, shrimp and grits, crabcakes, broccolini and chocolate cake. The calamari comes with shrimp. The shrimp and grits was flavorful with the bacon bits and lots of cheese, but it was wet. Too wet. The crabcakes also came with shrimp and were served over a bed of peppers and squashes. Interesting. Again, good, but not amazing. The broccolini was heavy on the garlic (as it should be). Good, but a little limp. The chocolate cake was yummy! A solid choice for most, but probably wouldn't be my go-to spot when in the area. read more

While visiting D.C., we decided to take a ride on the Capital Wheel. Afterwards, we needed some relaxation and good food. After perusing some restaurants in the area, we decided on Bond 45. Upon entry, we were greeted and brought to our table by the restaurant manager, Cottrell. We were unsure of where we should sit, but he brought us to a great table with a view of the harbor, which was awesome. Upon being seated, we were greeted by Dimitri, who was new to the restaurant staff, but not the restaurant industry. He was absolutely amazing, the type of person that makes you feel like you've been friends forever. Under the tutelage of Rosio, a server there for 3 years, we had a fabulous dining experience. We started with the mussels in white wine sauce and continued to dinner. The mussels and sauce were exceptionally tasty and plentiful. For our main courses, my wife had the chicken Alfredo, my son had the house specialty chicken parmigiana, and myself chicken piccata. All three meals were cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. When dining out, delicious food is always the goal, but when you combine it with truly personal service, the experience becomes part of your memories. Service was super attentive. I enjoyed the wings and the calamari/shimp apps too. My steak was perfectly cooked...but $64? Nah. A tomahawk should be a substantial portion. This felt way undersized. The bone was normal though for a tomahawk. The "24 oz" promoted is pre-cook weight and includes the bone weight, which unless you have a T-Rex as a pet or plan on boiling it for bone soup - really doesn't matter. It's really MAYBE a 12 or 14 oz ribeye with what matters. Another tourist trap kinda vibe courtesy of what National Harbor mostly caters to. 5 for the service/ambiance/views and 3 for the food. Total = overall 4. I liked it. And it was okay. Luckily the boss was paying cuz I sure as hell wasn't. Great place to meet a group for drinks. Stopped by Bond 45 on a Friday night to celebrate my cousin's engagement. The staff were polite, and we were shown to our tables quickly. Because of the size of the party they placed us in once of their private rooms. A little on the small side, but nice enough. It was, however, freezing. It was quite cold outside and the insulation was not up to the task. The space heaters they brought in after the bride to be mentioned how cold everyone was a couple times did not do much to remedy the situation. Eventually parts of our party were moved inside to different tables. They had a very specific way of doing things and so we had to put food orders in first and then drink orders instead of doing both at the same time. The service was also pretty slow. About an hour and 20 minutes between when we ordered and when we got our food. When the food finally arrived, I had the rigatoni bolognese which was very good! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good. The side of Brussels sprouts I ordered didn't arrive with the pasta. It arrived an additional 20 minutes later. The drink I ordered, the whiskey peach smash, was excellent. Well mixed. Idk y'all. I want to rate them higher but the experience was rough. Maybe get their food to go? It is tasty. TL; DR: Food was good. Service was really slow. Got the food at weird times. They were accommodating of our large party though, and gave us some celebratory Prosecco so points for that. Filet Minion was excellent as were all sides. Waiter was excellent... very personable, professional, etc. The hostesses were also A++ perfectly blending friendliness, professionalism, but sticking to the rules. I had called trying to make a reservation, and the hostess firmly but politely said they did not take reservations, but assured me we would not wait more than 10 min if we arrived soon. True to her word, we (table of 4) arrived shortly thereafter, and she remembered our conversation and had us seated promptly. I also noticed an outside table in which the diners had brought 2 small (5 lbs?) dogs. I was not bothered by this at all, but the hostess noticed that I noticed and proactively acknowledged by simply smiling and explaining they were assured by the diners that they were emotional support animals. Dog friendly environment noted! Subtracting one star because a) this is a really expensive place - it was $399 for 4 people and b) one of the entrees (lasagna) was late arrival though the waiter apologized profusely and offered free dessert and round of drinks on the house to make up for it. I have very mixed feelings on this restaurant. We started at the bar for Happy Hour and it took them 10 minutes before anyone asked us what we wanted. Not sure where the bartender was, but I think it was an assistant manager who finally popped up to take our order. We ordered the meatballs based on the great reviews. They are $7 at HH and surprisingly it took them another 15 minutes to bring those out....we had already finished our drinks. These meatballs were actually great, but there were only 2 of them and we were 3 people. They really should have asked if we wanted to add a 3rd for an additional charge. It just seemed bizarre. We move to a table for our dinner where we were celebrating a birthday. No mention was ever made of it, not that we were looking for anything free but it would have been nice if our server had at least acknowledged the special occasion. (also we had booked through open table and noted the occasion there as well). As for the good, the Caesar salad was very authentic with lots of garlic and anchovies so that was a definite hit. Of the three main entrees we ordered the steak was the star of the show. In hindsight we were wishing we had all ordered a steak. We actually dined family style so were all able to taste a good amount of each dish. While my sister enjoyed the chicken marsala, I thought it was far too sweet. The shrimp and crab cake dinner was just ok....we had been doing a lot of Maryland crab cake tasting over the last week so felt somewhat versed in what a good crab cake should taste like, and this one slightly missed the mark.
