This is my first review ever. Came here on 9/28 with my girlfriend for Omakase. Started with west coast oysters - they were bad. Fish was tough, and not tasty. The food is really good. The warm mushroom salad (even though it's under the cold apps) is so good. The tempura is cooked perfectly. All the rolls are super delicious. The service is average. Basically what you expect in a trendy, soho establishment. It is pricy however. So if you're willing to spend the money for good food, this place is perfect for you. read more

Don't let the decor fool you, the consumables by no means mirrors the hefty price tag spent on the ambiance of this establishment. I heard high praise from my fellow restaurant conglomerates with respects to Bond Street Restaurant. For starters, the notable comparison to one Nobu was more than enough to at least acknowledge the existence of one such establishment. It was by little interest or suggestive integrity that led to my paying a visitation to this establishment, it was more on the merits that if there exists a Nobu substitute in New York (where I can actually get reservations), it should be, at the very least, tried... Upon first entry into the sultry establishment, all patrons will undoubtedly be engulfed by the atmosphere. First observations would lead patrons to conclude that this restaurant mirrors that of a posh lounge rather than that of it's marketed business identity. Still, despite its lavish lighting, comfortable Italian leather seating, and feng shui table settings, the ambiance actually aides in relaxing a dinner for their consumption session. The food... The Ricotta Crab Cake: We found this dessert to be rather average. The crab content as well as flavor were overwhelmed by the Ricotta. One thing that's note worthy for mentioning, the Ricotta's taste resembled cream cheese, which made me wonder if Ricotta was actually the cheese used in this application. The exterior shell of the Crab Cake also labeled this starting dish with much disdain. The petite nature of this dish was overwhelmed by the difficult exterior. Patrons will find that getting through the outer layer of this appetizer will yield a minimal application within the content core. Salmon Avocado & Yellowtail Roll: Not particularly fresh and nothing note worthy. The rolls were similar in nature to ones that can be obtained at any mid end sushi establishment. The texture of the Salmon was rough (indicating aging) and the taste of the Yellowtail was absent. It was also evident that the abundance of Wasabi used in this application was to hide the quality of the fish used. Unfortunately, the quality was easily detected. Chilean Sea Bass in Miso Reduction: Deplorable to say the least! The most disheartening part of this dish is although the 1/2 inch exterior of the Sea Bass had plentiful flavoring, the inner parts of the fish failed to absorb the Miso and thus tasted bland in nature. Chilean Sea Bass is known for it's abundance of fat, unfortunately, this platter tasted rough and coarse, which is a direct reflection of the food quality. Sadly, the dish was not finished as the contrast between the boasting exterior flavors and the dull inner content laid shame to such an executed dish! As we requested the check, one thing finally caught to mind, where are all the other patrons!?!?! Perhaps the absence if individuals partaking in this establishment is an indicator of what their dishes reflect, absence... Despite many of my conglomerates comparison of this establishment to Nobu, Bond Street Restaurant fails to mirror any aspect of it's highly acclaimed competitor (except for the menu)... Sadly... I would not recommend this restaurant to of my fellow sushi buffs. read more

I visited New York for work, and my friend made us a reservation at BondSt. I'm actually heading to Japan soon, so ahead of that trip, I wanted some Japanese cuisine for practice. (Yes, we're talking about practice, man!) We were seated in their dining room but quickly asked if we could be re-seated at the back sushi bar for a more authentic experience (like I said, we're talking about practice!). The dining room tables felt a bit too crammed together, and the lighting was a little dim. The sushi bar, on the other hand, was very well set up: comfortable, well lit, and quite stylish. We went with the full course omakase, which was my first time enjoying such fare. Being n00bs (needing more practice), we misinterpreted and assumed that the "full course" omakase was primarily sushi/sashimi based. Instead, it was based on the main "full course" dishes from the menu. It did include 6 pieces of nigiri prepared live in front of us at the sushi bar. There was a separate, less expensive, sushi/sashimi omakase on the menu, which we had overlooked. Each one of the full courses (I believe 9 overall) were delicious. The most memorable dish for me was the Big Eye Tuna Tarts, which was an interesting mini crispy tuna pizza with truffle oil. Beyond the food, the staff was extremely friendly. Note that if you are here for a late dinner you may witness the sushi chefs taking shots with diners. It's dark, it's great for dates or sushi obsessed foodies. One of the best restaurants I have been to. Although it is expensive, the food is worth the price. I ate at the lounge downstairs which gets very packed on the weekends. It's a great place for a date or a small group of friends (5 max) but it does get very loud. For food, you have to get the big eye tuna tarts. You can taste the truffle on top and it is amazing! I would also recommend ordering the crispy tuna rice, the salmon trio, and the scallop jalapeno roll. We also ordered the snow crab roll which was also very good and wasn't overly battered. For drinks, we had the lychee martini and the Yamamomo Framboise--both amazing. For dessert, you have to get the bread pudding which has a whisky toffee sauce. Also good is the green tea mille crepe. I've tried the lychee pana cotta and the bondst donuts which were good but not for me. Honestly everything is good here and you can't go wrong with what you order. read more

Delicious Japanese sushi restaurant in NoHo. You might miss it but the locals know where to go after hours. Everything we ordered was spot on, including the extensive drinks menu. When arriving to Bond St., it seemed a little confusing getting in, but that's what makes the location hip. The ambience of the restaurant is dark and quite loud, however, the food and the company make up for the low-light atmosphere. Our service waiters and host were all attentive and refilled our waters and cleared our empty plates timely. Food (fish) arrived according to temperature so there was no complaints on our end. I enjoyed Bond St.'s appetizers and sushi. Their entrees are great and filling too that I could not attempt to go for desserts which maybe my second go-to just to try. What also made my experience pleasant was the delicious shiso cucumber cocktail drink and their creme rosette cocktail! Very tasty and not overwhelming, which is a no-no for a lightweight. Customer service was quick and easy. I would definitely come back again. Probably great to bring friends or a date. read more

You know exactly what you're getting when you come here and don't even lie about it. Definitely try to get a big booth style table with a large party, it's always a great time giving the superior cocktails (order the Kamikaze, it's a fun off the menu item that will put you to bed). There definitely will be a lot of 20 and 21st birthdays being held here, but there's also a decent mix of 30-40 year olds and sugar baby dates. The tuna tartare truffle eye is always a must - you can even taste it when dry heaving from the morning after a night out. I also recommend going to the lounge downstairs if you're ever interested in a pregame. Just ordered like 7 lychee martinis and a bowl of rice, and you'll be well primed for the night. My girlfriend and I frequently dine at Bondst all the time, and have always enjoyed their incredible service and amazing sushi! Though, our most recent visit here was not what we've come to expect from Bondst...at all! We ordered the 6 Bond Nigiri sampler dish, something we've tried and loved multiple times, but this time things were a little fishy. After finishing about half of it, we decided to stop. It smelled a little funky honestly, though it was cold. All we know is that after dining here last Friday evening, we spent the rest of Friday night and Saturday vomiting! Overall, we were very surprised to see this major slip in freshness! We hold Bondst to a very high standard and we've never had any problems till now. I wish I could give them more stars, but food poisoning is a HUGE turn off. We'll definitely have to 2nd guess dining here in the future because of what happened! read more

Comes with aioli sauce that complements the fish well. Favorite dish of the night, unfortunately, the only dish that I enjoyed. Mehs: -Jalepeno and Scallop Roll: I didn't get to taste the jalepeno. Just felt like your average roll with bits of scallop. Really disappointing. -Fatty Tuna Scallion Roll: Didn't feel like the tuna was 'fatty' at all! Just tasted like your regular tuna scallion roll, but it's worth $16 or so. Not worth the high price tag. Lounge has a very intimate ambiance, but was extremely loud and I had to yell to Dinosaur to get his attention while he chumps away on the Big Eye Tuna Tart. A warm and trendy Japanese restaurant located in Noho. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly hostess at the door. The restaurant had a great ambience with a minimalistic decor. The service was fantastic, we were greeted by our waiter within a minute of seating and drink orders were taken right away. For appetizers, we ordered the red snapper tacos, yellowtail sashimi, spicy crispy shrimp, crispy tuna sushi and big eye tuna tarts. I definitely recommend the big eye tuna tarts as an appetizer. It was my favorite out of all five. The thin layer of tuna held up by a light crunchy tart, smothered with a light layer of creamy ponzu and truffle oil...so exquisitely good. Every bite was delicate and just simply delicious! For entrees, we had the steak, toban yaki, and a variety of special rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. The steak and toban yaki were just mediocre. I recommend saving your stomach space and opt for their nigiri and sashimi instead. I wasn't too crazy about their special rolls. I found it rather bland and boring even with the accompanying sauces. The sashimi and uni sushi however was super fresh and tasty. As for desserts, they were out of the green tea mille crepe. Therefore, we opted for the mochi ice-cream, apple tarte, and lychee panna cotta. You honestly can't go wrong with ordering any of the desserts here. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience. This is hands down the best sushi I have ever had in my life. I am not famous or cool enough to be paid to be saying this by the way. Better than Nobu. I came with a friend last night and sat at the chef's counter. Loved that we were able to see everything as it was being made by the incredibly talented sushi chefs there. We got the tuna tart & crispy rice to start, then I got a spicy tuna roll and my friend had the scallop roll. To finish we had the green tea crepe. Would not change up the order as everything was immaculate. Expensive, but totally worth it. Give it a go! read more

Fancy and a pricey spot for omakase or a la Cart sushi spot. Perfect for date night! My friend and I made a reservation here at 7:30pm on a Saturday for their a la cart. We ordered a few appetizer to start. toro with schezuan oil was probably my favorite appetizer. It's fresh, topped with schezuan peppers and gold flakes. Not too spicy but the schezuan was noticeable. We ordered chicken dumplings wrapped in tofu (great option if you are going for low carb) and also we ordered the story eggplant. Chef gave us a sample of their salmon and tofu which was really nice and our entree we shared a spicy salmon roll and eel roll. Service was great and we love watching the chef make our sushi. I went here for dinner with a group of friends. They have some seating and a bar on the 1st floor and additional seating on the second floor. Food: Food was simply amazing. Everyone in table loved the tuna tarts. I had the sun-dried tomato and avocado roll which was just too good to be true. The crispy potato roll was also pretty amazing. The crispy cauliflower one of their specials could have been better. It was coated with some kind of flour and that took away the original cauliflower taste. Service: So here is why I have given this place only 3 stars. My drink was horrible! They are quite famous for their cocktails. So I went ahead and ordered the shishito jalapeno margarita but without the agave (or any sugar). The server made a really weird face when I asked him to just skip the sugar from the cocktail. I am not asking you to add anything extra just asking you to not add the sugar. But he gave me weird looks and suggested I order the simple margarita. I had to repeat myself and again explain what I really wanted. After 15 mins of wait I got a glass with tequila, lemon and ice and one dangling shishito pepper. They didn't even bother slicing open the pepper to give the cocktail some flavor. Additionally, be ready to wait for your drinks and food once ordered. Ours didn't come for at least 30 mins. I've had my eye on BondSt for a while and I'm glad I tried it out! Large space with elegant decor and excellent presentation. Great place for a date. We got the 10 piece omakase and I really liked the salmon, octopus, uni on crab, and a piece that came wrapped inside the leaf. The others were okay and not memorable. We also got the green tea soba noodles. This was good but also not spectacular. The true highlight of the meal was the Chilean sea bass! I was really glad that we got it. It was actually quite a large piece and extremely flaky, soft, buttery and delicious. The sauce that came on the side was slightly sweet and delightful. BondSt is one of the Top sushi spots in NYC. I have been going to Bond for over 15 years and the food is always on point. You have to start you meal with edamame and shoshito peppers. Then you must order the house salad with the shredded phyllo dough with extra dressing on the side. For the appetizer round you have to order the tuna crispy rice, red snapper tacos, and the big eye tuna tarts. The Big Eye Tuna tarts are amazing!!!!!! You may need to order 2 they are that good. best food experience.. Reviewing on the restaurant week menu.. Appetizer: Both me and my friend got the salad.. The salad is really fresh and is really different than a ordinary salad.. Never get the chance to try the miso soup.. :( Entree: I got the Sea Bass and my friend got the steak.. I will recommend the sea bass. It tasted more "japanese" to me.. :p the steak was good too. We also tried both sashimi and rolls, they are all equally good and fresh.. :) Every item in the bento plate is SOOOO GOOD!!!! My top rating will be the shrimp and the fried tofu.. the dumpling is a little different and I really like it too.. :) Dessert: I got the coconut tiramisu and my friend got the chocolate meltdown!!!! We came here for restaurant week, and to get to the restaurant we had to go upstairs and were led to an elevator by this hot, tall, model-type guy with a sexy foreign accent. We were seated promptly once we got off the elevator. Inside was dark, modern and sophisticated with a lively vibe. We ordered off the restaurant week menu and I had the miso broiled sea bass and sashimi in my bento. We started with miso soup, which was good and standard. My miso sea bass was tender with a subtle miso flavor, fantastic! My sashimi was fresh and the salmon was phenomenal -- melted like butter. The spicy crispy shrimp was also good. The age dashi and yuba dumpling were disappointing. They tasted like they've been sitting around for too long. The fried tofu no longer had any crispiness on the outside. The desserts, ricotta cup and coconut tiramisu, were satisfying. At this point we were full and content, we paid and gave a nice tip, but then I had to use the bathroom... One word of warning and I hope they've done something about it. The women's bathroom was disgusting. It was somewhat dark in there but I could see that half the floor was wet with something and pieces of toilet paper were on the toilet seat as well as the floor. The other customers who went in before me all made comments as well. I've encountered public bathrooms like this before such as in Penn Station or an occasional McD's in the city, but never in a trendy sit down restaurant. read more

I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and absolutely loved the spot! While we waited at the bar, I was craving a spicy drink so I ordered the shishito margarita. I asked him to make it stiffer and spicier for me. Our bartender (GOD I wish I remembered his name) flat out told me no, then proceeded to make me some bartender's choice special drink that was spicier and delicious. He kept those coming for me throughout our entire dinner - props to him. The tuna tarts were fantastic, would highly recommend them. We did the 10 pc omakase which was a steal. Great fresh sushi and dimmed and romantic decor. Located up a flight a stairs, BonbSt offers Japanese cuisine both cooked and raw. I like their squid ink pasta in particular, not because I'm a fan of squid in pasta, but because their version is topped with fresh uni. Delicious and creamy the blend is great in taste and texture. The claims are fresh and filled with juicy sea salty goodness. The salmon sashimi is smooth and melts in your mouth without even chewing. read more

Loved BondSt everytime I've been, and I've been there quite a bit. The service is always great, somehow they all know what you need and when you need it. I've sat at the lounge, which was a great area for a relaxed atmosphere. The main floor was bustling as well, though I really enjoyed the back sushi bar room. The upper floor was a bit calmer but nonetheless, everything was amazing. Food-wise, everything is pretty much amazing. From the sushi, to the cooked food. A must order is the Tuna Crispy Rice, I crave it once I leave. The Tuna Eye Tarts are also another fan favorite that a lot of people also mention. The noodle soups were very good also. Anything you pick, you'll be content and satisfied. Looking forward to going again. read more

This place is amazing, if you know better than to order a couple of spicy tuna rolls. Sit at the sushi bar and get your omakase on - just dont forget to buy the chefs a couple of rounds. Favorites: tuna "pizza" with truffle oil (even better with shaved truffles on top), raw lobster or king crab topped with creamy uni, otoro sushi, wagyu beef, raw oysters topped with cucumber jelly, the list kind of keeps going on. I could eat their freshly ground wasabi by itself. The cocktails are all very good too - give them a try. The St Germain in Tokyo as well as the peach iced tea (have them make it alcoholic) are my own favorites. What I have to say is much in line with all the other reviews. The restaurant is easy to miss because it has no sign outside. It's a remodelled white building that looks more like a residence. When you walk inside everything is beautiful. The decor is clean and modern and most of the staff look like they're actors or models (all Caucasian). They're very gracious and not pretentious at all. We were seated on the second floor which you take an elevator up to. They honored our reservation (6:30 Tuesday night) with no wait at all. Pretty much, it's a great looking place, attentive service and romantic atmosphere. You get a hot towel to wipe your hands and complimentary edamame to start with. Down to the food - if you're looking for quality, it's here. Quantity - not at all. I tried the restaurant week menu which came with the soup (or salad) the spicy shrimp with chipotle on a bed of frissee ONE chicken dumpling, 1 slice of a root vegetable, 1 leaf of Shanghai BokChoy, 1 slice Lotus Root, 1 piece daikon, 3 ounce piece of Chilean Sea Bass (about the size of the inside of the palm of my hand) and half portions of Salmon Avocado Roll and Spice Tuna roll (3 pieces of each). I've attached a picture of it. To be honest, the price was not worth what you got. I'm sure if you ordered off the regular menu you'll get more of a sizeable portion. Consider your plate a tasting plate to give you an idea of the capabilities of Bond St and you can decide from there if you'd like to come back and spend what you would have to to dine there. The reason I gave a positive three stars is the fact that they advertised online that they had a Wine Flight, but when we arrived they only offered Sake. But the waiter was willing to accommodate us by replacing the sake with their three wines (Riesling, Chardonnay, & Pinot Grigio) for $16. You got three full glasses of wine for the price of two. Not bad. So overall - selecting the RW menu and having one wine flight - tax and tip came to to $64 each. We tipped well because the service is truly amazing. I did leave slightly hungry so I hopped over to Walgreens to grab a bag of popcorn to eat on the train. I suspect that if you choose their regular menu you may expect to pay about the same but end up with more portions. read more

While I have frequented Bond Street's dimly lit basement lounge, my most recent trip brought me up the stairs of this beautiful East Village townhouse. I was shocked by the beautiful decor, stark white furnishings, and bustling hip crowd. The hostess led us through this sea of coolness to the massive sushi bar in the back room. We sat and watched as extremely skilled sushi chefs cooked up a variety of creative rolls. Before our meal, we received free edaname, which is so rare and so appreciated! The menu blew me away, making it very hard to settle on something. My friend and I decided to share a few rolls. The Spicy Tuna with chili mayo was one of the best versions I have ever had of this roll. The Sesame Crusted Shrimp Roll was plated next to dipable blobs of orange curry dressing. The Salmon Avocado Roll was also tasty, but not as unusual as the rest. My ultimate favorite was the Hot Eel Dice Roll, which consisted of warm eel in savory soy sauce and topped with almond slices. MMM, MMM, MMM...I cannot wait to go back! read more

Ok, place is hooked up with nice atmosphere but is it really? It feels like it is taking so much advantage as they set the light really dark. If you look at there interior closely, they got nothing much special. Romantic? Yeah could be- simply its dark! In terms of food, it is very much disappointing. Being one of the few places you can get fugu (blowfish) in the US, I had to make a stop at Bond Street on a recent trip to NYC. The place is trendy and had lots of creative dishes passing through the dining room. As usual dishes are rated 1 - 10, 10 being amazing. $14 Cocktail (5) decent drinks, nothing special. $10 Tuna, Blue Cheese (9) Sounds crazy, but I loved it. They take chunks of tuna and marinate it in a blue cheese sauce for three days. $18 Fugu (3) I was expecting that tingling novacaine initiation into the Fugu club, but it just tasted like a regular piece of sushi. $48 Tessa ( Fugu Sashimi) (2) Well, I'll just spend another $48 to get a whole plate of this stuff. But, it was just as boring, what a rip off. I think you need to get this stuff fresh in Japan to get the tingle. Had an incredible anniversary meal here. Their indoor dining setup is perfect - cozy and warm while still giving each table plenty of space. Service was great and friendly, and the food was SO good as always. They even brought over a lovely dessert sample to end the meal. The food here is good but definitely just not worth the prices, as expected in NYC. It is also food I wouldn't necessarily crave, as although it is of very high quality, it's not Japanese food that really hits the spot. There is a decent amount of vegetarian option but not much stood out to me. Some dishes I had to start with were the mixed greens salads (nothing unique, would not recommend), mushrooms salad (I've had better, also would not recommend although the assortment and freshness of mushrooms was great). I also had the grilled avocado which was outstanding, and very unique. This would be the only dish I would come back for. For entrees, I had the arugula and carrot sushi which was alright (very difficult to eat), the sundried tomato and avocado sushi (kind of weird) and vegetable nigiri which was ok. What really stood out to me was the desserts - the molten lava cake was the best I've ever had, perfectly paired with espresso ice cream. The Fuji Apple tartin also amazing. Neither were too sweet and perfectly hit the spot. However, they were so expensive for the portions. I feel like there are better places with more value for money in NYC. read more

Trendy and well decorated restaurant, but not overbearing/over the top. Generally has very fresh/good sushi, though it doesnt come cheap - For dinner I tried out the salmon ceviche, cold cha soba noodles, spicy tuna and lobster tempura roll - all of which I would recommend. And for dessert? Lychee panna cotta ... which was great, especially because panna cotta is my fav. read more
