One of the better chains in town. If I want to take friends out and we don't feel like traveling out of our way, we'll go to Bonefish. The main reasons why I like it here are because of the positive staff encounters, quick service, and solid food. I have never had an issue with a hostess or server. All servers are very knowledgeable. While the wait to be seated might be long, food does not take long to come out. I've never been to Bonefish Grill until I attended the Yelp Elite event. I thought of the restaurant of a great place, but it does give me the same vibes as the chain restaurants like Olive Garden. The Yelp event was great. I was able to taste test the appetizer/ bar bites, alcoholic drinks, entrees and dessert. Literally had an 8 course taste testing experience. Lemme start with my favorite courses: the Crispy Cod Sliders, Prince Edward Island Mussels, and the Bang bang shrimp. I do have to say that everything that they served was good, these were my favs. When you see the picture, you can see how huge the sliders are. So the sliders and mussels are part of the bar bites, which cost about $6. The bang bang shrimp is one of their signature dishes. You've probably tasted it similar to other restaurants, but compared to the other dishes this wasn't seasoned so heavily. The other dishes were the Waygu Beef sliders(I have to say were juicy AF), crispy Au Gratin bites (similar taste to cheesy chicken cordon bleu minus the chicken), dynamite salmon (good but too much seasoning on the salmon and the gnocchi wasn't cooked to a soft butter consistency) and Caribbean Scallops (good but too much mixture of flavors with the Caribbean spices, mango salsa, buttery string beans and jasmine rice with parsley.) I really didn't like the calamari mainly because the breading was too much and lost the calamari in it. The drinks were great! They have a mixture of red and white wines, and very tropical cocktails. The staff was super helpful. I did have a WTF moment when one of the waitress had to ask for my ID for a Yelp Event that was only for 21+ like can a woman be excited to say yes to a cool looking cocktail. Tha family came here for the first time because we received a coupon in the mail for buy one get one free entree. We went a little after 4 pm on a Sunday and we're quickly seated. We noticed right away staff were carrying around and sipping beverges. They had a table near us by the bar with drinks smattered all over it as well as a bit of food. A coat hanger was nearby and several removed their server shirts and changed ( with undershirts beneath them) into regular clothes. So off putting and unprofessional. They chatted and touched their hair and faces between bringing people what they ordered. Ummm, as a customer that is disgusting. There should be a staff area away from customera, I do not want to see them changing before or after shifts. On to the food, hubby ordered a tilapia of some sort that he said was fine, children ordered off the kids menu and I got chicken. They happily made a change to my order, but forgot the sauce the dish came with. I was expecting more food for the price and it more flavor. We will not be back. The staff was very welcoming and quickly got a table ready for me even though my party and I were a little early. The food is great and always tastes amazing. I personally have been here 2 times within two weeks, and had a wonderful experience both times. The restaurant is clean and I appreciate that the employees keep their masks on even though the law has been lifted. This is one of my favorite restaurant in East Brunswick even though it is a chain. I have gone here many times and have always been pleased with the service and quality of food. The wait time can be extremely long so go on off-peak hours or try for reservations(I believe they must be 2 hours ahead) The bread served is warm and comes with a nice dipping sauce. Their mixed drinks are very good and they give you a good portion and are strong. Apps are my favorite and the bang bang shrimp is to die for. Good for a chain & I'm not a big chain food type of a guy. Trendy modern feel with a sizeable full bar with multiple taps flowing. The emphasis is obviously on fish hence the name. There isn't tremendous seafood options, it's a fish joint. Although the menu isn't all to exotic the fillets I've experienced have been fresh and quite good but not exceptional. Came here last minute for dinner last night &, as always, I had a pleasant experience. I love the chill vibe about this place. It's not too bright or loud or dark. There's lounge seats outside & reg tables/bars in the inside. It's a good place for dinner with friends, family, or a date. If you're a fan of seafood like me, this is definitely a solid place to check out. I've tried many different things at bonefish, and I can't really think of one thing that wasn't delicious. For appetizers, I would HIGHLY recommend the ceviche. Normally, I don't like this dish at all and I've tried it a couple times in the past before. It's usually too sour or too fishy for me, but this place made it just right. It's one of the lighter options for an appetizer and it was refreshing. And like everyone else here has mentioned, you can't leave this place without trying the bangbang shrimp. It's creamy fried shrimp & has a lot of mayo on it. Delicious. There are so many delicious dinner entrees to choose from here. If you're feeling seafood, I would say go with the ahi tuna steak dinner. It's not too heavy & has a good kick from the pepper. I've been here on a number of occasions, and it's always been great, but my visit here on Valentine's Day blew me away. We didn't make a reservation, so naturally when we got there the place was slammed. 2 hour wait. My boyfriend (whose birthday it was that day) and I were actually hoping to eat at the bar, but that was slammed too, because of the long wait. The hostess came over and told us that the high-top tables were first come-first serve seating, and we lucked out and found 2 seats right by the kitchen. Our server was a girl named Maggie, and she couldn't have been more fabulous. She was extremely friendly and attentive, and stopped by to check on us several times throughout the night even though the restaurant was bursting at the seams with customers. My boyfriend and I both wanted lobster, but we didn't want to get a tail for each of us because then we'd be too full to eat our other food, so she told us we could order one and split it. We did, and it was excellent. He got the bass, and I got the stuffed wolf fish, our regular orders there, and as always the food was excellent. During dinner, managers were walking around with gift cards for a free appetizer - we went to another Bonefish Grill last year for Valentine's Day, and they did the same thing, so I think it must be a franchise or company initiative, and it's a great idea. When the check came, I had three $20 gift cards that I wanted to use on the check, with the rest going on my credit card, and Maggie didn't blink an eye - so many servers would have been annoyed at that, especially on such a busy night, but she couldn't have been more gracious. I tipped her well, because she was the best server we'd ever had and she deserved it, and the manager came over to chat with us and let us know that they appreciated our business. We had an excellent time, and the staff really hit it out of the park for us. read more

Update: I have spoken to the representative at Bonefish Grill whom had personally reached out to me concerning the issues i had with this establishment. The representative showed so much passion about the quality of food that Bonefish Grill puts out that it convinced me to try this restaurant again. I will keep you updated on my next trip to Bonefish Grill. I must say that it is rare and very much appreciated that a restaurant cares about its customer's view so much that they have a representative reach out to address the issues the customer has. I went to Bonefish with come colleagues of mine for dinner after work. We were promptly seated as soon as we walked in the door. Our waitress greeted us and quickly took our orders. The restaurant is nice on the inside and give a warm welcome. Soon thereafter our meals came out but unfortunately the food was just ok. I was not blown away about the qualify of the food and to be very honest I was somewhat disappointed. I am not saying that this place is a bad restaurant at all. I am just saying that with my particular preference I did not like the food. Overall i would rate the restaurant as follows: the atmosphere was a 3.5 stars, the service was 4 stars and I thought the food was a 1.5-2 stars. Last night was my first experience eating at bonefish. I never had the urge to go there prior despite knowing about the restaurant. I've heard from other people that the wait can be long so I decided to call the place and see if they have call ahead seating. Unfortunately they didn't, they only have reservations and must be 2 hrs in advance. My fiancé and I decided to give it a try. Upon arrival there was probably 5 or so couples waiting for a table. We put our name in and the wait was 45mins. During our time waiting a bunch more people came in pretty much crowding the waiting area to the point where we were packed in there like sardines. If I had a suggestion the customer demand has outgrown the physical establishment size. The hostesses did a good job by offering bang bang shrimp appetizers to all of us people waiting. The wait was about an hour which is more than we would have liked but dealt with it. Our server was extremely friendly, almost too nice where it didn't seem genuine. Regardless he did a great job attending to us despite the busy night. The meal starts off with some awesome bread and seasoned oil dip. I ordered a steak and lobster meal and my fiance had two lobsters. The food was cooked to perfection the sides dishes were awesome the garlic mash potatoes rule and spaghetti squash surprised me. The only down fall was the meals were a little expensive but generally that's what is expected when eating at a seafood specialty restaurant. I would eat here again just maybe not at prime time on the weekend. read more

L-O-V-E this place. I've only been here a couple of times, and I leave happier each time. I'll expand more on the atmosphere, food and service. Atmosphere It is wonderful. There is a seating area outside, with couches and a table. It's perfect during the summer, but not so much during the colder months. There is a waiter there, offering us free samples of the Bang Bang Shrimp as well as their drinks while we wait. Inside, it is a bit dim, but they have a bar, and nice booths and tables for the family. We have always gotten placed in a booth, but I always go with my family and we have 5 people. The booths are extremely comfortable by the way. It isn't too loud in the restaurant, but everyone was talking and having fun. Food Food is just amazing here. If you're not a seafood lover, you don't belong here. I've gotten fish here every time, and it always comes out fresh, well-cooked and well-seasoned. Portions look a bit small, but they are filling. I have difficulty finishing my plate at times. I've had the salmon and the bass here, and I recommend both. For appetizers, the Bang Bang Shrimp is delicious- so juicy! I usually don't get dessert here, but I did get Cream Brulee once. It was good, but not the best (this is probably because I've had Cream Brulee in France, and you really can't beat that). Service Service is very quick and delightful. Each time I went, they were quick to introduce themselves, take our drink orders and bring out bread. They were pretty generous with the bread too. We only expected to be served bread once, but they gave us bread three times! I think they can sense we were very hungry. Very friendly overall. read more

Favorites are both tacos (bang bang shrimp or blackened fish), mahi mahi, crab cakes, fish and chips, delicious caesar salad. And everyone is so nice. The staff here was great! They were helpful, attentive, accommodating, and really nice, which was very much appreciated. My cousins and I were a party of 11 women. We were seated immediately even though we were waiting for the entire party to arrive. When their wonderful bread, butter and olive oil w/pesto was put on the table I was already impressed. Then I ordered a Pineapple Martini, all I can say is WOW! For starters one of my cousins and I shared the Bang Bang Shrimp (crispy Shrimp, tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce on a bed of lettuce). There were so many shrimp and they were so good, we ended up sharing with everyone at the table. They were such a hit that once they went around that table, another portion was ordered. For my meal I ordered the Fontina Pork Chop (boneless pork chop, fontina cheese, garlic, prosciutto, mushroom marsala wine sauce) with garlic mashed potatoes and the steamed broccoli. It was definitely not the best Pork chop I've ever had. I should have ordered fish, which most of the party did...it is the Bonefish Grill. Duh! My bad, maybe next time, I don't know what I was thinking. For dessert I had the Crème Brûlée which had a carmelized sugar crust, served with berries and fresh whipped cream. It was an excellent choice but I couldn't finish it because it was so big and I was pretty full at that point. Oh man bonefish why did you mess with a good thing. Changed the menu and took off a lot of favorites. Our server last night was excellent but he food was subpar to say the least. Please reconsider the menu changes. Or try localizing them. This bonefish is normally packed on a sat night regardless if the weather is nice or not at 7:30 but it was dead. One guest at the bar. 2 couples at the community tables and the restaurant was barely full. That should say something. We won't be back anytime soon. read more

I went here for lunch on Saturday (05/09) with my boyfriend and his mom. Our server, Ray, was extremely friendly and paid special attention to my boyfriend's mom's dietary needs when taking our orders. For starters, we split a loaf of freshly baked crusty bread served with extra virgin olive oil...and I have to say, this blows Red Lobster's cheddar biscuits out of the water. It took all of my self-control not to eat more than one piece. It was hard for me to decide on what I wanted, since I love virtually all types of seafood, but I eventually settled on the Wood-Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Lime Tomato Garlic sauce (highly recommended by Ray) with a side order of steamed broccoli, sugar snap peas, and the Tomato Avocado Panzanella Salad. The highlight of the meal for me was the salad: fresh arugula, chopped tomatoes and avocado, and two generous slices of toasted ciabatta bread, all lightly drizzled with olive oil. The bread was seasoned with red pepper and paprika, I think, and all the flavors played off each other perfectly: the arugula was fresh and crisp, and the avocado had a delicious, mild taste. Spicy + tangy + sweet = win. Bonefish Grill may be a chain restaurant, but they offer a nice option for patrons few chains display on their menus: you can specify how you want your fish to be cooked. I asked for my salmon to be served medium, and it came out just the way I ordered: soft, buttery smooth, and the lime tomato garlic sauce helped mask the fishiness. I also liked my steamed broccoli, which was steamed just right. The sugar snap peas were also good, if a tad over-seasoned. Unfortunately, I was too full for dessert, but I very much enjoyed my meal at Bonefish Grill and would love to come again at some point in the near future. read more

Let me start out by first saying that I have had many good experiences with Bonefish at other locations (for dinner). This latest visit was my first time there for brunch. We went for my cousins birthday and had about 10 people in our party. We had reservations and were seated promptly by a very nice hostess. My girlfriend and I were not the first people in our party to get there so some of the other guests had already placed their drink orders etc. It took us about 10 minutes to get our drink orders placed and get started, a little long but no big deal. We ordered the endless bubbles (all you can drink mimosa's or other drinks like that, $19.99 if you get one of the other brunch menu items). Endless wasn't really the word to use here because we weren't able to get a refill any quicker then every 35 minutes or so which really wasn't great considering they were in champagne flutes (naturally). We ordered our food (after being seated for about 30 minutes) and went about the occasion. It took about 55 minutes to get our entrees to the table. Everyone's orders were correct however all of the eggs Benedict orders on the table were served cold. One person ordered the Cesar salad which was the size of a small side salad and while all this was going on... our glasses were to remain empty. I had the Creme brûlée French toast (which was absolutely excellent) and would have been even better with a drink to wash it down. The restaurant was at about 35% capacity (mind you it was brunch and only about 1130/12) so I am not sure while everything was taking so long. The servers were very polite and friendly however so it might have been the bar and kitchen that was being slow. All in all it wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't anything over the top that I would go out of my way again to experience. The prices were fair and the food overall as a whole wasn't bad so if you are looking to do something on a rainy Sunday morning this might be worth checking out, just don't set your hopes too high for something out of this world. read more

We went to Bonefish Grill for the first time yesterday, after passing by it for years. I read good review on Yelp and I looked at their menu online, which seemed very good. We showed up around 6:30 on a Wednesday evening. They have $5 cocktails and $5 Bang Bang Shrimp on Wednesdays. There were about 8 people waiting for tables in front of us. We checked in at the front desk and were told the wait was about 30-35 minutes. My wife and I decided to have a couple of drinks at the bar to kill some time. I had the Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is 24 Oz, and very good. My wife had the Espresso Martini, and that was also very good. We were surprised when the buzzer indicated our table was ready in about 10 minutes. The bartenders were very good and friendly. They were coming out with one drink better looking than the previous one. 5 stars for the bartenders. We were seated by the hostess and a waitress promptly stopped by and explained the specials as it was our first time there. In fact, I had already decided what I was going to have for appetizer and dinner even before I went to the restaurant :-) 5 stars for service. We had the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer ($5 on Wednesdays) as it was a no brainer, price-wise and reviews-wise. It was really awesome. You do get a lot of shrimp for $5. I think it is regularly priced at $9 something; I am on the fence getting this appetizer at full price. My wife had the shrimp and scallop dinner with Asian sauce. I had the New Zealand Dory which was grilled on a wood fire with lemon butter sauce. They were both awesome tasting. 5 stars for food taste and quality. My only "beef" with the fish is you don't get a lot of it. For about $20 an entree, I would expect a little more than I got. I am okay with the price, not ok with the quantity. 3.5 stars for food quantity :-), but hey, that is me. You might be ok with the quantity, but this restaurant is worth checking out. read more

This use to be our spot, the wife loved it, kids always happy to go, so it was always an easy choice. Probably went 8-10 times a year for a few years. And not just the brand but this specific location. But we just moved and went back after 6 months. The staff has changed, looks like new manager and what can I say, it's not special anymore. Service was good, but I think we got lucky, most of the wait staff didn't seem to want to give you the time of day....but I am paying right!!!! Food, was nothing more the franchise like!!!!! Bonefish Grill is a well known establishment that has many different location around New Jersey. This particular Bonefish is apparently the smallest store in the entire chain (per our waitress). My friend and I came here for a late night dinner. The restaurant closes at 10:30, and we ended up arriving there around 9:30. We were treated well and not rushed to leave the restaurant. Of course, we started off with the Bang Bang Shrimp. This is hands down the best appetizer available on the menu. I think they've changed the presentation of this dish since it now arrives on a plate with lettuce as the bedding and the shrimp piled on top. I recall that the shrimp used to be served in a bowl. The sauce was zesty and not overwhelming and the chefs tossed the shrimps with just the right amount. The complimentary bread was served fresh from the oven with a blend of olive oil and herbs. It was warm and I really enjoyed that even late into the night, the restaurant still offered us freshly baked goods. I ordered the grouper with the chimichurri sauce (delicious!) and my friend ordered the filet with the crab cake. The grouper was delicious and fresh - perfectly flaky. The chimichurri sauce was great as well. The pieces were a little coarser than normal, but I really enjoyed that texture on top of the flaky fish. My friend's steak was perfectly medium rare. The crab cake was almost entirely crab with a bit of breading in it. You definitely get a good amount of seafood with each dish. This is definitely a good Bonefish location to check out! read more

I've been to a number of Bonefish Grill's across the country and have always been pleased - however it's been a while since I've been and I've never been in NJ. I could not make a reservation 1.5 hours in advance - needed to be 2 or more hours. Thought this was odd, but ok. They did not offer that the restaurant was not full that evening and I it would be fine - I had to ask. Oh well. Cocktails were perfect. App - Asian Calamari was very disappointing. Not even chewy rubber bands describes it. It was just crunch. Way overcooked. It was like salty ocean granola. :( My guest's Chilean Sea Bass was just poor quality or old getting to the cook. The asparagus was fat, and stringy - you'd figure paying for this meal you'd get thin, delicate, and snappy asparagus. The fries were good. My meal was pretty nice. Hard to mess up string beans and broccoli - they were cooked perfectly. Too much butter was used, but decent veggies. The Wahoo was flavorful and cooked right. It was server with crab meat over the top which actually came out cold. Odd - but tasty. Not what I'd expect for this level of money. Oh well. This was a Tuesday evening at 6p-7pm. I love this restaurant. This is a nice restaurant. I know it's called Bonefish, but that doesn't mean that don't know how to make a good steak! I judge a restaurant mainly on how they cook a medium-rare steak. Rarely do I go to a restaurant and love or think highly of their steak. They make a good steak. It was near perfect temperature, great color, and tasted good! Now I have had the lobster tails and they were good too! Crab cakes were very tasty that I had to get seconds. They start you off with bread, olive oil and green stuff that's delicious. Now I generally don't like to fill up or eat a lot of bread. But it's so good. They have a large selection of wines and drinks. Different Entrees for whatever you are in the mood for. Like I said I am a steak enthusiast, so I usually order the fillet or surf and turf meal. And for dessert. They have cheese cake, tiramisu and other goodies. This is the second Bonefish Grill i've been to, this time for my birthday dinner, which kind of goes to show how highly I think of this surprisingly good chain restaurant. As at the Iselin location, there was no wait, and upon sitting down I again ordered the pomegranate martini, a drink that all the waiters and waitresses rave about, and with good reason. As for food, I split Cajun Chicken Egg Roll and had the appetizer portion of calamari (yes, again). The egg roll was gigantic and delicious; spicy already inside, it was served with a creamy sauce that cooled it down considerably. The calamari, again served with both marinara sauce and Thai hot sweet sauce (seriously, what a great idea), was still fresh and crispy, though not as good as at the Iselin location. The portion was also much smaller, which disappointed me insofar as it meant less things to dip into the Thai sauce. As to this specific location, I liked it much better than the Iselin location. Our waitress was incredibly upbeat, polite, and professional, almost to the point where I thought I had stumbled into a more upscale seafood restaurant by mistake. She was attentive without being overly so, and I only wish I could remember her name to recommend her to anyone thinking of going here. The atmosphere of the place was also an improvement: still filled with ambient lighting, the interior was nevertheless brighter and nowhere near as noisy as the Iselin location, probably because the main dining area was much more open, with higher ceilings. Overall, the food here isn't as good as at the Iselin location (thought it is still delicious), but this location offers a much more relaxing environment. Bathroom Grade: 9/10. Decent place if you are look for an upscale dining feel. Not much a lot of food options though. The bang bang shrimps are good remind me of the dynamite shrimps from PF Changs. All in all a decent place, i would visit again but definitely not my first choice read more
