Had dinner with friends at Bonefish Grill in Gaithersburg. We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp like probably 95% of the people who dine there, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We also ordered some refreshing pineapple drinks to start the evening. For our main dishes, we had the salmon salad, steak and lobster, and fish and chips. All of the dishes were good and nicely prepared. The only downside was that the food came out a little slow, and we had to ask a few times for water refills. Other than that, everything else was enjoyable. Overall, good food and a fun dinner with friends we'll definitely be back for the Bang Bang Shrimp. Free parking is available but be prepared to get a few steps in before and after dinner since the parking spaces are shared with other nearby businesses and it can get busy. read more

Martini Monday is a vibe! I've seen it advertised on social media and otherplatforms, so I decided to check it out for myself. Can't beat $5 martinis!! Their happy hour aka "Social Hour" has decent specials! I sat at the bar which wasn't super packed at first, but that quickly changed. The only bartender seemed a bit dismissive, maybe he was overwhelmed, or maybe it was because I wasn't a regular. I saw him engaging with other patrons and I did not receive the same treatment from him. Either way, everyone should be treated fairly. You never know what kind of day one is having! He eventually came over, dropped the menus and walked away. I wasn't even offered any water or anything! I was eventually able to order a blueberry lemon drop and the banging chicken bites. I liked my drink and the bites were tasty - a nice snack. Finally more help came by way of Adrianna! She was amazing and literally saved the day. My experience was so much better with her. She actually introduced herself and provided excellent service. She checked on everyone at the bar! Kudos to her! I rnded up ordering another drink, a pomegranate martini, which I really liked. My partner and I stopped in for dinner tonight. Reserved on Open Table and wrote in that it was a special occasion. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted at the host desk and congratulated on our occasion. Kudos to the restaurant for reading the Open Table comments! We were seated and a server came by with bread and olive oil and we decided on the Special for 2 - four types of fish (shrimp, salmon, ahi tuna and mahi mahi), each with its own sauce. The Special comes with salad/soup and 2 Premium Sides. Trying to limit fat/salt (new diets, oh well), we ordered the sauces on the side and the salad dressing on the side. Huge salad. Delicious and fresh, and the dressing that I used a little of was tangy and delicious. The entree was very good too. The sauces came on the side, as requested, The fish was so well prepared and flavorful that we agreed they were each very good without sauce. I did taste the sauces, though, and my favorite was the bourbon glaze - tangy and spicy. I was a bit disappointed with the service. Although the food came timely, our water glasses were left empty a couple of times during the meal. And the server didn't make a fuss about our special occasion (my partner had received a special honor in the community earlier today, and we came out to celebrate), and frankly the server didn't make a mention of it at any time during or after the meal. What made this particularly disappointing was that a group at the next table was celebrating a birthday and their server brought them a treat and helped them in singing happy birthday. Gee whiz . , . I made a point to bring it to the restaurant's attention, another table got a fuss over their occasion, and we just got the check for ours. That's very disappointing. My wife had fish and chips and was very disappointing because of the very thick and stodgy batter around the fish, also I had blacken fish tacos and it was tasteless. It pains me to write this review as Bonefish has long been a favorite of ours and the staff is so friendly. We went for lunch today and everything was just wrong. First, the table wasn't clean. I had to sweep away a lot of crumbs just to sit down. Water was brought out quickly but something was floating in my ice. We had to wait a pretty long time to place our order and then when it came out there were errors and one dish had to be remade. I appreciated the server's non-defensive attitude and apology. Unfortunately, the food quality just wasn't up to the usual standards after everything. I really don't think we'll be back after today as we've noticed a downward trend. read more

I recently visited Bonefish Grill and decided to try their $14.90 special for three items that was being promoted. I selected my choices directly from the special's list, assuming the deal would automatically apply. However, when the check arrived, the waiter said I needed to tell him in advance that I wanted the special price -- even though I had clearly chosen the correct items. This felt misleading and disappointing. If a customer orders items from the special menu, it should be obvious they're expecting the special price. Instead, I was charged full price with no mention of this "requirement" beforehand. The food itself was good, but the experience left a bad taste because of the lack of transparency. A simple clarification or better communication from the server could have made all the difference. Suggestion: Please train staff to confirm when a customer is ordering from a special menu and ensure prices are honored fairly. read more

A little bit of a back story. Normally, some of my friends & family in Va. Beach will head to a local Bonefish Grill the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve for happy hour (well, "social hour") bites and sips. Since I could not make it to Va. Beach for this holiday, I randomly checked to see if there was a Bonefish Grill near our current location. Lo and behold, there is about 30 min (by car) from Silver Spring. After learning this, our preThanksgiving happy hour plans were set. I'll say that Bonefish Grill really stays on point with their branding because the this location is set up in the exact same manner as the one in Va. Beach even down to the location of the restrooms. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at this Bonefish Grill. For bites, we went with plates of mussels, calamari, Bang Bang Shrimp (of course), and risotto. Everything was absolutely delicious. While everything hit the spot, the grand prize has to go to the fried calamari because the dish was full of flavor. I think they actually season the batter and/or breading, which goes a long way in my opinion. Also, the butter wine sauce for the mussels was so amazing and really enhanced the seafood delights. They service was pretty good. Although our bartender was not super chatty, he was a very nice gentleman and made sure that we were well taken care of. I thought the prices was more of less on par with what I expected based on my experiences at the Va. Beach location. If I do not make it to Va. Beach for future Thanksgivings or Christmases, I hope to drop by this Bonefish Grill for some fun bites and sips. read more

We had lunch here on Sunday. We stated with the bang bang shrimp - fried and crispy with a nice sauce. My family all had the grilled sea bass with chinichurri on the side (single protein with sauce in fine print on the menu) which is a staple when we come here. It is consistently delicious! I tried the pan seared blackened tuna. It was delicious! The fish was rare and cooked perfectly and the hot mustard sauce was delicious with a little kick. The service was great. The host and servers were so nice and some of the trainees were really cute. Skip the calamari - you mostly taste the batter. It's not terrible but very skipable. The sauce was okay but doesn't pair well with calamari. I do give them points for not just doing cocktail sauce. I recommend the bistro cut chimichurri. It was exactly what I needed as a carnivore. The asparagus was worth the premium side and the fries were good. We did 3 course meal (recommend). The Caesar salad was solid. The SAUCY SHRIMP CAVATAPPI PASTA was very good. The olives, roasted tomatoes and shrimp were such a great combination with the pasta and sauce. I felt like Remy from Ratatouille with the combination of flavors and how they came together. This event was one of a kind. Bonefish had their 25th yr anniversary Anchored in Flavor event. The event included a 5 course meal with each course paired with a cocktail. The cost of the event was only $60. The event lasted about 3 hours but with great company it seemed like time was flying by. The food was delicious. They selected their fan favorites to serve which was awesome. And the drinks were amazing. Each paired nicely with the course. The ambiance was great per usual. Aesthetically pleasing of course. Since we came before 6:30 PM on a weeknight, I ordered my main meal from the Happy Hour menu. I got the calamari with peppers and sweet, spicy Asian sauce. The Mussels Josephine was a smaller portion than the main dinner menu but perfect size for me. It contained tomatoes, red onion, garlic, basil, and lemon wine sauce. It was really great, however, there was not much of a "soup" later. And the last dish I ordered was the "Crowd Pleaser" to share with my dining companion. It definitely had something for everyone. There was Bang Bang Shrimp, Tempura Crunch Sashimi Tuna, and Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts. My companion ordered the Fish n Chips along with the Garlic Whipped Potatoes as another side. Food was excellent all around. Service was fantastic thought a bit slow for a weeknight. There did seem to be enough staff for a weeknight. Plenty of free parking. We were there at about 1 pm on a Wednesday so it was pretty sparse in there. We were greeted by Gregory who seated us and was our waiter. He has a great personality and he added to the enjoyment of our meal. The service and drinks were great. We had the bang-bang shrimp and it was great- better than the imitations that you will find. They had some kind of shareable trio with steak, crab cakes and lobster tails. It was so good! We didn't want to leave. The music was eclectic mix of jazz, pop and funk and it worked for me. I chose it for different reasons - I had been there before and was pleased with the food - and today I chose it for its lunch special and great parking . Ever since the repeated demise of Red Lobster I haven't found a good replacement for family seafood meals, until Bonefish Grill came along! Red Lobster growing up in a poor immigrant household was a rare treat - something meant for straight A's on the report card, a birthday, or perhaps new year celebration (LNY, of course). After having grown in both body and wallet, Red Lobster became the defacto location for family meals as a form of nostalgia. The food there was never as great as it was in my childhood, as I found the menu a bit heavy and unrefined. well, Bonefish Grill changes that up - it hits many of the same good notes that Red Lobster hit for me, but with a more modernized, tastier menu. My immigrant mother, who complains about 99% of restaurants in the US (too expensive, too unhealthy, too heavy, too salty, not-tasty, etc) gave Bonefish Grill a glowing review, and that alone is testament to quality for value that Bonefish delivers. read more

Soup bowl looks like a cup and had mostly raw crunchy potato chunks in it with corn & red pepper flakes. BB shrimp breading was mostly pepper (you can easily see it) & could not disguise the poor quality of the shrimp not to mention the browning lettuce hunk on top. I haven't been to a Bonefish Grill in a while but I realized that they now have an everyday happy hour so I had to check it out! Our server Lansana was immaculate. This is hands down the best service I have ever received at any restaurant. He was super attentive and very communicative about the progress of our order. The drinks were delayed because the bar was busy and he was very transparent. The food was also pretty good! We had the crowd pleaser which was $15 and came with bang bang shrimp, ahi tuna and king pao brussel sprouts. We also got an order of the calamari which didn't look that tasty but ended up being delicious. We also had the bourbon sour and the margarita and both were also excellent. This is my first time eating in here. I have had their bang bang shrimp Togo years ago but my mother wanted to take me here for my birthday lunch in. Lansana was our server and he gave us top notch service. This was a table for six and everything came out on time and he always came to the table to check on us. I like how the place had booths and tables but we sat in the section with the combo setup. Half booth half tables and I liked that better than the booth for a larger table. The only thing I didn't like about the table is the sheet of paper? Not sure what the purpose of that was for. It was kind of annoying (haha) Their steak was good, could have been seasoned better, their crab cake was ok. There's better. Their bang bang shrimp is honestly the best thing there. I had the Mahi Mahi and I like how you can get the sauce on the side and flavor your fish how you prefer. The rainbow trout is really good!! Dessert was nice too! I liked the brownie the best!! Overall, a 3 1/2. Service was good. The Rockefeller butterfish had spinach and lump crab on top. I had mashed potatoes and jasmine rice with it. This dish was just ok. Maybe it my pairing of sides. The Kung pao Brussel sprouts were the best. The corn chowder and lump crab soup was my least favorite. I usually like this in other Bone Fish location. But this one wasn't that great and was not as thick as a chowder should be. The carrot lava cake had cream cheese in the middle with whipped cream on top. This was good. My family has eaten here many times and have always had good experiences. This particular review is for carry-out as my family is not ready to "dine-in" or even outside anywhere just yet. We have been hopeful that experiences lately would still be good from some of our usual haunts. Fortunately we were not disappointed :) We did one of the family means which was a great value! We got the Lilly's Chicken (grilled chicken with spinach, artichoke hearts, goat cheese, and lemon butter sauce). The spinach is kinda overpowered by the garlic chunks (we were told it would just be garlic oil, but that wasn't the case) but it is a really tasty dish. Each element compliments the others. The family meal is made to serve 4/5 people and comes with bread, salad, cookies, and a side item. The mashed potatoes are also /very/ garlic heavy which is an issue for some of my family member's allergies, but the rest of us were able to enjoy them. Generous portions for 4 people easily, just needs more bread ;) They don't have some of the items we would usually order right now, like potatoes au gratin (which doesn't have the same garlic issue the mashed potatoes do) or their coconut shrimp. But a lot of places have had to alter their menus this year, so we understand. We did curbside pick-up and to call it "prompt" would almost not be accurate enough haha There are 3 or 4 spots right in-front of the restaurant with signs reserving the spaces for curbside carryout. I parked and went to pull up my email to check for instructions and before I could load the email someone was at my window with my bag right at the estimated time! So in short, slightly more limited menu, but the family meals are really a great deal/value and their curbside service is super swift! read more
