We were 3 friends having dinner here. With our reservation, we were seated immediately. It's very pretty in here with exotic flowers sitting on a table nearby. We didn't have drinks this particular evening but the dinners we ordered were excellent. What I have noticed over the years is that the fish menu options have increased and now I truly believe this is a fish restaurant. I never had red fish before and it was wonderful. They also offered grouper, shellfish, cod, snapper, flounder, salmon and others. We were all very pleased and I'm sure it will be less time between frequency on our parts. read more

Took my parents here for their first time and they loved it! We ordered a ton of food which we finished for the most part. I ended up taking most of my entree home as we ordered so much appetizer, I was already full when the entree came. We started off with a few bar bites: calamari, Alaskan cod sliders, and wagyu beef sliders. Both of the calamari and Alaskan cod sliders were made to perfection. Crispy and the calamari dipping sauce was the best. We all right the wagyu beef sliders was a bit too greasy. Next we ordered a bang bang shrimp as this specialty dish we just had to have our parents try. They both loved this one the best. The spicy sauce really made it stand out. We also ordered the crab cakes, delicately made with lumps of crab to its entirety. Definitely fresh crab meat and not out of the can! Finally, onto the entrees, we ordered the Alaskan cod fish and chips, the sirloin steak with garlic mash potatoes and spinach, and the blackened baja fish tacos with mango salsa with a side of spinach. The Alaskan cod fish and chips were a bit hit. Can't go wrong with this! The sirloin steak wad very tough and chewy. My mom had ordered it medium rare but I think it was a bit too rare. After taking the rest home and reheating it in the microwave, it came out much better. Definitely order a medium if you go with the sirloin. The fish tacos were just ok. Banging shrimp app always tasty ! Shrimp tacos with mango slaw is my favorite to order. Large Chilean sea bass with a side of mango topping was sooooo good and also tried a lemon butter sauce also. Very poor service last night at Bonefish in Manalapan. Waiting time for drink and dinner was unacceptable. Had to ask multiple times for iced tea to be brought to table, then waited over an hour for our meal, with server not bringing our salads until after the meal. On top of that, she said they only had one dressing - for a restaurant, really? If she would have taken some responsibility I would not likely write this review but GenZ servers need to have an understanding of customer service if people are paying for a SERVICE. My wife, and I were extremely pleased with the our recent experience at Bonefish grill I Manalapen. We showed up with a party of 6 and they were able to seat us fairly quickly for a busy Saturday night. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive, and was able to accommodate all your requests with no problems. I also cant say enough about the food. Bonefish Grill is my favourite restaurant around New Jersey. Their standout items are their red sangrias, bang bang shrimp, and their wagyu beef potstickers in my opinion. Everything from appetizers to entrees are always hot and fresh when served, and is always cooked to perfection. They value their customers and are always willing to make things better. I always get their shrimp pad Thai, but they went a little heavy-handed on the sauce once. They made sure to take it back and have their chef correct it and were so incredibly kind. Yukon potatoes were the best part of the dish --crunchy on the outside, moist and fluffy on the inside. We only got 4 little ones though. Snow peas were wayyy too greasy. Lobster tail was mediocre; it was almost overcooked, so the texture was a little too tough. The flavor was decent; it went well with the melted butter. I wish it was juicy. Strawberry shortcake. The shortcake was not great, but still edible. They get points for providing plenty of fresh strawberries. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very quick to service us but he forgot one of our orders and some requested lemon slices. But when we reminded him, he recovered by bringing our orders shortly after. I still think service was great because our food came out fast. We told him we were planning on watching a movie later and he gladly stated that he would speed up dinner for us. The atlantic salmon was very fresh and the mango salsa was good as well. The sides were alright which I expected. The potatoes au gratin was more like velveta macaroni and cheese except it was potatoes with a few soggy breadcrumbs, i would suggest a different side. The spinach was bland... This place was ridiculous. The hostesses at check in were rude. They told us 50 minutes for the two of us. But I watched as 4 other parties were seated before us but come in after us. I guess it's "who you know" at this location. After finally being seated the waitress took our order but didn't come back once. (She was too busy running around cleaning other tables so more people could be seated at her tables) typically the manager comes over and says "hello" and "how was everything" not in this location! The server came back just to drop the check. The only good thing about our visit was the food, it came out hot and it was delicious. The coffee was served lukewarm. While looking at the menu, the Island Bowl popped out at me from the lunch menu. Every possible texture & flavor is in this dish. The rice noodles have a slight bite to them, a little bit more than al dente. For added crunch, there are Chinese egg noodles that offer a texture difference while shredded carrots & diced mango not only brighten the dish but give it a sweet flavor. Another level of sweetness with a tiny kick is the sweet, spicy chili sauce. The seared sesame tuna gives this dish the salted yet toasty element from the sesame seed crust. The only thing I would say doesn't belong in this dish are the mixed greens. I find myself picking around them to get to the other delicious elements of the dish. read more

Wow! What happened to this place? The local Bonefish went down hill fast. We returned for the first time since COVID last nite. My wife pointed out that there was something off on every item brought to the table. Cocktails served with flat carbonated beverage, food not served hot, fish overcooked, crab cakes were a ball of mush. The lemon butter sauce tasted "fake". I do have to say that service was good, we were put off when we complained about the flat cocktail, our server James, said, "I could bring you another, but it's coming from the same tap so it's going to me flat too". While I appreciate his honesty, there is something going on behind the scenes that had our waiter "step out of character". What I noticed that there was no managers circling the restaurant asking if everything was to our expectations. I usually get the mule and a random appetizers like the Bang Bang Shrimp or the Mussels Josephine. The mule is quite refreshing, but sometimes it get a little sweet for my taste few times. College-age kids who work there until they start their real lives, not career wait staff. Small corporate menu. Portion sizes calculated to the fraction of an ounce. Obnoxious music playing too loudly, but not loudly enough to drown out the screaming and coughing little children who are numerous. People streaming back and forth past the table. Not an enjoyable dining experience. You could have a table outside and look out on the scenic parking lot, breathe the aroma of exhausts and enjoy the sound of commuter buses and trucks on beautiful Route 9. Get the picture? I couldn't wait to finish and leave, which didn't take too long, considering the portion size. I had a soft-shell crab. I didn't know it was legal to keep ones that small. If not for the crabcake stuffing, there would have been no meat on it at all. The mediocre sauce on the side would hardly have filled a thimble. When I have soft-shell crab at good seafood restaurants they give 2 or even 3 for a portion, if they are that small. I have eaten at 3 other BFG's, but somehow this one really turned me off. I'm still hoping to get a good seafood restaurant in this area some day. BFG isn't it. Update 1/8/17: I went for takeout, since I got a gift card. (I would never spend my own money in this place.) Got their fried Alaskan cod fish and chips. When you peel away the big mass of greasy batter, there is a skinny little strip of fish inside, which might indeed be cod. If they labelled it honestly, it would be "fried dough with a bit of some kind of fish in it." It was supposed to come with malt vinegar, but there was lemon and some tartar sauce instead. It has been a few years since I've been to Bonefish and I found the selections here rather disappointing. for a place that is called "Bonefish Grill" you would think the menu would lean a little more to the seafood side. Not the case. There is a section where you can order various types of fish that are wood grilled and you select a sauce from the choices on the menu. Truthfully, I wasn't crazy about any of the sauces so I tried to play it safe with mango salsa on the side. I had the grouper and with or without the sauce, I wasn't thrilled with it. It came with some chick pea side which had a strange taste and the steamed vegetables were just not happening!! My son had the same thing with the pan asian sauce and basically felt the same about it. My wife had the tilapia which was much better than what we had, but still nothing you would go running back to have. They do give you warm bread and oil for dipping which was pretty good. The dessert was a macadamia nut brownie with ice cream . Not bad. I mean how the hell can you screw up a brownie and ice cream???
