Let me start by say I am a big bonefish fan. However, my visit here was nothing short of a huge disappointment! Will start by saying I had reservations for 6 for my wife's birthday. When we arrived, we were told a few minutes which turned out to be close to 45 mins. Once seated, our server just didn't want to be bothered with us. That was evident the whole night! Half the tables food came out. The other half didn't receive there's for another 20 minutes. All but one dish was actually good. Sweetie found some sort of discount coupon on line for BG. It was local and so were we and I'd never been and wanted seafood -- so we went. Commoditizing seafood is a dicey proposition for me. I mean, its not like unbranded gasoline for your car -- even though at some cellular level -- eating seafood means energy. I don't expect a Michelin star experience every time I eat out -- and sometimes chow down is just fine -- but I do need more than just survival dining. Like Crocodile Dundee said about foraging in the wild -- "well you can live on it, but it tastes like s&it." I did not expect survival dining at Bonefish Grill -- but got it anyway. BG is a commoditized seafood experience, similar to its related chains, Outback, Carrabba's and others (all owned by Bloomin' Brands -- a publicly traded company with 1500 stores worldwide). This casual dining concept gets you fed, and if you choose wisely, fed reasonably well and easy on your pocketbook. But you must moderate your expectations -- and suffer through vigorous up selling and exaggeration during your meal that you get from a young and eager service staff. Yesterday's meal was disappointing despite the pleasant ambiance and staff. Strong gin martini's helped us laugh it off. Not sure I would try this location again. I won't belabor the food errors, but raw sea bass (see pic) 'aint cool, and neither is gummy shrimp, chewy ceviche, and scallops drowned in funky mayonnaise. Just about everything was soaked with butter and salt -- the classic coverup for old and/or poorly executed seafood. The manager was all sorts of apologetic about my raw sea bass and cut our bill in half and bought me a gratis martini and sea bass dinner to boot (cooked perfectly this time) -- which accounts for the 2 stars. It's been has been awhile since I've been there. So happy hubby and I went. We were shopping at MACY'S in Paramus Park. It was 8 o'clock we were hungry but did not want to go to the food court. I have been meaning to check this place out for awhile. It's hidden behind the paramus park mall and in the hotel area. The restaurant was pretty busy. Service here is excellent! We got the famous bang bang shrimp. It was fantastic! Shrimp was battered and fried and then coated with spicy mayo type of sauce with some cabbage underneath. It was one of the best spicy mayo shrimps I've ever had. It's a must-try. We also got the crusted cod and mahi mahi fish. They were excellent as well. I liked that the fish wasn't too strongly seasoned and wasn't salty at all and brought out the natural flavors out of them. Also, the sides we got were pretty big portioned as well. They all went really well with the drinks. They offer 50% off on the 4th visit including their sister restaurants like Fleming's, outback, and carrabba's. I like them all. Came in for an anniversary dinner on New Years Day and it was overall a great experience! We were seated quickly on a Friday night and it was a holiday too. So very glad for that since we were really hungry. Server was able to quickly bring over bread which was warm, soft on the inside crunchy on the outside. When ordering when I mentioned my allergy my server was able to tell me exactly what dishes have what types of onions and answer all my questions. We ordered the lobster stuffed shrimp special, bang bang shrimp, and rainbow trout topped with mango salsa and with garlic whipped potatoes and French green beans on the side. We mentioned we were splitting everything and when everything came out, the main entree was already split into two portions for us. Mango salsa was even separated well so allergy could be taken care of. That was greatly appreciated! Lobster stuffed shrimp was full of flavor, served right on the skillet. Very creamy but not too much and it complemented the other dishes we ordered. The bang bang shrimp lives up to the hype! It's creamy and there's a kick to it that isn't too bad spicy level-wise. My boyfriend loves it and usually he doesn't eat anything spicy. Good and must try on the menu! For the rainbow trout with sides, Bonefish's promise for fresh fish is tasted in the fish. You can taste how fresh it is! The mango salsa was light and perfect since we had some creamier items on the menu for appetizers. I ate at the Paramus location last night... we were a party of 11 celebrating a B Day. There were 2 servers handling our table, but it truly didn't feel like it. Our bread plates were left on the table almost the entire night, not once did they come around to refill our water. I ordered the Rainbow Trout with rice and sautéed spinach... I thought the fish was tasty, but hardly enough to satisfy my hunger, the rice looked liked it had been scooped out of a big rice cooker and just slammed on the plate and the spinach I didn't even finish and I love spinach. I'm always extra sensitive about how many refills of water I get and how often I'm asked if I at least want a refill. Bonefish is great! First of all, the service was amazing. Our waiter was very attentive. To start, my boyfriend got the coral reef punch, which he said was very good. The bread with oil and butter was also very good. For appetizers, we got the crab cakes and calamari. Both were delicious. For main course, I got the filet mignon with Mac and cheese and au grautin potatoes. The meat was a little undercooked, but still good. The Mac and cheese and potatoes were great. My mom got the tuna with the jasmine rice and brussel sprouts. She thought the brussel sprouts were amazing! The rest of her meal was good as well. My boyfriend got the mahi mahi special with lobster and broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. He thought the portion was a bit small, but enjoyed his meal. We tried Bonefish Grill before and were not impressed, but we decided to give it a try again in August for a family birthday party. Our DoorDash driver waited 2 hours for the meal to be handed to him. My guests filled up on appetizers and were unable to eat the meals when they finally arrived after 8:00 PM. The food was ok, nothing special. We tried again a few days ago with only 2 meals at a cost of $117. The meals are overpriced for the portion sizes and quality. Add in the additional fees and it's just not worth it. Meal #1 - Ahi Tuna Sashimi appetizer, Filet Mignon and Crab Cake entree, coleslaw and spinach sides. The Tuna Sashimi was overcooked. It looked like canned tuna and sliced so thin it was like a piece of wilted lettuce. The 6 oz Filet that was actually 3.5 oz and after removing the huge membrane, I was left with a total of 3 very tough bites. The crabcake appeared to have been cut in half and was actually as small as an appetizer. The coleslaw was flavorless with barely a hint of mayo. I dressed the coleslaw myself. The "sauteed" spinach must have just hovered over a frying pan on it's way to my order, never actually touching the pan as it was raw and flavorless. I sauteed and seasoned it myself. Meal #2 - Mussels appetizer, Shrimp and Scallops entree, in lemon butter, Fries and Steamed Asparagus sides. Shrimp and Scallops were just ok, overcooked lacking seasoning. Steamed Asparagus had no flavor at all and was too hard to eat. Again I had to cook and season myself. Sounds like a lot of food, right? In addition to the food prices, they charge a Delivery and Service Fee at 13% of the food cost, and then there is the driver tip which was actually the only legitimate cost in my opinion. The bottom line, you get small portions and overpriced mediocre food. I would not recommend Bonefish Grill in Paramus, NJ. I wish I had taken pictures. read more

This used to be my go-to restaraunt for a nice meal where I am treating my parents for dinner. We LOVE Bonefish because we LOVE their bang bang shrimp appetizers and entree. My parents and I went here for dinner on Easter as a thank you gift for everything my parents had helped me this year. To start, we arrived at 4:10 for our 4:15 reservation - we sat immediately (YAY great). After 20 minutes of perusing the menu, deciding what we want, we did not even have water yet, no one even came over to introduce themselves to us or anything for that matter - really odd. So I went up to the hostess and she was shocked and immediately spoke to a our waiter and he finally came over. Finally when we were greeted with water and bread, we were able to order because we reviewed for so long. We ordered an appetizer to start and each ordered our entree. Ten minutes later, our entrees came out. Our waiter forgot about our appetizer. Our waiter tried to take back our food and get an appetizer for us but at this point we were starving and just took our entrees. Then I got the bill and the receipt holder was sticky and greasy. Not a fun feeling to feel when paying for a meal you hated. We were big fans of Bonefish when it came to our area, this was a huge let down. We left this night and said we will not be returning. In early July my wife and I went to this Bonefish Grill and had a bit of a sub-par experience. I wrote to the manager and he replied quickly with a telephone call. He apologized and sent two gift cards for our next visit. I was happily surprised and decided we would visit when we are back in the vicinity. We felt a little bad about that since we were going to use the gift cards you so generously gave us for our last visit. Shortly after that the manager on duty that night, a lovely woman who remembered us from our last visit, came over to apologize about the incident. As they were a point of contention on our last visit (when the broccoli ran out) I wish I had tried them last time! So everything was really top-notch this time. We knew we would not have room for the Key lime cake and we asked to have it for later. All I can say is that it did not last long at home. Key lime pie is everywhere, but the cake version is really good - and a nice size portion too! So thank you again for the gift cards. Lovely place for dinner on a Friday night. Great intimate ambience and I liked that our table could have a conversation over dinner without shouting. The service was exceptional. Our server was very helpful, disappearing to check where one of the beers were brewed when casually asked by our party. We couldn't even stop her in time, she was just that fast. I had the talapia with mango salsa, french-style green beans and spinach with garlic. The fish was very good and not too oily, while the mango salsa give it a nice acidic tang. Good food, but nothing extraordinary. This restaurant is great if you have a birthday or a quiet date night. The establishment definitely has an older demographic. A white cloth table cover is usually an indicator that a restaurant is on the high-end side, but the presentation of the food is anything but. The plating of the food is what you would get from any other franchise restaurant out there, so I would suggest they hire someone that is knowledgeable with food plating. On a positive note, the waiter was very nice and recommended a few of their favorite menu items. To conclude this review, Bonefish Grill is just another ordinary franchise. I had the pasta with shrimps and scallops scampi special. The food came almost cold , it was spicy and too salty. that wasn't a scampi sauce and clearly not a fresh made sauce. My daughter ordered the fillet mignon with shrimp. She sent it back because the meat tasted " funny".
