Mashed potatoes, Cesar salad, polenta fries, fried yucca
    Heidi S.

We visit Ogunquit a few times each year and had heard good things about Bonissoni. Our meal here was ok, but if you have been to other Brazilian Steakhouses, you might feel the same way we did - it was fine, but not really a standout. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server explained that we could choose sides off of the menu, and that they recommend 2-3 sides. We chose polenta fries, yucca flour with bacon, mashed potatoes, and Cesar Salad. The salad and mashed potatoes were very good, the yucca flour never arrived - lukewarm yucca fries arrived instead, and the polenta fries were cold and not very crisp. It took awhile for the meat servers to come to us, but we enjoyed the breads while waiting. As is typical in Brazilian restaurants, the meats are the star of the show. We enjoyed ribeye, sirloin, garlic steak, and my favorite was the beef rib. My husband also liked the salmon, and we passed on the pork and bacon wrapped chicken although they both looked good. I felt that even with the red/green table card system, the meat service took too long, and we often had to signal to get the servers' attention even though our cards were turned to green. The same was true for refills of sides and water. It was very late in the meal before additional sides were offered, even though our side dishes were empty for quite awhile, and my husband's empty water glass was never refilled. We were at Bonissoni for about 1.5 hours and hadn't yet been offered the grilled pineapple that other people mentioned. I thought that maybe it wasn't part of the menu any more, but when we asked for our check, our server asked if we had tried the pineapple, and when we expressed interest in it, it arrived shortly afterwards and was delicious. We never saw cheese with honey, so maybe that item is no longer offered. The positives of Bonissoni were the tender and flavorful meats, and the pleasant dining room. The downsides were the cold sides, the length of time it took for meat service, and the lackluster service in general. I was curious about Bonissoni, but having now tried it, it is unlikely that I'll go back and I have had much better experiences at other Brazilian steakhouses.

Greeted immediately and warmly upon arrival the restaurant is very clean, stylish and inviting. Our waitress Paula was superb, very friendly and informative and was always right there without hovering. The food was delicious, the meats were so fresh and cooked well and not salty as most Brazilian steak houses are. I would've preferred more cheese bread, but that's on me for not asking. I def didn't leave hungry and had no room for dessert

We had a delicious dinner and we will be back! Thank you.

Our first time visiting and it will not be there last! Delicious food, deserts and drinks.

The food was so salty I couldn't eat it and it was very expensive. The staff was very nice though. It's also too much food for older people.

After driving 40 minutes we arrived 10 minutes early as they don't open until 430; no problem ,they saw us in the parking lot and waved us in. Unusual as most places guard the door to the second. They sat us immediately, and introduced us to our server Alyssa ,who turned out to be the most knowledgeable , professional person we have ever met. And we have been dining out and working in the industry for many years! The fun began; my wife ordered her Filet Mignon and I asked Alyssa what she recommended , shocking me she said The Skirt Steak with marbled potatoes with the empanadas as an appetizer. I was certain she would have said the Porterhouse or Tomahawk to upsell us but she was spot on as it was incredibly tender and flavorful . In summary it was the most delightful fine dining experience we have ever enjoyed! Thank you Alyssa and your incredible chefs and fellow servers for unforgettable 56 anniversary dinner!

We wanted to try a little bit of everything, so decided on the mixed grill for 2, with mashed potatoes and fires on the side. We started with the focaccia bread and oil dressing that were very good. We also got the enchiladas, one spicy cheese and the other beef. These were okay, nothing crazy but enjoyable. However, the mixed grill was simply not worth the money. The sausage was over cooked, strip steak flavorless and the long short ribs were tough. The chicken was okay, but nothing better than anywhere else I've had grilled chicken before. Our waitress Jennifer was amazing. And when she asked how our experience was, she could see by the lack of food we had eaten, and the expression on my face, we were not impressed. We ended our meal with the tres leches cake that was very good. Overall, this place is a gimmicky tourist trap that over charges for their "atmosphere" and prays you get drunk off their $250 wine before you order. I thought for sure it would be decent, and was wrong. I would hate to see the quality in peak tourist season. Leaving hungry was not something I imagined.

The quality of the meat regarding temperature and seasoning was average. This restaurant has not been around for a very long time so I will give this one another chance down the road. Parking was average but the prices doesn't reflect the quality of food you would expect from a restaurant that claims that it's a Brazilian steakhouse. No off cuts that would scare away those intimidated by some of the more rustic ingredients that are sometimes found in feijoada. There are beautiful ribs and delicious smokey flavor here and nothing to fear or peck at. The condiments. The chef from São Paulo has a real mastery of condiments. His salad dressing will literally turn you into a salad person even if you don't enjoy or typically opt for a salad. There is a little vinegar-based pepper condiment for the feijoada that perfectly balances the wieght of the dish. Don't sleep on any of the little liquids in plastic cups that are served to you. They are all gold. The few issues I've had are regarding communication to customers. I've driven to the restaurant during normal business hours THREE times in a row to find them closed. On two occasions they closed early because it was a slow day. This is especially odd because their hours are lunch-focused as opposed to dinner focused. This is common in Brazil but I feel a little out of place in the U.S. Being closed for dinner is not great, in my personal opinion. Another time they were closed for participating in a culture festival, which is wonderful, but when I called before coming there was no automated message or any type of communication at all informing me that they wouldn't be open that day. It was irritating. Despite the above, when you can make it in, call to make sure they are actually there, and your visit will be well worth it.
