These are just like the ones in Baja California across the border. It's located in a market so not like the taco bars in Ensenada but we appreciate good food in a food court setting anytime! The tacos are incredible! Super authentic and delicious! The tortillas are kind of in between flour and corn (i personally don't like corn tortillas and I really like their tortillas). My favorite meat is the barbacoa and my husband loves the barbacoa and carne asade. They put cilantro and onions on top, but you can also ask for just the cilantro or nothing. We recently moved from California and needed to find a local Mexican market that was like back home. I thought we found it when we had came to Michoacán the first few times. Last night though was our last. The lady cashier made my family feel really awkward. My kids were standing right there by my side. I had said, "hello", thinking she was going to say the same, but no, she didn't. How rude not to greet someone who has greeted you. I don't know why, maybe she was having a bad night, but my baby's seen this and it's not cool to treat customers like this. Great authentic Mexican food. I avoided the place for a long time even after hearing how great it was from coworkers because it is always busy. The language barrier is a bit intimidating as well when you're trying to order and there are 30 people in line waiting behind you who all speak Spanish. Its like almost every Mexican market around in each city. Can't see thru the glass at the meat department so really can't see what you are buying so that made me not purchase any meat but I did purchase some boillo and they where good. Also they have Taco Tuesday so after shopping I ate there and it was delicious!!! They have a small salsa bar very delicious as well!! They have a well stocked condiment bar with various hot and mild salsas, pico, jalapeños and more! Buy the meat by the pound, grab some pico and salsa in quart containers and throw a street taco feast at home for family and friends. Great Tacos!! Cheap on Tuesdays and Fridays

My friend and I decided to go to the Mexican store for some tacos for our after school snack. Walking in, there were a various amount of different foods and products. We were the only ones standing in line yet nobody seemed to notice us as they were right in front of us! We hesitantly called out for some help yet there was no reply until a few minutes later when a older lady took our orders. She didn't speak much English nor could we speak Spanish so we just pointed to the types of meat we wanted and hoped she understood. There was also a small cart next to the seatings that contained onions, salsas, lime, and sauces ranging from mild to spicy! After deciding which toppings would compliment our tacos, we decided to find a seat. My friend and I decided to sit near the windows, we found out later that it wasn't such a great idea. The seatings were unsanitary and had a bunch of flies swarming around the window near us, gross! Now moving on, let's "taco bout" the actual tastes of our fresh corn tacos! I'll be bluntly honest, I didn't see the "wow" factor in these tacos. They were good but nothing special. And from a spicy food lover, the spicy red sauce definitely had my nose running! I said in a previous review it was like stepping out of Olathe into Mexico when you passed through their doors, and I still feel that way. They serve some of the best and cheapest street tacos that I have had. It's dollar tacos on Tuesdays, but only $1.49 other nights. The Olathe branch of Bonito Michoacán finally had its grand opening a weekend or so ago. i made my first visit this afternoon and was very pleased, indeed! This is a combination market and restaurant and it was bustling, even though it opened only recently. The gringo quotient was low -- there were a few having lunch or shopping, but the clientele is mostly Hispanic, and the signs on many items, like the produce, are only in Spanish. The market is good sized and well-stocked. There is a bakery section that offers a pretty extensive selection of pan dulce as well as some savory Mexican breads. (For some reason the bolillos, the ubiquitous French rolls that are everyday bread in Mexico, are very large. I've seen that in other local Mexican bakeries, so I assume that's how they're probably made in northern Mexico, where most of the local Hispanic community comes from. In Mexico City, where I grew up, they're smaller, the size of a dinner roll, and crispy. These have a less crispy crust and are the right size for making a torta (a Mexican sandwich). The produce section seemed to be well stocked, with fresh chayote and nopal among other offerings. The meat market is extensive and seemed to have all the popular Mexican cuts, both plain and pre-marinated in spicy adobo. They have house-made chorizo and chicharrón. The rest of the market carries the anticipated canned and packaged goods. Along with the Mexican items there are a handful of Central American specialties. One aisle is almost all Goya products. The same items by competing brands can be found in the other aisles. They carry a wide variety of canned and dry beans, including some tiny Salvadoran red beans and a pale Peruvian variety I wasn't familiar with. There's an extensive selection of packaged dried chilies and ground spices and medicinal herbs, as well as the various herbal teas popular in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America. There were even a couple of brands of Argentine yerba mate! In short, the market is quite complete, but if there's anything you can't find, you should be able to get it nearby at one of the other Mexican grocers in Olathe, or at the "El Choppo South" on Santa Fe, just east of I-35, which rivals the store in Roeland Park. There's also a good Mexican bakery in the shopping center where Price Chopper is located. The restaurant section is self-service and offers antojitos like street tacos, burritos, tamales, gorditas, and various platters. The menus (on signs) are bilingual. There's a choice of meats, like carnitas, carne asada, barbacoa and birria (made of lamb here). I had a carnitas burrito which was quite authentic! The carnitas here are a bit softer, moister and fattier than I'm used to. I tend to prefer the slightly leaner and drier version found at some other restaurants in the area. But I certainly intend to return to try some of the other meats. There are Mexican soft drinks (I had a refreshing grapefruit Fanta), standard fountain drinks, aguas frescos, etc. Prices were all very reasonable. There's a condiment bar, and each booth has a squeeze bottle of a creamy-looking salsa verde. By the way, the meats are also available by the pound, so you can buy what you want, along with tortillas and the makings for your favorite salsa, and have a party at home! All in all, a really welcome addition to South Johnson County! It's certainly convenient not to have to trek to the markets in town for supplies and finally be able to find virtually everything I could want close to my own neighborhood. ¡Viva Michoacán! read more

I have yet to purchase fresh meat from there but the produces and meat look fresh, good varieties to choose from as well. The in store restaurant part is great.
