We had just got in town, our airb&b was down the street. My family said how about bbq we we said sure. When we walked in it took a minute for someone to acknowledge us to be sested. The service was okay, you could tell it was a place locals go to because our waiter spent plently of time talking to other tables. The ambiance was ok, it had that small town bbq feel so I'm thinkong this is gonna be good. We had the corn fritters those were good. Our party of 4 all ordered different things. W of the plates the meat was cold, like it had been sitting there. The sides were ok, I mean my mac n cheese was got and fresh. We took our leftovers to go but we didnt even use them or heat them up like we intended. Maybe different day or time the experience could be better but disappointed as a visiting customer driving thru town to stop. read more

I met with a client for lunch here and had no problem finding it. This Bono's Pit Bar-B-Q is located in a shopping plaza where a Publix is the anchor store. There is plenty of parking and the shopping plaza is well maintained. We waited a few minutes at the host station to be seated, but in their defense, they were pretty busy. I would also find that our server was a bit harried and we waited a bit longer. Again, this could be because they were shortstaffed due to the labor shortage so kudos if they were a bit overwhelmed for them sticking it out. I ended up selecting the large chicken platter, which was about twelve dollars. For my two sides, I chose the Brunswick stew and collard greens. It also came with a piece of garlic bread. My business client went with the turkey with french fries and baked beans. When my chicken came, I did notice it was definitely a small half bird. It was also dry from overcooking. The collard greens and Brunswick stew were bland and lackluster. I did find their hot barbecue sauce pretty good, though. My client's turkey looked pretty good. If I find myself back here, I would definitely give it a try. Overall, I am going to give Bono's Pit Bar-B-Q three stars. Nothing terrible, but also nothing special. read more

I've traveled and moved across this country 12 times and I have never been so utterly disappointed in a BBQ restaurant. The smoke house smell as you walked through that door was intoxicating, everyone was hungry, our mouths watering! We came on a Sunday after church, we waited only a few minutes for a table for 7. The staff was accommodating and friendly. I ordered the Bird Dog under the Smokehouse Stackers, thinking it would be a stack of meat. My fault for not reading the fine print, it was served on a bun like a burger, no big deal. The turkey tasted like it should be served in a hospital cafeteria. It tasted like imitation turkey, if that's a thing. Definitely didn't 'pull it from the pit' if you get me. The sausage, not home made, tasted like bratwurst. Kids Mac n cheese, tasted like canned Mac so of course, my toddler wanted nothing to do with it. A piece of advice, just use a box of Kraft. You already know that's what kids want. My husband ordered the brisket, it was very dry like it's been reheated and served. My oldest ordered the Pit Boss and he did enjoy that. The collards were ok, the Fried Green Tomato appetizer was ok too. Overall, I didn't like the food, I will probably never come back. read more

I'm giving 3 star for service. Called in to order sandwiches to go. She put me on hold. I drove from Middleburg Walmart to Bono's and was still on hold when we walked in. When hubby told her he was on hold with them for 13 min. She said nothing. Just took the order. That's not great service to say the least. We are 20 min in on the order and still nothing. I shouldn't really be surprised since it's Middleburg but this is pretty pathetic. read more

Very popular place in Middleburg for both takeout and dine in! Brisket and shredded pork are my favorites and I love their crispy fries! Meal plates are served with toast. Their chicken is really good too, but they only serve it bone in. (usually I prefer shredded.) Service is usually prompt and polite and the atmosphere pleasing. Lots of TVs to keep track of whatever game is on. read more

This was our first time trying the chain. We ordered two 3 meat combos both with ribs, chicken, and sausage. The sausage was extremely salty! The chicken was dry where the skin was dried on and attached to the meat, the ribs were okay. The sides were horrible. The greens and Mac and cheese tasted like canned food. Let me tell y'all something.... I know for a FACT they are putting neck bones in those greens!!! When I tell you I forget that I'm not at my grandma house when I'm eating this food. Now I've only gotten it via delivery so that says alot just at the fact that this food can be delivered 10-20 minutes after it's been made and still maintain the freshness and quality of the meal. My family of four went around 6:30, and waited quite a while to be seated, and right there I had a bad feeling. Lots of empty tables. The bad: The girl that finally greeted us was very rushed. We weren't greeted with a smile or anything. She just showed us a table, and walked off. Your greeter is the first thing people see when they come in, and if you aren't even given customer service then, that's a problem. I tried to smile and thank her and was promptly shut down. She did come back and get our drink order, again very rushed. After she took our order, it took almost 15 minutes to get our drinks. We were actually getting up from our table to leave because an actual server hadn't even acknowledged us (there were several empty tables inside) and finally she came by. Let me just say that after looking around, it seemed as if they were short staffed today, but since it was our first time there I'm not sure how to judge that. Our waitress was running around like crazy all over the restaurant balancing multiple jobs at once. Greeting, busing tables, doing checks, taking orders from every corner of the place, etc. I could honestly tell she was a bit frazzled and I honestly felt bad for her. When the food was brought out, they completely forgot my oldest daughter's food and it took a bit for our server to come back around for us to flag her down and let her know. The Good: The food was fantastic. I got the sandwich with pulled pork and cole slaw. It was melt-in-your-mouth yummy. The fried corn was amazing too. Fries were great, the chicken wings were great. Super yummy food, seriously. My youngest didn't eat her turkey sandwich, and after we all tried it we agreed it wasn't our favorite. That's OK though, the rest of the food was too good to dock a star for the turkey. If tonight was a fluke because of short staffing, I totally understand and will try it again. Let's start with the good - the turkey was excellent. Moist n juicy, and super tender. The brisket arrived at the table sliced wafer thin, which as any BBQ lover knows is a tell tell sign that it probably wasn't very tender - and no surprise, it wasn't. Even wafer thin it failed the pull test. The pulled pork tasted almost like it was boiled to reheat it - just had a weird texture and was very bland. The menu says something to the effect of "we serve our BBQ with a generous amount of sauce" which you will certainly need to compensate for the bland seasoning. Greens are bad, plain and simple, as is the Mac. Fries are what you'd expect. Two stars just because the Turkey was so damn well cooked. read more

We went for lunch as a family on a Sunday afternoon (peek rush time I'm sure) and had to wait about 20 minutes. The restaurant seemed a little understaffed and the food took longer than I would have liked. However, our waitress was extremely sweet and apologetic. We were a bit worried, seeing only 3* but took the chance anyway. We're quite glad we did. We were here right at opening. The food is excellent. Customer service lovely. Both of us had pulled pork. We tried Mac and cheese (5*), potato salad (3*), black eyed peas (3*). My pork had slaw on it (4*). The pork itself (4*) was a little on the dry side but plenty flavorful. The sauces were great. My wife and I ordered the large rib plate w/ 2 sides from the Lunch menu for $11.99. The ribs had no flavor whatsoever. They didn't taste like they were smoked. I came all the way down from NY for good BBQ and it was disappointing because the meat came with no sauce on it. The spices were disappointing especially where I come from there is an awesome BBQ place in NY. I was at a family reunion with my fiancé and I needed an adult beverage which they did not have that was a disappointment. I've been going to Bono's BBQ throughout Jax for over 20 years and this is their newest location in the Jax area. The food is average for a Bono's, but their prices have exceeded their quantity and quality. I cannot say this strongly enough, if you prpefer small portions and high prices (or have money to spare AND are on a diet), this is the BBQ for you. A 4 oz. sandwich with one side will set you back $8.00 +tax+tip. Yes, that is $10.00 for a quarter pounder with water! Get a 6 oz. hog sandwich with two sides and drink, once you add in tip and tax you are looking at a $15.00+ sandwich, which is just barely up to proper BBQ portions. The new location is nice, but only go if you are NOT that hungry or have money to burn. read more

Good BarBQ but what stands out the most is the mustard base sauce since 1948. We buy it by the gallon.

Food is always fresh, delicious, and fairly priced. Staff is pretty nice. My kids love watching them cut the meat by the pit.
