LOVE everything I got!!! 100% FINALLY tried the Nori Fish Sandwich and the Jin Xuan Oolong Milk Tea - both of which I've been meaning to try for a longggg time. Glad they did not disappoint! Nori Fish Sandwich ($15 sandwich only) Decent size, nice and crispy fish filet but tender and juicy on the inside. It's wild caught cod fish - no fishy taste here! The house tartar sauce was delicious, paired with fresh, crunch purple onion pieces, and cheddar cheese. The flavors work so well together! Doesn't make me feel too heavy or sluggish after eating it. They only room for improvement would be to enhance the nori flavor - couldn't taste it that much in the batter. Came on a rainy day, so free regular size (milk) tea with food purchase! The options are assam milk tea, jasmine milk tea, roasted oolong tea, Jin Xuan oolong milk tea, and honey roasted oolong milk tea. Jin Xuan Oolong Milk Tea The tea flavor is super prominent - just how I like it - and it has a nice floral profile to it, kind of like a combo of four seasons tea and osmanthus tea plus oolong. And the sweetness is perfect! Got it with no ice and it was almost full, the drink was still cold. Love it! There was no line, waited about 9 minutes which wasn't bad. Totally recommend and need to get these again!
I was a little disappinted in the trip today. Triped the supreme chicken wrap and i think the lettuce threw off the wrap. It wouldve been better without it but thats my preference. I usually love honey walnut shrimp burger but today it just tasted like a shrimp burger. It didnt have that honey walnuty taste like before. Popcorn chicken was good though. Glad it was still the same. I love the basil aioli. I also go the vegan popcorn chicken for my vegetarian aunt and it wasnt bad although i prefer real meat. She can eat that one all by herself. My drinks were a little underwhelming i think id stick with the starwberry basil lemonade. I got the strawberry lychee breeze and even after mixing//stiring the drink. It didnt feel refreshing. The lychee pudding or the white stuff was warm no matter how long it sat in the drink. The honey latte felt like it was mostly milk as well and not enough coffee.
Tasty drinks, great service, even better popcorn chicken! We got the original flavor dark meat, I wish it can be a mix/match with breast and dark for the popcorn but all good. The chicken is well seasoned and the dipping sauce was yum. We got the hot coffee milk, latte and a roasted oolong tea. Nice to know they use lactose free milk and you have the option to choose oat milk as an alternative, for a fee. EDIT: oat milk as an alternative, for free! My mistake - I must have misheard. Thanks owners!! The space and the restroom were clean but you do need a code to use their restroom. Glad to visit a Taiwanese business while in town. Tasty beverages and food!
I stopped by Bopomofo Cafe and decided to try their popcorn chicken. I'm glad I did because it was so good! The popcorn chicken was flavorful and had a nice crispy texture. Each bite was really tasty, and it was a good portion to have as a snack or something to enjoy with a drink. I really liked the seasoning on the chicken too. It wasn't something I expected to like as much as I did, but I would definitely order it again. I also liked that it's something easy to grab while hanging out at the cafe. The popcorn chicken was definitely my favorite part of my visit. Overall, I had a good experience at Bopomofo Cafe and really enjoyed the popcorn chicken.
While site-seeing LA, this was a nice pick me up! Really loved the flavor of their tea! Very distinct and not too sweet! Fried chicken has also a distinct flavoring on it and we all enjoyed our quick break! The staff was friendly. Great spot to study or catch up with friends. Highly recommend checking out this spot!
Unfortunately this wasn't my favorite place for drinks. We got the guava series and it just didn't hit the spot. Maybe their food is better. Their matcha didn't taste as smooth and their guava was a bit chunky.
There is a promo on Doordash currently - 45% off orders $15+! Amazing deal! Got the Scallion Pancake Chicken Wrap Supreme ($14.50) was pretty good. It consisted of a house made scallion pancake with chicken tender, egg, cabbage, Thai basil, and cheese. It looked pretty small similar to a snack wrap but it was very filling. The chicken tender was similar to popcorn chicken. Wished it was more crispy since it seemed pretty dry and not much of a crunch. The pancake was a bit bland but I enjoyed that it wasn't as oily as scallion pancake usually is at other places. Overall, I felt like this was slightly overpriced but it was worth trying! The Black Sesame Matcha ($8.50) was amazing! I got it in large so that was extra $1. Requested it with regular ice, half sweet, and oat milk and really enjoyed that it wasn't packed with ice and not overly sweet. It's nice that they don't charge extra for milk substitutions! The matcha tasted very rich in flavor and I could tell they most likely use ceremonial quality matcha. The sesame was very nutty and really enjoyed that they make it in-house. This was definitely one of my favorite drinks! NOTE: it's very important to give it a good stir prior to drinking otherwise the sesame just sinks on the bottom! The Lychee Pear Blossom ($8) was so good! I got it half sweet with regular ice and it was just the right amount of sweetness and ice! Loved how they use fresh lychee and pear with no artificial colors or flavor! This drink was very refreshing and fruity! The green tea wasn't too overpowering and made the drink even more enjoyable! Overall, I really enjoyed my drinks and the wrap was ok. The prices are slightly higher than other cafes but it's nice that they use real fruits without any artificial flavors or colors unlike many other places!
I always like bopomofo. They have a great variety of drinks and my favorite is the black sesame. They also have corn milk, which is not very common. Tonight they're having a 62626 event with complementary California rolls from Yama sushi some Dubai chocolate and delicious ice cream from 626. Come by and enjoy the mah jong tables outside too
I really liked this spot! I was craving popcorn chicken, and this place did not disappoint. Even though it was pricey, for $13 you get a lot of popcorn chicken, enough that it can be shared between two people if you wanted. I also got the Black Sesame Matcha and modified the sweetness. It was perfect! The service was quick, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My only thing is that the prices seemed a bit steep/expensive, but the quality was really good.
So, I appreciate that they made sure my shrimp burger had no onions since I'm allergic to them. But unfortunately, it needed more flavor and sauce. I was so disappointed because I've had it multiple times before and it was delicious. It seemed like an off day in general when I went on March 21st because the drinks also weren't up to their usual standards. The pear lychee tea didn't have lychee flavor. Great pear and jasmine flavor though. And the orange wang was strangely bitter! I've had it before and it wasn't like that! Good tater tots though, fresh and crispy. Service was friendly as always. Bummer that things weren't as great as usual. Hoping next time I visit it's good.
4 years later, and Bopomofo is probably my favorite boba and tea spot! Mainly because they now offer seating and are not exclusively to-go. I like to come here with my laptop, tablet, and journal to "lock in," and I often get a lot done. I'm currently writing this on a Wednesday afternoon (around 2:45 PM) in June, and it is not busy at all. Some people are sitting and working on their computers, but the parking lot is pretty much empty. Probably the emptiest I've seen it (and it gets very very busy). The wifi wasn't working when I arrived. My devices were connecting to the network, but nothing was loading, and I kept getting those "Check your connection" messages. There was a male staff member checking in on everyone, so I asked about the wifi. He checked and said they restarted the router, and shortly, I was able to connect and be online! So thank you :) Drinks are still unique. Every once in a while, there are special deals and discounts and seasonal drinks of course. I'm glad to see they made the black sesame matcha a permanent addition to the menu, because it often sold out quickly during spooky season. Still recommend Bopomofo. I haven't been to any of their other locations, but it's nice to see them expand. Congrats btw! I hope they come out with a rewards loyalty program tho.
5/11/2026 and few times before this visit Update: so glad that they finally change their store policy and let me order to-go matcha lattes without ice. Kudos Bopomofo! Can't wait for your other branches opening!
I went to Bopomofo Cafe in San Gabriel recently. I got the Brown Sugar Pudding Milk Tea. It was a bit too sweet for me. Also, the pudding felt oddly placed in it. The brown sugar boba added to the drink was okay. I thought also the drink is a bit pricey.

I've lived in SGV for about 3 years and since I've moved, I've tried countless boba shops waiting to crown what I believe deserves to be the #1 boba shop in the area. I'm happy to say Bopomofo is king! In terms of creativity, boba consistency, small bites, and tea flavor, I really think they're the best. So far, I've tried their: - Strawberry Corn Milk 9/10 - Guava Matcha Latte 8/10 - Assam Milk Tea 8/10 - Orange Wang 9/10 - Vineyard Green Tea 8/10 - Triple Strawberry Matcha 10/10 The Triple Strawberry Matcha is really what did it for me. The balance of sweetness, fragrance of strawberry, and intense matcha flavor it's legit the best drink I've ever had and deserves a 10/10. The staff are also always very inviting, efficient, and knowledgeable giving out great suggestions. I also love the artwork on the wall and music! It's a great space to relax, chat with friends, or study/work. Yes, it's a bit more on the pricey side but I think it's worth it to try something innovative and unique. I swung by for a pickup near end of the night since I needed food to bring back for me. My go-to is the Heritage Pork rice which thankfully wasn't sold out this time. It's a solid dish with legit taiwanese flavors that delivers every time. I appreciated that there was a parchment liner so that the rice didn't stick to the paper container. The spicy popcorn chicken was good - a bit on the spicier side and a tad salty so next time I'll try the regular one. It also came with a Thai chili aioli but didn't really need it because it already had a lot of flavor. Quick interaction with staff but they were efficient and the cook time/pickup wasn't long as all. The cafe inside is a cute little spot where it would be nice to hang out with friends. Parking is easy in the lot but it does get busy at times. I've never had trouble getting a spot though. read more

Love the drinks here! My favorite is the hey sesame with its smooth texture and great flavor. The boba itself was a little on the harder side, but it was still enjoyable. In another visit, I got the guava matcha drink. I've had it at the artesia location with was absolutely delicious! I didn't know guava and matcha complimented each other so well. However, when I got it at the San Gabriel location, it tasted different than what I was expecting. The texture was on the thicker side instead of a juice like texture, so I was disappointed. I'm not sure if it was just that day cause the consistency was off. read more

I've been here several times, and each visit has been great! I got the blueberry matcha, brown sugar milk tea with boba & pudding, and their spicy Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich. Their sandwich pleasantly surprised me, as their chicken was nicely crispy, seasoned, and especially juicy! It paired well with the napa cabbage and pickles. I also really liked how slightly sweet and fluffy the pineapple bread was! I also really liked their brown sugar milk tea, which was perfectly sweet, and the boba was chewy. Their blueberry matcha was also pretty good, but I'd definitely get the brown sugar milk tea again! There's plenty of seating inside / outside the shop and the service here is spectacular! The workers are very friendly and helpful. I'd recommend coming here! read more
Bopomofo is absolutely one of my favorite spots for drinks. I love that they serve solely lactose-free options (lactose-free milk, oat milk) so I have that peace of mind that I won't ever accidentally get "regular" milk. Employees are friendly and provide great service, as they take the time to bring our order to our table when they are able to (AKA when not as busy). Yesterday we just HAD TO return for the new menu with strawberry matcha! We also ordered a Mango Assam and some popcorn chicken. It was served fresh and piping hot. We usually come here later in the day when there isn't as many patrons, so it's usually pretty quiet apart from some music. There is also outside seating available. This is one of our go-to spots and I'm so happy to see them expanding! read more
The crowds have died down from when this place first opened, but they are still a very decent spot for milk tea. There's some cooked snacks too but we were all too full to order any! More seating than normal vs their competitors, parking in the lot is a bit rough as the plaza is so busy. Service is very good. 3.5 stars, but the parking situation is enough to make me round down instead of up. read more

I've been following Philip Wang from Wong Fu Productions for a while, and I've been wanting to try this spot--I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint! The space itself is clean and bright, with some outdoor seating options. Mapo Tofu Tots - 5/5 A smart and delicious take on a classic Chinese dish. The tots pair perfectly with the mapo tofu, bringing a taste of home with a creative twist! Hainan Chicken Tacos - 2/5 Unfortunately, the chicken was a bit dry, and the sauces didn't do much to elevate the dish. I was hoping for more flavor overall. Popcorn Chicken - 5/5 The Thai basil aioli is absolutely insane! The popcorn chicken is crispy and tasty, but that aioli really takes it to the next level. Ba-La Matcha (Guava Matcha) - 5/5 The matcha was high-quality and flavorful, and I was pleasantly surprised by the combo with guava. It's a refreshing and unique pairing! I was craving a home-cooked meal, that was not cooked at home, so that landed me at the Heritage Lu Rou Rice after reading the description claiming that it uses Eric's Grandmother's recipe. I felt the love. It was a good balance of fatty and lean cuts of pork belly mixed with some shiitake mushrooms and pickled mustard greens to cut the fat. It also came with a perfectly jammy egg in the center which was delicious. I wish there was more of the meat though because I ended up with a lot of leftover rice. If the ratio of meat to rice was better, I would not hesitate to order this again. read more

They offer boba and Taiwanese inspired dishes! I got the lu rou rice bowl and the flavors are delicious except I'd suggest adding more of the sauce to the rice! My friends got the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and sandwiches! That looked delicious. Would recommend trying it! Fair warning is that they are a little pricey but you do get good quality out of it read more
This cafe is very cute and has a nice aesthetic inside. The order was taken to go, but it was definitely quick and efficient when picking up the order. The food was also amazing for a quick and easy boba cafe! The tots were so crispy and filled with flavor, and the sandwich had quite a kick to it, but the flocked of the shrimp definitely came out. Come by this spot if you want more then just great drinks, but really hearty food as well! read more

Definitely a good place to come study, especially on the weekdays it is not too crowded. my friend and I shared an order of the popcorn chicken and got a hojicha latte and a watermelon tea (I think? I kinda forgot the exact name). the hojicha was probably one of the best i have tasted. I am actually a matcha/hojicha addict and this hojicha was so smooth tasting and so so yummy. the popcorn chicken was also so tasty. it was nice and crispy and it came with this avocado-ey mayo tasting sauce which really complimented the chicken. will definitely be back here again! the drinks here are lowkey so affordable too. read more
Situated in a quaint, unoutstandish plaza, bopomofo has a great mix of teas, and snack items. I got the carrot matcha, the first time I ever seen something like that and the mint matcha. Both were great, the carrot flavor was unpronounced whereas the mint was good but quite small for ~$7. Popcorn chicken was crisp and I would like to try the hainan chicken tacos later. read more
Bopamofu is both in the 626 and Cerritos has been one of the better spots I have gone to. Always sporting much more interesting drink and food combinations than many other spots as well as a chic and chill spot to hang at, I recommend it for any person tapped in to SoCal boba culture. I especially like their mapo tots and honey walnut shrimp sandwich which are great fusion twists on their traditional counterparts. read more
The drinks have its own unique flavor and taste. The cafe is quiet, and many people coming in the day. Staffs are friendly and willingly to answer any question you have. I like the Frankie's matcha. It's matcha mixed with blueberry compote. Very special and popular! It's a seasonal drink. The LA Autumn is very good too. Came around 2pm on a Monday and there was no wait at all, ordered Frankie's Matcha which was a blueberry matcha drink. It took about 5 minutes to get my drink and a bit of a struggle to mix up the blueberry syrup, even with a straw, since the drink is cold and the syrup is stuck pretty hard to the bottom. The drink itself was alright, nothing spectacular, but towards the end (where the rest of the blueberry syrup is) it got undrinkable from how sweet/overwhelming the blueberry was and I didn't finish it. read more
The famous Bopomofo Cafe. Finally made it to the West Coast and this was top of my go to place! Owner is co-founder of the YouTube WongFu Production. I was so excited to come here. Spotted Phil sitting at a nearby table and he bounced to the front registry to help his staff from time to time. I was so nervous and shy... couldn't ask him for a photo so I took a picture of my drink with him in the background. Sorry for being so creepy/sneaky lol. We ordered a few drinks and 1 food to share. It was only after ordering, repeating our order, and paying, that we noticed on the receipt and that one of the drink was missing boba. Suggestion: have staff repeat the order because we already repeated it twice just to make sure it's correct. We decided against speaking up as we discovered it too late after paying. We didn't want to make a fuzz. Perhaps it was the face mask that prevented her from hearing us? We did repeated it twice but she did seem distracted. We ordered: Jasmine milk tea with boba (missing the boba) Matcha latte Brown sugar pudding milk tea Heritage Lu Rou Rice (braised pork belly) Drinks were good and sweet. Lu Rou Rice had nice big chunks of meat with the rice but I wish there was abit more sauce. Overall good and I'm glad we visited. read more

Quick and easy process to order, good location and calm atmosphere. I've gotten the special matcha each time and it doesn't disappoint! The guava is the best so far! The rose tasted more floral than I would have liked but it was definitely much sweeter than the strawberry. The strawberry matcha is surprisingly bitter. Would not recommend the strawberry. read more
Food was good. Service was friendly. Decor was minimal and would have had plenty of seating had it not been crowded. Don't come if you're in a hurry. Seems to be an extremely popular place. Packed in here. Line out the door. Disappointed that we waited almost an hour for our food when we were told it would only be 20 minutes. Several parties were waiting for to go orders when we arrived. What we ordered: - Favorite was the popcorn chicken. Ordered original flavor. The dipping sauce was the star of the show. Thick, creamy, basil rich sauce. Delish. - Honey walnut shrimp burger was an impressive size patty but fell a little short with the honey flavor. Was a bit lacking. Packed with jalapeños was overwhelming and honestly distracted from the intended flavor. -Hainan Chicken Tacos. A little too much ginger for my liking but it had decent flavor. I enjoyed the bits of fried pieces scattered throughout. Pickled onions always hit. The tacos for some reason took 15 minutes longer than the rest of our food for some reason. - Also ordered Coffee Milk Tea. Loved the combination. I don't have a reason why I never tried this place, I grew up watching Wong Fu Productions and seen all over social media when this place opened up about half a decade ago. I was around the area and figured why not. Surprisingly Phil happened to drop by the day I was there. Phil looks and sounds just like his videos, so nostalgic haha! BA-LA Matcha - guava shines through the matcha and everything paired well. Blueberry Matcha - blueberry puree gave it a nice texture. This is a great space to work at with tables, WiFi, and a bright and clean space. - Honey Walnut Shrimp Burger: Divine! So yummy! It's got the shrimp, and it's got the sauce! Black sesame latte 4/5 - it was good but I wish the black sesame flavor was a bit stronger. Good drink if you like black sesame with no caffeine It was my first time back after trying their carrot matcha when they first opened. Drove all the way from the bay because I just had to try, and I am so glad to say, the drive was worth it. The first time we had their food, I unfortunately could not get a phot because I had already finished eating it without thinking to take a picture. This time, I remembered to take a photo after coming back again. All the drinks we ordered were amazing. The staff were so nice each time we visited. They made sure everything was ok and reminded is that adjustments can be made. But honestly, we did not need any adjustments. The place very lively and friendly here and I would want to come study here. read more

Loved the atmosphere! Ample charging ports for those wanting to find a place to study and love the comfortability! I stayed for a couple of hours studying and there were many others as well! Only note is that it is pricey. I got the spicy popcorn chicken and a jasmine green tea with boba and it came out to a little more than $20. The tea is great but my friend's matcha tasted a little watered down. I loved my Jasmine tea so if you are a Jasmine tea person, you'll love it here! The popcorn chicken is soo good but imo, it's a little overpriced for the cost. I will continue to support tho cuz this might be one of my favorite study spaces! During my trip here, I was super excited to try this spot. I ordered the strawberry corn milk, which was quite unique. I never had anything like this before. It was the perfect amount of sweetness from the corn and the strawberry puree. Overall, it was a solid drink that I would order again. I had to get the spicy walnut shrimp burger since I tried it during their Westgate mall pop up in 2022. It was exactly how I imagined it to taste like. Love at first bite. Wow. I saw Bopomofo on the map as early as before I even moved to LA -- it called to me as a place that was uniquely Taiwanese but I never knew what to expect of it. But my friend popped in once and told me how elevated the experience now was compared to when he went when it first opened and said we had to go together. They didn't have the bolo buns the day we went so no chicken sandwich () but I opted to try the honey shrimp burger instead. The bread was fluffy and soft, and the patty was super juicy and shrimpy. The ratios of all of the fillings were absolutely immaculate. I also tried the beef noodle soup sandwich and it totally works. All of the essential beef noodle soup flavors are there and it's a totally different textural experience worth trying. There's free water (you can ask for a cup) if you're not looking to get a drink, and there are plenty of tables. A lot of people are ordering to go so there's usually somewhere to sit and there's WiFi if you're looking to study or work. Not the quietest place to be and as the sun goes down it gets really bright, but it still works if all of the factors come together. I love how this place is so quintessentially Asian American -- it brings me a lot of comfort to my childhood, when I was often the only Asian person in my East Coast schools. read more

Is the Kiwi Lemon Tea, BA-LA Matcha or Phil's Combo still there? Had it in my cart to order online only a few days ago, but now they're gone. Instagram said "Fall/Winter". Confusing. PANIC?
BA-LA is on their year-round menu. I just got the kiwi lemon a couple weeks ago, but I think they may have switched to their winter winter menu. Not sure though bout the kiwi lemon

When the website doesn't work to order in advance and there's no phone number, what can I do? It keeps saying my items are unavailable but I even tried just a jasmine green tea, and same error. I can't believe they're out of green tea :(
There website is always broken. You have to go there in person and order there. No work around.
Do they still have wifi even though they're takeout only?
They have their own wifi (BOPORESERVE) but I'm not sure if it's open to guests because it has a password.

Does the vegetarian popcorn chicken have egg? I'm allergic to chicken egg and chicken meat but would love to try it if I can!

no they don't have a phone number because of how busy it gets. terrible if u have to cancel an order, i had to drive all the way over there!
Are you no longer taking postmates orders? All of my orders in two days on separate occasions keep getting cancelled.
There's no way to order in person so I think that may be why your orders are being cancelled.
Is there a way to pay online using multiple gift cards?
I believe the best answer is to contact the vender directly. it seems like they respond quickly.
Is caramel coloring used to make the boba?
No, they use brown sugar for their brown sugar boba.
Do they have Irvin's salted egg fish skin?

Is their veggie popcorn chicken cooked separately from their other meat? Like the separate fryer does not share the same oil as the other meat?

For dairy free drinks, there is the option of oat milk for no extra charge. For food, always make sure to ask but they have always been accommodating in making any changes.
Does their popcorn chicken consist of dark meat or white meat?
They now have white or dark meat!
