LOVE everything I got!!! 100% FINALLY tried the Nori Fish Sandwich and the Jin Xuan Oolong Milk Tea - both of which I've been meaning to try for a longggg time. Glad they did not disappoint! Nori Fish Sandwich ($15 sandwich only) Decent size, nice and crispy fish filet but tender and juicy on the inside. It's wild caught cod fish - no fishy taste here! The house tartar sauce was delicious, paired with fresh, crunch purple onion pieces, and cheddar cheese. The flavors work so well together! Doesn't make me feel too heavy or sluggish after eating it. They only room for improvement would be to enhance the nori flavor - couldn't taste it that much in the batter. Came on a rainy day, so free regular size (milk) tea with food purchase! The options are assam milk tea, jasmine milk tea, roasted oolong tea, Jin Xuan oolong milk tea, and honey roasted oolong milk tea. Jin Xuan Oolong Milk Tea The tea flavor is super prominent - just how I like it - and it has a nice floral profile to it, kind of like a combo of four seasons tea and osmanthus tea plus oolong. And the sweetness is perfect! Got it with no ice and it was almost full, the drink was still cold. Love it! There was no line, waited about 9 minutes which wasn't bad. Totally recommend and need to get these again!
I was a little disappinted in the trip today. Triped the supreme chicken wrap and i think the lettuce threw off the wrap. It wouldve been better without it but thats my preference. I usually love honey walnut shrimp burger but today it just tasted like a shrimp burger. It didnt have that honey walnuty taste like before. Popcorn chicken was good though. Glad it was still the same. I love the basil aioli. I also go the vegan popcorn chicken for my vegetarian aunt and it wasnt bad although i prefer real meat. She can eat that one all by herself. My drinks were a little underwhelming i think id stick with the starwberry basil lemonade. I got the strawberry lychee breeze and even after mixing//stiring the drink. It didnt feel refreshing. The lychee pudding or the white stuff was warm no matter how long it sat in the drink. The honey latte felt like it was mostly milk as well and not enough coffee.
Tasty drinks, great service, even better popcorn chicken! We got the original flavor dark meat, I wish it can be a mix/match with breast and dark for the popcorn but all good. The chicken is well seasoned and the dipping sauce was yum. We got the hot coffee milk, latte and a roasted oolong tea. Nice to know they use lactose free milk and you have the option to choose oat milk as an alternative, for a fee. EDIT: oat milk as an alternative, for free! My mistake - I must have misheard. Thanks owners!! The space and the restroom were clean but you do need a code to use their restroom. Glad to visit a Taiwanese business while in town. Tasty beverages and food!
I stopped by Bopomofo Cafe and decided to try their popcorn chicken. I'm glad I did because it was so good! The popcorn chicken was flavorful and had a nice crispy texture. Each bite was really tasty, and it was a good portion to have as a snack or something to enjoy with a drink. I really liked the seasoning on the chicken too. It wasn't something I expected to like as much as I did, but I would definitely order it again. I also liked that it's something easy to grab while hanging out at the cafe. The popcorn chicken was definitely my favorite part of my visit. Overall, I had a good experience at Bopomofo Cafe and really enjoyed the popcorn chicken.
While site-seeing LA, this was a nice pick me up! Really loved the flavor of their tea! Very distinct and not too sweet! Fried chicken has also a distinct flavoring on it and we all enjoyed our quick break! The staff was friendly. Great spot to study or catch up with friends. Highly recommend checking out this spot!
Unfortunately this wasn't my favorite place for drinks. We got the guava series and it just didn't hit the spot. Maybe their food is better. Their matcha didn't taste as smooth and their guava was a bit chunky.
There is a promo on Doordash currently - 45% off orders $15+! Amazing deal! Got the Scallion Pancake Chicken Wrap Supreme ($14.50) was pretty good. It consisted of a house made scallion pancake with chicken tender, egg, cabbage, Thai basil, and cheese. It looked pretty small similar to a snack wrap but it was very filling. The chicken tender was similar to popcorn chicken. Wished it was more crispy since it seemed pretty dry and not much of a crunch. The pancake was a bit bland but I enjoyed that it wasn't as oily as scallion pancake usually is at other places. Overall, I felt like this was slightly overpriced but it was worth trying! The Black Sesame Matcha ($8.50) was amazing! I got it in large so that was extra $1. Requested it with regular ice, half sweet, and oat milk and really enjoyed that it wasn't packed with ice and not overly sweet. It's nice that they don't charge extra for milk substitutions! The matcha tasted very rich in flavor and I could tell they most likely use ceremonial quality matcha. The sesame was very nutty and really enjoyed that they make it in-house. This was definitely one of my favorite drinks! NOTE: it's very important to give it a good stir prior to drinking otherwise the sesame just sinks on the bottom! The Lychee Pear Blossom ($8) was so good! I got it half sweet with regular ice and it was just the right amount of sweetness and ice! Loved how they use fresh lychee and pear with no artificial colors or flavor! This drink was very refreshing and fruity! The green tea wasn't too overpowering and made the drink even more enjoyable! Overall, I really enjoyed my drinks and the wrap was ok. The prices are slightly higher than other cafes but it's nice that they use real fruits without any artificial flavors or colors unlike many other places!
I always like bopomofo. They have a great variety of drinks and my favorite is the black sesame. They also have corn milk, which is not very common. Tonight they're having a 62626 event with complementary California rolls from Yama sushi some Dubai chocolate and delicious ice cream from 626. Come by and enjoy the mah jong tables outside too
I really liked this spot! I was craving popcorn chicken, and this place did not disappoint. Even though it was pricey, for $13 you get a lot of popcorn chicken, enough that it can be shared between two people if you wanted. I also got the Black Sesame Matcha and modified the sweetness. It was perfect! The service was quick, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My only thing is that the prices seemed a bit steep/expensive, but the quality was really good.
So, I appreciate that they made sure my shrimp burger had no onions since I'm allergic to them. But unfortunately, it needed more flavor and sauce. I was so disappointed because I've had it multiple times before and it was delicious. It seemed like an off day in general when I went on March 21st because the drinks also weren't up to their usual standards. The pear lychee tea didn't have lychee flavor. Great pear and jasmine flavor though. And the orange wang was strangely bitter! I've had it before and it wasn't like that! Good tater tots though, fresh and crispy. Service was friendly as always. Bummer that things weren't as great as usual. Hoping next time I visit it's good.
4 years later, and Bopomofo is probably my favorite boba and tea spot! Mainly because they now offer seating and are not exclusively to-go. I like to come here with my laptop, tablet, and journal to "lock in," and I often get a lot done. I'm currently writing this on a Wednesday afternoon (around 2:45 PM) in June, and it is not busy at all. Some people are sitting and working on their computers, but the parking lot is pretty much empty. Probably the emptiest I've seen it (and it gets very very busy). The wifi wasn't working when I arrived. My devices were connecting to the network, but nothing was loading, and I kept getting those "Check your connection" messages. There was a male staff member checking in on everyone, so I asked about the wifi. He checked and said they restarted the router, and shortly, I was able to connect and be online! So thank you :) Drinks are still unique. Every once in a while, there are special deals and discounts and seasonal drinks of course. I'm glad to see they made the black sesame matcha a permanent addition to the menu, because it often sold out quickly during spooky season. Still recommend Bopomofo. I haven't been to any of their other locations, but it's nice to see them expand. Congrats btw! I hope they come out with a rewards loyalty program tho.

I went to Bopomofo Cafe in San Gabriel recently. I got the Brown Sugar Pudding Milk Tea. It was a bit too sweet for me. Also, the pudding felt oddly placed in it. The brown sugar boba added to the drink was okay. I thought also the drink is a bit pricey.
I've always wanted to try their bopo bowls because it was such an interesting concept. I got the pork belly one and it was quite interesting when I first tried but after a few bites I ended up enjoying it. Then we also had my 2 favorites. The popcorn chicken and the mapo tots. So good!! Stopped by Bopomofo on the way back home to the bay area- and got the bala matcha and dirty matcha. The drinks were so refreshing!! before getting our drinks, staff hand delivered about food, and were so welcoming and nice! For the scallion pancake, I do think it was missing some basil or garlic sauce in the wrap. For mapo tofu, it was well seasoned, and the tots were very crispy!!! Bopomofo consistently cranks out some of the best boba in the LA county area, and on top of that, has an awesome rotating seasonal menu of food items from boba shop classics like popcorn chicken, to sleeper hits like the nori fish sandwich. The cafe itself is a great place to hang out or work in -- there's free wifi, it's consistently clean, parking is free and plentiful, and the service is great (they'll even remake your drink if it's not up to par). Here's what I ordered (and my go-to order recently): Orange Wang ($8) = $6.25 (base drink) + $1(upgrade to large) + $.75(add boba): Their take on Orange Bang. Like a melted orange creamsicle at it's best -- creamy, slightly tart, and best served cold. Nori Fish Sandwich ($13): Light, crispy, flaky cod nestled between a sweet brioche bun. Bopomofo Cafe continues to impress. The bBack sSsame Latte was super creamy, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet--deeply nutty and comforting, almost like sipping tong sui in latte form. The Nori Fish Sandwich completely surprised me. It was light, piping hot, crispy without being oily, and incredibly satisfying--even for someone who usually avoids seafood. Major win. And the Honey Butter Tots? Absolutely addictive. Perfectly crispy tots coated in a flavor profile reminiscent of walnut shrimp, but with a subtle spicy kick that keeps you going back for more. I received a message from the management after posting my review about the bitter jasmine tea I ordered at Bopomofo Café. At first, I was honestly worried and thought, "Are they trying to challenge my review?" I usually leave positive reviews, but once I wrote an honest review after being served a completely cold hamburger at another restaurant in Pasadena, and that restaurant filed a complaint that resulted in my review being removed. I finally got their honey walnut shrimp, and it was SO GOOD. The bun was nice and soft. It almost tasted like a Hawaiian roll hamburger bun hybrid! The patty was packed with shrimp - you take a bite of it and can see all shrimp pieces. Walnut gave it a nice crunch. Everything was perfect. I'll be dreaming of the next time I can get it again The matcha Jin Xian oolong is good. I regret getting 0% sugar (trying to be a little healthy). I think with either 25-50% would've been better since the oolong has a slight bitter after taste. I got the egg pudding with it thinking it'd help add some sweetness, but it doesn't really have a taste (the taste of matcha oolong is stronger so makes sense). Bopomofo is such a cute café with a really welcoming and cozy ambiance. The interior has a clean, modern vibe that makes it a great place to hang out, study, or catch up with friends. It's in a convenient location, but be prepared--the parking lot can get crowded and a bit difficult to navigate during busy hours. The servers were nice and helpful. The drinks did take a while to come out though. I tried the Hojicha latte and absolutely loved it. The roasted flavor was rich and smooth, and it had a perfect balance without being too sweet. Definitely one of the best Hojicha lattes I've had! Overall, a great spot with delicious drinks--just factor in a little extra time for parking. read more

2.5 Yelp Stars*** Came to Bopomofo Cafe over seven years ago when they were still pretty new. I remember trying a boba fruit tea then and it was ok. Fast forward to now, this cafe had been here for years and heard they were about to open a second location at Downtown Disney. I also heard the walnut shrimp burger and the mapo tofu tater tots were good or were recommended from several people. My family and I decided to add this place as our final stop before heading back to the Bay Area. Big regrets! My husband pre-ordered the walnut shrimp burger combo with the mapo tofu tater tots ahead of time with several drinks. We thought if we ordered at least 20mins ahead of time and got here, we would not have to wait as long. Nope, there was still a wait! After we got our food, we decided to try them in the car. The initial taste of the honey walnut shrimp burger tasted familiar, but it was honestly very plain. Not sure why this was even a suggestion. There was barely any sauce inside the burger. Our toddlers did not like it either. The mapo tofu tater tots were nasty! My husband and I grew up eating mapo tofu and agreed this was nothing close to the authentic taste. It was by far, one of the worst mapo tofu we tried! Absolutely disappointing! The boba drinks were not good either! We ordered four drinks which included a milk tea, a sesame milk tea, a corn drink, and a popular fruit tea. Honestly, the drinks were so bad I did not bother to remember them for my review. The boba tasted like what college town boba used to taste like 20 years ago when boba was still new and not trendy. It was terrible! We ended up tossing some of the drinks away. So surprised Bopomofo Cafe was able to stay in competition with so many other boba spots in the San Gabriel vicinity and receive such high ratings! We would not be returning as there were tons of delicious cafes and boba drinks to try in San Gabriel. However, the menu was very creative and the workers seemed to be friendly. Place was packed when we went and most of the customers looked like they just finished college or were in college. Prices were slightly cheaper than other boba shops. It was kind of loud inside too. We were greeted by the cashier and he was super kind! They've come out with a lot of new drinks since my first time here. I have been returning more recently because I found a new love for their mapo tofu tots. It is definitely my favorite of the whole menu! Their tea is also refreshing and it's pleasant to know that it's not full of just syrups. The inside is a perfect size with lots of seating but hard to find because it was crowded (on a saturday). Everytime I'm around the area, I make sure to go to BopoMofo. They have such unique drinks that more than meet your expectations with amazing popcorn chicken. I've been to a few more locations and you can tell their quality is consistent everywhere. I tried the Blueberry Matcha with OatMilk and boba and it was absolutely delicious. It was not too sweet and super balanced. Of course, I also ordered the Spicy Popcorn Chicken with extra Thai Chili Aiolo sauce. Keep in mind when ordering they'll ask your preference on if you'd prefer white or dark meat for the chicken. Bopomofo is quickly becoming one of my favorite boba spots! read more

There's definitely things to work out, I don't think this cafe is at it's full potential. Service is great, super friendly. I've been here a few times and tried few different things. Negatives : Both times the tea I had tastes funky. Not necessarily too sweet but like the fruit is not fresh. Very expensive. For a full meal for me I got a tea + beef noodle sandwich+ chicken tacos+ popcorn chicken for a snack and the total was over $50. The sandwich was small for an average person they'd probably get an entree and a small plate A bit of a wait. If you have an hour for lunch I would recommend calling ahead Positives : I can't argue that the tacos are amazing (probably the best small dish I've had in SGV) it brings this place up from 2 to 4 star for me personally The small plates taste better than the main dishes I wish you well, I think realistically it's 3.5 stars but 3 stars looks too harsh in reviews read more
I came here specifically to try their new seasonal triple strawberry matcha latte, and it did not disappoint! It's made with real strawberry purée on the bottom and topped with strawberry cold foam. I highly recommend it! You can really taste the fresh strawberries, nothing artificial about it at all. The matcha itself was strong and the strawberries didn't overpower it. The drink was creamy and the cold foam and puree blends together for the perfect latte. I visited on a Saturday evening, and it was pretty quiet inside. It's perfect if you're looking to get some work done or just hang out. It was a little warm inside, but still comfortable overall. Staff were friendly and informative. Ordered through door dash- so the popcorn chicken wasn't as crunchy anymore. My kid thought their regular mild popcorn chicken was too spicy. I ordered the spicy chicken plate and loved it. Although the chicken wasn't too crunchy, it was tender and had so much flavor. I didn't order a drink this time but I haven't gone wrong with their jasmine milk tea. We make it a point to visit Bopomofo Cafe every time we're in town. It's one of our must-stop spots! I ordered the jasmine milk tea with boba, and it did not disappoint. The boba was perfectly chewy, and the tea itself was smooth and flavorful. My husband got his favorite drink, the "Orange Wang," which he always enjoys. This time, we decided to try more of the food, and everything was surprisingly good. We especially love the popcorn chicken. It's always perfectly crispy and satisfying. The honey walnut shrimp burger was also a standout, with a delicious sauce and a flavorful shrimp patty. It does get pretty busy, especially during Friday lunchtime, and finding parking can definitely be a challenge but honestly, it's worth the effort every time. read more

Been here twice within the last 5 years but all I can say is that they are consistent! I really appreciate the consistent quality of drinks because I have not had a bad one yet! I tried watermelon tea and my friend got the hojicha, and a few years back I got the seasame drink. All the drinks were BOMB. The watermelon was perfectly sweet and when I asked the staff how sweet they recommend they said 70% and if it was not sweet enough they could adjust for me. Deeply appreciated! The hojicha was SO good and for the price of around $5 for a pretty big drink (larger than what we see at other matcha cafes) it was so worth it. A sub with oat milk was free which is a STEAL. Also ordered the popcorn chicken which was so juicy and crispy. You have a choice to choose between dark meat and white meat (+1). It came with a green sauce that was creamy and savory. Will be my go to place if ever craving a hojicha! read more

715pm, Friday, August 1, 2025 Location: strip mall shopping center. Parking a plenty. I got a spot. Or should I say enough spaces, lol. There's outdoor seating, several picnic table style benches. The square table and patio concrete are filthy though. I noticed a posted sign that says the shop closes at 9 pm. Yelp needs to edit the closing hours. It didn't look too busy inside. But it picked up a bit with some overflowing out the door which ended pretty quickly. Meet my date here at 730 pm. We stayed, grabbed a table inside and chatted until closing at 9 pm. There was music playing inside, a bit loud and couldn't hear date's conversation. Our cashier was great, very knowledgeable until I asked her about sweetener options besides sugar. I educated her about Monk fruit and stevia which I prefer but they had neither. So I ordered a large matcha soda, no sweetener. Ohh, is it strong. It's not weak as one reviewer remarked. Next time I'll try the latte version. My date liked her Strawberry Corn Milk. Did not try any food. Thanks Bopomofo for being great hosts. See you next time. read more

Alright Bopo, you have redeemed yourself. After coming here on many trips and failing to get a drink I like, I finally found one. The Hey Sesame is some of the best sesame drink I have had. It's somehow a good blend of sweet but also not so sweet. It has a good sesame fragrance. I was a little skeptical it would be watered down with the oat milk but it was just perfect. This will be the only drink I get. I can enjoy it as a large and not be tortured on the toilet. The food is always good here so that won't change. It can take a while for food and drinks to come out because they're so busy. They don't have AC I think so with the crowd, it can actually feel really hot even with the fans on. read more

A stable of the SGV community, always one of my go-to cafe spots for a quality drink. Bopomofo can get busy which affects parking because of popular spots in the same plaza but it shouldn't be too difficult to find parking on street. Staff is always friendly and preps the order pretty quickly. Space is limited inside but there are some seating (benches) outside to accommodate. My go-to here is always the "Orange Wang." A drink that I would recommend to all that enjoy vanilla milk type drinks. The orange flavor over the top mixes really well with the taste of the drink and is super addicting. Cups are well designed with a good cap sealer, not easily spilled and easy to hold. I also have their reusable stainless steel straw set that is really useful not only for bopomofo but for all other drinks. read more

I have tried their guava jin zuan oolong, mint matcha, and ba la matcha and the chicken sandwich, spicy popcorn chicken, and tater tots. The food is seasoned well and perfectly crispy. Their drinks don't taste too artificial like some other fruity based drinks and retain a nice tea flavor. The space has limited seating but can be a nice place to work. Internet could be a bit of a struggle though once it gets busy/crowded. read more

Worker was really friendly! I ordered a mint matcha latte today and the cashier warned me the matcha would be strong bc I got it unsweetened. The matcha was indeed strong. The flavor profile of the matcha was more earthy, vegetal, mild bitterness. Not my favorite kind of matcha. If you are looking for umami or more depth in matcha this might not be for you. The ratio of matcha to milk felt off as a matcha drink though because it almost felt too dense in matcha. I did enjoy the mint matcha concept, just wish it was executed a bit better. read more

I ordered the Nori Fish Sandwich. $15 is little steep but the sandwich was so good that maybe it's justified. The fish quality was pretty good, it wasn't dry but still flaky and wasn't fishy. The fish was perfectly crispy and the sauce with the red onions paired nicely. It definitely tastes like an elevated filet o fish from mcdonald's without tasting too different. The service was also really good, the server brought my food to my table and even offered to get me water despite it being self serve. read more

This is my second time here and it's always so crowded! I known about Wong Fu Productions since high school so to see their expansion into food was exciting! The food and drink is always so delicious here, I love the Asian twist on their food menu, I realllyyy like the honey walnut shrimp burger I got this time! The drink was refreshing! But no AC inside (not sure if it broke) and please put umbrellas up on the outdoor patio seating, people were eating outside under the sun and going back and forth to the shaded area to just get some shade. It's very hot and they don't have AC. Or it doesn't feel like they do. There's a fan for the staff members but none for the guests. Other customers are swearing bullets or fanning themselves. It would have been nice to know an eta given there didn't seem like there was a line upon arrival but my drink took over 25 min in the sweltering heat. Bopomofo has interesting drink flavors and overall good ingredients but something doesn't make me craving to come back regularly as my "go to" drink spot. It's worth a try when there is better weather because otherwise prepare to suffer. read more
Stopped by Bopomofo today while in the 626 area, looking for a combo of good food and drinks. They had a Spring Secret Menu going, so we tried the Corn Matcha Latte and the Matcha Jin Xuan Oolong. We also ordered the Mapo Tofu Tater Tots and Popcorn Chicken. The café had a lively vibe, filled with people casually hanging out or studying. The drinks came out quickly before the food, as the staff had mentioned. The Matcha Jin Xuan Oolong was super refreshing with a strong tea flavor. The Corn Matcha Latte had a natural corn flavor, which I liked, but overall I found myself wanting both drinks to be just a bit sweeter. The food arrived freshly made after a few minutes. The tater tots were perfectly crispy, and the addition of Mapo tofu was flavorful. The Popcorn Chicken with the green sauce was a nice touch. While I haven't found my go-to drink here yet, I'd definitely return to explore more of the menu--and for the food! read more

When bopomofo first opened I came and tried the drinks and food but felt that the drinks weren't anything special. I was also comparing it to other boba drinks in the area, but now that I've tried it again I feel that the quality of ingredients they provide as well as the price point makes it a really good value. Today i tried the weekday deal and opted for spicy dark popcorn chicken and a jasmine milk tea which ended up being $15.49 plus tax. I think their spicy popcorn chicken is the best around the area, it's super flavorful and the dipping sauce is unique and yummy too. The spice is good but the crisp is lacking. I really wish it were more crispy! I've also tried their lychee pear drink which I think is soooo yummy. I really wanna try the strawberry matcha next time! the staff were also very nice and friendly, he suggested the jasmine milk tea since I wasn't sure which one to try, and it had a perfect floral aroma. Unique food and drinks! Honey walnut shrimp burger was tasty and love the mini pieces of walnut inside. Popcorn chicken with dark meat was juicy but wished it was a bit more crispy. Has a good amount of spice to it. Mapo tofu with tater tots is an interesting concept. The Orange wang tasted like a creamy orange juice but too similar to plain orange juice. The hojicha latte has good strong hojicha. Indoor and outdoor seating areas but limited seatings inside. Helpful staff and were able to make recs. Would come back for the popcorn chicken. read more
I'm not sure what the hype is around Bopomofo Cafe, but it's not for me. I gave this place another try on 1/11/2025. I ordered the Jasmine Green Tea ($5.25) and seasonal LA Autumn ($7) with 50% sweetness for both. The LA Autumn was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I don't taste that their tea is strong and the fruit juice they use is not fresh from the fruit. For the price and size, I find that their drinks are pretty expensive. I have never tried their food, but I'm unlikely to do so since I won't be coming here for their drinks. read more

There website is always broken. You have to go there in person and order there. No work around.
Do they still have wifi even though they're takeout only?
They have their own wifi (BOPORESERVE) but I'm not sure if it's open to guests because it has a password.

no they don't have a phone number because of how busy it gets. terrible if u have to cancel an order, i had to drive all the way over there!
Are you no longer taking postmates orders? All of my orders in two days on separate occasions keep getting cancelled.
There's no way to order in person so I think that may be why your orders are being cancelled.
