If you are undecided - get this! It was tender and full of flavor, I couldn't stop eating it when I was full. Absolutely wonderful first time visit! From the time we walked in the door, sat down, got our wine and food we spoke to several people passing by. Everyone was so amazingly kind and willing to chat. Our waitress Bianca is only visiting from Dr Phillips to help open tonight, but we wish she would be here full time! So full of information and recommendations. D in the bar, such a great personality, always keeping it moving but so fun! Just a great personality! We have loved this location since opening but above and beyond I have to rave about last night. From beginning to end the service and food was amazing. Specifically our server Samuel though, amazing attitude and so patient. If I could leave a zero I would. The only part of our dinner that was good was the cocktails. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:15 and ordered our cocktails. They were delicious. After chatting with our friends for 40+minutes, we finally were able to order our bread and dips which took 30 minutes to arrive and then we ordered our entrees. Our meals came an hour later and were cold and dry. We talked to the manager and she took our meals back to the kitchen to be remade, saying they would come back in 5 minutes. They did, which was suspicious. How did the first meals sit in the kitchen for over an hour, and suddenly they were able to make 3 whole new meals in 5 minutes? Nobody else around us was eating either. The second round of food was at least warmer, but the chicken shish I ordered was still dry. The ladies room was filthy with TP all over the floor and a staff member was using it and as she left, was texting on her phone and didn't tell my friend there was no more TP as she went in. At the very least she should have warned my friend, but as a staff member, should have monitored the bathroom and cleaned it or reported it to someone to clean it. After being in the restaurant for over 3 hours, the manager apologized but was hesitant to do anything about it. After some negotiations, she made it right. We will not go back to this location. The Bophorous in Winter Park is a brilliant place with lovely staff and great food. The Winter Garden location is dreadful. read more

We finally got to give Bosphorous a try. I easily made reservations online and we were seated pretty quickly upon arrival on a busy Friday evening. We were pleasantly surprised that happy hour is apparently until 7 p.m., so our 6:30 reservation fit nicely. Had we known, we might have made the reservation for 6:00 instead, so as to enjoy two drinks at half-price instead. Anyway, I tried the the Turkish Peach Martini. It was delicious and peachy. To start, we ordered an appetizer of Lavas (hollow bread), which was basically a giant steaming pita. We also ordered humus (their spelling of hummus) and babaganoush to dip the bread in, both of which were extra. All of them were delicious, and the babaganoush was especially delicious and smoky-tasting. For dinner, I ordered the Special Beyti Kebap. Our server told me it was the spiciest item on menu. Ha! Go figure. I do love spicy stuff. It's like I can sniff it out. It turned out to be like a sushi roll/burrito combination, but Turkish-style. It was very tasty (and spicy, of course!). It came with a flavored rice as well, that was moist, not dry and sticky. My only disappointment with the restaurant is how extremely loud it is inside. The acoustics are disappointing. It really made dinner conversation impossible with friends we hadn't seen in awhile. I'm not sure if it was the particular location or room we were in, but next time maybe we'll try a table outside. When we left, we exited past the outdoor seating, and it was SO much quieter. So, two tips I learned: arrive early for Happy Hour and sit outside where you can have a conversation (at least until they can figure out what to do inside to help with the sound level). read more

Arrived 15 minutes later and was told by hostess that without a reservation would have to wait a while or try the bar. Alrighty then, proceeded to the bar. Drinks were good, but the apps we ordered were doubled in quantity for some reason. Was asked by service if that was ok, uh ok, I guess? And it just went downhill from there, dinner arrived an hour and half later. What's the reason? No good one apparently, someone just dropped the ball. Not really customer-centric place. Had to downgrade my review by one point due to a recent poor experience here. Last weekend we had dinner here and I ordered my favorite fried liver. Different than last time, I was surprised to get a blob of onions, literally piled up on the plate and only 9 pieces of liver (yes, I couldn't resist not to count them). If the chef changed or that night the service lowered because unforeseen reasons, I would urge management to look into it and address it. UPDATE: we have returned a couple of times and enjoy it every time. One thing I wanted to mention is the lava bread which is fabulous. Our favorite dip is the Cacik (pronounced Ja-Jik). It's a light cucumber yogurt dip with garlic, dill and mint. For our first time trying Turkish cuisine, there is no better place to have done so than at this new location. The decor is beautiful. First off, we were seated by a young hostess named Summer. She pointed out some of her favorites on the menu and shared the history of the business. She even pointed out how the lamps were made in Turkey. Our server, Ally, was exceptionally engaging and steered us right the entire meal. We started with the lavas bread with the mixed appetizer platter. Wow!! She then suggested the chicken sauté with cream sauce topped with feta cheese. The sauce is outstanding and a Star in its own right but Ally asked if I'd like grilled jalapeño to add some heat. My eyes lit up and she quickly returned with two perfectly grilled jalapeños. Holy smokes what an amazing meal. We wrapped it up with pistachio gelato and hazelnut baklava. Ally was attentive and made our visit even more pleasurable. As far as us we had the lavas(lavash) with Humus and something else..big rave there !! That's a must huge,hot and fresh!! I had the Doner kebap and wife had sea bass ...both tasted great and now we know why everyone leaves with to go boxes!! They give you huge portions ! We are so excited to have such a wonderful restaurant so close to home! The restaurant is beautiful and the outside patio area is even better complete with plenty of seating. We can't wait for the weather to get cooler so that we can enjoy it even more during happy hour. Speaking of happy hour, they have a pretty good happy hour drink special. We have been here several times for happy hour and food, each time ordering something different. I made the mistake of ordering a bunch of meatless items initially for my meat-loving hubby. I couldn't help it there were things I wanted to try and the hummus is of course awesome. This time around, I made sure to order items containing meat. We stopped in kind of late so we opted for a few apps vs. entrees. The bartenders are so personable and you can tell they really enjoy what they do. Our food and drinks were delicious. Went on a lunch date on Saturday. Not very busy. Love their music and vibe. We sat inside and server was quite prompt in getting menus and taking our order. We tried the lamb shanks from lunch menu and speciality lamb dish from dinner menu which they didn't hAve on lunch menu so portion size was a little bigger. Both Dishes were nice and presented well. Lamb shanks was cooked really well like the meat fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. The speciality lamb dish said it was spicy but I was disappointed as there wasn't much spice at all and the tomato sauce that they poured on the rice and all over the pita kebab was not very tasty. W e have been to the location in Winter Park and were excited to try another location because we were working in that area. The Lavas as always was amazing but doughier here than Winter Park. We got 2 dips which were good. We ordered the calamari which was chewy and slightly fishy. They were kind enough and took it back. The manager came over and said he was surprised it was fishy because they soak it for 24 hours. I don't know but it was rubbery and fishy. We got falafel instead which was good. Service was good. There was a new server training who was excited and knowledgeable. I think we'll go back to Winter Park before we go back to this location. The decor and ambience here is top notch. And unlike the original Winter Park location, the service is great. The food is consistently good and the same as all the other Bosphorous locations. The lavash comes to you piping hot and inflated like an angry puffer fish. I especially enjoy the moussaka even though I have never received any consensus on how to pronounce it. I almost feel guilty because I was too hungry to snap photos of my entrees but don't let that deter you from the rest of this review because it's worth it. ~Location~ I love the bosphorous in this location because I've never found it too busy to the extent that some of their other locations are so it's perfect to go on a whim. ~Appetizers~ I always, always, get the lavas when I come here and I HIGHLY suggest you do the same. The lavas is a this soft fluffy bread that comes inflated and perfect for dipping in hummus. The hummus is good as well, although nothing outstanding. PSA: Keep some of the lavas aside to eat with the rest of your meal. ~Food~ I've made it a point to get the mixed grill platter when I come here solely because it's the best way to try a little bit of everything and split it between a group of people. The menu will say its a mixed platter for two but barring a ravenous appetite, I split it 3 ways and still had leftovers to take home. It has a variety of chicken and lamb and comes with rice, a cucumber yogurt dip (so yummy) and pickled vegetables (which I am obsessed with). ~Dessert~ I was pleasantly surprised at how many mouthwatering dessert options there were (chocolate baklava, pistachio gelato !) but I went with a more traditional option and tried their kunefe. If you haven't had it before, it's this sweet baked pastry dish made with phyllo dough, cheese and drizzled with a glaze on top. It's $9 for a decently sized portion. I enjoyed it but found I could only take a few bites as it was super sweet. Good thing is, it's easy to take home, reheat and enjoy the next day. ~Service~ Their service was great. I overhead a waiter at another table going into great depth about their unfamiliar options such as turkish tea, turkish coffee and other dishes so if Turkish cuisine is something you're not used to or even if it's your first time here, I think their staff is very knowledgable and do a great job of explaining the menu. On a recent visit we had a very good experience. It was a late lunch on a Saturday but they were busy. We were seated promptly and they took our order after a lot of questions about the menu were answered. We started with the lavas (bread) and we're pleased when it arrived warm out of the oven. We had humus which was fresh and tasty with a great balance of lemon to garlic. We also shared the cold cucumber dip and it was excellent with fresh dill. For lunch I ordered the babaganoush. The eggplant was so delicious and just smoky enough. My friend ordered the Mousakka and said it was one of the best she'd had. The only disappointment was that we could not order the sigara boregi as it was not available. All and all it was a good visit in an authentic environment with good service. read more

Their portion easily fed 2 people who weren't big eaters, and still had extra to take home. We showed up at 5:30 and we're seated right away. Or server asked if we were familiar with the menu and explained almost all of the dishes to us. We really appreciated it. The vehicles were perfectly cooked and the tomato flavor was excellent. The wife had the chicken Adana Kebap which is grounds chicken and spices formed in a roll and char grilled. Both were great! The only thing we had that I did not care for was the fried zucchini patties. Meh My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. I'm new to the area and was recommended this restaurant by our realtor. I went on a Friday night at 730 with a reservation, and it was a fantastic time!! The inside of this restaurant is lovely, and they have a nice outdoor area as well with a fire pit. My drink was fantastic (I had the Mule); however, I personally did not care for the wine sampler. With that said, it's a great choice for someone like me who has no experience drinking wine! The mixed appetizer and mixed grill was very well done. After tremendously enjoying the Bosphorous in Winter Park, I just had to come to this location and try it out. The building itself is large and open to the outdoor patio. It feels more spacious than the Winter Park location. Our waitresses name was Alex and she was friendly and very accommodating - she gave us amazing service the whole meal. We ordered the fried zucchini cakes to start, and they were served with a delicious creamy dipping sauce. It was happy hour (1/2 off drinks) and I ordered a blueberry mojito - it was sweeter than expected but I'm glad to have tried it. For my main I ordered the chicken patties and they were good. I found the rice to be lacking any flavor at all, which was severely different from the rice at the Winter Park location. My husband ordered the chicken Adana and that was very tasty, I preferred his chicken over mine, but both were good. Location is beautiful, great patio, and very clean. read more

We had a native from Turkey, craving good Turkish food. So we dropped in on a Sat night, without a reservation, bad idea. We had to wait about 45 min. Not bad, but definitely get a reservation. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the decorations are beautiful. The food choices were limited but we all found something to try. I don't know much about Turkish food, other than I love it. My friend informed me that many of the dishes were served wrong and some of the flavors were missing. We asked our fabulous waiter if the owner was Turkish and we were informed he was not. He is Jewish. My friend was hoping to speak to someone from Turkey and there was no one in the restaurant that night. So maybe this restaurant should be called Turkish inspired, because having a representative of true Turkish food, we found it totally lacking. read more

We'd eat here far more if it weren't quite as pricey, but we are the first to say it is worth every penny though, just definitely up there. This was my first time having Turkish cuisine and I was blown away by all of the delicious choices, the interior of the space and the welcoming service. We had Kat Marie as our server and she went through the menu with us, recommended her favorites, and guided us through to help make our selections as we wanted everything! We started with the Lavas & Mixed Appetizer. You have to get Lavas as it's a famous Turkish puffed flatbread. We had the Karisik Meze (mixed appetizer) which is a combination of Humus, Babaganoush, Sautéed Eggplant, Muhammara, Ezme, Tarama, Haydari and Zetinyagli Yaprak Dolma. Our favorites out of the dips were the Babaganoush, Muhammara & Haydari. Since the appetizer was so filling, we decided to split the entree, Lamb Shank. We went during lunch time so we were able to get the Lamb Shank special pricing. The meat so tender that it fell right off the bone. We ended our meals with Turkish Coffee & Tea.
