I needed some breakfast before my 9am flight and knew I loved the Boss Bagel (San Antonio location) I tried a few months ago. This airport location has those delicious bagels but underwhelming sandwich parts. I got the sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese. The bacon was really fatty and not cooked well and the egg (I got scrambled) was over cooked with lots of browning on it. I ended up deconstructing and ate the bagel by itself. Next time, I'll save myself the $$ and just get a toasted bagel with smear. Service was good and the food came out quick (maybe that was the problem). read more

Hospital cafeteria and airport food are two of the worst types of food one can ever eat. This place was open at 5:00 in the morning on Saturday during a pandemic; hence the extremely generous four-star review. You cannot and should not really judge airport food on a normal scale. It's mainly about convenience. I got the Slammin salmon sandwich which is their take on a nova lox type bagel sandwich. It typically comes with hard boiled eggs (what?!), but I asked him to hold that. Underwhelming by all accounts. But again, I am happy that I was able to have something to eat and drink before my several hour flight out. Luckily, I got there several minutes before it opened and started standing in line. Super rude employees! Dashun D was the cashier, I said hello to him when I walked up and he completely ignored me and walked away then comes back, didn't greet or ask what I'd like to order he just stood at the register looking at it ready to press a button. I assumed that meant I can place my order. I ordered my bagel and looking at the register said "name?" and gave me the receipt without looking up or telling me what the next step will be or thank you. Then the Philippino girl making the sandwiches looked super annoyed being there, she calls out my name and hands me the sandwich bag super dry and rude with no eye contact, no thank you. I don't know if it's this new generation of disrespectful people or if working here is that miserable but I would never go back here even if the bagel was good. read more

I've been glad to see that the San Antonio airport has included some more local and regional spots (rather than chains), and so I was excited to stop by and support Boss Bagel when I was looking for lunch in the San Antonio airport this past weekend. Unfortunately, by lunch they were sold out of a lot of bagel choices, and they definitely had more non-traditional cream cheese/schmear options that traditional ones (I'm a bit of a bagel purist and wanted more traditional options on the menu). My bagel was okay, but it definitely seemed like it was thrown together quickly (I had the Slammin Salmon - sesame bagel with shaved red onion, capers, sliced tomatoes, and lemon dill schmear - minus the hard boiled eggs) - there was a crazy amount of capers on the bagel (I felt bad for my rowmates on the plane when I opened that bagel foil up!). And the lemon dill schmear didn't taste of anything really. But bonus points for having vegan options (tofu cream cheese) and for having great customer service (even though there was a bit of a line, everyone was really friendly and fun). Not the worst meal you can have in the airport, but nothing I'd tell people they have to have when they visit the San Antonio airport. read more

I was traveling from San Antonio on September 18, 2022 when my sister and I stopped by the restaurant to grab a drink. We bought two caramel lattes. They were closing early since they had run out of bagels so we were the last ones there. I was charged $15.83 which was approved by my bank. It even shows on my bank statement that it was paid to them and I have the receipt as proof. Ever since then, they have attempted to charge my card $15.83 multiple times. I'm at the point where I'm about to just cancel my card and get another one. The coffee wasn't even that good in the first place. Stay away from this place. read more

I frequent the Alamo Heights location of Boss Bagel - so I really do love their bagels. I've been to this airport location twice now, both disappointing experiences. 1 - Mid-afternoon on a Monday- out of salmon and turkey - out of cucumbers. This really doesn't leave you with a lot of options. 2 - Sunday morning, 5:30 am - out of salmon, broken espresso machine taking five minutes to poor an americano. QR code on the wall to pre-order fails and simply isn't working. I hope they turn this place around. It feels like they're not showing it enough love or simply haven't been able to figure out how to run an airport restaurant. Boss bagels are the best, but this location will get in their way of showing that to their customers, which is really unfortunate. read more

It's not 'home' but i also enjoyed it. lol. I've actually thrown away things claiming to be bagels rather than eat anymore of it. These are surprisingly good. Really 2.5 stars I guess for presentation and smells credit and friendliness/ speed of service. Got a onion and bacon bagel with a lime jalapeño schmear am of 4/11/22. Disappointing. The bagel had little flavor of onion or bacon and was much more bread like than bagel like. Very dense crumb. Not chewy but cakey. Cream cheese did not seem like cream cheese but more of a thinner smooth vegetable oil type spread. Didn't taste of milk or dairy. A small amount of lime flavor and little to no discernible jalapeño flavor. No spice. Cappuccino was good enough but not hot enough. Prices about what you would expect for airport. $10 for a bagel w schmear and cappuccino. I have yet to beat Chicago bagel in San Antonio. read more

If you are a bagel lover: give these guys a HARD PASS. Over the years I have really wanted to like BOSS bagels. The vibe of the company is fun, the bagels LOOK, good, and as someone who hails from the east coast who is desperate for a good Bagel in Texas--I want nothing more than to find a place in SA that has a good Everything Bagel---but BOSS bagels are nothing more than all-round disappointment. I've tried the in town-location, AND the airport location (both more than once)-in the hopes that perhaps I came on a bad day. I've tried arriving early-in the hopes the bagels would be more 'fresh'. But no-if nothing more-BOSS is consistently a hard hockey-puck-in-the-mouth let down. There's nothing better than a good everything bagel--but BOSS bagels are dry, pasty, banal and soulless. If you enjoy dry dense chalky hard to swallow bread-these bagels are for you. But if you know and love bagels-don't waste your money or your hope---the bagels are a let down. And bagels can be done right in Texas-as Austin has good bagels-San Antonio-not so much. read more

Don't underestimate this place based on the reviews seen on here. My husband and I were flying out and needed something to eat for breakfast. I ordered a blueberry bagel with strawberry schmear & my husband ordered the classic bagel sandwich. It's a bit pricey but worth the $ because the bagels are pretty big. My Slammin Salmon was not cut in half all the way and had everything spilling out the sides so I showed the manager & asked for a remake. I live near the main Boss Bagels location (which I love) and these do not seem like the same bagels. Bagels are much smaller, have a much breadier texture, and generally taste like something you would buy at the grocery store. They are okay in a pinch, but if you expect the full Boss Bagel experience you will be disappointed. read more

A bagel at 6:30 in the morning should be soft with a chewy exterior. These bagels were extremely dry and the cream cheese schmear was barely recognizable. This is not an Essa bagel (NYC) or Bongiornos bagel (Gilbert AZ). Those joints have legit NYC bagels. My bagel was so hard and dry I had to buy a bottle of water just to choke it down. Disappointed. Terrible customer service I should've checked the other reviews Tried to order a chai latte with oatmilk and they were out of chai which is fine. So I ordered an iced latte and even added an extra flavor because I didn't want to pay $7 for coffee and milk... They didnt add oatmilk to my order and when I double checked at the counter to pick my drink up they didn't give me any other options and just said "no ma'am sorry" I paid like $8 for nothing... and tip... soo don't go to this location if you need coffee before a flight !!! i'm fine tipping them but to not get any other option after paying for a whole drink that wasn't even made initially how I wanted... no accommodation ... sorry to the person that has to throw the trash out later there's a whole drink in there lol read more

This place seems to run out of the most popular bagels too early in the AM. When I pointed this out to the employee, he simply said they make one batch first thing and that's it. Maybe make a lot less of the unpopular ones, and more of the other ones. It makes you lose customers in the spot read more

I'm an avid fan of the original store. The triple play is my favorite. I was flying out and was excited to stop by the airport location. I was hesitant when I saw the reviews and that they were reheating the sausage, bacon, egg, etc. NOT DISAPPOINTED!! In fact, it was just as good as the main restaurant. I came to this place due to me having enough time to eat and chill before my flight. I read the reviews and wasnt surprised everyone had mixed reviews, no problem, I said Ill try it for myself, wrong, I should have took heed to the reviews. I waited in line for about 12minutes. Im like this has to be good the line is never short even after I got my order. I guess that didnt mean anything. While waiting in line 1 of the workers was doing tasks and 1 that stuck out was that he touched the garbage can with his gloves on. In my head im like he will change them, nope he went right ahead and touched bagels, scratched his ear and face. It was now my turn, I informed the cashier, he said something to him but he NEVER changed his gloves, yuck. I also ordered a hot tea, the guy poured the hot water then went to open my tea bag to place in the water, I informed him I would put my own unopened tea bag in the water, no1 likes to change gloves around there. I can say that the young lady that made my sandwich followed thru. Ok, I ordered bacon, egg ,and cheese, on a eg bagel, little to no bacon, little to no egg and lots of cheese, the bagel is what makes the sandwich so huge not the contents inside, I ended up not finishing my sandwich. My tea didn't stay hot, I wanted it made when my food came out but they made it before the sandwich got started, the sandwich took an estimated 8minutes to be completed.
