Wow! Everything about the hotel was perfect - from the room, hospitality and food! Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

The harborwalk terrace at the Boston Harbor Hotel hosts live music every Thursday on a "Blues Barge" in the summer. It's a lovely spot on the harbor but the service is always terrible. The wait staff are from overseas and may have a language problem. We had a reservation for the second seating at 8:00 but had to wait to be seated. The drinks took 20 minutes. I think you get the picture. The food and drinks are good but pricey. It's really too bad because the venue is perfect. read more

This is an amazing hotel and the best we have ever stayed in on visits to Boston. We pulled the car up and valet was immediately at our door. He welcomed us and was amazing friendly. We have not always gotten this greeting from the valets, so this set the tone. We were greeted as we walked to the front desk, immediately checked in and offered baggage help. We opted to carry our own bags as we had very little for our one night stay. The room was beautiful. The windows spanned from top to bottom, and left to right of the area where the bed was. I worried about light in the morning, but they have high quality, light blocking shades. The sitting/desk area was a perfect place to put my purse and computer. There was more than enough space for clothes in the drawers. The bathroom was great. I would have preferred the new set up that a lot of hotels have, where the toilet is separate from the shower, but that isn't a deal breaker for me. Plenty of toiletries and even a sewing kit, ear swabs and other needed items. There is also a small refrigerator for leftovers, milk for the morning and drinks. 2 complimentary water bottles, as well as a cookie and milk were delivered while we went to dinner. The view was gorgeous. I watched an amazing sunset from the window and felt engulfed by it. I was lucky enough to wake up for sunrise and took some pictures that were to die for! My daughter was amazed at how far over the ocean she could see, and sat to watch the boats. She also watched a wedding and didn't move from her spot till it was over. The location could not be better. It is literally a block from the aquarium, with a 7/11 nearby for any last minute needs. It is a nice stroll down the street, or you can take the stroll by the water which is slightly longer but wonderfully scenic. Some good tips: Walk down the areas of grass and see the vendors in the area. even if you look, it is a nice walk. There is an outdoor fountain area for the kids one block down to run through, totally free. You can walk another 30 seconds and they can go on a merry go round for $2. You are very close to Quincy market and Fanuel hall. I am not someone who enjoys walking with my back, and these areas I did not mind walking too! We did decide to eat breakfast in the hotel, and although the food was good, the price tag of the buffet was expensive. I should have gone with my gut and walked across the street to Panera. I completely recommend this hotel. The staff went above and beyond, the rooms were wonderful, the location can't get better and we were completely satisfied. read more

This is a great hotel! It is right on the water, with incredible views of either the harbor or the city. We were celebrating a pretty excited event, of just getting in engaged and my fiancée mentioned it to them when we arrived/when he booked the room. The upgraded us to a suite which was amazing and huge! It had an amazing view of the harbor. Also in the room was champagne chocolate and covered strawberries! The bar is great. Can't really sit outside late night, they closed on the earlier side and I believe you have to order food. Also, it is walking distance, from the North End. read more

I'm a bit disappointed with my stay, fortunately I was a guest for a corporate event and therefor did not have to pay for my night. My review is based on the City View Superior Room, which is really just the economical option at the hotel. Yet at over $500 a night, I was expecting a bit more. There was no accessible ice machine. We were told to call for ice. There was no minibar. Not that I would have used it anyway, but some people would expect one. The hinge of one of the windows in the room was broken, so I was able to easily open it enough to walk out on the three foot wide ledge. I know not to walk out, but if there were kids or drunk people it may not be the safest situation. We wanted to grab a drink after we checked in, so we asked the front desk for a suggestion. The gentleman sent us to one of the bars at the hotel, yeah it wasn't open yet. Hmmmm... You'd think he would have known that. We decided to have a byob cocktail in the room instead, but the glasses that were in the room were small water glasses, only enough for a shot. So we called the front desk for cocktail glasses. 25 minutes later, they finally arrived. It was also a little awkward when we came into the room after dinner at almost 9:45 and there was the maid doing the turndown service. She forgot to put the sign on the door that says "housekeeping working". It was on our bathroom counter. There were no candies on the pillow either. The water pressure in the shower was terrible too. The food at the reception in the Wharf room was pretty tasty, so that was nice. There were probably around 300+ people, so the fact that my filet was done perfectly is impressive. The service was not so hot. I'm not sure if the really long amounts of time between courses was intentional to force people to mingle or if the kitchen couldn't keep up with the number of people. The servers kept filling the wine glasses when they got low, but they didn't ask if you wanted more or what kind of wine you were drinking, so if you weren't watching they would just dump the wrong wine in your glass and it would get all mixed up. It was also a little annoying when our server brought coffee to the table, ran out halfway through and forgot to come back to give the rest of the table coffee. After waiting for a bit, I just flagged down another server and the coffee came right away. While none of my complaints individually are a big deal, all the little screw ups that I experienced at this "luxury" Boston hotel prevent me from being able to recommend it you. read more

I stayed at the Boston Harbor Hotel on New Years Eve ONLY because I one a few night through a contest. Normally I would not stay at a hotel this fancy because the prices are REALLY high. The hotel is really nice and sits right on Boston Harbor (hence the name). The decor is beautiful and everything I'd expect from an upscale hotel in Boston. The rooms either have a harbor view or street view, both being very desirable. Our room was big and included two areas, one that served as a bedroom and the other as a living room - complete with a couch, a second TV (the other being near the bed), a desk, etc. The package we had included champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to our room by check-in, which was nice. We encountered many different staff, including valet, the convenience store, check-in, and room service. All staff members were polite, smiled often, and really made us feel welcome at the hotel - and we are NOT fancy people! Our package also included breakfast (which is why we had room service), which was okay. The food is tasty, but not worth the price. I'd suggest to stay away from it unless you don't mind spending a ton of money on typical food or don't want to leave your room. There's much better food for the same price or less if you venture into Boston. All in all our visit was nice, warm, and welcoming. If you are someone who likes fancy hotels and is visiting Boston, the Boston Harbor Hotel is a great place to stay. read more

This hotel was impressive from start to finish. Valet parking and check-in were a breeze and we were met with friendly, organized and professional employees the whole way through. Our room was spacious and the large picture window offered a beautiful view of the harbor. There were so many little details during our stay that really made the difference- you come into your room at night and the bed is turned down, slippers are placed next to it, bottled water on the night table and classical music playing. Room service was really well done as well. The indoor pool was fantastic- very large with three lap lanes, nice seating around the perimeter, great lighting. Locker rooms were well equipped and clean. The location of this hotel was excellent. This will be our 'go to' place when we're in Boston. Room tip- if you are looking for a quieter room- definitely request something away from the elevators. read more

Not a better location in Boston as a temporary home with easy walks to the North End, Chinatown, the Seaport, Faneuil Hall, and State House. Access to the T, Greenway, and rte. 93 Room view of the harbor was top notch. Two great bars in the hotel and dinner at the bar at Meritage was a personalized experience on a quiet summer Friday night. Also a quality, well equipped hotel gym with plenty of equipment. That said, the "spa" stinks with poor service and weak massage experience for far too much money. Also not impressed at all with the actual rooms - incredibly small and dated, especially the bathrooms. If you like cookies, don't waste your time ordering them from room service because you'll get dry, silver dollar sized, teeth breakers that taste like cardboard. read more

The wife and I spent two nights celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in a Superior King Harbor view room. Everything was superb. The wife said she felt like a millionaire. In the hospitality industry it is all about the details and the staff at the BHH know and practice the details. The BHH staff is very attentive and always greet you warmly. Breakfast at the Sea Grille was delicious and the wait staff was top notch. The hotel's location is great easy walk to anywhere in town or on the waterfront. A car and driver is also available for guests. The harbor views are spectacular and the hotel property and rooms are very well maintained and spotlessly clean. We are looking forward to our next stay! read more

Can not remark on the rooms... but went there recently for the Films under Moonlight show they've in the summer. These are occasions in the veranda where folks see a film (typically old films from the 1950s and 1960s) outside. The pub, the restaurant, reception and veranda are world class. Superb hotel, gorgeous views, professional staff, incredible food, worth the price.

I did not love the delay a computer glitch caused to our dinner and drinks. But it is hard to complain about anything in life with those amazing views and ambiance. They were great about getting us the perfect table even with no reservations. There is a happy ending to this story, the manager Laurita handled the whole thing like champ and comp'd a round as well as explained everything. Communication and transparency goes a long way in service and Laurita proved to be a one of a kind manager. read more

i dont really know where to start ..but here it goes..my boyfriend bought a package which involved a massage , facial and a pedicure...as a valentine' s day gift..he surprised me and it was definitely a great surprise..i got so excited when i found out..:-)but the excitement soon died when i entered for my massage ..the massage was equivalent to rubbing lotion on my body.the room was dark and gloomy...following that i had a facial right after..which dint even feel like a facial..it was done in 30 minutes and all she did was rub some cream on my face and put a face pack which i think i can do it at home by myself..by that time i was in no mood for a pedicure..the facial therapist kept looking at the time and i started getting a feeling that i was just being a bother...i mean seriously..u are supposed to be feeling relaxed and calm after a massage and a facial but on the other side i just wanted to get out of there...i cudnt even refuse a pedicure since my boyfriend had bought an entire package and i dint wana create a scene..needless to say the pedicure was worse than the $25 dollar pedicures you get at a chinese nail places..THIS WAS MORE LIKE HEALTH CLUB EPERIENCE AND NOT A SPA... all in all..a very disappointing experience and my boyfriend had the same experience with his massage, facial and pedicure..and he was more disappointed ..after all he had paid a fortune..and i really mean FORTUNE...to make it a great valentine weekend for me...:-( and as for the glow on my face after facial ..forget it!!! so people next time you think of indulging yourself instead of going to one of the boston most expensive hotels go to other spas which would give you the worth for your money and make it an enjoyable experience... A classic luxury hotel. Waterfront location. Walking distance to the financial district and historic Faneuil Hall, on one hand, and the vibrant and revamped Seaport District, on the other. If possible, get a room facing the harbor to fully enjoy the view (and also get a better sleep at night - city view may be noisier despite the insulated windows). My room (a city view suite) was very clean (I'd even say spotless). Good amenities in the bathroom: everything that one may expect from a top tier hotel. The health club is very good. The fitness room is fairly small but has good equipment (free weights, machines, treadmills, bikes) and is clean / well-kept. The pool is excellent (not highly chlorinated, 3 lanes, 60 ft + jacuzzi). Changing rooms / lockers have all the necessities, including hotel-branded t-shirts and shorts to-borrow for those who has forgotten their athletic wear or simply wants to keep theirs clean. One negative: parking / drop-off experience. Despite that, left the hotel with a nice impression. read more

This hotel has the worst customer service never mind its out dated and over priced. Even the restaurant is generic and at best buffet level food. How in the world this got rated a Forbes 5 star i do not know. Its not even a 3 star. Some of the rudest people i ever meet work here and if you have a complaint you will be ignored. I wouldn't stay here or ever recommend it to anyone and anyone that likes this hotel has never traveled or left boston and are unaware of how much better things could be. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere but here. read more

I recently stayed here with my family for a couple of nights while my husband interviewed for a position in the area. We used our points to book the hotel, and unlike some hotels that change their behavior towards you when you use rewards to pay for your stay, the staff at BHH were amazing from the moment we checked in. They went above and beyond with their recommendations and help on a number of things. I also used their notary (which was free) and we ate at their restaurant twice (both meals were great). Our son got to pick out a free stuffed animal to take home with him and we were also given baby-friendly toiletries in his crib. Overall a great stay and we will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Boston. read more

Stayed here over Labor Day weekend for 3 nights. Stayed on the 14th floor with a city view. We read the recommendations to upgrade to the harbor front view but decided the city view was more us. The room was excellent. I've been lucky to stay in some amazing hotels all over the country and this room is one of my favorites. The mattress was just like home and the duvet and sheets were soft, cold and perfect. If you're in the area give this place a try. I would compare the hotel room comfort to a four seasons hotel. read more

We spent our 25th wedding anniversary there in June and they spoiled us rotten. Upgraded us to a beautiful water view suite and everyone in the hotel knew it was our anniversary so they all made us feel very special. We really felt like we had gone away, even though we were only 5 miles from home and down the street from my office. BHH was like an oasis in the middle of the financial district. Also, dinner at their in-house restaurant was outstanding. Only negative - spa staff - they cancelled our couples massage a few days before we checked in. They offered us separate massages, hours apart. Not very romantic. The booker more or less said "hey we have plenty of clients, so take it or leave it." read more

After being there for only and hour the toilet overflooded all over the bathroom and entry way floor. Houskeeping came up to fix it and clean up but guess what the toilet clogged again the very next day I had to call house keeping again. They snaked the toilet. A wonderful place! I am very particular and really appreciate excellent hospitality when it is provided. The hotel is immaculate, professional yet friendly, and I feel that the staff goes to every effort to provide comfort. The room is comfortable and generous in size, with great linens and amenities. Room service is extremely prompt with perfectly prepared items and delicious fresh pastries. When housekeeping was contacted someone cheerfully arrived extremely promptly and provided all that was needed. The gym is also generous and well-appointed. You might think I work for this hotel by this review but I do not. I will definitely look forward to staying here when again in Boston, and will gladly return to this polite and dignified city. read more

Just returned home after an extended weekend in Boston. My husband and I checked into another hotel and checked out no more then 5 minutes later. A true disappointment! SO fortunate to have found the Boston Harbor Hotel and had the pleasure to stay in an absolutely beautiful room with amazing views and be greeted by the most helpful staff at every turn. I went to school in Boston and frequently travel there on business, as I did a week ago. I booked a room using www.getaroom.com and was glad I did. It's far from the cheapest hotel I've stayed in, but I felt my cozy room, the service and the hotel amenities (bar, patio, business center) were all top-notch. I usually schedule business meetings off site, but I enjoyed this property so much that I held it on the premises. read more

The Boston Harbor Hotel was perfect for our family vacation. We had two adjoining rooms, plus an amazing patio; we did not at all feel cramped with 4 children. Both the city-view and the harbor-view rooms are great; you can't go wrong either way. There was so much for the kids to do along the waterfront; playgrounds, parks, kid-friendly restaurants, the aquarium, duck boat tours, and so much more. The hotel was beautiful, with lots of attention to detail, a great kids' menu, and a wonderful, outdoor restaurant with entertainment on a floating barge. Plus the staff was great - very courteous and friendly. Our family loved it. read more

We we're put into a beautiful room...number 922. We're told we got a beautiful upgrade...the noise level in our room was unbearable and we thought it was the elevator. We requested a room change and they were very gracious...come to find out room 922 is called the "engine" room because all the mechanics of the hotel are inside the walls...explaining the vibrations! I wonder why a hotel puts a first time guest in such a lousy room when first impressions are so important! Now I am trying to sleep with an alarm going off non stop downstairs...but all in all it is a nice spot, great bar with fabulous drinks and staff...will be back ... Stayed here as part of our wedding weekend 6/21-6/23. Hotel staff could not be any more accommodating. Every staff person we encountered would ask if there was anything we needed, opened doors or offered a kind word. We were given a room upgrade without asking. The room was clean and offered amenities expected at a hotel of this level. The bed was AMAZING...great nights sleep on a perfect mattress. Our wedding was not "with" the BHH, but the staff helped out anyway. The BHH is within walking distance of the World Trade Center, Fanueil Hall and the North End. To keep the review simple and on point, there was nothing that could be improved upon to make our stay any better. Worth every cent to stay here and hope to be back. read more

Looking forward to my Stay at the Boston Harbor, for my 3rd Boston Marathon run! Its not easy traveling and picking different hotels from Houston, Texas. However it might be worth the stay and heard very great things this hotel. There is one mishap, I am stuck with out a room on April 21st. I would check out on 22nd and head back home. I have reversations 19-21st at the Boston Harbor. Anyone aware of a way to get an extra room. My husband and I spent one night in a harbor view room and were quite surprised at the lack of amenities. First, our television did not work and we had to call for help. Next, there are few outlets, only one near the bed. We found a charging station inside a desk, but my husband's phone did not charge overnight. There is no coffee available in the am except by room service. The furnishings are very dated (although it is an historical hotel). Our room was nearly $500 and we do not feel we got what we paid for. We will not return. read more

First of all, I did not stay at the hotel, but I did skate at the small ice arena and eat and drink in bar area with a group of 10 people. We had called in advance regarding the use of the skating arena. When they heard that we were a group of cancer survivors that were using the skating arena as part of our wellness program they told us that if we came into the bar after the event they would give us appetizers for free. We had a great time skating (warning: rental skates are very dull, so bring your own if you have them). The staff was friendly and then we went into the bar and the drinks were good and and appetizers just kept coming out of the kitchen for us. We appreciated the hospitality and certainly did not expect this additional perk, but we do appreciate it a great deal. I have been at the Boston Harbor Hotel for High Tea with my family and it is amazing. I would recommend that if you are in the area you eat and drink there because the views are amazing right along the waters edge in Boston Harbor. Enjoy! read more

During many occasions, Daniel Bruce told me he was going to make his restaurants more vegetarian friendly. After all, by his own admission, his kid is a vegetarian. And, yet, each time I consider making a reservation for dinner at either restaurant, my best choice is a salad. Attention Chef Bruce, if you want to please the masses, reach out to all of us. We thank Frank McClelland, Jodi Adams, Tim Wiechmann, Ana Sortun, Cassie Pluma, Gordon Hamersley, and Barbara Lynch for their creativity and caring about vegetarians. Apparently Chef Bruce focus is only on carnivores. Eating, drining, wine dinners and special events (including charity events) at the Boston Harbor Hotel are now off my list forever.
