Went to the lounge at the Boston Harbor Hotel on Friday for after work drinks. Mary Ellen N. was our server and she couldn't have done a better job. She makes the guest feel welcomed and relaxed. She was VERY knowledgeable and even let us use her own personal whisky book. Very attentive and great waitress. The lounge itself was fantastic, clean and dark. Like what you would expect a 1920s lounge to feel like. My husband and I plan to go back and are looking into one of their many wine dinners. read more

I stay at a lot of hotels, and really appreciate it when everything is done to a degree of perfection. This hotel is amazing. For starters, the location is gorgeous. But from the time you reach the front door, to the time you check out, every staff member will be among the best you've ever met, and every aspect of the hotel will be thoughtfully designed and maintained. I've stayed in much better hotels for less money. Insufficient electrical outlets for this day and age, and most were inaccessible (there was a multiple outlet inside of the desk, but was inoperable. I did get a strip after complaining. I didn't find the concierges very knowledgable and was given misinformation at least once. The rooms were not very large when compared to other four star hotels I've stayed at (although well decorated). read more

Location can't be beat but they are not 5 star service in the restaurants or bar. We asked for a dish to be split in the kitchen and the answer was "maybe". The time to get things to the table was slow, like extra dressing on a dry salad, dijon or the desire to have sea salt. A dish was missed completely so one person needed to forage from other people's plates. If the wait staff were around the table more they would have noticed our struggles. I find the overall staff to be young and inexperienced. The hotel needs to hire a German or Austrian manager with a strong background in food and beverage. I believe they would whip the restaurants into shape and teach what real high quality service is all about. Go spend a day in Vienna and experience what catering to one's desires is all about. read more

Or, OR... walking around Boston in flip flops with your group, and needing a drink due to the humidity and a nasty blister on someone's foot? Well then, look no further because here at the Boston Harbor Hotel, you can have a drink on the waterfront and pretend like you're fancy, or about to go on someone's yacht. Then, you can go indoors and feel like an idiot while you search around for the ladies' room while the people in pretty dresses and bow ties just watch. All in all, a breathtaking hotel that is worth at least one visit. Have your wallets ready. read more

We stayed here on Marathon Weekend, 2017, our fourth visit to hotel. We love staying here because of the service, location, and nice rooms. We are not normally "five star hotel people". Hampton Inns are more our style. However, for Marathon Weekend, with all the hotels jacking up their prices, we splurge and stay here for two nights. We are always greeted by William Sanchez as we pull up to the hotel. He remembers us every year, despite seeing thousands of guests. He makes our comings and goings always so pleasant. His attention to detail is awesome. We get city-view rooms and have no regrets about not getting the harbor view rooms. If any of us wake before the others, we like watching the city come to life early in the morning. The ferries that bring workers to the financial district create a bit of a rhythm to the city that is interesting. We use the valet parking because, on race day, we are generally moving fast, coming in from watching the race near Natick and hustling over to the finish line to meet our runner son. Dropping the car, rushing in to use the restrooms, and then hopping in to a cab has become our routine. Mr. Sanchez is always putting cold bottles of water in our hands as we come and go. We have not eaten in the restaurant at the Boston Harbor. We like the nearby Wagonwheel for breakfast and the Grannary Tavern for the post-race meal. We love going to Cambridge the night before the race and really enjoy the East Side Bar and Grill. The Northend is a short half-mile walk. The greenway in front of the hotel provides some great open space and makes walking a really pleasant experience. There is so much else to do right around the Boston Harbor Hotel. The hotel has lots of little touches. The sweets by the elevator are just an example. The service in the room is really awesome. When we go out for a meal and come back to find the bed prepared for the evening with slippers by the bed, we feel like royalty. Our runner son stays on the sleeper sofa and says it is very comfortable. We tend to use many towels and the hotel staff is awesome about ensuring we are stocked up. We tend to use the T on the Sunday before the race to get over to the race registration and travel to Cambridge. South Station and the Aquarium stops seem equidistant. We generally use the South Station since the Aquarium stop would require an extra switch in trains. We will be back! read more

Despite the fact that this hotel is flanked by the Four Seasons and an Intercontinental, I would return to the Boston Harbor hotel over any other. It's not just that the hotel and amenities are first class (the gym is amazing--and free!), but the staff is tremendous. Professional, courteous, helpful. Well done! read more

Tooootally overrated!! Maybe they treat conference guests different than others but I didn't have a fantastic experience here- contrary to most reviewers. My husband and I got in late Tuesday night for a stay through Saturday. First impression was a total wow. Everyone was really nice. We didn't get the waterfront view- but the view of the city was nice. The room looked really nice-very colonial- beds turned down when we got in the room. It wasn't until daylight though that I started noticing the "scratches and dents" so to speak. First, the bathroom was not great. The shower was horrible. There was barely any water pressure. The toilet made a weird beeping sound- intermittently. I couldn't tell what exactly would set it off but every so often it would just start chirping. Our room was very small so you could barely open the door without hitting the corner the closet was built into. Room service could barely get a cart through. I practically walked into it several times coming into the room. The last really terrible part about the place is the walls are PAPER thin!!!! I could hear everything and we were right next to the elevator so that's all I could ever hear- especially in the morning. It was sooooo annoying- especially when I wanted to sleep in late on Saturday. Oh also- there was construction or something going on and without warning when I walked out the back door I got sprayed over my head by the guy washing windows. Not cool. The "service" and employees are great but you sure do pay for it. It's like my husband says- the price of the hotel is really just for the service. It wasn't a spectacular facility. It felt very old. Everyone was nice up until check out. Once I got home I realized there was an extra breakfast charge on our room. The guy I spoke with on the phone at the front desk was very terse and treated me like a peasant. Never going back! read more

I lived in Boston for 14 years and never got to try this place. So on a recent trip back to Boston when the chance came along - i jumped at it. This place is a nice hotel that provides good service and has a great location. They have a great gym for a hotel and a nice restaurant with very friendly and professional staff. Overall a great place to stay in town for business. read more

I recently stayed here while attending a conference at the convention center. This is a lovely hotel- my room was gorgeous with beautiful city views! The restaurant was also great for breakfast- fast and yummy- Saturday brunch was also perfect! The only thing that bothered me about this hotel was that the staff seemed pretentious- especially at the front desk-- I realize this is an upscale hotel- but I still appreciate genuine customer care. read more

I'm a local and we booked the Romance Package for New Years. We had a great room overlooking the harbor and could see the fireworks from our room. The room was well appointed but it is the service that sets this hotel apart. I love being addressed as "Mrs....." Everyone from the front desk to bell staff to food service was wonderful. We had dinner at the Grille and it was delicious. The service was by far, outstanding. We did the whole champagne in your room thing which was nice but when we received a bonus fruit tray,now that was really nice. The most impressive of all was that I had to call down to get some aspirin the next morning and the bell man quickly brought it up with a smile and concern and they didn't charge me an arm and a leg for it. I would highly recommend staying here. read more

Just had the pleasure of staying here again (8/25&26/14). What a lovely property. Impeccably trained staff, killer location on the water - get a harbor view, it's well worth the slight up charge. Dinner at the Seaside Grill with live entertainment in a floating barge surrounded on 3 sides by the hotel. View of jets taking off and landing across the harbor. Breakfast - eggs Benedict al fresco - yum. Perfect weather to boot. Life's a beach - except when you're here. Then, life's great. read more

A terrific hotel with excellent service. They really work hard to be at similar level as the Ritz Carlton. Spectacular views of either the harbor or the skyline, and the restaurant downstairs had excellent food. Very nicely located in the center of Boston with very easy walk to South Station to get to the airport or the subway to the rest of Boston. Super luxurious. Expect pay a very pricey penny for this resort. Everything was outstanding. The room was well appointed with everything you could ever want. The housekeeping service was on par and delivered everything. All of the service was perfect. The rooms are clean and luxurious; as is the rest of the resort. I also like that this hotel is close to everything you could want to do in Boston. Faneuil Hall is a couple of blocks away, and the T is close. The dining was awesome. The Sea Grille was expensive but worth it. As I digress, you can read about that in my other review. I wish I could spend the rest of my yelping days here. read more

I've stayed here a few more times since my last review, and it's been great each time (I ask for a quiet room each time). In my most recent visit, I was able to get an early check-in at 6:30 am after a long red-eye flight, and that was greatly appreciated! Customer service is always excellent! Okay, true confessions, I don't know Boston at all well, and had to rent a car and navigate into the city from Logan. I love Boston but have never driven it and it's quite an experience in the tunnels. However, once I found the hotel, it was almost impossible to figure out where to park - no signage anywhere. And once I parked I had no idea where to go to get to the lobby. The rooms are nice but dated, with few outlets. The lobby restaurant is very good, and the views of the harbor can't be beat. This place is really nice but you need to know your way around to make it work. Good but not great. UPDATE. They got right back to me with a thoughtful response. This is indeed a quality place. We did the Mother's Day Brunch today. Everything was so delicious - we went late and got a beautiful window seat in the corner. The food was amazing. It is very pricey. Expect to pay about $100 a person. Getting mimosas is about $16 a glass so I would say get champagne ($10/glass) and mix with the free OJ... Or splurge - whatever you want... if you're going here I'm sure you can afford to drop $400 on 3 people for a lavish breakfast. read more

Had a wonderful stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel!! The location was great. A little bit of a walk for shopping on Newbury but a cab ride was less than $10. Everyone was very friendly. I'm pretty sure at least 10 people would say hello before you could even get to the elevator. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. The mattress was ridiculously comfortable. I loved all the little extras like shout wipes,the "daytime" comforter and water by the bed at night! It made it feel much more personal and less "hurry up and wipe stuff down and change the towels." The weather from the hurricane had us sort of stuck in the room all day but it was such a comfortable room that we didn't mind at all. The martinis at the Rowe's Wharf Bar were amazing. I will admit to trying a new one every night and they were all perfect. The bars and restaurants were busier than usual because of the weather the one night we did eat on site but everyone was still very friendly and I have zero complaints. I also left some prescription medicine in the room and they mailed it to my home within 3 days of returning which was much appreciated. Would love to stay again if I'm ever in the area. Even with the crappy weather it was a great trip! read more

Love this place. The decor is pretty conservative but they have an amazing floral arrangement that changes seasonally and livens things up. I'd say between the two resturaunts on site and proximity to the aquarium and North End (walking distance) this is a no brainier if you have the ca$h. Abuts the harbor. read more

Movies by Moonlight review: really nice time with scattered but sufficient seating & standing areas.

We were there for afternoon tea this past Saturday and we had a great time. Our reservation was at 4 but we arrived early and they seated us at 3:30. Our server came to our table to pour champagne and sparkling apple cider for our child. We ordered our tea. The food and the tea took a little while to come but we dived right in when we got the food. The waiter was very nice to offer a mini-sandwich and couple of desserts for our little free of charge. It was great. We had fun and so did our kids. They got to dress up and my daughter was so super excited about going when we told her how she could put on her princess dress. It was a nice, we spent ~3 hours there including picture time. I think it sure was an experience to remember for many years to come. read more

I attended a wedding last evening, and I have to say the best food I have ever tasted at a wedding. Very well planned menu and the food was just perfect! My (new) husband and I stayed at the Boston Harbor Hotel on our wedding night! Everyone at the hotel was very kind, very welcoming, and very accomodating. We had a beautiful room with a view of the harbor--gorgeous!!! The bed and pillows were the most comfortable ever and we woke up to the sun rising over the harbor. We ordered room service for breakfast and it arrived promptly. Although I'm not used to having ketchup bottles opened and tea poured for me, I appreciated the service! It was nice to lounge around the hotel in our robes and slippers. The wouldn't let us check out late, as they said the hotel was full, but after we checked out we lounged around the spa area. I really enjoyed the pool and hottub, as well as the amenities in the locker room. The one thing we were disappointed in was that the day before my brother-in-law and his wife dropped our bags off and checked us in. They tried to leave a gift of champagne glasses and a bottle of champagne in the room for after our wedding, but the front desk wouldn't let them leave the champagne. They promised them that they would provide a bottle of champagne, but the ended up not. So, we arrived at the hotel and saw the champagne glasses, but nothing to drink out of them! It's a small thing, but if they told my in laws they were going to leave it then they should of. Overall it was a very pleasant and relaxing stay! A nice splurge for our wedding night! read more

Nice place, great views, great location, and generally friendly and courteous staff. This beautiful facility is great for couples or business travelers, if you're company let's you get away with $500 rooms. But, this is not the place for families. The staff is not so friendly towards the little guys. One of my kids affectionately nicked-named a certain employee "Grumpy Gus". For restaurants, just take a 15 minute stroll to the north-end for fanrastic Italian food. I also have to give kudos to one of the front desk employees, but I'm sorry to say I forgot his name. I would not hesitate to stay again with adults, but not with children. read more
