Went here because of the good reviewson Yelp. Got the doner wrap, which was not exactly what I had in mind. The lamb was dry, there were way too much vegetation it, and practically no yogurt sauce. I feel like an addict and I have my coworker/girl crush T-Bone to thank for that. We hit up The Kebab nearly every day for our food time respit from the soul crushing work that consumes us and makes me weep into my pillow at night. The Kebab has become my savior. Every morning we count down until it is a reasonable time (lately that has become 11:30 am) to venture across the street and take in the bounty that the Kebab has to offer. When I first started going here I stuck with a falafel wrap, because if it were socially acceptable, I would drape myself in falafel. The wrap is HUGE and scrumptious and inexpensive and oniony, so I ask for them to hold those raw beasts (although occassionally they sneak back in.) But the wraps are just the beginning... T-bone really turned me on... to the meze bar. They have tray after tray of middle-eastern treasures like hummus, lentils, meaty things, veggies, every bean in the rainbow, tabouli, fried stuff, mystery items, and my beloved falafel. Some things are regular cast members in every episode, but there are guest stars as well in the hot trays like baked spinach with eggs, lamb stuff on a bone and other interesting characters. I like to make a solid base of hummus, top it with some falafel babies, a splash of tabouli, delicious muhammara spread, and then whatever yummy goodness catches my eye. The best part about the meze bar, which T-bone totally takes advantage of is once you hit the weight value of $9.95, you can keep piling that shizz on and the price will not go up. She likes to go for nearly 3 pounds of food a day. My hero. We fill up the containers, pay the lovely ladies, receive our pita and head back to our office to stink the joint up with the heavenly aromas of garlic and hummus. bliss. In addition to the meze they have an awesome salad bar that has so many choices that I sometimes get overwhelmed and ask for an assortment of things that should never be mixed together, like craisins, feta, sundried tomatoes and falafel. If you keep it under control and focus, you will have a scrumptious big salad at a great price of around 6 smackaroos. After some trial and error, I always go with the zinfandel dressing. The Kebab is wicked popular so I suggest arriving early so you can get the goods before they are picked over. The downstairs seating fills up quickly as well and it gets pretty loud, but everyone is stuffing their faces happily. So, I am hooked and the Kebab just keeps feeding my demons by giving a one dollar off your next visit coupon (within 3 business days) on the bottom of every receipt. Cruel temptress! I really enjoy eating at this restaurant. Owners and cooks are very warm and friendly. The variety is superb, too. Boston needed a nice/clean kebab place for a long time. Being Turkish, I think I have the authotrity to judge the kebab quality: Boston Kebab House by far makes it best. Even if you're not a meat-person they have vegetarian appetizer choices, which can be nutricious enough to replace a meal. If you want a place that you don't wanna waste time, money, and appetite, you are at the right spot. Believe me, you'll be friends with the people over there because you will keep showing up over and over again. They also have catering service, last week I ordered for 40 people at work. The place is a zoo during the lunch rush, so I tend to go around 1pm when things are calmer. Then I can order a wrap without waiting in line or fill a plastic container with stuffed grape leaves, artichoke fritters, marinated string beans, and all sorts of other goodies from the meze bar and be out the door in 5 min. Or, if things are slow at the office and I'm meeting my fellow Turkish food-loving friend, we'll sit in the dining area downstairs and plot our next escape to Istanbul. Love it. read more

Allow me to basically re-hash what everyone else has already said before. (I'm only reviewing this so I can add it on my future list of lunch places near downtown. Estimated date of completion: March of 2014) First off, Meze Bar is the Sheeeeeeeeeeit. (Say it Clay Davis style). Sure you could get the by the pound, but you know you want to fill that box with as many weird Mediterranean delights as you can I think I had a box that weighed over 3 pounds once. Split it with somebody or eat it for 2 meals. Or 3 if you don't have an inner fat kid like me. When I feel like not letting the fat kid take over (not often), I get a salad. The salad bar is probably the best in the area. The small is like $5 and the large $6, and you can load that Mofo with as many toppings as you like, only 2 proteins though. Ask for the whole wheat Pita with it. If you have a $1 coupon from the day before you are literally stealing from them when you get a small and 30 toppings. The Turkish/Greek/Mediterranean dinners are decent but over priced. Go elsewhere (the King) if you want this. They also have a deli??? I do not know why you would go here and order sandwich. I haven't seen that in anyone's review either. Probably a reason, although to be fair, the sandwiches didn't look bad. There it is: Get a salad or Meze Bar. read more

This is the absolute best place to get lunch in the Financial district! I love it. Its so cheap and the quality is amazing. I love that i can go in and pi kc a few items from the mezze bar and spend less than $4 on lunch and be satisfied til dinner. If you go to their website you can enter for a free lunch! that's how i ended up here and have been back twice a week since. LOVE this place. For what it is - a cheap, quick lunch spot - they do it well. Although their salads are good, (how can they not be, you tell them everything that you want in it?) I'm not a salad person so I go for their kebabs. They're HUGE, healthy-ish, and they taste real and totally unprocessed. Today's visit was slightly disappointing. I always enjoy the kale and tuna salads on the cold bar. Unfortunately the tuna salad was missing today. I was forced to try the orange chicken on the hot bar. Sad to report that the kale salad today was gritty. It was obvious that the kale was not washed as every bite had a sandy crunch. The orange chicken was just OK. I am usually very happy with my selections and therefore not sure what happened today. I will give them another try soon. read more

Very happy to report that the quality of beef at the Metze bar has been significantly upgraded. It's very tender and devoid of any of that previously mentioned gristle. So Boston Kebab House has done some remodeling and seems to have replaced its head chef. The changes have not been for the better. I'll focus on the food. The meze bar has half the offerings and half the flavor. I used to seek out the salmon dishes but the last few times I tried the meze bar, the salmon looked like planks of wood. So did the hot chicken dishes actually. And the sauteed beef dish, which used to be a favorite, is now flavorless and dry. I see one reviewer has raved that this dish is now "free from gristle". That reviewer is an idiot. Seriously, pay no attention to the the reviewers on here who say Boston Kebab House is now improved - they have no taste buds. I used to go here two or three times a week but I don't think I'll be back any time soon. read more

I just went to Kebab House and ogled at the options for about 2 minutes before asking them if they could make me a Greek Chicken Salad Wrap. It was deeeeeelicious. Totally hit the spot. Warm grilled chicken with very fresh and flavorful ingredients. The wrap was soft, warm, and not too chewy. If you're in the mood for something heartier than your standard sub sandwich, this is a great place to go. I will definitely go back when I'm next in the area for work. read more

Love the Meze bar, but lately it's been hit or miss. For example, they do not always wash the broccoli, so if you mix it into your dish, you just ruined a 12 dollar lunch. The latest screw up was dumping whole black pepper corns into the Kale salad along with the raisins. I have frequented this place only once in a while because I don't particularly like the abrasive, holyer-than-thou attitude exhibited by their staff. Today was a harsh reminder of why I wont go back soon. I had gone to the self service food bar but I wanted beets which were only available from the employee-manned salad bar so I had to hand my box over the sneeze guard and ask for beets. I probably would have gotten more from the salad bar, but I felt rushed by the salad bar person so only got beets and ran. It was 2pm, but I still had to wait in a line for the register with at least 6 people ahead of me. The register line weaved in amongst people using the food bar, others waiting for food to be cooked and people coming and going. While I was waiting to pay, I witnessed the cook serving food from a fry pan, putting it in a to-go container. He apparently wanted to sample some of his cooking because he stuck his bare fingers in the pan and grabbed some of the food which he then put in his mouth, then continued putting the remainder in the box. I am not sure where that eating hand, which had no glove on it, went after that. The other hand holding the pan was properly covered by a glove. When I got up near the register, I then saw one cashier grab the scale of the other cashier and tip it on its side quite aggressively. It seemed like they were trying to fix it or something but banging and slamming it around and it seemed to me like it was broken. Then they seemed to finish their scale project and they tipped it back to its correct position, threw 3 sets of forks and knives in a plastic bag on top (seemingly to set the box offset weight), getting it ready to weigh the next customer's food and that was me. I was motioned by a pointed finger to approach. I refused on the grounds that I did not think the scale was in good working order and set properly. I waited for the other cashier and scale - but now very apprehensively questioning if I even wanted my food at all. Then the cashiers talked about me right in front of me saying "I don't know....he didn't like my scale or something". You are right honey, I don't like your scale, your cook or your attitude. See you soon, like maybe in 6 months this time. My rating has now dropped from 3 stars to 2 stars. read more
