This is a neighborhood gem. The staff is super friendly and accomodating. We've been here a number of times and it never disappoints. From their regular menu, we love the meatballs, mussels, the majority of the pastas (we haven't had all of them), and all their desserts are so yummy. The best authentic Italian place in Astoria by a landslide. My girlfriend and I have been going to this place for several months and really love the consistency of good food. The specialities are in their pasta. Not to say that other things on the menu aren't good, but their pastas are not only well priced but are also what makes this place more authentic than other restaurants. When it comes to dishes we absolutely love the fettucine gamberi e pesto, carbonara, amatricana, and cacio e pepe. While remaining authentic, the owners change up the menu to include different pasta selections every few months. Even before they added certain dishes like pasta alla amatriciana on their menu, their head chef was more than happy to make it for us. The guys that own this place are not only all italian but are truly great people to get to know. Really cute little place. I would best describe this as an Italian gastropub. Make sure you check the waitlist prior to arriving to avoid having to wait as there is small space to wait. The food here is absolutely delicious. Super fresh and great portions so you can try a lot of different options. I recommend the mussels, they're huge. The prices were extremely reasonable. This is probably my favorite Italian in Astoria. If you're going to splurge, this is the place to do it. Their meatballs are a must have. The menu is small but with something for everybody. Six pastas, three carpaccios, a selection of salads and bruschettas. I love the one with avocado and smoked salmon. A generous portion for only $10. Every day they have specials, too. My favorite were the homemade burrata and gnocchi with white truffle cream sauce. And you can't skip their homemade desserts: I sometimes have dreams of their Nutella hazelnut tart! Decadent! I usually drink their primitivo; it has a nice complexity to it, but when I have the chance to get there before 7pm I order their Spanish Merlot they use for happy hour. Amazing value for $5!!! I am not a big cocktail drinkers, but sometimes I like to indulge into an Aperol Spritz. They are Italian, so they know how to make it! And for $11 I think it's fairly priced. One thing that makes this place very special is the ambiance, very casual and informal with a sort of sensuality to their decor. Music selection is AMAZING: they make their own playlists and rotate them often. So far I heard a lot of different genres I like at Botte: new-wave, indie rock, Euro-disco, Funk, Soul, Alternative. If you haven't eaten here, you are missing out. I haven't found anything here I don't like. The mussels in red sauce are amazing! Personally, my favorite pasta is the pesto fettuccini with shrimp. The pasta is probably the best I have ever had in my life. All the staff is absolutely phenomenal. They wait on you like you are their very best friends. I'll say this... the atmosphere is fantastic -- the staff (led by Valerio and Francesco) are so friendly and warm... they make you feel like family -- the food is delicioso and authentic (Antonio is a fantastic chef who is very creative and uses a lot of flavor is his food) -- the music is amazing (most of it handpicked by Valerio). Botte Bar doesn't look like much from the outside, but they made good use of a small space. There are around 5 tables, and several seats at the bar. Our party of four was able to get a table immediately at 9:30 on a Saturday night. We started with the burrata appetizer (a special), and the bruschetta. Both were delicious. For the main course, we had three pastas and a salad between the four of us. I would rate the pastas we ordered from most favorite to least favorite: gnocchi with red sauce, spaghetti with eggplant and burrata, ravioli with pesto. All of the pastas were solid, with the red sauce being some of the best I've ever had. For dessert, we had some limoncellos followed by cannolis. Overall, everything was delicious. The thing that really made this a five star experience, however, was the service. We were served by the owner, who was friendly, accommodating, and quick. As an Italian guy transplanted in NYC, was searching for a spot to eat authentic food for a fair price and maybe talk some Italian as well. Looks like I got lucky as I not only found it, but it's 3 blocks away from where I live in Astoria. The menu presented by chef Antonio is 100% Italian and the high quality of specials is guaranteed. In particular, calamaretti in umido, burrata with prosciutto and at least one pasta entrèe are never missing on our table. Honorable mention to the rest staff and the owners, Valerio and Francesco, the former taking care of client welcoming along with fantastic music playlists, the latter at the bar preparing delicious drinks (Negroni in particular). Very small and pretty inside. I ordered the special which was salmon and veggies...delicious and fresh. The server told us they change the special every few days. The bread was delicious I inhaled it all in record time. The house white wine was good, and I ordered a Moscow mule that was weak. I went here for a drink during the COVID pandemic. The new rules put in place for bars say that you have to purchase some type of food with your beverage purchase so I totally understand that we had to purchase food and I expected that. Most places offer chips or something else cheap you can purchase with your alcoholic beverage but Botte bar does not so I ordered the mixed olives. I specifically asked the server before we ordered if that was fine and he said yes. After our first drink the server came over and said we had to order something bigger than the mixed olives so they don't get in trouble. I told the server that the law doesn't specify the size of the food item. The server went and got the manager or owner and he fought with us that we had to order something else. We didn't want to make trouble so we ordered French fries and he said no we had to get something more expensive. He then went over to the menu posted on the door and picked three more expensive items that we could choose from. I do my best to support small/local businesses that are struggling because of the pandemic, but this was outrageous. The staff was so rude and were trying to get us to order more food under the guise that it's the law. I will not be returning and I suggest that you don't visit this establishment either. I won't be returning. On a Saturday afternoon, I stopped by spontaneously having seen about their blue point oyster special - $12 for half a dozen. I walked in hoping the oysters were fresh and was not disappointed. Had a wonderful dinner! The decor and ambiance is beautiful and welcoming. Prices here are slightly more affordable than nearby places which is what caught my eye in the first place. I ordered the gnocchi alla sorrentina and it was delicious! My friend ordered the tagliatelle alla bolognese and was so full, he almost couldn't finish his meal (which is very rare). I had a bite of his plate and can confirm it was very tasty. Antonio (I believe that was his name) stopped at our table and had some small chit chat about our experience and about us as patrons. This place is one of the few if not the only restaurant that remained open when the pandemic started, with their unique passion Francesco and Valerio (Owners) kept continuing to give the Astoria community a taste of their delicious food even if it was only to go or by delivery at those beginning times. As restrictions of gatherings have changed due to the pandemic, NYC have allowed more flexibility for restaurants to offer to patrons as far as accommodations for dining in. Being a local of the Astoria community, I noticed how Botte have builded a great atmosphere for the outside dining area following all NYC regulations as far as service, sanitation and ordering procedures of alcohol. All this and the fact that Valerio and Francesco have been serving delicious food that pairs excellent with their selection of wines and their trendy cocktails I had to come back and experience their newly builded outside area myself additionally to enjoy my favorite pasta dish "Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese", amazing dish with a great meat sauce so rich in texture and very flavorful and I paired this with a Forst, an italian beer. As usual the food didn't disappoint, the vibe was great, nice and warm at the outside area, the guest even have the option in the dining area to sit at regular tables or a bar like area with bar stools. In conclusion I highly recommend this place (AGAIN!). These owners have shown to keep up improving and keeping up with better effective ways to accommodate guest while following pandemic guidelines. Excellent spot for a date, to catch up with a friend or simply alone to enjoy a nice italian beer or authentic Italian Negroni while nibbling on those delectable fries they got on the menu.
