We started with the fried pickles and they were some of the best I've had. The dipping sauce wasn't your typical ranch (I forgot to ask what it was), but whatever magic they put in it worked it was absolutely delicious. Then we moved on to the burgers. We tried the Juicy Burger and it truly lives up to the name. Every single bite was worth it. I personally had the Jalapeño Burger and let me tell you... get ready for some heat. If you're not used to spicy food, this one might test your limits. But the flavor was incredible. You could really taste that the burger was grilled, and it gave it that perfect smoky, savory flavor that makes a great burger stand out. The drinks were also fantastic. They have a huge selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. I had one of their mezcal cocktails and it was bartender's kiss. I also tried a couple of their spirits and everything was on point. Another thing I really appreciated was the noise level. There's music playing, but it's not overwhelming, you can still actually have a conversation without yelling across the table. That's always a win. They also have a nice outdoor patio if you want to sit outside. We went during the week, so it was lively but comfortable. I can only imagine this place really gets going on the weekends. At Cafe Roze, the food is decent, but it is priced as if the food is great. Part of that is the fault of high rent prices, since this neighborhood got so hot. And part of it probably is a tendency of restaurants to have a self-impressed vibe, when they really shouldn't. The wait staff is hit or miss. Some are quite friendly. Others seem to be trying too hard to project how impressive they think you should think they are. Cachet over substance can be a problem in hot neighborhoods like this. The location itself is great, a cozy corner near other businesses in a walkable residential neighborhood. Of course, that also can mean parking might be a challenge. So if you come to this part of East Nashville, you're better off taking a rideshare or taxi, rather than driving here and parking.

It was very dark in here when we walked in and pretty loud, so our senses were a bit distraught. We got to the bar and went to order some drinks and saw that there was a bit of food on the menu. My silly self ordered the burger and tried to modify it and the bartender said "No Modifications!" (it did say that on the menu, my bad). My burger was really good, I powered through the pickles, and my beer was great too! "No Modifications!" became something we repeated the rest of our trip, so it worked out!

We arrived to the patio bar first and had a great experience with the very informative bar tender. She was helpful and made recommendations for us to choose from for dinner. Patio drinks Jack and Coke double tall and Old Fashion. We were welcomed in with a "happy birthday" and seated promptly. Once seated, Katie came to the table with a bubbly and positive attitude (she was fantastic). She took our order quickly and stayed on top of the beverages. Now here is where the experience went from really good to top-notch--apps, dinner, desserts. Starters Caesar salad with spicy breadcrumbs was the best and most fresh tasting Caesar my husband and I have ever tasted... not too much dressing but very flavorful Truffle potatoes with truffle cream sauce and parsley powder came with a punch of savory flavor and a nice crunch wonderfully delicious.
