The bartenders are always friendly, welcoming, and--most importantly--respectful. As a woman, it can be challenging to find a bar where you feel comfortable going alone. Lakewood Rocks is one of the few places where I've consistently felt safe. The bartenders really look out for their customers, and I think that's a big reason why they have so many regulars. I was there last night for several hours, and I can confidently say that the claims made in the last review I read don't reflect my experience at all. I truly appreciate the staff for always being so great and creating an environment where people feel welcome and safe.

There was a chair and signs saying you needed to show ID but nobody there when we walked in. All of a sudden, some guy tapped on the shoulder and ask her ID. I don't know who he is at a black shirt jeans look like any patron in the location. We hadn't even gotten 10 feet inside the door. I asked who he was and he asked again for ID and then asked us to step outside. We stepped outside and he said he was security and needed to see our ID. I told him at that point if your security wanted to see ID, you should've been at the door when we walked in. At that point, he said I have the right to refuse interest to anyone and then stared up the space and wouldn't let us in. I have no problem, not given that business my money for having a rude inconsiderate fool that they hired a stand at the door asking for ID for people over 50 who had no problem showing ID just wanted to verify who the heck the person was that was demanding ID when they weren't where they were supposed to be in the first place. I reached out to the owner through email, Facebook messenger, and a phone call and have not received any call back to discuss the situation that occurred and that is why I will not return to this location and give them any more of my money and I've got friends that go there that probably won't either.
