This was such a disappointing experience. The line was to the door, only 1 cashier. After ordering it took 20 minutes to get our order, good thing we weren't in a hurry. Beware. Ordered a French dip here yesterday. Got home to such a small sandwich - even with the extra fat roll - that after a couple bites i opened it to see exactly how much meat was there. Two tiny thin slices.....that were green on the edges!! (Yes i have pictures) Ughhhhhhh. Luckily i did not get food poisoning (yet?). Bummer since i usually love Boudin, and the ladies at the counter at this location are very pleasant. I see they have expanded their menu in the last 30 days to include pizzas. This Boudin opened up about a week ago, so it is still really new. It is located near Men's Warehouse, too. I came here with my husband when we saw the 'Now Open' sign. It was fairly packed inside. We decided to order the clam chowder in a bread bowl. After paying at the counter, we were given a number to place at our table. About 5 minutes later, our food was served to us. The clam chowder was delicious! It was piping hot with a decent amount of clams. My husband found it to be 'too clamy' for him. There was also chunks of potatoes. The bread bowl went great with the clam chowder. I love dipping the extra bread top into the soup. Overall, I would highly recommend Boudin. The food and service was great here. I always have clam chowder in a bread bowl, and the sourdough and the soup are so good! The half-soup half-salad deal is really good - the soup is almost the size of the whole soup plus you get the salad. The service is fast, and there are unlimited refills on the drink. It's a weird cross between sit-down and counter-serve, as they bring your food to you and clear it, but you order at the counter and fill your own drinks. Hard to find parking in the big shopping center, but overall good. read more

I have really liked Boudin SF for a long time, and pre-pandemic, used to go to the Almaden location on a regular basis. During the pandemic, we get take out from them every so often. I normally order salads, but the past two times that I have ordered salad, they have gotten the order wrong. Tonight, I ordered the Southwest Chicken salad to go. At home, I discovered that the chicken was altogether missing. Last time, I ordered the Steak Salad, and all it had was some steak and salad greens. All the other stuff was missing. So, it looks like a pattern, right? Someone there does not know how to make the salads properly. There is no quality control. My husband, who picked up the order, said that it was not even very busy at the time. So, what gives? We live far enough away that to return the salad to the store is a giant hassle. So, if you get takeout from the Almaden location, I recommend checking your order, even if it means unpacking the whole package. Personally, I will no longer order takeout salads from them. I've been coming here since this location opened. Most employees are very friendly and the food is usually pretty good. The issue I have is that I came in at 6pm and was told I couldn't get any hot food because they close the clean the kitchen one our before their closing time of 7pm! The girl at the counter wasn't very friendly either. I've never been to a restaurant where I'm there one hour before they close and can't order hot food because they're cleaning up. They were out of clam chowder when I went. So disappointed. I had the BLT on a croissant instead. It was good but very boring. I never like ordering plain sandwiches (unless I'm at togos) because I never feel like I get my monies worth Any who, my boyfriend got the classic bbq pulled pork sandwich and enjoyed it. So I've been to Boudin once before and I didn't end up buying anything besides an iced tea for a quick meet up. Everything (ordered by companions) looked amazing and I vowed to return in future. Today I was starving and craving a sammich and my sister wanted soup so I ordered a turkey club. In all we ordered the turkey club, chili bowl and half grilled cheese/bowl of tomato soup. I'm surprised by the quality of food. Most places skimp on the chicken, bacon, etc but it was decent portions and real slices of thick chicken, also real bacon not weird packaged bacon. I swapped Swiss cheese for cheddar. When I got home I realized it was packaged avocado spread (which I'm not a fan of) so I took it off and added sprouts and jalapeños to my sammich. All and all it was very good. I probably won't ever try the avocado toast because of the experience I had today. But everything else was very good. Biggest point was the free bread loaf I received for downloading their app and "checking in" to get the code to give the person ringing up my order. I had no idea but apparently if you check in and use the app, you get a free loaf of bread each month. That's incredibly smart marketing. My family doesn't eat a lot of bread, but from now on I'm coming here to get my free bread and a treat while I'm here. Pleasantly surprised, definitely a new loyal customer. read more

Quite disappointed. First they didn't have Clam Chowder, thought it was pretty odd for them to run out of their feature menu item. We ordered 3 sandwiches and 2 soup, which are premade and all they have to do is scoop them into containers. They charge me for a full sandwich and full size soup when I asked for Pick a Pair combo. I let it go and let them give me what they charged me for. After 30 minutes of waiting, I see that they only gave me a half sandwich. I asked about it and they said they will get me another sandwich which took another 15minutes. The grilled cheese sandwich was burnt. There wasn't a single apology from any employees including from the one who looked to be a manager. They all seemed annoyed that I asked for what I paid for. There was an employees, a young man, eating and chewing as he is taking an order to a table which I thought was very unsanitary. One star is generous for overall experience. First time having breakfast at a Boudin. I was in the area and thought I'd give it a go. This is a 5 star review because the manager, Devin, who was the only one handling orders at the register, has the happiest and most helpful attitude. Even wIth long lines he was so graceful under pressure and managed to serve with a smile. As for the food, the avocado toast was bland but fresh. The fruit had good flavor and also was fresh. My elderly mother loves their clam chowder so I went to get her some. They ran out. So I ordered her butternut squash and a salad and a chicken pesto chicken sandwich for myself. While I was getting ready to scan my card I could feel the cashier leaning over to watch if I gave a tip or not. They have the BEST sandwiches here, hands down. However, their pizza is so terrible I am forced to write this review to let everyone know. In the photos on their website it looks so good with fresh ingredients and sourdough. However i went to try it just today and its terrible. It literally tastes like the 99 cent cardboard pizza you buy at the dollar store and was $12 for a tiny little box. I highly recommend the sandwiches here, but the pizzas are beyond terrible. I hope Boudin reads this and takes the pizza off the menu because they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to pizza. Worst ever. read more

Went in for a sandwich. I wanted a Turkey Avocado on Multigrain (which is the bread it has been served on from the beginning). I was told it now came on Seeds and Grain and the Multigrain was no longer available. Interesting because there were 3 loafs of multigrain for sale??? The staff apologized and said it was a recent change. I'm not sure the reason for the change. The change was not communicated. Very poor marketing. The turkey avocado sandwich is a popular sandwich. I frequent this location regularly and always order the same thing. I'm vegan and ALWAYS order soup and salad (mixed greens only). The last time I was in, I placed my order like usual and clarified with the cashier that I just wanted mixed greens, nothing else. When I got home, the salad in my bag was a spring salad, covered in cheese! Again, I'm vegan (plant based only) and I couldn't eat the salad! I know this is a chain and I'm usually "boo hoo" on chains, but I make an exception for this chain. I even eat here when I'm in SF. I love the tomato soup, but I always ask for the bread bowl on the side. I do not like a soggy loaf of sourdough. On this trip, I had a coupon for 3.00 off one of the new salads. I got the Kale Cesar and it was huge, came with chicken, croutons, parmesean and the dressing. I asked for the dressing on the side and thats what I got. My woman always gets the chili and she loves it. Just an FYI, if you register the Boudin card while you're there, you'll leave with a free 3.99 loaf of sourdough bread. When I got home I had some version of the sandwich on multigrain bread with avocado. I bought a peanut butter cookie and it WAS STALE. What has happened to this restaurant? I get to try the Blue note burger- it has bleu cheese, caramelized onion,arugula and balsamic vinaigrette! Definitely the bomb! Myyy favorite so far! Also the chicken pesto sandwich is delisssshhh!
