Every time I have dined here it's good. Whether to get a bagel in the morning, a sandwich for lunch, or just have a sweet tooth for their fresh baked cookies. This is the place to go. I feel lucky to have one close by other then Disneyland or San Francisco. Taste the same :-) My one star removal is only because I ordered three breakfast sandwiches for my friends and I and we were charged the sandwich and for three bagels. That doesn't seem right. At least in my opinion. $20 for three breakfast egg and cheese sandwiches on a bagel. Won't be doing that again. I'll tell you what isn't lame though: Boudin during lunch. I usually get the soup and sandwich/salad combination as it's the perfect portion for that afternoon meal when you don't want to overstuff and slip into a food coma at the office. They have their standard daily soups like the tomato and clam chowder that everyone always raves about, but they also offer a soup of the day that is also worth a try. The official grand opening is Aug 28th and the first 100 people in line (opening at 9am) will score free loaves of bread for a year. Today is the soft opening where they are handing out free meals for all visitors. Since the store wasn't officially open, not all menu options were available but who can complain with free, right? The greeter at the door was very welcoming and gave me a card with choices of sandwich, soup and dessert. There was another card with selections of salad, entree and dessert. The cashier seemed a tad absent-minded, but it may just be that she was adjusting to the system. She took my order incorrectly and it was only discovered when my sandwich was delivered; the waiter fixed it immediately with no sign of hesitation. Turkey cranberry sandwich: I was surprised by the softness of the sourdough bread my sandwich was served in. The crust was hard but if eaten correctly, you can salvage palate from harsh scraping. The turkey was dry as ever but the sweetness of the cranberry sauce softened it up and made the sandwich quite delectable. There were sprinklings of red onion in the mix and they added their characteristic bite that I personally could have done without. The sandwich came with a side of salad that I found to be quite bitter. Chinese chicken salad: This hodgepodge of greens, oranges, wonton strips and chicken doused in sesame dressing was unexpectedly appetizing as well. The dish itself was fairly large and can serve as an entree on its own. The flavors were light and tasty, refreshing on a hot day. Clam chowder: I asked for it without the traditional bread bowl. The texture was decent but slightly on the watery side. I felt that it needed more clams, and after eating certain foods, the soup seemed much saltier. Baked chicken rigatoni: This failed to impress. Most of the entrees seemed more fitting for dinner than lunch so this may be a reason as to why this dish wasn't all that appealing. It was just too heavy for lunch. Lemon bar: It was quite soft, mushy and extremely tangy. The lemon flavor comes out with a little prodding (or it may be the fact that I had another taste in my mouth at the time). There were no signs of first-day jitters here, save the cashier, and every staff member I encountered was very friendly, checking up on me and offering services. Lunch time hit and my coworker and I were trying to find someplace new. We were driving by and decided we'd give it a try. Walking in, I noticed someone making bread and rolling dough on the side. There were lots of tables available and the place seemed busy. I ordered a thai salad with the dressing on the side. It came with some of that fresh bread as well. It was really yummy and a large portion. My coworker got the chili and a salad and her salad was tossed with a bit too much dressing. But the spoonful of the chilli I tasted was good. She did say it was mostly beans, though, and not too much meat in there. Overall, a pretty good experience and I'd go back to try some more food. read more

Their sourdough bread is absolutely delicious - soft and chewy with the perfect amount of slight tanginess. Have tried soup in bread bowls at other locations (i.e. Panera), and their bread almost always lacks the little kick that I look for in sourdough. I came here for a late lunch with my boyfriend on a Thursday afternoon. There were barely any people there when we came but I think they're known to be really busy during peak hours. They have a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. It reminds me of a Panera Bread but way better! The food was not only really good but came out really fast! I ordered the turkey cranberry sandwich which I really enjoyed. I think whoever thought of putting cranberry sauce on a turkey sandwich is GENIUS!! I hope I can personally thank them myself someday. My boyfriend ordered a clam chowder bread bowl. I tried a piece of his bread dipped in the chowder and it was warm and delicious and just right. I love Boudin! It's like Panera, except infinitely better :) LOVE their butternut squash soup. So rich and creamy and flavorful with walnuts and cranberries! It's absolutely incredible! I like it more than their clam chowder, which I actually just find mediocre, but I guess I just don't like my clam chowder as thick as theirs. My friend said she liked it, so it's probably just a difference in preferences. Their salads are also pretty appetizing and delicious. I would say their sandwiches is where things can be a hit or miss, definitely check what they put inside on the menu. I remembered their turkey avocado sandwich being pretty good though simple HOWEVER I went recently and had another sandwich with a rather complicated name that strongly tasted as if it had wasabi in it. My friend got the same sandwich and she complained that it tasted sour like vinegar. Not exactly sure what went wrong there (we're thinking it was the mustard?) but I will not be getting that sandwich again... I also told her that I called their branch to tell them what happened and the girl I talked to offered either to deliver the correct sandwich that same day or they mail me a $10 gift card. Celebration brunch as a long week! It was my first time here so I browsed the menu, deciding whether I should order breakfast (since it was before 10:30) or one of the sandwiches/burgers on the back. I ordered the Grilled Brie, Apple, and Fig Jam (possibly the most interesting thing on the menu) with a side of salad instead of potato chips. The flavor of the grilled cheese was amazing! I love the melted, ooey -gooey cheese paired with thin slices of tart granny smith apples balancing the sweet fig jam oozing from the crevices of the cheese and apples. The sandwich was nicely grilled with cheddar cheese on the outside of the bred, also. The side salad was a simple tossed salad but there was a tad bit too much balsamic dressing. My friend ordered the classic Clam Chowder Bread Bowl (at 10 a.m., I know) and it as also delicious! It wasn't anything mind-blowing but the sourdough bread was dense and fresh. I like the fresh bread but the soup was average. Cash/card accepted and ample parking! You can also find additional FREE parking in the covered retail parking lot. I love this place! I'm lucky that it is located close by to where I work. The Food = Awesome!! Clam Chowder: so yummy! Even when I get it to go, it's still nice and hot 10-15 minutes later. I have not yet tried this in a bread bowl, but plan to soon! Turkey Avocado Sandwich: very very good and my favorite! It's not as boring as it sounds. I think the multigrain bread and havarti cheese that they use makes it such an awesome sandwich! My only complaint is that for $6.99, it should be bigger! Chocolate Chip Cookie: definitely worth the $1.95 price tag. I am so in love with these! Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, not overly sweet, and pretty big. Oh, and definitely get the Frequent Buyer Card. Ask for it because most of the cashier's won't mention it. You get 1 point for every $1 you spend. For every 50 points, you get $5 off. A lot of times they are just standing around talking to each other and seem annoyed when a customer interrupts them. Do they realize that their job requires taking orders and helping people? I love that they are opening chains of Boudin SF in closer reach to us in So Cal. I came here last week with my bf for lunch. We got there around 11:45 and there was no line! It seemed like the customer in front of me was having some complications. Because while my cashier was taking my order, she was concentrated on the other customer that was talking to the manager. Regardless, I didn't have her full attention when taking my order. The food was brought to us within 5-10 minutes. So there really was no wait. When our food came was when there was a rush of people in line and waiting for a table. The place is a bit small, not too many seats indoors but there are outside seating. The food came...I got the soup and half sandwich lunch deal (~$9) and the soup was definitely not hot...barely warm. It was close to room temperature. I'm not sure how you like the soup but I like my soup warm, if not hot. But I do not like cold soup! But I was too hungry to say anything. The clam chowder tasted a bit off...it didnt have enough flavor and it didnt taste like it was seasoned, super bland. I usually love Boudins for their clam chowder but it just didn't cut it this time. The turkey and avocado sandwich was good though. And my boyfriend got the grilled cheese sandwich. That was amazing! When I am craving a turkey and avocado sandwich, this is my go to spot. I use the web to go so placing the order is effortless and I bypass the long lines when I pick it up. The sandwich itself is so delicious with the delectably soft bread with subtle nutty overtones (probably the best part), fresh turkey slices, avocado, a little dash of mayo and a slice of cheese. Sounds simplistic but when you put the high quality ingredients together between two slices of freshly baked bread, it's definitely a orgasm in the mouth! The next stop on my cookie quest led me to Boudin Bakery. With a price tag of only $1.95 per cookie, I had to try all five varieties: Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle and Oatmeal Raisin. Each cookie (except for the oatmeal raisin) tasted like a classic version of itself. The chocolate chip was crunchy outside and soft inside with a fair serving of chocolate chips. The white chocoloate macadamia nut was the best of this kind I have had in a while- buttery with ample white chocolate chips and macadamia nut pieces instead of large nut chunks. In the peanut butter cookie, I could have gone without the salted peanuts mixed in. The cookie was soft and slightly chewy with a good flavor, though. The snickerdoodle was chewy yet fluffy and had just the right amount of cinnamon sugar topping. The oatmeal raisin cookie wasn't deserving of the name "oatmeal raisin".
