We are on the tail end of a 17 day road trip, and we've eaten at a LOT of "counter service" restaurants during our travels. This was one of our favorites! The location was convenient, right off the highway. Easy parking too. This was our first visit to a Boudin's, but we were familiar with the brand from previous visits to Disneyland. The selection was good and easily accommodated our family of five (including a couple picky eaters.) Service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent. A significant notch above Panera. (Which we eat a lot, as we live in its hometown, where it's known as St. Louis Bread Co.) My 15 year old daughter has been talking about her turkey, bacon, and avocado almost every day since we ate there nearly two weeks ago. That's saying something... LOL read more

I normally order the family meal deal: Bread Bowl Soup and Sandwich Family Meal for 4. Which is a pretty good deal and comes with 4 cookies. I love Boudin and the clam chowder in a bread bowl. But omg! This is the 2nd if not the 3rd time they messed up my order(using the app, which exactly shows what I ordered). The last time when picking my order, they told me I had to wait for a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. I waited and they gave me one chocolate chip cookie, but they forgot to put the other 3 oatmeal raisin cookies, and found out when I got home, wasn't worth coming back for because I was tired and hungry already. This time, they forgot all 4 bread bowls!! I was calling and it just kept ringing. My husband had to go back to ask for them. The manager just told the food preparer that they do come with bread bowls‍ and apologized. I don't think the manager himself was apologetic about missing something in the order and the inconvenience of my husband driving back to pickup the bread bowls. This place is a little on the pricey side, 2 side soups and 2 full sandwiches set me back about $30. Other than the price, the food was really good and so was the service. It wasn't very busy and I took my food home with me. We ordered a chili, and a clam chowder both really yummy. My son ordered the bacon grilled cheese sandwich, and I ordered the fig jam apple grilled cheese. My sandwich was amazing. I'm just not sure it was $9.50 amazing. All in all it was good, but pricey. UPDATE----still disappointed. Apparently things aren't looking good still this is the third mess up that occurs buying food from this Boudin location. Last time I ordered two chicken Caesar salad's and both of them came with no chicken and it was very disappointing and just recently I ordered two chicken Caesar salad's, toasted sandwich and a side of clam chowder I decided to give this place another chance but came up with an upset once again. As you can see on the receipt it clearly says side of clam chowder and they FORGOT THE CLAM CHOWDER!! Dissapointing! I was 3rd in line with 2 registers open. I waited 30mins before my turn and order 6 sourdough rounds and a cheese explosion bread. I was denied the sourdough rounds because we were not customers of the restaurant who were dining in so they I didnt have enough to spare which is BS since we were still customers even though we weren't dining in. I left annoyed and empty handed since they didn't have anything available. The SF locations would never have this issue. Several items from my takeout order were missing. The manager Stephanie found this to be quite humorous when I called on the phone to have it addressed. I was told they are not able to issue me a refund unless I go in. One of our fav stops on the way back from the bay to Folsom. Wish that they would open one in Folsom, it would be so popular with all of the families. They have one employee that has been there awhile they always has sparkles and fun outfits and has such a glowing personality. She really makes the store and always goes above and beyond with customer service. That is so rare nowadays. I very rarely stop & do a rating on a sandwich shop but this place is great. We stopped by around 5:30pm on a weekday 12/27. I am a religious Boudin lover and always have their bread stocked in my house. :) There were several employees standing, walking around ( I suppose they were doing their job.), but there was only one cashier. This was a dinner time even though it was a weekday. The cashier was extremely slow and the line started to form. I am not sure if she was new to the job or what. The fish bread for the kids meal were baked too much, darker in color and were very tough to chew. Our kids couldn't eat them unfortunately. My dish (half soup and half salad) was good. My husband tried the Chili for the first time and he didn't like it at all. He said it tasted like a canned chili. FYI, I love the Boudin sough dough and always will. Ate today at Boudin in Vacaville. Had half turkey sandwich and the claim chowder. It was terrible. Sandwich was dry as "HELL " and the chowder was like water. Don't wast your time with this place should have gone to Panera Bread. For the price I paid for this meal could have had steak dinner. Anyway they need to get it together. I came to the store after ordering my food online and once i was at the front, i came up to the front and all the people in the counter were just talking amongst themselves ignoring my requests. Poor customer service was given to me already. After speaking up. Someone finally came to me and i asked if i can pick up my food. Nobody even came up. The lady who finally noticed me, said, "does it say your name?, then its yours." After i got home. I found that a few items were missing. They even placed a note inside the bag that says "ask about brownies". Afterwards, I called this vacaville store and was transferred to the manager. Service to go is fast,phone in and it's waiting when you arrive. Service is polite and customer service a priority. The down side, the Caesar Salad comes with barely a thimble size of dressing, never enough to facilitate the entire Salad. Very simple review. When I'm craving a soup and salad combo, Boudin's is always a possible choice. What better way to eat soup, than in a bread bowl. I will sometimes option to get chili instead of soup, which they charge an extra $1 but not a big deal. Service is decent and the restaurant is usually clean. Good location as there are a lot of shops nearby including shopping outlets. When you get hungry after shopping, Boudin's is a nice place to rest your legs and have a bite to eat. read more

I really want to give them higher stars but what happened to me and my girl was UNACCEPTABLE and they did nothing to rectify the situation. We both ordered sandwiches to go, nothing crazy, and waited for them by the pick up counter. While we where waiting, we both could hear and tell that the cooks in the back where speaking Spanish and talking crap about us and any other guests that walked by. We grabbed our food and left. I had a suspicion that our food was not right so I checked it at the car. I had the totally wrong sandwich, and my girl asked for bacon and didn't get any, its almost like the cooks couldn't read the order slips. We went back inside and spoke to the manager who apologized and has the correct sandwiches made. We then got our 2nd sandwiches, my girls was totally correct, mine again was totally wrong. I asked for no guac. as I am allergic to avocado's and to use provolone cheese on Ciabatta bread. I again asked them to please make it per the order slip that the girl printed out. They then made it a 3rd time of which they got the bread right but still didn't put any cheese on it and left guac. Remember, this whole time, which has now been about 25 minutes since we came back in with the wrong order, the cooks have still be talking crap in Spanish so that everyone can hear and no employees are doing anything about it. We said something to the manager about the cooks and she said "yes we know, they have been warned before " and did nothing about it! I finally got my correct sandwich and we left. The food was great. I even took the time to write a compliant to Boudin SF on their main website and explained the whole situation as its not right for employees to treat customer that way. I NEVER heard from anyone at Boudin's, not an email, not a phone call, nothing. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 was the food was great and the manager gave us a bunch of free soup and bread while we waited and gave us a bunch to take home too. My suggestion is to stay away until the find some new employees that actually care about their customers service. read more

It was later in the afternoon so it wasn't too busy. I spent awhile looking at the menu because I couldn't decide if I wanted a bread bowl or my go to "salad" as usual.
