Just when I think they can't get any better here, they somehow do! Every time we go in, which is quite often, everyone is so kind and helpful. Today, they went way beyond for us. As soon as we walked to the counter, the cashier gave us two sourdough turtles for our kids. Even when we were sitting there eating, an employee came to check on us like they always do, came back with two apple sauces for our kids. We didn't ask for them, they just brought them for us. They really go above and beyond and make us feel so welcome and special. Eveyone is so pleasant and helpful which is why we love Boudin and will keep coming back. I can say this place is aimed to please their customers. We came in today and got a calm chowder bowl and ceaser salad, and french dip. I know calm chower is fishy but it was too over powering so my husband had stopped someone who was running some food if he could exchange the bowl for another soup. Which was fine. But what I also liked was the manager stepped over also and said they will replace it with another soup and it's on its way out. I love Boudin and whenever I'm in SF I make sure to get a bowl of clam chowder. I am glad there is a Boudin nearby. The clam chowder bowl is a must, and I HIGHLY recommend it. The salads are great, especially the one with Apple and Walnuts. Service is fast, and they deliver your order to your table. Make sure to place your number on top of your table onto to some sort of wire. However, this particular Boudin is lacking something in their sandwiches. I ordered the Turkey and avocado sandwich. The bread was too powdery, and when I was holding the sandwich I can feel the excess flour. Anyways, I'll give another try. :) read more

I wish I could resist Boudin! Vacaville has just about every "chain" restaurant. Despite all the options, I somehow always end up here. I have ordered Boudin to-go and I have eaten in the restaurant. (I love eating on their patio!) Every time I have had a positive experience with great quality food and solid customer service. The one time they forgot my bread bowl on a to-go order, they made it up to me with a free loaf of bread. Gestures like this go a long way in my book! Of course, you can't go wrong with clam chowder in a bread bowl. More recently, they have added a kale chicken caesar salad to the menu- which is also delicious. You know I would expect a Boudins next to the freeway to be super busy and impersonal . This location was on point ! The Resturant was clean the staff were super friendly and very engaging . I was able to chat with a few of the staff and they were very informative on the menu and any other topics related to the Resturant. I even had a chance to talk to the manager , what a cool guy he was. Its nice to hear when a company like Boudins puts so much into their employees. My boyfriend and I came in around 11:30 yesterday. The food was really good, their clam chowder bread bowl and bacon grilled cheese was so good. An older lady served us our food and she was so kind and so sweet really genuinely nice. The only thing I was alarmed by was the woman taking our order, she seemed like she was irritated at me for ordering. Maybe it was a bad day for her, either way we still had a good lunch. I did notice her get progressively irritated at other customers during our visit. She snapped at people for asking about fountain drinks (me included). My boyfriend and I work in customer service and it was a little surprising since all the other staff members were so welcoming and polite. I would definitely come back despite that one interaction. "Salad" aka "just a little pile of lettuce" was completely underdressed and had to request a side of dressing for it. Chips were standard chips from a bag. The table clearing person (50-60ish or so female) was a bit aggressive as we both literally were in stages of bringing food up to our mouths/chewing and she stopped us for us to hand her the table number....but she couldn't be heard outside over the next tables kids so she was talking and pointing between us from the end of the table....to the other end of the table. I remember going to Boudin's in SF whenever we would visit Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf. It was almost a tradition to get the bread bowl of chowder when we went because that's what you do when you go to the City! Now that there is one here in Vacaville, we can get the bread bowl any time. Other places sell chowder or soup in a bread bowl but we always compared it to Boudin's! The difference is definitely the bread! Although not expensive, a bread bowl and drink will cost you around $10, you may not be as satisfied by the amount of chowder they put in the bread bowl. So be prepared to order something else or eat the entire bread bowl! The new shopping center they are in is not designed well so be ready to wait for cars as they are backing out or deliver trucks to be in your way. I love the Boudin Restaurant in San Francisco. I can't get there often so this is a great way to get my sourdough fix.
