Came here on a weekend for brunch so I expected some potential lag in service but I still left feeling a bit disappointed. Parking on the lot was valet (free but unexpected - nothing wrong afterward though!). The food was great (we did have to wait for water for about 20 minutes :/) but having my credit card out of my sight for approximately 15 minutes before an explanation on what was happening was given is not okay. I was told there was a mix up (by then I was already waiting a bit anxiously because it took a while to get the bill to begin with) where upon taking care of my bill, they had said it was paid in cash instead of with my card. The waitress that advised this did bring the bill and my card over to show what happened, which I appreciate, before taking it back to get it sorted out (another 10 for it to return). Please, if at all possible, find a way to fix your staffing on busy weekends. :( read more

This place is awesome! You can get anything you want on or off the menu -- and the menu ain't bad folks! We've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner numerous times and its all been very consistent and delectible! The service is fast and efficient and the owners are very friendly. Great variety all around (staff, food, ambience) -- something for everyone. The place can get a bit packed at night and on the weekends, but its worth the wait. The Thai Salad rocks along with any of the hamburgers -- just throw a dart at the menu and you'll find something delightful! This is way better than outdated Joe's and just a quick hop skip & jump on and off the freeway. If you love great food, you'll love Boulevard Cafe! read more

We just had a great dinner here! The hostess and servers were all really welcoming and friendly. It was Saturday night, about 8:30 and they weren't super packed... which to us was a good thing (we were starving and have a 5 month old). We started off with the coconut shrimp, which was great. I had some kind of sandwich (tuscan maybe?) eggplant, peppers, mozzarella, pesto. It was a little bland, but with a little salt was good. My husband got the italian mac and cheese, which was really good. I wanted to try several of their desserts, but we were stuffed, so we shared the apple pie... it was good... i really wanted the pumpkin bread pudding.. maybe next time. I remember this as the old Lyons and when Lyons closed the empty place was sad. Boulevard is a great spot for all 3 meals. The wedge salad is a meal by itself. I find it hard to find good/great hot wings. Boulevard can do good/great wings. Just ask for hot wings (the menu shows barbecued wings) but they have done the hot wings for me when I ask. They used to be on the menu when they first opened dont know why they got taken off. The wait staff has always been great to me and family. Not sure how many owners there are but there always seems to be 3 guys who look like the are owners. The chef is one of them, they ask how you doing? How was meal? All my breakfasts have been great. I just went there for breakfast and ordered two eggs sunny side up, not runny. As it is a health hazard if it is. They brought the eggs, overcooked and burned around the edges. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she took them back and I expected another couple of eggs in short order. The next thing I knew, one of the owners came back with the original eggs and asked me what the problem is in a very confrontational manner. I explained and he asked me how I would like them done. Due to his aggressive behavior, I told him to forget my order and waited for others in my party to finish and we left. Be careful what you order, if you don't like it, they will confront you and embarrass you in front of other people. Pretty good food. I would come back here if I was craving the more upscale diner type comfort food. I got mashed potatoes and meat loaf and you ususally can't go wrong with that, my sis got a cobb salad and that was really good as well. Huge portions with an okay price tag, not too expensive, but not a great deal either. I've been going to BLVD for about 4 years now and I keep coming back because it is comfortable, dependable, and I can always find parking, which is a nice change from SF. The breakfast is the best in Daly City and is served until 2! For lunch or dinner, the avgolemono soup is delicious as is the Mediterranean plate. My boy loves the burger, the Moose, and all of the Mac-N-Cheese options. If I am feeling in need of serious comfort food I order the Pot Roast with Orzo. The early bird special is a deal, especially nice if you are going to the movies afterwards. When my girls meet here for breakfast they always get the bananas foster french toast and the Swedish pancakes. If you want diner food with a little twist at a reasonable price and good service, go to Boulevard Cafe. read more

Down home hospitality is what you get here. Every time I come here, I feel like I am at my mom or grammy's house and they are making me food. The food is delicious! If you are a regular, they get to know you by name around here. I recently had the sweet potato fries (yum with ranch dressing) and the meatball side platter. Not a fan. Ate here for the first time ever and I am a Daly City resident. My first impression walking in was a weird cheese, feces, style odor. Smelled like a Geriatric patient. Since 75% of those dining here are 60+ years old. Or maybe it was the Gorgonzola from the Mac and Cheese? Anyhoo, I had a Club Sandwich...would have been good if the bread wasn't so hard. My girlfriend had the asian chicken salad. Not worth $9.99 in my opinion. Had better elsewhere. We both shared Calamari for appetizer, the breading didn't stick to the squid. Our server had a fake appeal all throughout. However, she did a good job of re-filling my soda without being asked. This place is definitely better quality than Denny's but I can't say I'd recommend it. We were on our way to Nation's and decided to go to Boulevard Cafe. This time not so good! I ordered the fried chicken from other people's review and my hubby ordered a hamburger. Other tables where the people came after us were served before us. We finally got our food from another server. Our server came by and sad, Oh you have your food!!! I think she forgot! Hubby said his hamburger was good. I could tell the fried chicken was frozen and then fried. It was not made by the restaurant. My hubby works for a frozen food distributor and I've had frozen fried chicken before. It was good for frozen chicken but surprised they served it. 1/2 way through eating the restaurant lost power and had to turn away other customers. Been here a few times and for the most part I have always been pleased, primarly had dinner, however I had the prime rib special and I suggest you stay away. While it was good,it was very fatty, so much so that I brought it to the managers attention.She somehow felt that they served me a 16oz piece and said prime rib can be fatty, but when half the plate is fat that is not 16oz.. The staff is friendly, can be a little slow. The manager does need to dress like a manager as she was in grey jeans, flannel shirt with a t-shirt...the staff looked better dressed than her. You like pasta or unique salads?? then check this place out. Their salad menu has about 12 different salads, all delicious and decorated beautifully. The pasta is a bit expensive about $16 a plate but the portion is filling and I often have to bring home leftovers. The clam spaghetti with fresh clams still in their shell is my very favorite. Not to mention their happy hour in the lounge is awesome and the bartenders are cool as hell. very relaxed place, I notice a lot of people dress up when they go here, it gets very very busy on the weekends, its best to call a head, and they have valet parking, so that is a plus. read more

I can always rely on this place for a good meal at a good price. I always come here with friends and people to grab a bite for dinner. It is very nice-looking with a big eating room and a bar room that have TVs. There's a good amount of parking in the area including their parking lot. The breakfast at this Daly City spot is good with average prices. I would have given it three stars four months ago, until I noticed a change taking place that could destroy the brand built since their opening. During the first few years after opening, they respected sophisticated bar customers by only staffing the bar with professional bartenders. Lately, for some reason, it appear, Boulevard Café is no longer employing professional bartenders, and the few that are still left are now leaving or decided to work in the restaurant. I do not know if they decided to save money and hire bar-backs (which are like an intern) to staff the bar or they have concluded people in Daly City are not demanding. Do they think a bartender's sole job is to make drinks? Yes you can teach a bar-back cocktail recipes or provide them a book of cool recipes, but to be a good bartender is so much more than just combining ingredients. It is crucial for a bartender to have good communication skills with the customers and not just the latest sport scores and have the essential to relate in a professional manner to the guest. Skill is something that can be taught, it take years working in a good bar to become a good bartender. The ability to communicate at many levels, good customer skills, and confidence, cannot be taught it is something that is gained by being 100% certain of your abilities and limitations. A great bartender has the utmost confidence in what they are doing when they are behind the bar and that confidence is communicated to the customers. I like where Boulevard is today. The brunch options are great and there's always something great on the menu whether its dinner, lunch or breakfast. We are regulars and we absolutely love this place especially when it isn't busy and ONLY for breakfast. They do breakfast "right" here. Everything else beyond breakfast is sort of blah. Heed my warning; we've tried to play the lunch and dinner game many times and it has always resulted in bland, lackluster food and bad experiences. First I would like to start by saying, since the restaurant opened, I'm usually the person raving about Blvd Café, but after my last visit, I definitely won't be that person again. Sunday morning, I decided to eat at the bar and drink Mimosas. The two monitors directly in view had the Giants game and the NBA playoff game between BOS and CLE. After approximately one hour of watching the NBA game, a customer enters the bar and fist bumped the bartender. Few minutes later he asked if he would change the NBA game to the Chicago Blackhawks game. Without any hesitation or asking if anyone mind if he changes the channel, he simply changed to the Blackhawks game. I am posting since I am amazed, a restaurant the size of Blvd Café would not train/hire staff with the basic knowledge of food service. Courtesy is one of the key elements in the service industry and for a restaurant not to demand it from staff is beyond all reason. After finally approaching the bartender, his response, "Sorry, but 20 other customers also asked for the Blackhawks game. It should be noted, most of the other customers were seniors, and not once did I hear a request for the Blackhawks. Even, if that was true, its not a reason to be unprofessional and display a lack of courtesy. read more

Went to dinner last night at Boulevard Cafe! We were a party of 12 what a delightful experience. The appetizers are delicious! My favorite is the prawn cocktail. For my entrée I had the lamb chops, so delightful! Our complete party was totally satisfied with every appetizer/entrée. The California mac & cheese is another favorite. I just moved to the neighborhood and decided to try this place out. It was suuuuper busy so the wait was a little long, but I didn't mind. I understand the service business. We get sat and the server was the same person that sat us. His name was Sam. Friendly and attentive, what more can we ask for? I ordered just a regular burger, but it was great. Sam suggested that we should try the garlic fries and I am in love with them now. So good. We were offered dessert, but that burger had me so full. The food and price are good but the service is in a severe decline. If you order wine before you order your food, you will get your wine after your salad and maybe during your entre. Order a carafe of Chablis (the house white wine) and you will get a blank look. It is on their menu but it is like the servers never heard of it. They may ask if you want red wine. It was not always this way it use to be pretty good service but I don't see the manager there, who may have been one of the owners. The great bartenders, Marcel and Will are gone. Wow. I have been coming here for 2 years now and only continue to come because of the amazing bar tenders! Mimi, Chelsie, curstin, Rodrigo, hanna and Jose. They are always taking care of there customers and attentive. Not only is the ceviche gone before happy hour starts it never exists. So my friend ordered wings and fries. After 30 mins of not receiving the wings after everyone else that ordered around us had gotten there food. So as a good service they crook care of the wings. While I was paying the kitchen manager and Manger ruby decided that we should pay for the wings because they were eaten. Not sure who the owners of this restaurant are but I never write yelp reviews . To this situation I had too. Your management team needs to be more professional and understanding and thankful for there workers. I have been in the industry for 17 years and have never seen such poor management thankfully you have a great staff, but you will lose all of them soon.
