Decided to give this place a chance. We were the only table in there at 6pm. We ordered the coconut shrimp - it only came with 4 shrimp for 15 dollars. It was the best part of the meal by far. The filet that we ordered medium came out burnt to a crisp and even the sear was burnt beyond belief. I would have ordered something else but the only 2 servers sat behind the bar, on their phones talking the 15 minutes without checking on us. The onions, mushrooms also had an overwhelming burnt taste. Mac and cheese below par and the roll was hard and tasteless. I have been to Bovine 5 times since I moved here in July. The first time it was ok. Not spectacular but ok. The 2,3, 4 times and I was with friends and was satisfied more than the first time. Steak was cooked rare- it was delicious- baked potato- great. So far fairly consistent- but then last night happened- I ordered my usual- but they were out of potatoes on a Friday night?!? Really? I couldn't eat other of the sides so I had to settle with tomatoes. Quite a jump from a loaded baked potato to 5 meager slices of tomato- but I did get a steak- but unlike the other times- this was gross. It was mostly fat and gristle. I don't eat fat and gristle. It was disgusting. Then the bun was stale- like a rock- wtf! With that said- I did complain and they did take the 29.00 charge off my bill- for the dinner - which I appreciated. I paid for my drink and left a 20 tip because I know it wasn't his fault. So rating this place is hard. Between time 1 which was just eh ok. To 2,3,4 being ok to good and the 5th time gross but they were fair with the bill. .. I will give the place a 3 out of 5. I mean here we are in Texas- steak is a given- so to have a bad cut or not consistently prepare it- zero excuse. There are other steak places out here that are consistent with a steak. I've been here well over 7-8 times and I consistently get the same good quality of food and service. Great steak. It's a great atmosphere, feels small, while also having a menu that has enough variety. It's a perfect spot for a good quick date or nice meal. They do a good job bartending. While it has been open for a while, we just made our first visit to Bovine. Clearly, it has a wide selection of steaks and adds, but on this trip we went for other items. But, first it has great decor. Up front are a few tables and the bar. Another seating area is in the back and that is where we were seated. It was the slow time of the afternoon and only a few customers were there. The bar area is fairly small so, and it's just a guess, would get pretty cramped if it got busy. But, crowded bars can be fun! Like anything on Main in Midlothian parking can be a hassle,but we were there early. Also there is parking in the back and a convenient rear entry way. The area where we were seated is away from the bar and nice simple tables. Appetizer was the Chips and Salsa. It was the only thing we were not impressed with. We would either skip appetizers or try something else. We had one of the specials.. 2 small chicken breast with roasted tomatoes and topped with mozzarella cheese. Comes with one side and with this entree we had a loaded baked potato. Very good choice. Second order was the chicken fried steak and onion rings as the side. Again, just fantastic and the pepper gravy was perfect. With an iced tea the bill was only $45 before tip. And we could have saved a few bucks on that without the chips. If I could give this less I would! We called the day before we went to make reservations. The hostess took our info and disconnected. When we arrived on time for our reservation, we were told that there would be a 40 minute wait to be seated. What is the point of a reservation if our party still has to wait 40 minutes to be seated. The hostess said they were recently slammed and there was nothing they can do. She also mentioned that they only make reservations 20 to 30 minutes ahead of arrival. The hostess on the phone didn't provide this information. This is unacceptable and not the way to run a business. read more

My dad was a little upset they didnt have the Titos Vodka he wanted with his drink. But it didnt bother me because it happens. After we ordered the time before the meal wasnt that bad of a wait. When we got our meal it looked really good. But my mom was missing her side dish. So my mom called the waitress and she said she forgot to tell us that they were out of potatoes. I visited Bovine last weekend and was really hoping for a great new place to have a steak in Midlothian. The place is VERY small and tables are close together. It was a little uncomfortable and hard to have a conversation with another party that close to us. If you do decide to go sit next to the wall. The wedge salad was a good size portion but the lettuce was yellow and bitter. The steaks were nice and cooked as ordered. The baked potatoes were horrible. Hard and not done or maybe reheated from a previous day. The worst part of the experience was the service. Very, very slow. Asked for water when we first arrived. Asked for it a couple more times and Finally got some when the steaks arrived. Also took a long time to bring sour cream for potato. As it turned out the sour cream couldn't even help the pitiful potato. We never did get any butter for the rolls. There were only four tables of people dining that night and multiple wait staff. Really no excuse for the slow service. I do hope that it was just hiccups of being new but the fact that there were only a handful of people there on a Saturday night at 6:30 pm does not seem promising. read more

We finally get a date night and a babysitter so we go out for steak to only have one of the worst food experience we've ever had. We both ordered the NY strip medium rare. The NY strip arrived , unlike any other Ny Strip we've ever seen. The cut that arrived was interesting to say the least. When we cut into them they were both rare and cold to the touch (like refrigerator cold). We kindly pointed this out to our waitress and she agreed with our assessment. She returned our food to the kitchen and came back with our SAME plates (to clarify: the SAME cut in half steaks and same sides) with cold sides and over done steaks. We kindly declined our plates and agreed to pay for our appetizer and beverages an asked for our check. Not once did a manager come over to apologize! Not once was there any offer to remedy the situation. So when it was all said and done we paid our $75 tab and tipped the waitress as if the meal was not taken off.
