Unfortunately they were recommended by my property manager. I do not recommend this company as they were not able to fix the ac, despite being out there at least 2 times, It turns out that the parts used were incorrect and things were not wired properly. Jay is very knowledgeable and able to solve my heater's problem that other technicians can't.

I had used Bradford Air & Heating Co. for close to ten years for annual heater and air conditioner inspections. I had had a couple of air conditioner parts that went out over the years. I had always found Jay to be responsive and informative. Late December 2025 I had a heater issue that went unrecognized at first because it was so cold out and I figured that the heater was just having to work harder than usual. After two months of extreme bills plus not really feeling that the house was heating, I called Bradford and left messages three times over the course of ten days. I never received a call back. I got a recommendation from a neighbor for a different contractor who replaced a bad part as well as replacing the thermostat (at my request due to programing inconsistencies). It was disheartening to learn from the new contractor of connectivity issues (done by the original Cal State Program contractor) regarding wiring to the A/C from the control panel and inconsistencies in the programming between the control panel and the thermostat that Bradford should have recognized and corrected at some point over the past ten years. Very disappointing. I will no longer be using Bradford going forward. read more

Our A/C quit on us. Turns out it was incredibly corroded and (as it turns out) poorly installed - surprising it has been working as long as it has. So we called Bradford. They very helpfully diagnosed the problem and recommended a few fixes. In the end we performed the maintainence ourselves, in part because my wife has a father who runs an HVAC business of her own. I'm downgrading my original review because one of the fixes Bradford recommended was recommending a new A/C for our house - in particular, a very, very substandard brand (at least, as per my father-in-law), one that apparently shocked him. It's apparently cheap and poorly regarded amongst professionals, according to him. So, my recommendation for Bradford is now.... middling. I'm not sure they are the ones you want to go to if you need a new system. However, for repairs, maintainence, etc. - they've treated us well. So there you go. read more

Stay away from Bradford Air and Heating!!! They showed up an hour and a half late for my dryer vent cleaning. A day or two after they left, we realized that the top of our dryer had visible dents that weren't there before, and the dryer was making strange noises, in addition to condensation around the dryer itself. Turns out the guys who came out didn't clamp the vent hose to my dryer, only to the wall. After calling to explain the situation, Jay, the service manager, also the highest person in the organization, believed his employees over the customer. He said "well, the story my guys are giving me and what you're telling me are different, so, sorry". He said that his employees asked me a couple questions, when they did not. They laid on top of my dryer per Jay. And per the "contract" I signed, it said that the company wasn't liable for any damages done to the dryer, so Jay said he wouldn't compensate me for the damage. The only thing I got comped was a refund for the dryer vent cleaning. All in all, a rather horrible customer service experience and a terrible company as well. I'd recommend literally anyone else to clean your dryer vent. read more

Updating my review from 2009 - wow, it's been that long! Even back then he had been taking care of us "for years". Jay has been taking care of our furnace and air conditioner for decades now. He's terrific - always goes above and beyond the call of duty and is very reasonable.  He even drives down to south San Jose! Anthony and Brandon are top-notch specialists in helping us clear our dryer systems. My whole family is so happy and grateful for their excellent service and care. Background: We have multiple units in the same building. None of our dryers are drying clothes properly. It would take 3-4 runs to dry a batch of clothes. We thought we needed to replace all of the dryers but we spoke to Bradford Air and Heating. They came initially to diagnose the problem and provided a fix from the external view, but when we realized that the other units in the building didn't get solved, Anthony and Brandon came back and diligently diagnosed the problems and took the time to properly fix each dryer piping. Bradford Air and Heating: They were careful with Covid protocols knowing we have unvaccinated toddlers and family members in the high-risk category. They were shoe protection indoors and happily wore N95 masks throughout the grueling procedures. They were efficient and even took the time to properly explain the logic for some of the difficulties we were experiencing. On top of that, they suggested ways for future protections and even looked into our heating unit to make sure other parts of our house were taken care of. Conclusion: I will highly recommend Bradford Air and Heating and definitely see if you can get Brandon (who has a great sense of humor) and Anthony (who is diligent in making sure each step of the procedure is followed) to come service your house. - super happy customer read more

This is a review for Jay, Susan, Gustavo, and Alex because they are good and HONEST people. Sadly, Gustavo and Alex tried but were unable to do my air duct cleaning because the company who did the air duct work put the flaps in the wrong spot. Consequently, Gustavo and Alex couldn't get their cleaning hose in far enough to do any good. Instead of continuing with the job and charging us, they explained the problem, gave us a recommendation for a company that could service our unusual system, packed up, and left without charging us for all of their time and effort. Our home was going through some remodeling in the backyard and we needed our AC moved off the dirt patch it was on so we could put pavers in its place. We wanted to then have the AC put back and then moved towards our fence line which meant longer wire / cables. I was able to get quotes from different companies and Jay with Bradford was by far the most reasonable. He's down to earth and seems like a straight shooter. He was prompt in scheduling our needs and was timely start to finish. The other companies I connected with aren't even worth mentioning due to their price and timing. I contactEd Jay's Heating and Air to come install my Nest Thermostat. Jay came out and informed me that the wiring from unit wouldnt work with Nest, unless I ran another wire from the unit to the inside house. OK. Then I asked about my existing heating and air unit's low air output. Jay went iut to look at it and said there was rust inside and it wouldn't be lasting much longer. He said he could put a 3.5 ton unit in and guaranteed that would fix the air flow problem. Believing him, because a good friend referred him, and he installed the new unit. This unit's air flow didn't blow any harder. I called him out to inspect it. He said he adjusted the output to push harder and I should notice a difference. Well I did. He replaced the air filter. Still no improvement. Winter came and after a few hours, no heat came out. Then he tells me the supply and return lines were criss crossed He said the crawl space hole was too small and I would have to cut a hole in the bedroom closet for better access to the unit. Hus tech came out and said he would have to pull all the ductwork out to get access to the plenum, replace the ductwork with ne material after he fixed the supply and return. Now he wants me to pay him to fix this after almost a year of not using my system. All because he didn't want to crawl under from one end of the house to the other. Charges me for a New Unit. New unit didn't fix my problem. Now wants me to pay him to fix my ductwork that caused my original low air flow problem. Do yourself a favor and don't use Jay. gets your money for a new unit, then wants you to pay to fix the original problem. Shame on you Jay! read more

About two years ago, Jay came out and fixed a pipe and recharged our system for a price that was nearly half what we were quoted at the time. This month, we had Jay come out to a different address to find out what is wrong with our system, the diagnostic fee wasn't too bad, but the quote for parts seemed steep to me, and since it's not my house thanks for the $50 diagnostic, but I replaced the capacitor myself. If something really breaks, I will shop around, but this guy will still be on my list of people I will call. read more

We had a great experience - our AC went down during the initial heat wave of the season and when we called to request service. Jay was able to schedule a diagnostic appointment for the next day. Adding to my Landlord's review -- To begin, the heating installation Jay did on the rental property less than a year ago is anything but professional quality (please see attached pictures). The quality of his work is lazy, slapped together and there's no attention to detail. As you can see in the pictures, he removed the original crawlspace door, replacing it with a broken piece of plywood, a couple bent hinges and incorrectly used screws. He then hacked out parts of the foundation and subfloor with no concern of structural integrity or cosmetic looks. I know that the crawlspace opening on the side of the house needed to be widened to accommodate the new furnace, but this the worst contract work I've ever seen. Moving on to the inside of the house -- Jay installed 4 floor heater vents. Two of the vents, in the kitchen and the bathroom, do not sit flush with the floor. In the pictures you can see they are not installed correctly and the aluminum flashing is sticking out of the side of one of them. When I asked him about this, he said it is fine and it will pass inspection. Clearly he doesn't care that his workmanship looks horrible. In addition, I asked Jay if I could purchase a Nest thermostat and if he could install it. He told me I had to use the thermostat he provided if I wanted the heater to be under warranty -- so I used his and not the Nest.The funny thing about that is, less than a year later the heater started going in and out and would blow cold air. I would have to turn it off and then turn it back on in order to get it to work again and blow warm air. I called Jay to let him know what was going on and my calls went unanswered for over a week. I also sent him an email, and never got a response. Frustrated and out of patience, he finally returned my call and said that he was booked until sometime next year and said that I should call someone else to come out and look at it. I told him that the heater is under his business's warranty and that my landlord shouldn't have to pay someone else to come out. He refused to honor his warranty as promised in the beginning. Jay is untruthful and unprofessional in the way he conducts his business, and i'll let the pictures speak for themselves on the quality of work he does. I will never do business with him again and would never recommend him to anyone. read more

Last weekend we discovered smoke in our dryer despite not using it for a few days. We called around to several vendors and it was suggested that we have Bradford Air & Heating come look at the situation as there was no obvious cause. Bradford answered our call immediately and Gustavo and Alex came later that same day. Our dryer vents underneath our deck and it is not easy to get to in order to inspect it. Despite this Gustavo literally got on his hands, knees and stomach and crawled under the deck to look at it more closely. During their inspection, they discovered the cause and quickly replaced the tube and made sure everything was working an in good order before they left. Not only did Gustavo and Alex solve the problem but they were exceptionally friendly and professional. We do not hesitate to recommend Bradford Air & Heating and will certain rely on Gustavo and Alex to help us in the future. read more

I was given Jay's name by a friend and I used him to service the furnace and AC for the past couple years in our rental home. He had the unfortunate job of telling me my furnace was not worth repairing and it needed to be replaced (after 24 years). Friday, November 6, 2015 Bradford installed a new wall heater in my small house last Friday, October 30th. Unit appeared to be working smoothly. When the temperature fell into the 40's the following Tuesday night, the heat went on once and shut off and then nothing thereafter. Wouldn't turn on manually. Another cold, cold house that night. Jay came out within hours of my call Wednesday morning, took front off the unit, manually reset the safety switch and checked other items to be help insure unit would come on automatically. Unit appeared to work properly. Wednesday early evening again it got cold fast. This time, unit wouldn't switch on automatically or by hand. I called him a second time around 7:00 p.m. Jay was able to get here within an hour and a half of my call. Jay determined the problem was probably a faulty unit safety switch, although unusual in a new unit. Since no source was open at that hour from which he could obtain the needed new switch, he came back next day and replaced it. Heater has worked on auto like a charm ever since. Yahoo! Thank you again, Jay, for being so diligent and willing to come back after hours to solve the problem with my new unit. In addition, your willingness to bring me small heaters to be sure I'd be warm enough in the night was also greatly appreciated. Thankfully, I had a couple of spares. You're a gem in my book! When our heater stopped working in December (brrrrrrrrrr) Bradford Air & Heating was the only company (with good reviews on Yelp) that could come out the same day to look at it. Jay was early to the appointment, very professional, knowledgeable, upfront about all of the potential costs and problems, and cleaned up before he left. He was able to get our heater working the same day. We decided to replace the very old furnace, ducting, and AC and Jay had all of the options listed in a program on his iPad so that we could see all of the costs and compare the different options. The costs and fees were transparent from the beginning. He put the cost of the repair toward our new units. His employee, Joel, was equally courteous and professional and installed our furnace in 1 day. The entire process took a couple of weeks since it was Christmas time (but we had heat this entire time as they installed the furnace right away) and the city had to approve permits, etc...Jay was in touch with us every step of the way and came by every day that work was being done. He made a few special trips to our house to speak with my husband about specifics and was never bothered by our many questions. I would highly recommend Jay and his team! Excellent customer service. Had an A/C unit that required routine servicing and filter change which Jay handled promptly and professionally. He was able to quickly identify and fix a loose fitting that could have resulted in a future replacement need at a much increased cost. We also discussed possible other A/C service needs which for many businesses is an opportunity to gain additional income, but he was honest in downplaying the need. Jay came out to diagnose our heater after it quit working, turns out filter was clogged and so was the trap, scheduled a cleaning and they showed up 20 mins early. Love it. Turns out the company that installed our heater put things in wrong pipes were going against gravity and unable to drain properly, they fixed the pipes at no extra charge to us. The technician came to my house and refused to look at the AC unit because it felt cool inside. Last night I turned off the AC and opened all my windows/doors and let fans naturally cool my house. The AC pipes have been freezing up and the temperature never gets cool when using the AC, so I know it's not functioning right. The technician still charged me $95 even though he only came to my door. Horrible customer service! Stay away! read more
