I'm never afraid to try BBQ anywhere in the South. Wasn't in my neck of the woods and met up with friends for lunch. We decided to try this place. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was cozy. The table was sticky but no biggie, as we tried to clean it off the young lady at the counter came with wipes and told us not to worry because she'd clean it off. The salad was great and the raspberry dressing was amazing. The food not so much. I had ribs and they did not even taste like they had been smoked or prepared on a grill, I really can not describe the taste but it wasn't good. The ribs were also too chewy. Nah. Just nah. I like to try BBQ when I'm in different towns, and chose this one because of the Yelp rating. I went in about 6:00 on a Tuesday. There were a few folks dining in and pretty much every other table was dirty. It looked like 4 kids working. One walked out from the back to take my order and just stared at me until I spoke. I got a plate with pork & chicken, Brunswick stew, and potato salad with an unsweetened tea. Pork was dry and not chopped very well, pretty much still in one piece. Had some cartilage in it. Chicken had an odd taste like it'd been laying in a dresser drawer. Potato salad had good consistency but was EXTREMELY salty. Brunswick stew was meh. Tea was weak, almost like water. Nothing was impressive about my visit. I ate about 1/3 of my food before I dropped it in the trash and headed to Moe's. Which is odd because I'm usually not very picky about food. read more

When I go to a BBQ joint I'm more interested in the pork than the sides and that's why I gave this spot 3 stars rather than 2. Photo is of the pork plate. The pork BBQ was definitely good and the sauces they provide are nice (one sweeter and one spicer). Loved the soft buttery Texas toast. The portion size is a good value. The difference between the Bradley's beans and baked beans is that the Bradley's beans are spicer and topped with some cheese. I actually liked them but they weren't really what you would expect at a BBQ joint. The mayo based slaw was ok (but in full disclosure I prefer vinegar based slaw to mayo based). read more

I really wanted to give this location a great review...sadly it was very disappointing. Voted #1 in Newton County....Really Ordered to go 2 racks of ribs large baked beans medium fries and Brunswick stew. $57 not including the $3 tip. Welp! Lets just say I probably won't be back to this location anytime soon. The ribs were hard not juicy at all. Meat so tough it felt like I was eating leather. I guess I got yesterdays ribs heated in the microwave served with the worst bbq sauce. It was to much vinegar. Upon arriving home as it took me 20 minutes from this location, the brown paper bag that contained a large bake beans, large Brunswick stew and large bbq sauce burst on to the ground all over my shoes and jeans! Beans and stew everywhere! UUGGHH! REALLY?! At least they could've put it in a plastic "thank you come again" bag. IRRITATING! Stopped in here for lunch while in Covington for work. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and Brunswick stew and it was delicious. I've had Brunswick stew before while visiting Georgia and this was some of the best I've had. It was a nice small place that was cozy feeling. The people were nice and the portions were large. Tried Bradley's for the first time tonight. I got a pulled pork sandwich, it was okay. Potato salad had no flavor & for the first time I found a Brunswick stew that I didn't care for. Not sure if it was a seasoning or if had been scorched. I didn't eat either side. My husband ordered ribs. They were so tough & chewy he only took a couple of bites & I gave him half my sandwich. I have stopped in here before and the food was OK. I got their 'Rack Special' a couple of days ago. The ribs must have been cooked afew days ago. They had been kept warm for so long they completely dried out and overcooked. The meat was dry and barely edible. I got Brunswick stew and potato salad as sides. The potato salad was pretty good. Ther only spice i could detect in the stew was salt, salt and more salt. I wish their food was better because they are very convenient for me. Overall the food has been very good here. Been here three times tried just about everything. 3 suggestions though. 1)grill both sides of the garlic bread. It's so much better. 2)a better variety of sauces would be fantastic. This joint gets 3.5 stars but I won't round it up to 4. Personable staff in a standard BBQ joint setting. All food was good, but nothing blew us away. Ribs were big and meaty but the meat was a bit tough and definitely not fall off the bone. Chopped pork sandwich was also decent. Sauces were pleasant but pretty average. Fries were average. Baked beans were the best thing we ordered; but still not a five star item. If you're walking around downtown Covington and must have BBQ this place could fit the bill. read more

Always try to eat local and support community restaurants. My kids and grandkids were coming home Saturday for an early Father's Day lunch. Not wanting to grill out or even "go out", I decided to let Bradley's do the cooking for me. Ordered $125 worth including 3 lbs of chopped pork, 2 racks of ribs, 3 qts of Stew, and a qt of slaw. I placed my order a day in advance and they had it ready right on time at 11:00 am on Saturday morning. Very happy that we could just set the table and sit down and eat...no sweating over the grill and not having to worry about our 3 month old grand baby crying in a restaurant. HOWEVER, lunchtime was a huge disappointment .... The chopped pork was so dry we threw out 2 of the 3 pounds we bought. Worst I've ever had hands down. The ribs were fairly good (not great) for reheated ribs and were all eaten ( can't just eat stew and slaw, right?). Stew was very good as was the slaw. BUT, the dry, tough, stringy chopped pork was enough to award only 2 stars. The young staff working was courteous and polite and I very much appreciated that aspect. BOTTOM LINE: Too many great BBQ joints around to be satisfied with poor quality chopped pork. read more

The decor is old and out dated and the staff was beyond rude. Owner if you are reading this you have some serious work to do. The female taking our order (she had blue ends on her hair) was not a good representation of your business. I asked her what the Bradley beans were and she said spicy pinto beans with cheese . I asked if there were onions in them and she said "I guess not since I told you they were spicy pinto beans with cheese and didn't say onions". What? Seriously? Then I asked if the baked beans had onions and her response was no one ever told her they had onions so she guessed not. We won't be back. Average food HORRiBLE service. Darn good BBQ. Their ribs are just as good if not better than Fox Bros in ATL. Delicious smoky flavor even without sauce, and very tender. Pulled pork is moist with good flavor. Love their Brunswick stew as well. Only thing I wasn't crazy about was the Texas toast--just too greasy for me. I usually just get a pound of pork with sauce to go, and slap it on some good old white bread at home. Haven't tried their burgers or desserts but they sound good. I live in Blairsville, so we know good BBQ (Jim's Smokin Que and Joe's in Blue Ridge). This was good stuff. Great flavor, great sauces. ( Mountain BBQ is still a little bit better) Combine that with proximity to the square, and friendly service, you got a true winner. Also, the portions are very fair for the price. I got some ribs and pulled pork (and sides) for lunch, and finished them for supper. Yeah, the portion, and the price, were right for two lunchtime meals, but absolutely no complaints.
