I Yelped for quotes on alternator repair; CBA was one of the providers Yelp suggested. I don't…read morerecommend them. Period. Summary: Cost -- 30% - 50% higher higher than other providers. Communication -- slow to respond, several instances of completely ignoring my contacts / questions. They didn't offer critical info / details when it should have been provided. Time Issues -- took my car in midmorning Thursday and didn't get it back until midday the following Monday. A five hour wait just to hear confirmation the problem was the alternator, which could have been provided in less than half hour. Details: COST: $1616 total for alternator replacement. $447 for remanufactured alternator. $94 for 2 gallons of antifreeze. A new alternator can be had for less (half the) money. They didn't offer / discuss any options on this choice of parts. Not typical in my experience. There's a spectrum of quality and cost on any auto part, so usually parts choice usually involves a discussion. Nope, the topic of choices didn't come up. They'll likely say the couldn't offer their "3 year warranty" on a cheaper part. Blah blah blah. Ask me if there's choices on what it costs me, don't assume. And $94 for 2 gallons of coolant?!? It's currently $10 / gal. from Walmart. So, a 400% markup? This gets to me because it's so obvious a gouging. It makes me wonder -- Where else I'm being gouged that's not something I can readily see??? Anyway, let's review CBA website where it's gushing about having my "best interests in mind", shall we? A 400% mark-up is needlessly not in my best interests. Anyway, from other shops I got repair estimates (parts + labor) ranging from mid-$700's to $1100. Brakes Plus quoted me (in person -- after the fact) "out the door" of $868. So, yeah, I got gouged going with CBA. COMMUNICATION: Besides the Yelp project no responses, my texting with them (at their promoting me to text any questions) was unsatisfactory. Unprompt responses, no responses to at least half my my texts. Ignoring a question altogether? Sheesh. TIME ISSUES: They were all over me checking in my car ASAP, which ended up being 10:30. 'They'd do the diagnostic and get back with me.' Well, my timeline experience with repair like this: Tech plugs in the code reader, gets the codes, looks up them. 10 minutes for that. Lookup parts + labor costs. 10 more minutes? Gives me a call. If it's reasonable, I approve it and they start the work. Tech calls me if there's something else to discuss / suggest. We talk it over, but meanwhile the repair doesn't get put off. But with CBS an hour after the check-in (they were in a helpful hurry to do), I texted them. "Are you sending the diagnosis?" 30 minutes later: "Yes'. Well, FIVE hours after check-in, they finally text " your report is ready." 'Yes, it's the alternator, plus here's the diagnostic list (inferred: of everything else we want to sell you).' Service manager calls me, we review the report that LISTED NO COSTS AT ALL (yes , I'm yelling -- this is not "transparency" [a word they toss about a lot], this is manipulation). My wife and I understood him to say the cost would be $1018 or something close to that. I say something like, "Okay, do the repair. Send me a breakdown of all the other stuff. It's so close to closing time you won't get the alternator done tonight, so I have time to look over the list and see what else I might approve, right?" He agrees, "Yes, take your time." Subsequently I looked at the separate report with actual estimates. Shocking. The "$1018" was actually $1564. I made the mistake of hesitating to approve the repair, result of which bumped me behind another car. Final result -- they had my car from 10:30 on Thursday until midday on Monday -- for a 4-6 hour job. There's more I could gripe about, but I'll shut up now. Bottom line, I understand making a profit, but this profit was out of line. I will say that everyone was very pleasant to interact with. But someone can be nice to your face and still be less than competent in helping you. Someone can act friendly even while over charging you. Fun Fact: they sent me Tell Us How We Did link before they had even done the repair. I went to use the link a day or two after I had my car back. But the link had expired. I'd rather have given them a chance to address things in private but I got timed out -- in error, I'd say.

Service was a in house rebuild on a 2006 F150 transmission. Mike takes care of the rebuilds and his expertise shows. Oh I guess now is a good time to mention that this vehicle has 439,000 plus miles on it. And the transmission had never been touched as far as repairs, just fluid and filter changes when I remembered they were due. They stand behind the work and do understand the customers needs. Had a slight issue after picking the truck up that was promptly addressed even though it was actually not related to the rebuild. My shift cable was so old that it would not retain adjustment. It was 20 years old at least. Mike found the issue and actually walked me out so I could see what was happening. Part was ordered, wrong part was shipped over to there shop twice due to it not matching the vin number. When they found the part number after removal. Nadira actually ran and picked it up to help expedite the repair. Mike took care of the labor to install and I just paid for the cable. They didn't have to do this, this was above and beyond since this was not related to the actual work preformed or quoted. Transmission has about 350 miles on it now and wow its working way better than I could have dreamed of shifts are on point and smoother than I would have ever dreamed off. Way to go, This shop is on my highly recommend list and I will be taking all my business here if the need ever arises. Shop has my vote for business of the year, way to go to the whole crew involved. He suggested I find a place specializing in electrical. They didn't try to nickel and dime me and charge an inspection fee. For a Saturday they were pretty busy and the parking lot was full. It's Sunday 8/9/26 at 8:30am and our car overheats in a drive thru and we had to keep turning it off. Luckily we were a few miles from home and let it cool so we could drive instead of walking 2 miles in 100+ temps. Christian Brothers put us in a really dangerous position. When we had to get the Ford fixed for the second time that was a red flag that we should've listened to. But because we needed our overheated Trax towed, it was easiest to go with Christian Brothers. Let me tell you... Do you not take the easy way out because of the "free tow" because after $1300 our car is still not fixed and now we have to take PTO and rearrange our schedules all over again. I don't think it's a free tow anyhow; I'm sure it's added to the cost of the car services.

Jenny Bastanchury was my service advisor and provided excellent service at every step. The car arrived shifting hard and shuddering at low speeds. Litchfield Auto Repair's mechanics quickly discovered what the large chain shop missed. A damaged transmission bracket was causing excess vibration and had been destroying my motor and transmission mounts. There were also other issues that needed attention, and the team walked me through each one clearly. Litchfield Auto Repair diagnosed excessive engine movement and rebuilt the entire engine and transmission mount set-up using modified brackets because original parts for a 2000 Cavalier are no longer available. They replaced the left front CV axle, installed a new air conditioning compressor, performed a complete R134a evacuate and recharge service, and coordinated a full transmission rebuild. Per my request, Jenny tried to source new old stock parts for the job, but in some cases, they were not available. After all the work was completed, the Cavalier drove smoother and stronger than it has in years. Their pricing was fair, their communication was clear, and the quality of their work was outstanding. Jenny and her mechanics really listened to my input and provided superior service compared with what I had experienced at other shops over the last 12 years. On August 20th, I brought my truck to AAMCO for a P0871 code, which indicates a valve-body issue…read more After inspection, the owner, Danny, recommended a new transmission (initially quoted at ~$6,000) without providing a formal written estimate. The work was completed, and I picked up the truck on August 28th. After driving less than 100 miles, the same P0871 code reappeared on August 29th, throwing the truck into limp mode. Danny agreed to pick it up but later asked me to bring it in myself, disrupting my work schedule. On September 2nd, he claimed a new solenoid block was ordered. Communication was inconsistent; by September 3rd he said he found a snap ring in the transmission pump and would need the truck until September 8th. I picked it up on September 8th, but the next day (September 9th) the same code returned. Danny later said he had increased line pressure to 225 psi, and I retrieved the truck again on September 19th. After fewer than 100 miles of driving, the P0871 code reappeared once more. Danny then blamed a "tune issue" and denied responsibility. I took the truck to Poor Boys Diesel, where testing showed low line pressure (120-140 psi), consistent with a cross-leak in the valve body. Their owner, Tim, spoke directly with Danny, who still denied fault. Frustrated, I requested to return the transmission for a refund. When Tim removed the transmission, we discovered metal shavings in the pan, indicating further internal damage. I have spent over $8,000 with AAMCO and was forced to pay an additional $14,000 for a new transmission elsewhere. I have all relevant texts, invoices, and photos of the damage. We have plenty of proof, including affidavits that we're getting from the mechanic shop, phone calls, text messages and overwhelming evidence again people watch who you hire even when you provide proof it seems not enough for someone that doesn't want to take responsibility for the bad work done these are all my opinions except for the facts that I have and will be providing in court. After the installation, I took my car for a ride and there were many warning lights on the dashboard. Not sure if they damaged all the sensors on the car but all the sensors are now giving me warning lights and these warning lights will not go away. If you have newer cars, DO NOT let these guys fix your cars. One of the mechanics was hitting the back rotor with a huge hammer very hard to get it off and must have damaged all the sensors, I guess. Another possibility is that the other mechanic was using an electric saw to cut off the dust covers and might have cut a cable to cause all the warning lights to show up on the dashboard. I sent them an email about all the warning lights but no response from them. They were able to install the 4 rotors and 4 calipers just fine but the brakes don't feel very tight and feel loose when hitting the brakes. I have to push the brake pedal almost all the way down to the floor in order to stop the car. I recommend these guys if you have older cars with no latest technologies. They have damaged my new car. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: 6/2/2025 Took my 2024 Nissan Z to the Nissan dealership and they found 2 problems with my 2024 Nissan Z. They told me the technician Kyle and another technician from High Idle Mobile Mechanics who installed the brakes on my car damaged the ABS sensor and the R/F HUB BEARING which will cost me about $1658.50 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wheel Bearing Replacement - Front: DIAG VEHICLE AND FOUND DTC RF NO COMM WITH RF ABS SENSOR.
