    Dill Grilled Salmon

Located in Vickory - Cumming Ambiance is a nice wood dark bar feel. Casual but not too casual. We enjoyed dining at a bar table with the bartender Alexis as our server. She's very knowledgeable of the menu and offered great suggestion's. Everything was tasty (Dill Grilled Salmon & Fried Buffalo Chicken sandwich - although it is mild and not spicy like you'd expect). The fries are excellent! The only item I wouldn't recommend is the $10 Strawberry Shortcake dessert. It's pricey for what you get and there is not enough toppings for a dry shortbread / biscuit. Adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream would make it a very nice dessert and make the $10 price make more sense.

We wanted to get out of the house and didn't want to travel far. We decided to head to Branchwater. There were two seats at the bar with our names on them. The place was hopping and we immediately felt like this was the place to be. Football was on televisions and everyone was having a great time. I ordered an espresso martini as well as a pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. They offer a decaf espresso martini, but were out of the decaf pods that evening. The martini was strong and sweet. The pretzel was massive and served warm. The inside was soft and the outside was salted well. The beer cheese complemented it. The bartenders were warm and friendly. They made us feel welcomed and checked on us numerous times. We could tell they had a great relationship with the regulars.

Branchwater is a quaint log cabin-esque restaurant in Vickery Village. It's a bit upscale but not formal. I came for dinner with my dad and we started with the brussel sprouts appetizer. The flavoring was good but there were many burnt, flaky bits within. I had the hanger steak for dinner served with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was perfectly marinated with a slight hint of a sweet flavor profile. The asparagus was well-cooked and the potatoes were delicious and creamy. My dad had the Southern veal saltimbocca and he said it was good but there was barely any veal. I have a major sweet tooth so I had the creme brûlée for dessert. It was very sugary and sweet and garnished with a chocolate stick, I would have preferred a handful of berries on top. Our server was attentive and kind, we really appreciated her recommendations. The ambience can be very loud so it's not the place for a quiet dinner. The prices were very reasonable for the portions, in my opinion.

Went here for the first time and tried the grilled porkchop with baked Brussel sprouts. It was sooo amazing. The porkchop was perfectly prepared and the Brussel sprouts were the best I have ever had. I highly recommend going here. You will not be disappointed. Ask for Don, he was a great waiter

    Crab and Crawfish Cakes

Service really was wonderful, the staff was polite and helpful, very quick too. The interior was very nice, comfortable and welcoming. For appetizers, I had the Pimento Cheese Deviled Eggs ($5.99), and the Spicy Tuna Poke with Wasabi Wonton Chips ($13.99). Both were delicious and cooked well. For dessert I tried the Crab & Crawfish Cakes ($29.99), the Grilled Lobster Tails in Horseradish Butter (mkt), and the 8 Ounce Bacon Marinated Beef Tenderloin ($41.99). The Crab and Crawfish Cakes were lukewarm and roughly 80% filler material. The cakes had no clumps of crab meat, and they felt and tasted more akin to canned tuna. The Grilled Lobster tails were better, though they lacked a robust flavor and were a bit overcooked. They were lazily plated with no real care, but overall they were my favorite of the mains. Unfortunately, the vastly overpriced Beef Tenderloin came back VERY rare, when i ordered Medium. I sent it back, but when returned it looked only slightly better, as if simply microwaved. The steak was extremely rare, and for a nicer restaurant charging this much money, I think that is quite honestly pathetic. Overall I think Branchwater seemed amateurish and a bit confused.

    Grilled Chilean Sea Bass

I picked up a takeout order of Chilean Sea Bass and for $35, I was disappointed that the size of sea bass they severed me was just a tad bit larger than the lemon garnish.

I came in this restaurant seeking a steak or maybe a surf n' turf combo. Later, I walked out a rather satisfied man with a belly full of fried lobster tail that was out-of-this-world delicious! They may classify this place as a steakhouse (which also serves seafood and other things), but I'm telling you based on my first impressions...this place could probably make just about everything they offer great! I don't say this often. But I was seriously impressed with everything here. From the service to the un-intimidating decorum, there's little to complain about here. Our server was sensational. Though at one point, she brought me a second tub of drawn butter when I meant for her to get me a second glass of wine. Bless her heart, she's so adorable! As mentioned, I decided to go for the fried lobster tails here because it's not everyday you come across a restaurant that serves them; especially when you live in the south west. I was delightfully surprised. The batter was well seasoned and not too thick. And the Maine lobster they used is succulent and tender. A splash of drawn butter and it's like heaven in my mouth. The fries are freshly cut and made in house with sea salt; always a bonus for me. The prices are fair, too. I just can't say enough good things about this restaurant. So, I'll just end this by highly recommending anyone who happens to be in the Cumming area to check this place out. And I'm giving Branchwater a solid 5 succulent fried lobster tails dipped in drawn butter out of 5.

    Seared Ahi Tuna
    Sarah S.

The food was pretty good. My tuna was a little chewy. And the veggies that were paired with it were a little odd for the dish. The curry risotto was delicious, had a nice kick of heat. Husband says the scallops were pretty good. Risotto was great. The tables are oddly tall and we felt like kids sitting at it. And the benches were very close to the table, it was odd and uncomfortable. The service was shaky. Server seemed to have little personality... it was not welcoming.

There were nine of us--not exactly a tiny table, but hardly the kind of group that should throw a restaurant into chaos. To be fair, we did wait for two people in our party before ordering food. It was probably 20-30 minutes, and we made it very clear to our server that we were waiting. We also weren't just camping out at the table. We started with drinks while we waited, so the restaurant was already making money from our table before the kitchen ever had to cook a single thing. Once everyone arrived, we placed one order together. No staggered tickets, no special requests, no unnecessary complications. The thing is... the restaurant was practically empty. If anything, I would've thought they'd be happy to have a table of nine on a slow brunch. Instead, it felt like we were an inconvenience. Once we finally ordered, it was another 30-plus minutes before much of anything happened. Our waitress wasn't rude, but she also wasn't particularly interested in us being there. She checked the boxes, but just barely. It felt less like hospitality and more like someone waiting for the end of their shift. What made the whole experience even stranger was looking around the restaurant. It wasn't busy, yet several employees seemed to be standing around talking while we sat waiting. During the hour or two we were there, I think only a couple of other parties came through the door. At one point there were two hostesses managing what amounted to a trickle of guests while tables that were already seated waited on drinks, food, and attention. Maybe there's more going on behind the scenes than I could see, but from where we were sitting, it felt less like they needed more people and more like they needed to use the people they already had a little better. Then came the mimosas. These were less mimosas and more "suggestions of citrus." It was basically champagne with a couple thoughts of orange juice. At one point we had to ask for more orange juice just to get it to the legally recognized definition of a mimosa. They tasted like champagne that heard flavored sparkling water was popular and decided to reinvent itself. There was a whole lot of "mim" and not much "osa." At nearly $14 each, I expected something a little more festive and a little less... chemistry experiment. For food, I ordered the Fried Green Tomato Benny: two biscuits, fried green tomatoes, poached eggs, Cholula hollandaise, and fresh fruit. On paper, that's a fantastic brunch. In reality, it was aggressively average. Nothing was quite hot enough. The biscuits had crossed that invisible line between baked and overbaked, where every bite makes you wonder if they're fresh or just committed to the bit. The whole dish felt like it had spent just a few too many minutes waiting for someone to remember it existed. And then there was the fruit. You know the kind of fruit bowl where every piece somehow tastes exactly the same because it's been sitting in the same juice for hours? That's what this was. Cheap melon, tired grapes, and enough pooled juice to ensure every bite shared the same identity crisis. To top it all off, the Benny was around $18, and the mimosas were pushing $14 each. I'm not going to call it a scam because words have meanings. Nobody tricked us. The prices were right there on the menu. We knew exactly what we were doing. We just expected the experience to justify it. On the bright side, the restaurant looks like it was designed by someone who has never met food, but has definitely met Pinterest. And honestly, it shows. Modern farmhouse, soft lighting, curated everything--it nails the aesthetic. Which is great, because you'll have plenty to look at while everything else catches up. It's funny how common this is now: it's easier than ever to make something look finished. You can polish the surface until it feels complete, even when the inside still isn't. Anyway--great aesthetics. The rest feels like it's still figuring itself out.

The staff was kind and attentive, and the space itself was decent -- clean and casual. I came in looking for fish tacos and ordered the grouper tacos (fried corn tortillas) with a side of refried beans and guacamole. The tacos were the highlight -- the fish had really nice flavor and texture. At first glance, it looked almost like fried fish sticks, but it tasted fresh and well-seasoned. The tacos were stuffed with cabbage and a generous amount of pico de gallo (a little too much for my taste), but everything came together nicely once I added the chipotle-style sauce. The sauce reminded me of Subway's chipotle mayo -- creamy, smoky, and actually really good. The guac was smooth, flavorful, and clearly fresh. Unfortunately, the refried beans didn't hold up -- they were runny, watery, and totally bland, like brown soup with no flavor. Also, I was surprised they only offered white rice instead of the traditional Mexican rice, which felt like a miss for this type of restaurant. Overall, I'd give the tacos an 8.5/10 -- tasty, filling, and worth coming back for. The guac was solid too. I'd just skip the beans next time.

It's located in a small strip mall, and from outside it looked small, but walking inside, it is quite large and beautifully decorated. Plenty of parking in the lot. After our hike at Swanee Preserve, a margarita sounded yummy with lunch. Upon entering, I loved seeing the decor and the overall look of the inside plus they have a side enclosed patio which on that day, a couple had their dog with them in the patio. I assume that is one of the reasons for them patio. Plus it seems the plastic windows are most likely rolled up on a nice warmer day. We were seated in the bar area (see pic) and soon after our waiter arrived. Our kids ordered the chunky guacamole. Unfortunately it had way too much many tomatoes and not enough avocado. They thought maybe because avocados are out of season. The chips were yummy, not too thick. They come with a red salsa and a darker salsa which is warm in temp. It was super yummy! I've never had warm temp salsa in any Mexican restaurants back in California so I was surprised by it. We ordered our margaritas and decided on their small which was the perfect size; however, they do have a much larger size and maybe next time. I believe they were poured from a premixed machine or bottle, not entirely sure but they were very tasty and a nice blend of alcohol. My hubby and I ordered the Burrito California without queso and the red sauce on the side (hubby can't eat seeds) (see pic). Very good flavor with lots of chicken. My daughter ordered her the Steak a'la Mexicana (in video) and it was scrumptious; however, it wasn't anything like the menu description but she enjoyed it and it was a huge piece of steak! My son-in-law also enjoyed his Burrito Mexicano. All-in-all, a very enjoyable lunch. The ambiance is lovely, really great Mexican music, beautifully decorated and very clean. My daughter said the bathrooms were clean. Definitely a favorite of mine. Can't forget to say our waiter was great as well as friendly & attentive plus our food came out timely and hot.
