We've been going to the Holland Brann's for a LONG time. We recently stumbled in after a difficult day and saw their $1 wings special. And we're so glad we did. We ordered the wings, French Dip, rib special, and a salad. All dishes were cooked perfectly and delivered quickly. Specifically, we'd like to compliment the cooks' wing rub. Dynamite. Drinks were simple, a Long Island and a beer; both were great. For a TUE, the dining room was busy (probably because of the wing special) and had a nice server/customer/bar flow. They were not as busy as i would have thought for St. Patricks day. Their Chicken Bacon mac and cheese was awful. The noodles were so overcooked they were mush. The house salad had rotten cherry tomatoes. HOWEVER their beer was cold and the bar tender kept me in cold beers. I didn't take pictures because I wasn't that impressed. However I barely made the drive back to my hotel before my guts started bubbling and I almost shat my pants!! read more

We didn't get what we ordered. Ordered a salad with no cheese, and the salad was delivered with cheese on it. The thousand island dressing tasted bitter, like it had not been refrigerated properly. Ordered onion rings and got broccoli which was very mushy. Never got any rolls and butter. Prime rib tasted like it had been reheated, and smothered chicken had no flavor at all. Was rudely turned away at the door by the host, sitting around eating a grilled cheese sandwich at his station. It was an hour and a half before closing time. He told us the dining room was closing, and not in a very nice tone. From the looks of these other reviews though, it sounds like he did us a favor. Had an AWFUL experience here. Plates and appetizers stayed on the table with no removal the entire time. The prime rib gave me stomach pains. I had my Wife take the kids to the car because we were not given the bill. Twenty minutes later my server showed his face to which I demanded a bill. I gave him a large sum of cash to pay my bill. At one point I was like did this guy take off with my money? My serverish showed back up, and thankfully I could leave the resultant. NEVER AGAIN. Food was good. Restaurant was dirty. More like a bar. Server provided good service except did not talk about an added service charge that would be added to the bill. The major issue is that this establishment adds a service charge to the bill of 3% without any notification before you order food or drinks. Their menu prices are not accurate as you will be billed higher prices then manager will explain that the price went up but not on the menu. This applies to drinks (alcohol included) as well. Talked to manager about this and their answer was sorry about that, they do not make enough profit by just charging people the price on the menu and if i didn't like it, just don't come back. I would recommend that people steer clear of this establishment and probably any of their sister properties. read more

Should've checked yelp first - ordered the 8oz sirloin mid rare w/ garlic shrimp. Steak was so chewy it was ridiculous, even tough to cut, BECAUSE it's not a sirloin steak but sirloin cap, which needs to be braised not slapped on the grill. I've been going here every other week for 6 years. Probably spent thousands of dollars. Not so much for the food, but for the convenience and service. After today, never again. There was a 3% service charge on the bill this evening. The manager couldn't articulate the reason. As a marketing manager, I'd advise raising prices 3% rather than a random service charge. PS. First time there in 15 yes & probably will be another 15 before we go back. Hubby had ribs meat tasted off on first slab & bones were huge (see pics) which meant they were from a 450-500 # sow. Went to early supper at Branns Sports Grille on Saturday night. The Bavarian pretzels, yeast rolls and chicken tenders were great, and the salad was fine, but how you can mangle a piece of prime rib that badly is beyond me. Neither my husband or I liked the spices they used, the outside was burnt, it was heavily marbled with large veins of fat, and tough as shoe leather. We waited and waited for our server to return at end of meal so we could pay, went looking for him ourselves, and finally had to send two different employees to find him. Branns is a go to place for us when we visit the west side of Michigan. It is a chain, but the food is consistently good. Their yeast rolls and cinnamon butter are tremendous. I always get the ribs that just fall off the bone. Delicious. read more

We ordered the 2lb BBQ ribs with fries for pick up and ended up finding a hair INSIDE the rib. When we got home my husband bit into the Rib and he felt the hair in his mouth As he pulled the rib away from his face all I see is a LONG hair stuck in between the meat and bbq sauce. read more

We came here with a big party for softball. I would think they would be used to big parties but....nope. The servers were very nice and tried very hard but the food came out very haphazardly with some of us being done with our meals and others hadn't been served. My steak was fine but some in our party had steak that was so tough you couldn't chew it. Would I come here again? Nope. I expect more from a place that has steakhouse in its name. read more

We weren't looking for a fancy dinner, but we were hoping for something edible. Between being seated and receiving our first drinks 40 minutes had passed. I ordered a frozen margarita and the bottom of the drink was melted by the time I received it, which makes me think the bar had it sitting for my waitress to deliver it. We waited so long that we ended up getting our food to go, because we had other obligations. When we opened to eat it my steak was almost well done (I ordered medium), they forgot the fries we ordered on the side, and the steak tasted awful. I wouldn't go here again. I'd never been there before. We don't live in town. We went with friends who live in a Holland. I get a better burger patty from Costco, and it was cold. They brought a vodka soda in a beer glass instead of a drink glass. The steak my husband had was so grissled it was inedible. And for that, $65. Just horrid. read more

Well, we never got to even try the food. We arrived into town and felt like a steakhouse would really hit the spot. It was Friday and saw that they close at 1am, so being shortly after 10pm we thought it wouldn't be any problem. Walking into the restaurant we noticed the entrance had the lights off. The bar area to the right was packed busy. We did see several people eating in the dining area so we decided to wait. An employee walked past us three times without even looking at us or asking us if we needed help. Soon after, other people came into the restaurant and lined up behind us. Finally we flagged an employee down and asked to be seated. She said that the dining area was already closed but we can go sit in the bar. Well, since the bar was full we had to leave. Even though there were still plenty of space and people in the dining area. If they want to close the dining area super early then fine it's their decision. A dumb decision but theirs nonetheless. But not being helped out by the staff was very rude and disrespectful. I've never seen any restaurant turn away customers simply because they didn't want to seat them at a table. If paying customers don't motivate the owners of this place then I don't know what will. read more

I am not a complainer, but this was the worst service I have ever received at an otherwise decent restaurant. First, there was no one to seat me. There appeared to be no manager on staff. Finally, one of the waiters sat me, but not at his own table, which should have been a sign. The waiter I had seemed to take no interest in his job or serving me. He brought me my salad and then asked, "Do you want dressing?" Throughout the entire meal, he never asked if I needed anything, like maybe water, or a second beer. There was no pepper on the table. I went here with my husband and my dad. I was told the steak and ribs were good, but I was warned the service was awfully slow, but we still wanted to try it as it's one of the few places open on a Sunday. I had the ribs & shrimp combo with a garden salad and mashed potatoes. The ribs were cooked too long. If ribs are cooked for 12 hours like the menu states, this usually leads ribs to have a lot of the meat and flavor cooked out of it. They did fall apart and the BBQ sauce was good though. I thought the shrimp was seasoned and cooked well. I really enjoyed the croutons in the salad, and I'm not a crouton person. I also had a bloody mary, which was good and on the spicy side. My dad had the sirloin steak & rib combo with broccoli and a Caesar salad. He said the steak was alright and the ribs were about 7/10. He agreed they were cooked too long. My husband had the pretzel burger with egg. He thought it was good and very filling. It was a huge burger. All of us loved the rolls and honey/cinnamon butter though. That was definitely the best thing we all had. Our server was nice and checked on us a few times, but it was very slow and she seemed very rushed all the time, so I don't know if this location can't keep staff or they just have a poor system in place for servers, but don't go if you're in a rush. I was here one other time a year ago and the service as horrible then too. It shouldn't take over an hour to order, eat, and pay. My husband didn't even want to wait for her to grab the money from us, so he left the cash on the table with the receipt and we left. It's an okay place. Based on my last 2 visits, I'll order my steak less done than how I like it. Considering the price ($8.99 special), I'm pretty happy and will come again.
