After a lackluster experience last year, my family decided to give the Brant Point Grill another try this summer, and we had a much better experience this time. I am on the fence between three and four stars, but since I think the restaurant is grossly overpriced, I will go for three. That being said, the setting was beautiful as always. The service was much improved. Our server was absolutely charming, professional, friendly, helpful yet unobtrusive. Overall, the staff seemed very concerned that we enjoyed our meal, and all were attentive, but were also happy to chat with patrons and joke around a little. Last year I was not happy with my entree, so I ordered very carefully this year. After a week of eating seafood, I enjoyed my petit filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly, with some nice blue cheese on top. The sides I chose, potatos and creamed spinach, went very nicely. Another person in my family enjoyed the scallops, which were a lighter entree. Since the food is so ridiculously overpriced here, we could not see spending almost $20 each on appetizers or salads, and decided to just do entrees, some wine, and a shared dessert, which was just right. I live in New York City, and I continue to find the prices at the Brant Point Grill astonishing. Glad the steak was perfect-- for fifty dollars it should be! (Plus more for sides). My only other minor complaint is that the music was a little cheezy, and the general volume on the veranda (with noisy tables) was loud-- it was hard for us to hear each other. read more

We went for lunch and everyone at the table was disappointed. We all ordered clam chowder for $13, yes, not a typo. It was served without oyster crackers and even worse without taste as well. It was way too thick with no taste whatsoever. We then had lobster rolls, beyond expensive and they have the nerve to serve without slaw or fries. The lobster was over seasoned with too much lemon and not served on a grilled roll, but rather a nondescript roll. We had a side of sweet potato fries, decent enough but not enough for the price of $8. Beware of a venue that does not post its prices on their online menu. This was supposed to be Nantucket? Honestly, I think the service is better on Shutter Island. Four of us ate. Two of our orders were wrong. Batting .500 in baseball is great; batting .500 in food service should get you sent back to the minors. The waitress had the nerve to snap at one member of our party for sending back her grilled salmon salad. Sorry, but "raw" is not a synonym for "grilled." And silly me expected that the chicken Caesar salad would actually include...chicken. Apparently not at this fine establishment. Oh, and our glasses were persistently empty. On a recent business trip we decided to try this place, and were attracted by the prix fixe special. We waited quite a while to be seated, even though there weren't any other people waiting. Of course that means waiting guests will sit a the bar and have a cocktail. When we were seated, about a half hour later, it was freezing! The restaurant is encased in a plastic tent, and it was just too cold. We asked to be seated closer to the main building area, and had hoped the ceiling heaters would help. It didn't. The food arrived in a timely manner, but it was so cold in there, that it was cold in time at all. The service was a bit slow, and since we were now in our coats, we opted to wait for the check at the bar where we could warm up. When the waiter arrived, we asked for coffee as a warm up, and were quickly told, we would have to pay for it! Nice classy touch! I will say that the Bartender was quite friendly and very welcoming. My advice is to stick with the bar, and skip the restaurant! read more

Prepare to be disappointed. With all of the great restaurants on Nantucket sadly we chose to eat here a few wks ago. Great location, venue but was the food super average to mediocre, service ok and you get gouged price wise. Surf and Turf just wasn't good and another fish entree tasted like it was frozen. It's actually a rip off. 1 star is being kind. No need to eat at this Hotel with so many far better and more reasonable options on the islands. It's fair to be suspect of restaurants that are in hotels however, there is no reason here.This restaurant is so tasty. The chef is creative, uses local ingredients, and the food is divine. It reflects the freshness of ingredients. The service is conscientious but not so in your face, kid friendly, they can run around on the grounds, and the wine list and sommelier were great. Tell the sommelier jokes - he totally appreciates them and even laughs. read more

DO NOT BRING CHILDREN HERE!!!! We have been coming to Nantucket for 33 years, and love Brant Point Grill! Unfortunately today we had a different experience. While the staff there is phenomenal and did all they could to accommodate us. I even asked in the beginning if the children would be okay in the environment, and was assured they would. Unfortunately this hotel restaurant seems to attract a far older crowd, with very little to no patience for families. We had planned on going to the bistro at Summer House but given the weather of rain and wind, were forced to change plans. My children were at their nap time and tired but were by no means out of control, in fact they were in a stroller, with minimal to no crying. A patron, maybe 75 years of age, with three other 75 year old patrons located in the bar area, asked us to leave. We, as a table ordered upwards of 10 alcoholic beverages minimum as well as at least $350 in food. I'd rate the food but didn't get to eat, spent my lunch with my children in the rain and in the car, and ended up still being charged for my lunch that couldn't be eaten or enjoyed which frustrated me slightly, but obviously Understand given that it is not the restaurants fault they host nasty patrons. The fact that this customer felt it was his right to approach me in such a manner disgusts me- and sadly I won't be returning. There are so many wonderful restaurants on this island that aren't filled with entitled elderly, I'd suggest trying them! It's a true shame as the white elephant itself is fabulously kid friendly when staying over, their lawn happy hour is amazing, and the employees are truly wonderful, I wish their restaurant experience would catch up, or at least that their older patrons would get a life! read more

Tonight's dinner was a complete 180 from our last visit at the beginning of July. Fantastic service, great food (the tuna was excellent) and attentive staff. I was told that some changes had been made and it truly did show tonight. Kudos to Mark and his team! We will be back, now. read more

If you are looking for a night of fine dining that includes delicious food with a complementary (note the spelling and meaning) bottle of wine recommended by the sommelier, a romantic atmosphere near the ocean's edge, and you are in the mood to splurge (ie: unlimited budget) then I encourage a visit to the BPG at the White Elephant Hotel; you won't be disappointed. The menu is fantastic with so many amazing options. You may even find yourself playing Eeny, meeny mini miny moe because of the many enticing appetizer, salad; and entree options. My boyfriend and I split the Wedge salad and the gnocchi appetizer. We then each ordered an entree with two sides. Yes it was overkill, and yes we pretty much pigged out, but it was hard not to since everything tasted so good. One of the sides we ordered was the Spanish onion rings. The portion was huge and they were so tasty. It was hard to stop eating them. The dessert menu is mouth watering as well, but we were too full for a real dessert so we just ordered coffee drinks containing Bailey's and Amaretto topped with whipped cream; a little cheesy I suppose but it was a cool, damp night. Service was slow and only 25% of restaurant filled so that is no excuse. Very expensive but food was great. Had fluke and filet and both were exceptional. Waiter took 10 minutes to get to table to take a drink order. Not acceptable. read more

Propelled to write my first review by our meal here tonight. If you are looking for a great vista and aren't picky about food, service, or value, then by all means enjoy the view. The lobster pasta side was sublime, but the crab cake, steak tartar, and tomato side were miles behind many that we have had elsewhere. The swordfish was fine/good. Service was perky but forgetful, ie. drinks, silverware, seasoning, and the bill had to be sought out. The experience overall was mildly aggravating. For the caliber of the hotel (and the price) I expected higher standards. read more

Nathan truly went above and beyond for our two-year anniversary dinner! From his excellent suggestions to his professional and expert service, he made our night unforgettable. We were offered glasses of champagne upon being seated at a table by the window, overlooking the water. We ordered the steak and tuna entrees, at Nate's suggestion, as well as the lobster mac and cheese--which is a bestseller for a reason! Everything was exquisite! We were sad that we couldn't finish our meals or take them home. Dessert was another surprise! We were so full, but we found a little room to sample the delicious, complimentary miniature cupcakes that Nate brought us. The steak was cooked to perfection, the sauce that came with the tuna was to-die-for, and the champagne and dessert were such lovely additions to an already perfect night! But we are most grateful for Nate, for he happily attended to our every need and question, helping us plan the rest of our romantic anniversary weekend. Thank you, Nate! Thank you, Brant Point Grill! I am appalled and disgusted by this restaurant...I made a reservation for my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary, I asked them to allow me to pay for the dinner (as their present), giving them all the required info. They took down my information, promised me over and over that it would be taken care of and they NEVER made it happen. When I called to complain, the manager was so rude and acted as if it was my fault. I would recommend everyone to stay away, there are several other great restaurants in Nantucket, all of them would be better for service and for food. STAY AWAY. read more

This is where we had our 1st dinner on the island! WOW! I was just blown away. The view, the service. We were a group of 8 and I felt like we had the best table in the house. We sat on the porch. The view doesn't get any better, picture perfect. The heaters were a nice touch since it got chilly once the sun went down. To drink I had the gin cucumber cocktail, so tasty! My appetizer was the heirloom tomato salad which was just your standard tomato/mozzarella dish. My boyfriend got the New England Clam Chowder (this was my 1st time trying clam chowder). It was so rich and delicious. Boyfriend said it was the BEST clam chowder he's ever had. The table ordered the nantucket crab cake for everyone to try, nothing to rave about. Now for my main course.. I ordered the Alaskan Crab Legs. I was expecting a small portion since this was an expensive classy place, but no it was not. I was shocked on the large portion size. The meat was tender and so tasty. Couldn't finish the plate on my own! I also got to try the 12oz Aged NY Strip Steak with Roasted Garlic Whipped Potato & Blue Cheese Compound Butter. The blue cheese butter was the perfect touch. Was a pricey restaurant but it came out to be $250 a couple which is pretty standard in any NYC establishment. (Drinks, apts, & dinner) I would definetly come back here ( Wish we could've on this trip). We went out about 5 other nights for dinner, I would say this was the #1 spot! read more

We went to the Brant Point Grill to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. With exceptionally high expectations oft this place, we were very disappointed. They could not fit us in at 7pm or 7:30 so we opted to take a 6pm reservation. We figured this is a place that we must go to. Well, we arrived on time and the room was vacant besides a mother and her three children and the hostess was trying to seat us at the first table closest to the bar- No thanks miss. The wine festival was going on so our view was obstructed with a tent. The ceaser salad was dry and appeared old. My artichoke au gratin's topping was dry as well as the garlic mashed potatoes. My beef tenderloin was the only thing that tasted good My husband's New York Strip was just okay. For desert we got the chocolate fudge cake and that was even dry and not moist. We wished our experience was better as we have had our experience of fine dining but this was highly disappointing. read more

It's pretty much as good as it gets. We went recently with friends for dinner. It is pricy, but no worse than a nice dinner out at most other high-end restaurants. I am not the type to be in the "clean plate club" ever, but my filet mignon was just so perfectly delicious that I had no choice but to finish it all. My husband also had the filet, and we split fingerling potatoes and the glazed carrots for sides. You can't beat the view either. We were able to dine outside, and it is so peaceful to eat overlooking the water and the boats. read more

Cannot give this restaurant more than a two because I have been going to the Grill for three years and I have never been so disappointed as this year! The drink was mostly ice in a juice glass for eleven dollars. The calamari was not that tender and the sauce was blah, and there were disappointments as we had too many zucchini in with them... For an exorbitant amount of money! My fluke had not much flavor and so little crab stuffing... Another huge disappointment, and my husband's swordfish was a tiny portion that said came with eggplant which consisted of tiny chunks which had a sauce that he did not care for. Beers are way overpriced we discovered compared with several restaurants on the island, and having visited the local brewery here, I can't excuse that price. Serving sizes are very small, as are the drinks. You have to pay an additional eight dollars if you want a vegetable, and that too was very small! If you have money you like to throw away, then by all means go to the Grill. Also, when they put the flaps down, the view was no longer a draw for me, and it wasn't even raining. Walked throughout town browsing menus and came upon the Brant Point Grill. Without a reservation we were promptly seated on the lawn. The service from start to finish was top notch. The menu was short and consisted basically of different steaks, lobster, and a chicken dish. My wife ordered the chicken dish. It had great flavor. I ordered the NY Strip. The steak was of a discount supermarket quality. Barely a 3/4" thick cut of meat. 4oz's of the 12oz steak was inedible grizzle. With such a limited menu consisting mainly of steak I would have thought it would have been better. The whipped potatoes were amazing. The waiter acknowledged the left over grizzle and took it away. I did not complain about the meat quality as we were enjoying everything else the establishment had to offer. Maybe stick to drinks and appetizers before diving deep into the limited menu.
