Friends said we would love it here. I have to say I was deeply disappointed. My starter of heirloom tomatoes at the peak of summer was just flavourless. I am not sure if it was intentional but they were also oddly undressed - no hint of balsamic or olive oil - undressed would be fine if the tomatoes were tasty and juicy. Served with cheap mini buffalo mozarella balls and artichoke hearts out of a can, I could've done much better. Our mains were ok. The steak was well cooked. The sides were again things I could make better. For $8 per side I expected much better than this. The main chef was not in kitchen when we dined - but just because chef is not in does not mean standards should fall. And just because people will show up and pay even if the food is mediocre is not a license to cook such a disappointing meal... read more

Very good experience. We ate at the restaurants 3 nights in a row, excellent food each time. The views (of the harbor) are very charming, the staff attentive and the food delicious. I had halibut one night, which was fresh and prepared to perfection, chicken breast the next night (among the most tender and best prepared chickens i have ever had) and burger the third night, also excellent. The starters also were spectacular, seafood creviche one night, chicken pate the second and duck confit the third, all phenomenal. The wine list is comprehensive and well chosen, we tried a Portugese red wine from Douro river valley one night, a great Zinfandel the second night and a nice Bordeux on the third. Prices are high for food and wine (not surprising for a 5 star hotel), but well worth it. read more

Ordered a bourbon smash on a hot day. I got a glass with a few ice cubes, bourbon and a ton of sour mix. No crushed ice, no mint. It was gross. On top of that the bartender (Ari) was condescending and only talked about himself, so much so that he was bragging about stupid things... like where he worked and who he has waited on. He snapped at a bar back for bringing him a smudged glass in front of everyone. When he would turn around, everyone was making disgusted faces to each other. All said and done, whatever vibe I got, I got a terrible drink that I had to pay $16 dollars for. read more

This place is a tourist trap!! Avoid. I had many great dining experiences while on Nantucket. However, Brant Point Grill was not one of them. We went there for the mothers day Sunday brunch. It was a all you can eat buffet. The chicken was dry. The asparagus was overcooked. The bloody mary "bar" had very few selections. The bill came to $171.00 for 2 which was more than any other meal we had and the least satisfying. read more

Amazing view overlooking the water. I think we came here at least 4 times over the course of our trip for drinks, lunch or dinner. The bartender was awesome. We were a fairly rowdy bunch (especially after 4-5 rounds of drinks) but he had a good sense of humor and kept them flowing. Dinner was also especially good. I had the rib eye and it was huge and cooked perfectly. All of the sides that we ordered were great as well. Was a good meal overall. read more

We sat at the beautiful bar and split some excellent fish tacos (fresh jalapeño made the.m extra special) and a couple of local beers while we waited for our room at the White Elephant to be ready. The friendly bartender happily gave us the inside scoop on Nantucket and provided us with lots of great tips for our stay. We meant to come back for a proper dinner, but ever had the chance. I really like the ambiance and location of this restaurant. Upscale, clean and with good service. However, I was disappointed with my meal. I order six Island Creek Oysters on the half shell and found that there was shell bits in all of my oysters. Whoever opened them did a really crappy job. Then the mignonette dipping sauce was incorrectly made and was overly acidic...too heavy on the vinager. I cannot recommend getting the oysters here. I wanted to get a steamed lobster, however, they only offer a 2 pounder for get this 58 dollars!!! Lobster is cheap this year...so this is way over priced. I settled for one of their signature dishes...lobster ravioli with parsnip puree...which was good but the lobster was blah. So, what I really like was just the place. I would go back and just go to the outside bar and order their yummy mixed drinks even though the are expensive around 12 dollars each...I figure you are paying for the atmosphere. read more

Clearly, the staff of this restaurant is well trained. The restaurant is large, clean, well organized with both inside and outdoor seating. Menu and wine options are plentiful, wait staff is very friendly, with service to match. Can't see any reason to knock the place, so five stars it is. read more

I ate at the White Elephant when I was a little girl and wanted to go back. My husband and I had a lovely meal, with a table overlooking a beautiful harbor. the staff was very attentive, continuously asked if we needed anything and brought whatever we requested right away. There is a $33 prix fixe, 3 course dinner that tempted us, but we ended up splitting a 2 pound broiled lobster that was delicious. For a starter, we had mozzarella and green tomatoes . With dinner, we had asparagus and radish salad and potato fingerlings. I had the cranberry bread pudding for dessert, which was outrageously good. There were many multi-generational families eating. Although the website says the dress is "business casual," there were many diners wearing shorts and flip flops. The restaurant is expensive but no more than other places we have been in Nantucket. Including 1/2 bottle of wine, an NA beer, coffee, an after dinner drink and the tip, the bill came to about $200. If you are looking for a noisy, trend hot spot, this isn't a place for you. But if you want a leisurely , delicious meal in a beautiful setting, this is a good bet. We plan to return for the prix fixe meal this week. read more

The White Elephant used to be a lovely decadent place to go enjoy breakfast. It is no longer. Awful mediocre buffet for $28, barely any table service at all, old urn of coffee on the table, dirty plates sit without being whisked away, the staff at the buffet was condescending and unhelpful. After reading the great reviews on Yelp, this seemed like THE place to go for seafood and steak on the island. It was our first visit to ACK and we were celebrating my birthday. We wanted a sure thing. A sure thing we got. This place impressed us from the moment we walked in. We couldn't believe it wasn't more crowded. We ended up with a seat on the edge of the patio, with a great view. It did get a bit chilly, but that didn't deter us. The drinks, bread, salads, and entrees impressed us. The service was just so-so but the food made up for it. We had to remind them to bring us bread and I am so glad that we did! What a treat. I enjoyed the tomato salad, which had the best artichokes I've ever eaten. My boyfriend had the wedge. For entrees, I went with the filet, which was cooked to perfection, and for him, it was the king crab. We both cleaned our plates. I was so glad that I tried a drink from their cocktail list- a blueberry and basil infused lemonade! To die for. We agreed that this was one of the best meals we've ever eaten, and we've dined at quite a few top-notch steakhouses. Don't miss out! read more

Went to the Brant Point Grill for our "annual white elephant" dinner while vacationing in Nantucket. Every year we go for the ambiance, NOT the service or the food as neither have ever been worth the price. Our steak has been over cooked, service sub par and we have always felt rushed. Last night broke the tradition and we will NOT be back. We went for a 6:15pm reservation on a beautiful Tuesday night. The hostess went to sit us indoors next to the hostess stand. When I questioned why we were not able to sit outside I was told that the reservations outside had been reserved weeks in advance. Mind you, I had my reservation for several weeks it was just made on open table. I was told that we could sit outside but would need to be gone by 7:15. I was also told if that did not work they could accommodate us a week from Wednesday. The food and service had been so terrible in the past it was not worth sitting inside. We won't be back. Note to staff - NO ONE is making a reservation at this restaurant to sit indoors. Have the decency to let your patrons know they have an indoor seat before they go out of their way to show up for a reservation. read more

This is a beautiful setting with inner harbor view on a sunny day and a great spot for a nice lunch. Only disappointment this year is the clam chowder. It is more of a fish chowder than clam and is afloat with butter. Otherwise their hamburgers and lobster salad continue to be among the best and the wait staff are excellent! read more

This place has an amazing view and the food was good. We came here for lunch and I ordered the New England Lobster salad and it came with big chunk of lobsters and it was a pretty good size. The salad was really good. The service was a little slow and it took a little longer for them to serve us bread but our waitress was friendly and very apologetic. Plus we were enjoying view and was having a great day that we didn't mind it too much. The Bloody Mary was great too. I would definitely come back again to this restaurant. read more

The experience alone boosted this review to a 5-star. We were staying at the White Elephant Village which was a few minutes away but had a dinner voucher to the Brant Point, so made reservations for our Anniversary as this was going to be our "expensive" meal. We arrived early and sat at the bar for a drink. There was one other couple at the bar at the time and it was very casual. Unfortunately, there was a party on the deck so we couldn't go out there and see the view. We became so ingrossed in conversation between the other couple, our bartender, and some other people that arrived during the time that our reservation time came and went!! We felt so bad, but the place was NOT busy at all so it wasn't a big deal. We had been drinking quite a bit so weren't overly hungry yet, so decided to just stay at the bar and order in a little while. One thing led to another and it was quite late and we hadn't ordered. We wanted something small and not over the top, so I ordered a burger (I think-hha) and my husband had steak with a sauce of choice on the side. Meanwhile, we were on drink 3 for each of us. The group and gone and a woman sat on the other side of us, with an older couple on our left. We kept talking to everyone as well as the bartender, and drink after drink...the older couple bought us a drink which was very lovely of them. They were drinking a good amount as well. The bartender was AWESOME! I believe he went by KC...he was so personable without "trying". He was very natural and very helpful. My husband even ended up helping him update his phone! Since it was our first night, he gave us some insight on things to do and local, hangout places on the island. Back to the food, it was very very good and exactly up our alley. We enjoy the 5-star fancy shmancy place, and it WAS our anniversary after all...but just how the night played out is exactly what we loved. We literally closed the place down and had only a 3 minute walk back to our room. We saw KC later in the week at a local hang out and he acknowledged us and asked how our time was. That was awesome, not many people would do that, but he was a great worker and like I said, a very natural person. Went for brunch on Sunday. If you can stand the price ($55 each plus tax and tip and alcoholic beverages), this is a terrific Sunday brunch. Fresh oyster bar, beautiful salads, incredible desserts, etc. Probably the best food we had on ACK this year. Make a reservation and ask for outside seating on the rim of the patio. Maybe it's because we went between lunch hour and dinner time but the patio was really empty and people were dressed really casually as if they were waiting to catch their ferry. The main dining area was closed off, but later the manager said they offer seating both on the patio and in the main area and that most patrons prefer the view from the patio. Homemade rigatoni with sausage and littleneck clams was excellent. Sandwich and salad were just ok, which is not ok when on Nantucket and there are lots of amazing dining options. Went for my son's birthday dinner. Everyone at our table was delighted with both the food and service. I'm from New England and have eaten enough chowder to sink a ship. This is chowder at its finest hour not to be compared to any previous chowder experience! Really. Also, delightful deserts if you still have room. Avoid this place at all hazards. Four years ago, we had a delightful dinner here. We have wanted to repeat that experience ever since. My wife wanted to come to Brant Point Grill for her birthday. Last year, a wedding made outdoor seating impossible, and we left after being seated behind the buffet line, This year, our hotel made reservations for Tuesday night. BPG called us and informed us that there was a conference at the hotel and that dining options were limited. They did suggest that Sunday would be fine. We made a 7pm reservation. However, I forgot to write down the time, so I called back a few days later to reconfirm. They had no reservation in my name. I rebooked the reservation. I asked my hotel concierge to reconfirm all of my reservations on island during our stay. When I arrived at our hotel, I received a note confirming all, but it stated 730pm, not the 7pm I had written down. I called the BPG, and once again, they had no knowledge of my reservation. While I should have paid attention to the message conveyed, I wanted to please my bride. So I rebooked for 730pm. We arrived on time. We were offered outdoor, patio seating as promised. However, the tent vendor for the conference was hard at work erecting the circus tent for the next night, so my harbor view became obstructed view before my drink order was served. When the manager stopped by to see how everything was, I politely relayed my serious complaint about this inexplicable lack of communication. He called it a comedy of errors. Our dinners were served. While the appetizers (blue fish pate and salmon tartare) were great, the main courses (salmon and ribeye) were undercooked and inedible. We were offered a glass of wine. We accepted this. But no other apology, compensation or acknowledgement was forthcoming. The manager seemed helpless to rectify the situation or even acknowledge the error on the part of his staff. At the end of the evening, as I repaired to the restroom, he approached my wife, and offered that the weather for the next several days would be great. I think that this place needs some serious remediation in client management. I shall not return. It is clear that "functions" are more important than "families" to the bottom line here. read more

Amazing Sunday brunch buffet, everything from breakfast to ice cream to a raw bar. Friendly service, one lady kept dropping everything though. Great lunch here! I had the steamed Chatham mussels. Probably the biggest mussels I have ever had! Broth was Thai green curry with coconut milk, baby boy Choy and ginger. We have been celebrating our wedding anniversary here for years and I must say that dinner last night was one of the best we have ever had on Nantucket. The appetizers were special, my swordfish, my wife's two lb lobster and my daughters steak were perfectly prepared and presented. Staff is friendly and helpful and both the restaurant manager and the food and beverage manager are on the floor making sure all is well. Good quality food, especially the seafood, and it's open for lunch which is super convenient. But there was something that disappointed me a bit. We ordered the lobster "salad" - the lobster was fresh and of the highest quality, but there were about 8 pieces of mesclun greens on the plate (served in a little heap on the side of the lobster). My husband and I had an early lunch at BPG today. We've always had stellar food there. Today, not so much! I tried the slow roasted Kobe beef sandwich, which was beautiful, as well as delicious. My mate , however, had fried clams that looked like Howard Johnsons clam strips from the "70's! "Great Sunday Brunch with All The Trimmings!" We had planned to stop in at The White Elephant for Brunch on Sunday, especially after we read the reviews. It definitely lived up to its reputation. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table in the canopied area, so we moseyed over to the bar. There was a "make your own Bloody Mary" demonstration and tasting. Very nice. The table was along the edge, and we could watch the boats come and go from the harbor. The buffet had everything you could imagine. The large breakfast area had everything from the eggs benedict (fabulous) to flavored sausage and honey glazed bacon. Everything is made on premises. There were 4 carving stations for prime rib, duck, ham, & turkey. There were 4 other areas like the salad station, but I want to talk about two of them. The raw bar was amazing. Oysters, clams were being shucked and lined up for you within seconds. It doesn't get fresher than that. The shuckers were faster than most that I had seen, and he had no problem keeping up with the demand. The dessert table was HUGE! I counted over 30 desserts, from 5 pies, 5 cakes, fantastic bread pudding, and soo many pastries, you could not fit half on them on your huge plate. The pastry chef was out there making suggestions, and giving her thoughts on what ideas she had come up with before making her creations. It was a lot of fun. Tips for my followers: MAKE A RESERVATION!!! Take a walk on the dock, and look at some of the boats and where they are from-Bermuda, Florida, North Carolina, etc. The captains love to tell stories. read more

This restaurant was incredibly disappointing! That is based almost entirely on the service or lack there of. My girlfriend and I ate there on the porch an a Monday night with only 5 other tables of 2 people each so it's not as if they were slammed but doing their best. I started with a 1/2 dozen oysters followed by the skirt steak. My girlfriend had the Berkshire pork tasting which was 4 courses. The only time our server Efniel came back to the table after taking the order was to ask if everything was to our liking. Not a single course was explained or described when presented and to finish the night off I had to get up from the table to ask if we would be able to order dessert. And at this point it was only ourselves and one other table in the restaurant. Not only will I not return to the restaurant but I wouldn't even consider staying at the hotel either. As the manager if a restaurant in NYC, I would not welcome back a server with such disregard for his tables. read more
