Had a great meal here recently. Went with a group of six to try more menu items. The rock shrimp casino, meatballs and surf n' turf were all great starters. 5 of us got the American cut prime rib. The other guy got the New York strip. We tried the bake potato (highly recommend), creamed spinach, mushrooms and creamed potato as sides. A couple of the guys ordered the crab cake to go with their prime rib and one ordered the bone marrow to accompany the prime rib. The Paloma cheesecake for dessert was excellent. The service was just ok. We were given the crudo royale appetizer by mistake, but still were charged for it at the end of the meal. We sat down around 730 and didn't finish the meal until after 10. With cocktails and a bottle of wine, our bill was over $1000. Not a place to go frequently, but definitely a place worth checking out. read more

Went to the Brass Ram to celebrate my wife's birthday. Very impressed with the space. The service is a little over the top, but perhaps that was just our server. The best dish of the night was the Crudo Royale - maybe our favorite crudo dish ever. Large serving of hamachi, tuna, shrimp king crab with just the right amount of avocado included with a tart citrus sauce. All the seafood was great with perfect texture and freshness and the accompaniments were on point. We then shared a meh Caesar Salad. Based on the description, I expected more punch. Not high on my Caesar salad rankings. On to the main courses. I ordered the American cut of prime rib. In my opinion, it was excellent. The bite I shared with my wife must have not been the best piece because she thought it was tough. Luckily it was my entree and not hers. She ordered an off the menu halibut dish that was dynamite. Seems like this "Steakhouse" really does seafood well. We had a side dish of creamed potatoes that were also excellent. The dish that probably knocked a star off the review was the truffled bucatini from the appetizer section. We ordered it as a side dish to our entrees. Just flat out not good. Very little truffle flavor, or flavor at all, and the texture of the noodles seemed like they were over cooked. We were pretty full at the time so it wasn't a real big deal, but a restaurant of the quality of Brass Ram shouldn't send out a dish that poorly executed. Small points off for recognizing we were there for my wife's birthday when we checked in, but not providing any birthday dessert. Celebrated a Birthday as first timers. The restaurant is beautiful. Valet parking was friendly and $7. The young kids at the host stand were friendly. I read many reviews about the awesome, over the top service and I don't feel like we got that. Our server was friendly but nothing different than any other restaurant. We had a little bit of everything. We will definitely be back in search of the over the top service that everyone is raving about. I will say that I wasn't a huge fan of the bone-in prime. I think I will get the thick cut next time. The spinach, creamed potatoes and mushrooms were fantastic. I've been here 3 times now and it's safe to say I can give an honest review of everything I've tried and at this point, it's half the menu. So buckle up because this review is a long one. I will say that the first time I came I wasn't a fan but I'm really glad I gave it another chance. Brass Ram is also unlike any other "steak house" and they do things their own way, which I love. The service is always top tier. The last 2 times we went the server remembered my fiancé from a previous visit. I wish I caught his name but we were fortunate enough to sit in his section the last time and he is incredible. I also love the moody vibes of this restaurant and the decor, from the books to the photos on the walls. Ok now to the important stuff.... Drinks: Whiskey sour: I'm not a huge whiskey drinker but this was delicious. 9/10 59 Eldorado: no words. 10/10 Starters: Pigs in a blanket: comes with a Dijon mustard sauce to dip. Not something you would see on a normal steak house menu but these are so good! The ratio of pig to blanket is just right. 8/10 Tataki: OK THIS. I would come to brass ram just for this appetizers. The meat practically melts and you get that spicy tang from the jalapeños, chili oil and ponzu combo. This dish is worth fighting for the last piece. 12/10 Crudo Royale: almost like the tataki but the seafood version without the spice. If you like sushi, you're going to love this! Packed with flavor and the avocado is such a nice balance to the different fish and sauces. 12/10 Rock shrimp: helllooo garlic butter. Save the big crouton to dip in the garlic butter and thank me later. This dish is so rich in flavor. The prosciutto gremolata gives that crunchy texture with the creamy garlic butter, it's just delicious. 9/10 French onion soup: wooowie. So gooey and cheesy and again incredible. 8/10 A burger like I had in Paris that one time a while ago: the name of the burger is longer than my review for it. The best burger I've ever had. Thank me later...12/10 Sides: Mushrooms: delicious and flavorful but nothing ground breaking. 8/10 Steak fries: I mean they're steak fries with parm, you can't go wrong. 8/10 Fried onions: I thought these were going to be more like the shoe string fried onions but these are the most upscale onions rings I've ever had. They're so soft and crunchy at the same time. Best fried onion I've ever had, hands down. 8/10 Mac de blanc: out of every side on the menu this is my least favorite. Still delicious but just not my personal favorite. 6/10 Fat asparagus: any grilled veggie is a 10/10 for me Cauliflower: this one I believe is a special, if I remember correctly I think this one is also grilled or slightly charred with parm and butter. 6/10 Steaks: Ribeye: first time I had it, wasn't impressed. Second time was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly, tender and the voodoo sauce is a nice addition. 8/10 Porterhouse: pricey but SO worth it. Definitely enough for 2-3 people to share if you get sides and some appetizers. Ordered it medium, perfectly pink with a nice crust. Tender, juicy and by far my favorite steak. 10/10 If you made it this far, please go treat yourself to a nice dinner at Brass Ram. read more

We hadn't been inna while and decided to make a late afternoon reservation since we were in town. The experience has remained excellent for us. We were warmly welcomed by the GM upon arrival and shown to our table in the very comfortable dining room. Service excellent.....efficient, anticipatory, friendly but never overbearing. We shared the rock shrimp appetizer, which is awesome. The bread for dipping is so good I could make a meal of it. Also shared a terrific burrata and tomato salad. Mains were prime rib for the wife and steak frittes for me, both perfectly cooked. Shared sides of mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. Carrot cake for dessert completed a great meal. Oh my god. Everything here was a 20/10! And the restaurant is just beautiful. The prime rib and wagyu were SO tender and flavorful. The popovers with the gravy were amazing. Calamari, crab cakes and mashed potatoes were delicious. My family loved the onion rings too. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with everything and made great recommendations. I am updating my original review from 3 to 5 stara as I dine for my 3rd time at Brass Ram/ yea, you heard that right, I've been back twice since my initial review. The service has been impeccable. The second time it was a larry of 2 and now the third I am sitting at the bar. The food was prepared and seasoned to perfections. Honorable mentions: shrimp casino, Karla crab cake, seafood skewer, ribeye, prime rib, the burger, onion rings, and Caesar salad. Dennis (the manager) remembered us the second time, and the waitstaff have been hospitable and accommodating. The music changes but I love it all. Tonight is a great jazz mix. The service was great... once we got to the restaurant. We dined here when my daughter and her significant other can't to town. We called to say we had an infant with us and e we're told that children under 8 were not allowed. Not a good start... That said, once we were seated and all the staff were done cooing over the baby ( who doesn't love looking at and smiling at a baby), we had a lovely meal. The staff was very kind and helpful. The Brass Ram is spectacular.... I had no idea what I was walking into as this was a new venue for me and I walked away totally in awe. We had a large party of 15 and the service was fast, friendly and great with suggestions for us... The drinks was perfect and all the food came out just as described and was fresh and hot... When I say hot it was burn your mouth hot and fresh... I have no idea how they actually did this but it was amazing... I think we tried almost every appetizer and even some off menu ones that were suggested by Steve our server... I think we had no less than 7 orders of the wagyu pig in a blankets... so unique and good!!! The entrees were just as good and the prime rib is unlike I had ever experienced with their special sauces!! This entire experience was off the charts and I will most certainly be back very soon. We thought the Brass Ram was a great place. Good food...check. Good service...check. Good ambiance/atmosphere...check. So why only 4 stars. I thought the food, service and ambiance were all really great. I also thought the restaurant was really expensive. Granted, everything is getting more expensive so there's that, but in my mind the prices just passed over some interenal limit as to even th high range of what they should be. If you are out on a business expense account dinner then I would really recommend it. I have nothing but positive things to say about our waiter, the atmosphere and theme, the drinks and our food, especially a shrimp dish they have that is served in this buttery sauce and with bread that you dipped in it...it was amazing. read more

Our third visit to BR was nothing short of divine. I'm obsessed and will return soon. We ventured the drive from Gunter to Dallas (iykyk) because I was in the mood for damn good prime rib...and friends, I'll tell ya: Brass Ram did NOT disappoint. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Friendly, attentive staff, seated with no wait from a reservation booked in advance, phenomenally cooked food paired with the best cocktails and wine, and a couple of check-ins from Dennis, the manager. Our wait staff might have been my favorite human on the face of the earth comprised of great recommendations coupled with perfectly timed jokes. He made us feel at home and wanted - the perfect combination for a restaurant of this caliber. Our food came well paced with enough time to chat, enjoy our drinks, and finish apps. The prime rib was TO DIE for and I'm still dreaming of it even still. My family ordered four different cuts and each were prepared perfectly. Needless to say I'm in love and BR has my heart. This place is spectacular. My favorite Nick B establishment I have been to, and that is saying a lot. The food here is amazing. Not a bad thing on the menu. The burger is one of a kind and a Nick B specialty at most of his restaurants. This one is like a burger he had in Paris a long time ago and it lives up to the hype. Massive shrimp cocktail to start and drinks at the bar was a great start to Valentine's Day. We got a delicious crab cake and split the wedge with thousand island dressing. Very good. The prime rib steaks the show. Best prime rib I've ever had served with the horseradish cream sauce and au ju it is amazing. Sides were great also, broccoli was veggie of the day and was great but the onion rings were unreal. Very crispy and a healthy serving. The service was amazing. Zach the GM was kind enough to take pictures when I proposed to my girlfriend on the third floor. Could not ask for better service. The ambiance is very original and very cool. Dined at Brass Ram in January, two months after it opened. In short, great ambience, good cocktails, competent service. The food was hit & miss, and dining room incredibly loud. It felt like a place that has potential with a bit more time to smooth out some common new restaurant issues. There were six of us on a Saturday night. Place can be difficult to find with just a small low key sign on a door most apparently walk past - Brass Ram is above another restaurant which is the one we entered looking for the Ram and their staff directed us to a staircase saying it happens all the time. After taking the elevator or stairs up, you enter a landing opening to the hostess stand. The restaurant has a fabulous NY old school steakhouse n soeakeasy vibe. It is a long narrow rectangle in shape without any dividing walls. The bathroom wait can be long (one men's and one women's) but are impeccably decorated! Our server was attentive although clearly still learning the menu as she wasn't too helpful with suggestions. Drinks took a minute but were great. We had a variety of salads and appetizers to start. The bbq meatball were excellent. The shrimp cocktail tasted bad, like the shrimp was old. For entrees the pork chop got high marks. Several of us ordered prime rib. Two plates the meat was warm, two were really cold. Pricey but tasty. We did a few desserts that everyone enjoyed. We were on a table in the middle back of the dining room (booths run the length of the wall with windows, bar on the opposite wall, with more booths and standard tables like ours running the length of the middle. I share this because the layout might factor into how absolutely, incredibly loud it is. We could not hear each other from across the table half the time and two of us left with splitting headaches. The couple of food issues could be because they are new and hopefully with some time those go away. I would go back in six months, and definitely on a less busy/loud week night. read more

Had a very nice meal with family while celebrating son's 30th birthday. The ambience is nice, and the starting cocktails around the table were varied and each was well prepared. We selected the pigs in a blanket appetizer and the meatballs. We agreed that the former was preferred - a unique way to get these going and quite tasty . For my entree I chose the 14 oz ribeye and it was finished to perfection. Easily one of the better steaks I can recall in the past few years, and I'm not a stranger to steakhouses. Sides of steak fries and creamed spinach complemented the meals nicely and each was delicious. Surprisingly, no creme brûlée or chocolate cake (or soufflé) or other standards, so we passed on the dessert. Awful experience!!! This is the first time I have written a review for anything; however my experience at Brass Ram, or should I say ongoing negative experience could not go unrecognized. In short, we have dined at this restaurant many times and have had wonderful experiences. For any occasion, it was our go to stop. NEVER AGAIN. The food has always been delicious, the service spot on. The ambience is nice but it is so cold in the restaurant that a North Face is suggested! We went on a Saturday night as we were celebrating my husband's birthday. Each and every dish was a different experience than we had had in the past. The taste was average at best. Regarding our porterhouse that we order every time, it was terrible. The taste was strange and the portion was definitely much smaller than usual. Being that is was my hubby's birthday, I did not want to complain at that moment and ruin the evening for my him. Subsequently, I called and spoke to the manager, Dennis, and he told me I could have a refund or come in again and the restaurant would make it right. When I called back on Thursday, February 29th, the hostess told me Dennis, the Manager,was no longer working there and I could speak to Matt, one of the managers I reiterated the story to Matt and his response, "how do I know you are telling me the truth since Dennis can't verify this?" (I guess he is basically calling me a liar!). He then said there was nothing they could do other than overseeing the chef. I truly believe the manager at an average, chain steakhouse would have had more manners and professionalism than Matt. This is really disappointing and short sided and we will never return. read more

Loved this place. Embodies "sexy library vibe." Known for their prime rib and they did not disappoint. Service was great, they take your whole order at once to ensure proper coursing. Most unique dish goes to the crudo. Has heat in all the right places and a good bit of raw fish to share. The leave it dish were the steak fries. Skip it and get something more interesting. The tenderloin had a great crust, but the star was the prime rib. They are "working on a rooftop" - which I will definitely frequent. read more

My wife and I went to Brass Ram on our wedding day because I have experience with Flavor Hook restaurants and they have never disappointed in service or food quality. It was just the two of us for dinner. The host staff, our server Sera, and manager Dennis, all went out of their way to congratulate us and make us feel welcome. We were welcomed with a couple of glasses of bubbly, and the menu was described, in detail, to us. I ended up changing what I had planned on getting because of the menu description, and I realized I had not had the Voodoo Sauce in a very long time. Our cocktails were perfect and the food was as fantastic as we knew it would be. At the end of our meal, we were surprised that some of our friends had found out where we were going for dinner and covered the majority of our check. We were truly caught off guard, and it was expertly hidden from us until the perfect moment. Excellent food and a nice quaint vibe, but our server was a real prick! The food was outstanding and for that they deserve a good rating but our server that particular night was terrible. We were with a group so we didn't want to complain but his attitude could drive away future visits for sure. He was so incognizant in recognizing what the table and what people needed ie, silverware, straws, refilled drinks, condiments, and anytime when asked he would get annoyed and rolled his eyes about every request that should have been addressed by him as a server beforehand. I absolutely hate having to be obligated to tip servers like this and although we did generously accordingly to the total bill, if I were alone, I would have had a different server from the beginning of his nonsense. It is so unfair to good servers that he got tipped well just because we were in a group. The steaks were absolute perfection and so was everything else as far as our dinner, drinks and dessert went. So for a lovely meal, this is the place, just make sure you receive the high end service that you expect there from the get go or just send your generous tip to the chef instead! The table and waitstaff service once you get seated, is excellent as is the food. Prime Rib is hard to do and this place does it very well, though the two times we went last the entrees did come out at separate times and was a tad cold. The lack of three additional stars is simply and purely for the management and wait times. The last time we were there we waited well over an hour for our reservation before leaving for another restaurant. Ben, the GM, was entirely unhelpful as was the owner who was watching us and four other tables who were also waiting walk out. The GM admitted they do double book some reservations and that some tables had been dining there for 4+ hours, and reiterated it was out of his control. Noted lack of care and concern as well from the front desk staff along with the GM and owner. After the experience we had, zero chance we come back to this place, Town Hearth, Neighborhood Services, or any other of the group's restaurants. Prime rib was good-ish, and far from the best I've had. Tasty crust, but the rest of it was pretty flavorless and sinewy. Definitely underwhelming considering the hype. Also, everything on the plate was lukewarm to cool. I like my hot food to be hot, thank you. Good Jus, Yorkshire pudding, horseradish sauce. Crab cakes were tasty but a bit one-note, while also a tad over-seasoned when accompanied by the sauce. Mac & Cheese side was delicious, and that's saying a lot because I typically dislike the dish. Skip the Bone Marrow gratin side. Skip the chocolate mousse (sigh, is there no place in Dallas that can do a light, airy, delicate chocolate mousse) - too dense, too much coffee. Cocktails were okay (Cadillac Red, way too much ginger) to good (Whisky Sour, Amaretto Sour). Interiors were nice, loud, expense account meets country club vibe. Service was of the pushy-nice-cursory variety that doesn't let you truly sit back and enjoy the meal and ambience. I might give them another shot sometime, but will likely end up at National Anthem instead. For over $300 for two, I expected better. read more
