To start, lovely ambiance. My boyfriend and I ordered the Caesar salad to share and start. I was a little disappointed in the lack of flavor in the dressing and the lettuce was a little brown. I should have taken a picture but I was so hungry! Next we ordered the steak Au Poivre to share. The portion size was perfect for us. I really enjoyed the sauce on the steak and it was cooked perfectly to temp. I thought the vegetables and au gratin potatoes were both plain tasting. Atmosphere was cute. Service was decent. The food was nothing to write home about. The French toast was $17 and was village inn caliber. 4 slices of thin bread and some fruit and syrup. We have decided to come back to La Merise to wrap up the restaurant week. There was no available parking around the restaurant and ended up parking few blocks to the north and to find out it was free for two hours. At 5 pm, we were the very few. Got the table across from the last time. Always liked the empty wine bottles from the past on display. Very nice ambience. We ended up getting the same waiter and as excepted, delivered very good service without any hiccups. One of us ordered from the restaurant week menu and the other, straight from the regular menu. The mussels with red sauce was large and plump but it was so so. Should tried white sauce instead. My trout almondine was very good, perfectly prepared. Mashed potatoes that accompanied were buttery and tasty. The steamed vegi I did not care for. The creme brulee was smaller in size due to the restaurant week portion? It was very small and hope the restaurant saved lot of money. Overall, still deserves 4 star. Definitely loved Eiffle Tower Martini. One of the best I had in awhile. See you soon. Very cute French restaurant in Cherry Creek. Started with the escargot - just the right amount of garlic and herbs. For dinner we ordered the beef bourguignon, lamb chops, and the sole dinner special. All of our dishes were wonderful. The Demi glaze on the bourguignon was deeply flavored, the lamb chops were plump and cooks perfectly, and the sole was buttery with lots of seasonal vegetables. We finished dinner with crème brûlée and the apple tart - both were delicious. Service was great - our server was always checking in to ensure we were doing fine. This bistro is a super charming gem in the Cherry Creek area. We had great food and good service. We dined with a large group but had to be seated in two groups. At first we were disappointed about this but once we arrived, we understood why. The restaurant features a very intimate dining area which I think would be perfect for date night. The food was delicious. The apple tart was the highlight of our meal. The only thing that we were served that was somewhat disappointing was the bananas foster. This is one of my favorite desserts. La Merise is tucked into Cherry Creek with a garden level location. The restaurant is rustic and mildly mimics a French bistro. Everything we ordered was decent, but not as memorable or flavorful as similar dishes in France. The French Onion Soup seemed to have a vinegar flavor that detracted from the savory beef, onion and cheese combination. The service was timely and very polite and we ordered wine, by the glass, and it was wonderful French wine with a very generous pour. It honestly won't be on my short list to get back to soon, but I would like to try their dinner menu as we were there for a weekend lunch/brunch. read more

I came for brunch. Nice decor inside with embroidered seats on wooden chairs. Evoked classic French atmosphere. Their menu has the usual crepes both sweet & savory, favorites, omelettes, salads, sandwiches and entrees. I started with a flute of champagne. My server brought out a basket of French bread with soft whipped butter and apricot jam and promptly ate it all. My first course was the classic French Onion Soup with Gruyere cheese. I added a glass of 2023 Minuty Rose from Provence. Nice and fruity. Next was steamed mussels in a spicy tomato sauce. A full 2 dozen mussels. I chose to use a large spoon to slurp up the sauce instead of more bread. More wine was needed. Then, I got a seafood crepe stuffed with crabmeat and covered with a tomato sauce and topped with asparagus and 2 tiger shrimp. Then I went over the top and got a very sweet Bananas Foster. They won't lift a finger to help you with anything. They just tell you that your server will be with you soon. Like when, tomorrow? I have come here a couple of times in the last few years and each time I'm disappointed and wonder why I bother. The service incredibly slow, and the guy who thinks his management style is working is beyond rude. There are so many lovely places in Cherry Creek that I really don't think that this place and their nasty manager deserve anything other than a hard pass. Bottom line: don't spend your money or waste your time. And don't give them your business. It's simply not worth it. La Merise is merely a shadow of its former self. read more

I chose La Merise as one of our Denver Restaurant Week dinners and could not have been happier with my choice! The tasting menu, although we were warned the portions would be smaller, was delicious and filling. The service was friendly and professional despite the restaurant being almost completely full, a welcome change from some of my other restaurant week experiences. Have been here multiple times here over the last decade and unfortunately it has gone downhill the last couple of years. Their drinks have always been mediocre but this time they even more poorly made and imbalanced. The Parisian chicken special was solid, thankfully, but the desserts (which used to be a real draw) were disappointing. Every time we have gone over the years we have ordered the crème brûlée and been very happy with it. This time, however, it tasted as if they bought it at a gas station and served it up. We asked nicely for them to remake it in case it was an anomaly, but the 2nd time it was even worse. Overall, what used to be a nice restaurant has become mediocre and not worth returning to (especially for the premium price). There are numerous other French restaurants in the area that are now superior to La Merise which is a shame because it used to be pretty special. read more

I came here for lunch with my parents. We sat outside on their lovely covered patio, the weather was so nice. The restaurant is cutely decorated on the inside. They only had two servers, so service was a little slow, but the wait was worth it. All the food we ordered was delicious. I tried their lamb and vegetable soup and really liked it. We had an 8:30pm seating for New Year's Eve. My Le Reve cocktail to start was very good, followed by a very generous pour of Pinot Noir with dinner that was equally delicious. I had the French Onion soup to start and it was very good... with its abundant melty cheese on top... and it was not overly salty... just perfect. Then hubs and I split the beef bourguignon which was fantastic as always... perfectly tender pieces of beef in a yummy sauce with fluffy creamy mashed potatoes. I couldn't even finish the split portion - I was too full. Daughter had the Steak Frites and we all said the fries were the best we have had. Her steak was expertly cooked medium with a nice crust. Crème brûlée for dessert had its signature creamy texture, rich flavor and burnt sugary crust. A bite was the perfect ending to a very nice meal indeed. The soup,was excellent, the crepe good but a little overly rich for my taste. At dinner we started with the pate, then had the steak frites, and the crepe Suzette for dessert. This place has good service and, a nice dog-friendly patio that is shaded, so great on hot days. It's a very Cherry Creek vibe. The food has been OK though, nothing great. My husband loved the burger. The crab salad was meh, there was very little crab, it was not chunk meat. The salad was laid out on the plate, dressing on the side. Very good but not quite great. A group of six of us went there for Denver restaurant week and all ordered off the pre fixe menu. Mussels à la Marinière, French onion soup, Chicken Croquettes, Trout Grenobloise, and Beef Bourguignon. Of these the stars were the chicken, beef, and French onion soup. These were rich, flavorful, well balanced and nicely plated. The fish and muscles were good but not outstanding. While well cooked they were somewhat bland. One thing I noticed about the muscles is that there were a few served that were not opened (don't eat). Sending out unopened muscles to a customer is a HUGE no no. It is not a big deal for the chef to pull out any unopened shells. The setting is very nice. Warm and inviting although a little loud for me. The service was excellent. Overall for a pre fixe menu/price it was a good value. However, I think their normal prices would be somewhat high for the associated quality. But...It is Cherry Creek. read more

Very Unclean here ; I witnessed them taking out smelly trash binds through the patio where people were eating. Then the same man brought us our food shortly after and his hands did not look clean after handling trash but he used a napkins so he did not to touch our plates? The salt and pepper shakers were filthy with grime on them and hadn't been cleaned. I ordered the vegetarian crepe which was sloppily thrown together with a large clump of spinach drenched in oil in the middle of it.They actually served us spoiled food here. The artichoke had reddish brown spots on it tell tale signs of it being spoiled, and the cheese had a couple mold spots on it I asked for the general manager and was told she's gone til Monday. They are masquerading as a 5 star fine dining experience and serving slop! Or bill was $80 for two entrees an ice tea and salad. . I will never go here again. Also inside it's very dated and musty. They are cutting corners with the quality and freshness of their food. The "shift manager" I spoke to could care less and told me I should've brought these things to his attention sooner then he could take care of it for us but since I waited til I left to call in he can no longer assist. It had the right amount of alcohol to fruit ratio. The steak was well cooked and not chewy at all. The butter on top was flavorful and rich. This somewhat hidden gem is now on my "permanent rotation" list. The intimate, little bistro is so inviting and lovely. Wine selection is great, as well as other bar cocktails. The dining area is a bit tight and intimate, but also makes you feel like you tucked into an authentic, French bistro in Paris. I loved my dinner of the trout. The crispy, beautiful searing of the fish was divine and gave some excellent texture to it, topped with butter and capers. SO delicious! I am eager to go back and try the escargot because it smelled amazing at a nearby table. Service was very good for such a busy place on a weekend. read more
