Their specialty the picanha plate was absolutely scrumptious. The rump cap (picanha) is fatty and flavorful due to chimichurri flavoring. The rice is also flavorful. Nice, attentive, helpful staff. Plenty of indoor seating. I like the side of farofa (cassava flour that resembles yellow breadcrumbs) which adds to the taste and texture of the overall dish. The only thing I didn't like about the picanha is that a few sections are super tough and chewy. I struggled tearing it with my mouth, so I had to meticulously cut the meat into bits with my steak knife. Also because of the plate's curvature, it was hard to get a smooth continuous cut on some of the meat pieces. I am so happy to have accidentally found this spot about a year ago. My mom used to make Brazilian food, and this is the only Brazilian place I've found that's authentic, and always fresh. Their coixinhas, and pastels are to die for. Today I bought some brigadeiros, and I have never tasted brigadeiros that were better than my moms, but these hand down were the best I've ever had. The people who work there are lovely and I love the casual vibe. The food is insanely inexpensive for the quality and in comparison to other OC spots. My family and I love this place! The staff is always so welcoming and helpful. They have an indoor and outdoor area with heaters which is nice. My favorite items are the Nutella pastel, picanha sandwich, chicken croquette, fried plantains , and the churros. As a Brazilian, I was genuinely excited to try Brazuca Cafe and share a taste of home with my family--but unfortunately, we were all very disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. We ordered both the chicken and meat strogonoff, and all we could taste was the overwhelming flavor of crème de leite (the cream used in the sauce). It lacked depth and seasoning. The picanha plate was just okay, but it was padded with a generous portion of salad to make the plate look fuller than it really was. We also ordered five desserts--pudim (flan), three cake in the cup , and a passion fruit mousse--and none of them were good. The cakes tasted old and dry, and the mousse was runny and lacked flavor. The café itself is cute, and the staff were very friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. But at the end of the day, the experience just didn't match the $230 price tag. This cute, small Brazilian restaurant is hidden next to the Regal theater in the South Coast Metro shopping center so parking will be available but could vary depending on the time of the day and week. It closes at 8 but I think it's more of a brunch place. The food portion looks small but is surprisingly filling. Preface: Since this is my first time eating a Brazilian cuisine, my review will be based on that perspective for others in the same shoes. If you're looking for a more experienced review, look elsewhere. I ate the steak plate and it was accompanied with rice, a salad and beans. There's this butter to the side that has the consistency of slightly rougher brown sugar. The flavor it adds to the food is different but appealing. The steak was a little too chewy but it tasted quite good. The value for this 20 bucks which is a little pricey for what was given, but since there aren't many competitors, I believe it's a valid value, plus the shop is aesthetically pleasing, so the price could be going into the experience as well. Service here is friendly but not proactive, so have your expectations there. I think this is a great place to go for your first time. Granted, I came hungry and in a rush so I didn't get to try everything like I usually would in my other reviews. Will come back for an update. read more

Steak sandwich $15ish Shareable for two ppl to be satisfied. They use high quality beef that didn't even need too much seasoning, it was well flavored ! Tender without being overly so. So so good! Giseli and her team at Brazuca Cafe catered finger foods at my wedding last year. I finally got around to trying out a full meal here. AND WOWWEEE the food is DELICIOUS! I ordered online and was able to use a promo code for $5 off. My husband arrived at the time we were told to arrive and the food was being packed up. Perfect timing! We ended up trying: Coxinha, Pao de Queijo, Bolinha De Carne, Steak Plate (medium rare), and a Chicken Plate. The food was SO GOOD. We ordered the Pao de Queijo and Bolinha De Carne for our wedding so we knew they'd be delicious. The pao de queijo is deliciously chewy and warm with the perfect amount of salt from the cheese. ADDICTING! The bolinha de carne is equally as good. The beef filling is so flavorful with the perfect ratio of everything. The coxihna was great too! Loved the flavor and shredded chicken. Between the two, the coxihna is easier to eat more of since it is a bit lighter, but the bolinha is more delicious (but heavier to eat). EVERYTHING IS FRIED TO PERFECTION! The meat plates were equally as delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly! Nicely seasoned with the right amount of fat for flavor. What really impressed me was the chicken! Seasoned generously and not dry at all! It's so hard to find a restaurant that cooks chicken properly, BUT BRAZUCA DOES IT! What a gem here at the shopping center! They've been open for about 7 months and worth making a trip here for if you anywhere in the shopping center. We made a special trip here after we saw it featured on social media. They did not disappoint. The menu is quite extensive for a small restaurant. Order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. I had a Spanish Latte to start. It was good, not nearly as sweet as what I was expecting. The vegetarian stroganoff caught my eye and it was just right. A simple salad with rice and a little cast iron pot of mushroom and hearts of palm stroganoff. It was fantastic. Came in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon...3:30. There were a few other people there eating, but no line, so we were able to put in an order very quickly. We don't know a lot about Brazilian cuisine, except for the all-you-can eat steakhouses, but thought we'd give it a try. Wanted to try a few different dishes, so stayed away from the plates and bigger meals. Ordered Pizza pastel, Bananinha, large Coxinha, a 6 piece combo of Bolinha de Queijo and Bolinha de Carne (3 each...and thank you for allowing us to do this), and Fried Yuca. Sat down at a table...there were plenty available, including some outside. Interior of the restaurant was clean (except the one table just vacated, and it was cleaned shortly after we sat down). Service staff was very friendly. All of our food looks to be fried, which is fine with me. The first problem we had was that almost everything came out to us just lukewarm. It was especially noticeable with the cheese in the Pizza pastel and the Bolinha de Queijo, which was not melted. The Yuca came out hot, but none of the Parmesan cheese that was apparently sprinkled on after cooking stuck to the food...it all fell to the bottom of the container. One other thing...the Yuca was $5.50, and we received 5 pieces. They were the size of regular potato wedges, but it seemed a little much to be $1.10 each. The other thing that was a bit off-putting was the dryness of the meat in the Bolinha de Carne and the Coxinha. I have the feeling that it was pre-cooked before being put into the pastry. This is I think backed up by the fact that the pastry surrounding the meat was doughy and seemed a little undercooked. There was a sauce that came with the meal, maybe that was meant to add some moisture to the meats? Lastly, the Bananinha. The inside of sliced banana and cinnamon-sugar was warm and gooey, but I would have liked a little more with the amount of pastry surrounding it....a little thing.... The outside was sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar, but it mostly fell off when I went to take a bite. Maybe it was allowed to cool too long after coming out of the fryer??? In any event, it was delicious, and I enjoyed it. read more
