I assume they may have cooked it in the store at some point but then it had to have been frozen since it tasted like it had been in a freezer. I have had good experiences at the former location in Eastern Market, so I was expecting this would be the same. Unfortunately, our service was incredibly slow, despite there being few customers, and our waitress seriously kept looking over to our table when we were clearly ready to order or ready to pay and would service another table. We went here for an early brunch on a weekend morning. I was not a big fan of the food. I thought my eggs were greasy and the bacon wasn't cooked that well. I detest poor customer service. I walked in and they took two people before me.... Who came in after I did. They were being seated and I wanted to go. The woman who takes the to go orders was there, saw me but went somewhere. I think she is the manager. Another woman tried to help me. She physically told them only part of my order as she couldn't get it into the computer system, before she rushed off. They seem a bit understaffed. I love Breand and Chocolate simply because there are so few places where you can get a good breakfast without having to make a reservation and spend a lot of money. I live near B&C, and my husband and I like to roll out of bed on a weekend, and get their Eggs Benedict (or crepes, or birchermuseli) and orange juice. Service is bad, they seem to have 500 waitresses milling around the coffee machine and catching someone's eye when you need a bit more water is next to impossible. Forget sitting outside, they will forget about you. I am still leaving 5 stars, though. there are so few places in DC where it is EASY to go for breakfast-- and not a greasy diner breakfast and not a $50 breakfast. I will only stop in for a pastry and a hot drink. I will not dine in anymore. I work right next door, so I've had a chance to taste a lot of their dishes. As convenient as it would be for this to be a go-to lunch place, it's simply not. The service is slow, they're not friendly, and there is nothing interesting about the food.
