Experience (3/5 stars): *Food: Hawaiian Luau had egg toast, spam and egg. Salmon Bagel had cream cheese and salmon. Breakfast sandwich was a little sad, looked like a tiny muffin. Everything was okay, nothing special. *Price: overpriced *Service: slow Overall, I'd recommend going elsewhere for breakfast.

Last meal in Vancouver and needed something quick and yummy. Glad I read the reviews on how to find Bread x Butter as it's tucked inside an office building. Heard New Jeans playing and did not put together that their egg toast is Korean inspired until later. Got the spam egg toast with an iced americano. Friend got confused and ordered the bacon egg cheese sandwich, but it came on an english muffin. The bread for the sandwiches was huge, a bit too much bread at the bottom with no filling, but fluffy and nicely toasted. Loved the touch of nori inside the sandwich.

I ordered the Hawaiian egg toast. The bread, egg and spam were delicious. I would have preferred it without the seaweed, but that's my fault for not noticing that before ordering. It was very filling and I was fueled for a full day of sightseeing! We sat outside and the courtyard space was peaceful and pretty. I felt isolated from the street noise in a little oasis. It was perfect weather to sit outside and enjoy delicious food in a serene space. We even had a little feathered friend to entertain us. As others have noted, it was a little hard to find. We Google mapped it and it brought us to the right building but we couldn't figure out how to get inside of it or where in the building it was. However, I then checked the Yelp posts for direction, and we were able to quickly find it based on Yelpers directions.

I visited the Bread x Butter Cafe located in downtown. It's in a hotel lobby pretty hidden from foot traffic. When I went in, they had some special summer drinks so we tried their coconut matcha and another drink which had aloe, orange juice, soda, and a shot of espresso. I couldn't taste the coconut in the matcha and the other drink (can't remember the name) was very bitter. We thought that the combination of the ingredients would go well together but it did not. For food, I got their famous truffle mushroom egg toast. It was pretty cheesy and good but lacked flavour. I wasn't sure what the hype was but the aesthetics were good! The other thing we got was their mushroom toast, which was served cold to us and was just a slice of bread with mushroom, salt, pepper, and cream cheese. The service was ok, they were quick to take our order and didn't take much time to get the order ready. Wouldn't say they were the friendliest. Haven't tried their Burnaby location yet!!

Cute place, kind service, good food! Many thanks to the previous Yelpers who described how to find this place because it was definitely hard to find. Glad there was a mini-sandwich board outside and that my partner spotted it entering from the Hornby entrance. The cafe faces the Bill Reid Gallery of Coast Art. I got the Avocado Me egg toast, a side salad, and a London Fog. I was impressed with the amount of egg, and I appreciated the fluffy toast. It looked difficult to eat, but it was constructed well, and I had no trouble at all. The side salad was also significant, which I was quite happy about because it's hard to eat enough vegetables while traveling. It included mixed greens, beets, carrots, cucumber, and celery topped with a vinaigrette. The London Fog was also quite lovely--the perfect amount of foam and sweetener for my taste. It is a little pricey for what it is, but this cafe is my type of place and I'm on vacation.

Located inside a big office building in downtown Vancouver, Bread & Butter Cafe serves large breakfast sandwiches at high prices for the brunch crowd on weekends. We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, and as the other reviews said, it's a bit hard to find. You just have to enter the office building and then follow the noise. There is standard cafeteria type seating, and it was getting pretty full by the time we arrived. It's very casual, where you look at the menu postered on the counter. You order and pay first, find a seat, and the food will be delivered to you. You can get water in plastic cups if you ask for it. Two of us ordered egg breakfast sandwiches ($11), while two of us ordered the udon specials ($14). I got the udon mixed with salmon roe and furikake, and I didn't care for the combination. The other was udon mixed in with bulgogi. Both were topped off with a overeasy egg. The sandwiches had plenty of scrambled egg, and the brioche egg bun was thick and expertly grilled. But the ingredients didn't seem like it was top notch, and everything was put together a bit haphazardly. It definitely gave off cafeteria, mass produced food vibes. The menu is definitely large, but wouldn't really want anything else on the menu. It's a kinda place where it would fit as a courthouse cafe, where jurors and professionals would eat their lunch while continuing their trial...you take advantage of the food because you have to be there, but wouldn't come there just for the food. I thought the food was just OK and the service was average.

I was staying in DT Vancouver and the breakfast at the hotel was too large, so I was looking for a place where I could easily get toast and a cappuccino. I luckily found this place within 5 minutes walking from my hotel. However, I didn't check the location carefully and ended up passing by the store. *Located inside the "Cathedral Place Building". There is another coffee shop on the right when you enter but keep walk straight, you'll reach this place. I had decided to order bread and butter, but the staff was kind, so I changed order "Avocado me" and (L) Almond milk latte. There is space where you can eat inside the store. The courtyard of the building that can be seen from the window is wonderful. Avocado-Me is Brioche loaf, fresh avocado, scramble eggs, cheddar and kewpie mayo. Avocado me was warm and delicious. If you are tired of hotel breakfast, you may want to come here.

We got the Hawaiian Luau Egg Toast ($13.65) for takeout. It was so big that my bf and I were able to split it. It had a large amount of egg and also had spam, seaweed, and cheese. I don't like mayo, but the mayo amount was very light. The flavors meshed so well together and kinda reminded me of eating a spam musubi! It came out piping hot and was the perfect breakfast!

Avoid this place at any cost. I ordered a "turkey cranberry sandwich and the thing has no ingredients, it's a joke yet the cashier has the audacity to stare at the tablet to make sure you leave a tip

we were looking for a breakfast place close to our hotel. yelp led us to this place. it was located behind an office building. it wasn't that busy when we came so yay for that. first you order at the front. and they'll bring your order to the table. service was pretty fast. i got an egg toast with spam and egg. it was served on a brioche loaf, so soft and buttery! egg was fluffy! and spam was cooked just the way i like it: crispy but still soft. my husband got the truffle mushroom egg toast. i didn't try it but he loved it. tried their passion fruit juice, not too sweet, which is a plus. avocado me sounded pretty good too. but i was craving spam. perhaps, ill try it next time!

The food is tasty, and there is a lot of variety in egg toast sandwiches. The service is friendly and quick. The one issue is the Bread x Butter location as it's in an office building; while it may be busy during the week, on the weekend, the office building is pretty empty; therefore, not a lot of ambiance. Other than that, if you need a quick meal, try this.

Parking: We knew street parking was tough so we walked there from our hotel 3 block away. Ambience: fast pace breakfast atmosphere. Service: The service was very friendly. We asked for a few recommendations and there was a minor miscommunication and we received the wrong order but they made up for it by providing drinks on the house while they made the correct order. Food: I ordered the truffle egg sandwich and Hawaiian Luau Sandwich. Both were amazing. Overall: Great service and food. I would definitely return. read more

Ordered Bread and Butter. It was pretty much sliced bread from a grocery store with a side of butter for $9. I felt like I was getting punk'd. it took them over 15 minutes to bring it out and it was slow. Only a handful of cutsomers. read more

What a gem in downtown Vancouver! Located inside 925 West Georgia is a cute cafe with indoor seating and a lush open outdoor space outside the building. I ordered the truffle mushroom egg toast ($9.50) and was not disappointed. Mushroom, cheddar, truffle aioli, fluffy eggs in between yummy bread. Only complaint is that it can be hard to eat without utensils as you gotta grapple with the box. Otherwise it's super yummy! read more

I got the torched salmon udon and it was really delicious. The flavor of the seaweed butter is subtle and the pickled vegetables add a complexity of flavor I really enjoyed. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The only downside of this item is that it doesnt match the uber eats image that shows a salmon fillet which would be better value for the price of the item. Nevertheless the item was very enjoyable. The sous vide egg I am assuming did not travel well since it was likely popped since I could not find it read more

I came to try their egg toast. I saw a picture of the Hawaiian Luau and knew I needed to try it. It features crispy fried spam, scrambled eggs, cheddar, crispy seaweed, and kewpie mayo. It's very hearty...maybe a little too salty and even a little heavy to the point the bread gets soggy. I would share with someone. My partner got the porchetta eggs benny, and the sourdough with jam. The porchetta was kind of dry, and the potatoes were lukewarm. The bread and the jam wasn't anything special either. BUT, apparently, they serve complimentary waffles with their brunch, and these were definitely my favourite part of the meal! Nice choice if you're around the area and are craving some breakfast foods, but I wouldn't go out of my way for them. read more

Great spot for breakfast sandwich and udon noodles. Went for the Hawaiian luau sandwich and fell in love with the eggs and spam. The scrambled eggs were so fluffy! The udon was perfectly cooked as well but it was on the pricier side. Well worth it to get multiple sandwiches! read more

Locked away in front of a beautiful courthouse parklett bread and butter cafe was a perfecf start to the Monday. I spent $12 on the Avacado egg sandwich and it was delicious and filled me up. They bring you the food if you are eating inside so good service. The bread was very fluffy as with the eggs. The sauce they used paired very nicely and was a very good sandwich. You can eat your breakfast and look at the nice cathedral views. Quiet and hidden away, great place to have breakfast if you are visiting! read more

It's located inside the Cathedral Place office building, and tucked away at the farthest corner. A little unassuming cafe with food court style seating, but don't let the look fool you. Do yourself a favor and try their egg toast. I had their Hawaiian luau egg toast and matcha latte. Brioche was nicely toasted, it included the creamiest and fluffiest eggs in the world, spam, cheese, seaweed and kewpie mayo. Every bite is well seasoned and perfection! The matcha latte is a little too gritty, but love the slight bitterness from the matcha tea powder. I saw on their menu that they have waygu beef udon, torched salmon udon and truffle udon. I haven't tried it yet, but I did have friends who tried and weren't a fan of their udon. They said their udon is just generic (sometimes on the hard side), and their sauce is too buttery, so it's a very heavy dish. I would have to try that for myself next time. read more

How is this place not reviewed more? Amazing value for a brunch done better than most. We had Udon Shrimp toast American breakfast Oat milk latte Matcha latte They probably have other names for what I'm describing from memory. All of it was super good! The shrimp toast was outstanding. The 2 of us shared it as it was a full-flavoured sandwich it was amazing and only $10 . The matcha oat milk latte had such a high grade matcha flavour profile. The American breakfast came with bacon, sausage and ham alongside other typical items for I think under $20 And the udon was a great bouncy texture. It was really good. With that said I wouldn't get it for brunch again as I enjoyed their sandwich more. Next time I come. We'll probably get 2 sandwiches and lattes. That meal for two would be under $30! read more

This place is more of a 3.5 but it has some good pros. They are situated in front a nice courtyard and have really nice and friendly staff. Food was very good and arrived quickly. The only con is their menu felt a bit limited, I would have liked to see a variety of other items. read more

Hidden gem Tucked away in downtown Vancouver is this little cafe/restaurant. And it's on the more affordable side of places in downtown! ALSO with every Benny order for a limited time you get a side of FREE crispy waffles! * Waffles ~ nice and airy, already have syrup on it and it's perfect amount nice and crispy and sweet. Not too sweet but very light too! Batter is already semi sweet so the subtle light drizzle of syrup is all you need! * Hawaiian luau egg toast ($9) ~the mayo used adds such a good flavour profile. The toast is nice and toasted and thick, eggs nicely scrambled not too runny nor over cooked. Spam is nice and thick too! The seaweed in the sandwich really helps balance out the salty spam and mayo! * Bennys west coast ($14) ~ nicely poached eggs, nice and fresh smoked salmon, with a side mixed salad and paprika crispy potatoes. The hollandaise sauce is nice and creamy, not too overpowering. * The works ($14) ~ comes with sausage, bacon, ham, eggs, paprika seasoned crispy potatoes and toast. Those potatoes are on a whole new level! Ultra crispy and very well seasoned! That bacon was ultra crispy holy!!! Only wished the bread had more butter. * London fog 16oz ($5) ~ very creamy and foamy, not too sweet. Nice hint of earl grey. * Iced matcha latte 16oz ($5.50) ~ not too sweet and not too strong. Nice vibrant colour. I am one who has a sweeter tooth so I wish it was slightly sweeter. But for those who don't like too sweet this is the drink for you! * Americans 16oz ($4) ~ * 8/10 ~ super delicious, i do wish some of the drinks were a bit sweeter and that the Benny had more hollandaise sauce. * 9/10 ~ very cheap for delicious filling food in downtown! Lovely egg toast This shop located in the very back of the Shaw building which took us quite a long time to find. This must be the fanciest cooked egg sandwich I've ever eaten! Ordered the Hawaiian Luau and truffle sandwiches and I was a bit disappointed. taste was pretty predictable but pricey given how it taste. probably wouldn't come again. The sandwich from Miracle Belgian Waffle is much better as their sauce brings out the uniqueless rather than just eating plain spam and egg sandwich. read more

Went here for the toasts and sandwiches, I think the person at the counter misheard me and I received the Butter Udon Noodles with egg truffle instead of the Egg Truffle toast I had asked for. I decided to just eat it anyway since I was in a hurry. It was quite below average, barely any flavour apart from the green onions and eggs, felt like it was a basic pan fry noodles for 20 CAD not sure how much better the sandwiches are going to be. Pretty tasty but hard to find. The communication is a bit lacking. I ordered a potato salad with my combo (which was on the menu) but they subbed a garden salad and didn't tell me in advance and didn't provide a dressing. The sandwiches are good though so there's that. I'd probably do that next time and forego the combo option. read more

I'd rate this place higher but after 25 minutes and cold milk added to it my mocaccino was still so hot I couldn't drink it. 10 minutes into waiting it scalded my WHOLE mouth making the rest of breakfast difficult. The classic breakfast sandwich with bacon was really good though, just hard to put down after my coffee destroyed my mouth. Even the employee that made my drink said it was too hot to drink after it had sat for 15 minutes read more

A hidden gem! After waiting in long lines or trying to get on waitlists at more popular breakfast/brunch spots it was refreshing to find a place with delicious breakfast sandwiches and coffee with no crowds in sight. I used to come here all the time and loved the truffle egg sandwich with the brioche bun. I came recently and while the truffle egg is still very fluffy and tasty, the bun has changed and is now over toasted and dry. It just doesn't go with the egg anymore. If you're the owner and you see this, please please go back to the old bun. It actually makes a huge difference read more

However, it doesn't come with any lettuce or anything other than the beef and sauce. The bread was nothing special. It was basically thin regular bread. It does take them about 10 mins to make the sandwich. In terms of the way they serve it, it was presented to me nicely and the box was made to perfectly fit the sando inside. We savored their 'Avocado-Me Toast', where scrambled eggs, cheese, and a tantalizing drizzle of Japanese mayo were nestled in, rather than on, beautifully toasted bread. The avocado was the crowning glory - ripe to perfection, adding a lush, creamy texture. The warmth and friendliness of the owners added to the charm, making us feel like family.
